 Good Evening 'eh,

Rerun and I are gonna call it a night...we's got thunder-boomers to the west. Nothing "severe," but NWS was kind enough to issue a "Special Weather Statement" THAT we can expect "wind gusts of 30-50 mph" with the passage of this line of storms. My plan is to be ASLEEP by the time it gets here.

For KEITH's enjoyment later in the morning...

CNW 5087 leads NPPRA (North Platte-Proviso) eastbound through Morrison, Illinois 23 years ago.

Good night...

Evenin' folks!

Flo, just a decaf for me.

Ray, I think it was, ordered up some Canadian back bacon just about as soon as we arrived in this Moosenee siding. I hope the girls brought a good stock along, as you’ll be hard pressed to find any in Canada…it pretty much all gets shipped – and I’ll leave y’all to guess as to where.

WHAT?  Next thing someone is going to tell me you can't get "White Hots" in Texas!!!???!!Shock  Even worse, THAT I can't get French Fries in.... in France.........  What is the world coming to?? Whistling  Great photos of the wreck BTW!

I finished on tape for my sister, have one more to go before I send it on the way out to her.  Got a few other odds and ends done.  I am also trying to figure out what the next step should be for the quarry.  i think i need to figure out what is needed in terms of equipment, stone piles, and some buildings before i continue with the landscape........  Therein is a block.  Can't seem to find much about what a 1925 stone crushing operation looked like.

Ah well, I'll think about it more tomorrow.....

Just to prove a GP 38 is lighter than a SD 40 ... The Soo Line GP 38 ended up on top of the SD 40.

Der John ... at first I thought those were toilet paper rolls. Your building looks nice so far, but I thought you could have bee nwiped out.

We have our company for a few days. Not much new on the layout. Got the Sea Doo going again and in the water, but it's hot out there.

Here's another photo of our Amtrak trip in Colorado. There are other pictures for later.

Good evening Diners:  Ray, I think it was, ordered up some Canadian back bacon just about as soon as we arrived in this Moosenee siding. I hope the girls brought a good stock along, as you’ll be hard pressed to find any in Canada…it pretty much all gets shipped – and I’ll leave y’all to guess as to where. LOL  That’s as poly-itikal as I’m going to get about now, except to shake my head a tad over the perception that Canada is a Markist state.Confused

Thanks for the kind words on the mill/bakery. It’s turning out better than I had anticipated. One bonus, visible in the photos, is that I’ve used sheet styrene that was free- gas pump advertising placards. I painted them over with white latex primer before doing anything else with them. I used a roller – and the bonus result is that the texture of the walls looks to me to be that slightly rough look concrete has.

Keith:  About those rolls, right diameter, different product. Kitchen paper, IIRC  (it’s been at least 9 years!) Here’s the difference.

On the track weathering, the bullet I finally bit was to air brush on a dark chocolatey brown, and since I’m using mainly (pun unintentional but true!) a light natural stone ballast, letting the dust from that weather the ties a more grayish brown.  The ballast is Arizona Stone, who I read were going out of business. I think your dis-satisfaction with the rail colour so far is that it’s too light. That, at any rate, is why I went for the dark chocolate brown. It’s been my observation that rails tend to dark rust, the way bodies of water such as ponds and streams tend to black/dark brown.  Positive stroke for ya – the bridge weathering looks great!Bow  …and to do it on a curve as a first attempt BowBow!!!  The arch project to which I referred the other day is to replace the card arch you can see beyond the mill “silos” with a set of probably 4 being used to house businesses such as El-Cheepo Auto Repair/re-paint.  (Serial # grinding optional – Vinnie’s friends  can suggest pricing )

Barry:

We've got little 3 wheel scooter things that go that far!! And for $3,000!!!
Like this?...

 Sawyer:

stickin her in california and shovin that whole state off the continental 48 and have it sink, with all inhabitants moving to China.
…I think that you may be forgetting that a few of our Diner patrons are part of those who would be having the China experience!Whistling

Garry: Not only did they jump clear, but they were able to uncouple the undamaged and still-on-the-tracks other units and pull back the respective trains out of the fire hazard (started a forest fire too, that one, but a quickly bulldozed road got the equipment in place over the mile in from the nearest highway )Cool

JR:

Sort of like needing French NOTB, eh?
….don’t “have to” but one sort of osmotes it (If Chris’ THAT will allow a verb rooted in osmosis, WHICH I doubt! Big Smile

CapeJim:  Way back I was a Food Technologist, and worked with bakery engineers – also, I try to figure out how a process in a factory I’m modeling works. That way I can fudge a kinda-sorta  reality.

