2011 Great Model Railroads - Good news, bad news
Posted by mobilman44 on Friday, October 15, 2010 5:53 PM

Hi!

The good news - got the 2011 GMR today.  The bad news - it was pretty bent/folded up.

I've ordered these since the first issue, and they are one of the few mags I keep - and frequently review.  Why this one, and not my AARP or NRA mag ???

ENJOY  !

Call the nice folks at MRR mag. and tell them the unfortunate thing that happened, and I'll bet they send you another one.

They'll replace it, just call customer service.  I have mine and informed my wife that it was a special issue and to please not throw it in with the other mags.  Besides with the larger format it doesn't fit.

MM,

Bummer.

I like to save mine too and I want them to be in good shape.

Call Customer Service.  They will do good by you.

Glad to hear that it's out, from what I understand there are some pretty nice shots of Jim Hertzog's Reading a really fantastic layout that I was lucky enough to visit.

Just my 2 cents worth, I spent the rest on trains. If you choked a Smurf what color would he turn?

Hi,

Called Kalmbach Customer Service this morning and a new GMR is on the way.  They were very nice - as they always seem to be.  Oh, while I was there I ordered the new MR calendar - something I really use and enjoy!

ENJOY  !

Mine arrived yesterday in perfect shape.  I intended to read it through last night but my NMRA Magazine arrived the same day and it had an article that particularly interested me, so I got distracted.  So GMR may be set aside for weekend reading, after the quick glance I gave it.  I notice an even greater emphasis on side bars with modeling tips, including a potentially very interesting one on using a digital point and shoot camera to take layout pictures versus an SLR.  The results speak for themselves.

Hi!

I've got all the GMRs since the first issue.   When I decided to switch to DCC, I went thru all the old issues and added up the different systems used on the layouts.  Digitrax came out first, NCE a fairly close second (followed by Lenz).  No big surprise, but I wanted to see for myself what these folks with the really nice MRs preferred.

Funny thing, this new issue depicts all kinds of DCC operating systems with Digitrax not the most common.  Just the luck of the draw, but I found it interesting.

ENJOY  !