Beach time this p.m. with the grandkids. #1 grandson has yet to visit here without injuring himself somehow! Today, not more than 20 minutes on the beach he slipped off a rock and cut his foot open on a periwinkle! So used to this sort of thing is this kid that he was packing a medi-kit, and did his own first aid!  We’ll see in the morning if he needs any actual medical attention. He’s fixed himself up with a date for tomorrow afternoon – a local Facebook girlfriend who wants to hang with him….we shall see if he can give us a family name, phone # and address…being “in loco parentis” ( hey, there’s a loco in there!Clown) we’d like to know where we can pick up the corpse.Shock

Gotta go, and for a snack before bed  I’ll have the pan fries sole with new potatoes and pole beans, please.Dinner

God Bless, and prayers continuing for all in need of Healing, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace.Angel

Hello, me again but I promise I have cooled down since yesterday. I guess I over-reacted. My excuse is that I had just come in from washing the car which of itself is no big deal but it was 92F with a humidex of 102F and no wind. I'm not used to that kind of heat so I guess it made me a little cranky.

GLAD to have ya back Pally!

If I drove you out, I apologize. I say what I say, and do what I do for one reason: LIBERTY. I've grown rather fond of it. But...THAT's no excuse to go alienating good people here in the Diner.

Again, glad your back, and I'm sorry for any distress I might've caused you.

SAWYER: I'll let you in on a philosophy THAT has served me well over the past 41 years of my existence: always expect/prepare for the worst. THAT way, you can only be pleasantly surprised. Some would say I'm a pessimist. Nope...stone-cold realist. My wife on the other hand, is THE quintessential optimist. We can both be looking at a thunderstorm. She'll comment on the pretty lightning. I'm looking for the cloud to ground THAT is gonna burn down the house, and the F-5 tornado...

SAWYER: Thanks to you as well. Good luck with the class load. From what I've seen of you, I have no doubt you'll do just fine. Approve

THAT assessment goes for the rest of our "young guns" as well... don't want to slight any of you guys, you're all giving me a glimmer of hope for the future! Thumbs UpThumbs Up

yes sir I will be fine, but I prefer to bellyache and moan and groan because it IS gonna be a ton of work, but I usually expect death row and then the work we DO get isn't as bad. USUALLY that is!

I to think we'll be just fine for the future. I see some kids at school and hear what they believe and it's like we are screwed but there's a lot of others where it's like thank the lord. Then again I am in the Southeast...

Jim, I haven't done much on the RR lately. Two weeks ago I got the CP SW9 out and coupled on a short train of CP cars, well a short train is all I can do as I only have 7 pieces of CP rolling stock plus caboose. Anyway the train still sits on the mainline waiting to go somewhere. I was down in Thief River Falls on the week-end and picked up my Kleins order at my friends. It was just a WS fishing figure set and a Noch sailing dinghy with fisherman. Fishing and sailing don't mix as the boat is either going too fast or too slow and then the sail, rigging, boom, etc. tends to get in the way but heck it is my harbour and in it there is always a steady 3 knot breeze.

Nothing else new.

See Ken - no good deed goes unpunished.Smile. Best bet is to see if you can get one of her GF's to take her on a girls only weekend somewhere and then quick like a bunny fill the floor, let it air and cover it over. Don't forget to polyurethane the bondo to keep any lingering smell down. Easier to ask forgiveness than permission.Whistling

As far as the meds are concerned, I'm on enough stuff to tranquuilize a horse and yes, if the stuff doesn't w..k correctly for you drowsiness/lack of energy is a definite possibility.

Keith - Lived in Hanford for four years so been to San Luis and Morro and most everywhere else. The Pacific Coast Highway is one of my favorite drives as well as the road through Angeles Nat'l Forest (at least before all the fires and landslides). It's always fun to go back and there's always something new to see.  Used to love it when Laguna Seca and Sears Point were back to back weekends and the Holiday Inn right on the beach would let us prep the car in the parking lot between races right at the waters edge. Lots of good memories out that way.    J.R.

Just got home from the Eye Doctor.  Wore one of my Despair.com shirts (One THAT says "The Time For Action is Past, Now is the time for senseless bickering" ) and had the office help going pretty good for a while.  The good news is the eyes checked out with only a slight change from a year ago.  More good news was since I am now classified as diabetic, they think Blue Cross. Blue Shield may pay for part of the exam.....  Time will tell.  Only bad news is THAT I am stuck inside for a couple more hours while the eyedrops wear off.  Man is THAT little light for the one exam bright!

Hah!! I know that one! Since I too have diabetes I had my eyes tested using those dang drops! Good thing I had sunglasses because walking out of his office into the bright sunshine would have been sheer torture for my poor eyes! Up here our OHIP pays for the eye examination if you are diabetic...

Oh, Mr. Teen Fan sir,  Be careful on THAT machine!  I read too often about some serious injuries from accidents with them thingies........Grumpy  This is coming from a guy who spent a summer when I was about your age getting a 1939 (?) Ford pick-up truck running, more or less anyway.  My cousin and I got it running except for the broken fuel pump.  Couldn'd find one so we took turns sitting on the front fender and pouring gas into the carburetor while seeing how fast we could go in the back fields.........  Was a lot of fun until my Dad found out! Shock

I used to run around the back 40 with a frame and front clip of a 1961 Chevrolet Impala. The only seat that had was an orange crate!---sitting perilously on the frame of said "car"... That was when I was 10 yr old...

Welp. I'm now going to see about whether I can find another bunch of styrofoam to work on some more hills and dales for the layout--seems that one goes through a lot of that hereWhistling

CudaKen: The meds I'm on include 100mg of Metropolol, 10mg of coversyl and something called Lassix. I also take 80mg of Lipitrol, 75mg of Plavix, 6mg of Warfarin and a couple of other things---non of these have given me any issues but then again--my system tends to be a bit indifferent to all this stuff. That problem you describe seems to be something I've heard about some types of blood pressure meds--might be an idea to take it at night if it makes you tired---

I'll have a giant quadruplex burger with a tub o' fries please as well as a tub of RBF ---I'll be at the back mowing down on said burger/fries----DinnerMischiefBig Smile

Blood Pressuer Med's?
Posted by cudaken on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 5:03 PM

I am sure I am not the only one here that takes some kind of Blood Pressure Medication. When I lost my health insurances I had to change one of my blood pressure medication  After I made the change I started to feel a little sick to my stomach, did not feel like doing anything and felt sleepy most of the time. I did not think about the medication being the problem till the other day.

Today, I did not take the new medication and did feel better. No naps and felt like doing stuff. Still not a ball of fire but sure better than I had been feeling. Before I make a Dr apportionment I was wondering if anyone here has as some smiler reactions? Kind of hope it not just in my mind, and I will take the med before I go to bed.

With feeling better I did get some projects I have been putting off done. Programed 4 engines CV's, installed LED's in my PK 1 Erie Built and SD 7 and hard wire a decoder in a NYC PK 1 F-3!  If you know me, I hate hard wiring and soldering! Really don't know why, but today it did not seem to be such a chore.

On the Floor Front  The sand idea, making crunching sounds, plus it was taking for ever for the Elmer's Glue to dry. I had to lay Luan on it before it dried so the dogs could go out. To day the wife got wind of my idea about using body filler and off to the races we went! She can't stand the smell, there is no ventilation! (because she will not let me open the windows because she is afraid bugs will get in!)

So I said Fine, it is done! I am taking ever thing back and going to buy a train engine with the Money!  Guess I will be buying some Body Filler Wednesday! Big Smile She will put up with the smell if it keeps me from buying a engine! Big Smile

Hope you folks have a great night, time to BBQ again Ken

J.R.  I don't know if you know too much of Monterrey,  but keith and Jeanne lived 100 miles south of that in a little town called Cambria. One of the best drives ever, is to drive up Hwy 1 from Morro bay up to Monterrey.  The second best drive is coming down from Monterrey to Morro bay.  But please don't take the turns too fast,  you'll go over the cliff! lol.  If you hit Cambria just right.. I think might hit some nice times.  Wed. night is a good one.

But the real treat is the San Luis Obispo town, they have a festival every.. Thurs night.  They close down the streets.. and the stuff begins.   Cooking ribs out in the open on an oak grill, walking down the street havin a cool beer.  and handfuls and bags of produce (back then a buck a bunch) all up for sale.  Its called the Higuera street festival.  Of course its been some time since we've been there.  But I'm sure you'll have fun.

Good Afternoon All,

A nice RBF would hit the spot just now. It got hot and humid as predicted so I kind of slowed down on the job. Off to the museum this evening then to N.J. to my friends to go to the airport tomorrow at O2 early for the flight to San Francisco and then on to Monterey by car from there for all the car stuff this weekend. I'll be in the back at the counter for a bit.   CUL, J.R.

Don't worry Howmus and Rob, I take proper precautions. Today I broke all my riding gear out. Helmet, gloves and safety glasses. I almost flipped our 250 offroading once on a trail. I hit a berm and didn't lift off the throttle. The quad stood up straight, and I bailed off before it rolled onto me. 55 is nothing, I got a buddy who has a Kawasaki dirt bike, 250, and that dang thing will go 81 mph. Problem is that our quad does have a bit of understeer. I think I made a good lap time around the property almost always sideways. Kinda like Top Gear.

Collumbian coffee in a  Burlington Northern  mug, please.

T-Steam-Fan, Polaris makes some nice products. Us old folks like the 6x6 Ranger for farm work here and sight seeing in the forest. Have fun and be careful out there. One of wife's patients right now is paralized and mostly brain dead from an ATV accident. His ATV rolled back over him on a hill. It DOES happen and more often that you might think. My 2 bits worth.

The (N) Bachmann Heavy MT arrived today. First off, noticed the bell loose in the case. No problem, I can glue it back on. Then test ran it...herky jerky. Looked at it close and spotted the problem, the part that slides the piston was out of place. So, with tweezers under a magnifier, set it back in place. Was really worried that the good price meant more "e-junk", but it works fine now. Whew!

Hope everyone is doing well today.

.I'm going to read over the colleges book, and see what else I would like to ask about.  I've had several people say I might like something like graphic arts .

Yup, like I said...seems you need a 2-year to change toilet paper rolls anymore...

My wife w**ks as a graphic designer in the marketing dept. of a community college. I'd be more than happy to connect you with her for any questions about the field, the job, the edumacation requirements.

Off to w**k I go.  There's a ribbon gonna be cut, gotta get a picture of THAT!

Hey guys, Just got off the quad today. My cousin next door got a Polaris Sportsman 500, and was riding up and down the property line. Well, I got out ours and laid down some lap times around our property line, about 10 seconds. And that was on a 250 polaris, centrifugal clutch, riding out all the oversteer on the throttle, and I didn't even hit top speed, 55 mph, (scale 1:1) Think I might of scared him. I do have a bit more riding experience than him, a bit. But I like ridding on trails and seeing things. Next time he's out riding, I'm gonna shut him down. He he.

JIM: I think I'd ditch the 91% ETOH and go with the brake fluid. I use it straight out of the bottle. I read somewhere how somebody "warms" it first. Never tried THAT. The only time I've had trouble with the stuff damaging plastic came when I somehow managed to neglect to return to an Athearn blue box hopper shell. It sat in the stuff for...2, 2-1/2 weeks. THAT one was crazed and quite brittle. As I tried to effect repairs, it crumbled! But again, it was after a rather extended stay in the stuff. I would think a day or two would be plenty. Testor's paint shouldn't be THAT tough to strip!!

ROBBY P: Going back to school? Not a bad idea. Actually, with it being too late to enroll for fall, THAT gives you time to decide what you REALLY want to do. Trust me on this one... The advisor will likely have you take an aptitude/skills/interest test or two... A lot of 'em are crap, in my opinion. There are some good ones out there, even some freebies on THAT inter-net thing. My Wife tried to make me go through a book called "What Color is Your Parachute" or something close to it. It's supposed to help a person narrow down what it is they really, really, really wanna do/wanna be "when they grow up." Some of the "self-assesments" and other "exercises" were OK, others just a bit too...."tootie-fruity" for me. Keep in mind, you might not need a full two-year degree... a certificate program "could" be sufficient (cheaper, quicker). Then again...seems a guy needs an Associate Degree to change toilet paper rolls anymore...

'Tis hotter than the Hubs of Egypt (wherever THAT is...) as my Uncle is so fond of saying. I have an open house to attend later this afternoon for a new Christian school in North Liberty. The IC Area Chamber of Commerce is attending and will be doing a ribbon cutting. Always a good "standard pic" to get 'em with their scissors and bits of ribbon falling.

Thursday evening, I'll be hangin' with the local Civil Air Patrol Cadet Squadron. THAT Editor had an idea about doing a story on 'em last year...we're finally getting it to happen.

Welp, RERUN thinks he has to visit the yard... I'd best get him out now instead of later when I'm trying to get out the door.

A good, SAFE afternoon to all...

ChrisEight Ball

***EDIT*** This must be my penance: I got TOP!

Order up guys, Rerun and I have got it covered.... he'll be taking your orders after we go fertilize part of the yard....

Garry, (pg. 20) those train folks has a wee bit of a problem eh? (pg. 21) That alyout is the one going up in the rebuilt depot; it's actually installed but the depot won't be open until Sept. You can count on me for pics of it, believe me. looks like they added the cut for the mainline (I'll see if I can get pics of that later on). They actually built the depot on the same curve it used to stand on. Now all that rolls past is a NS Geep and hoppers.

TSF, I'll probably be grinding out a few AP classes. My senior year is gonna be five AP classes. But in theory I'll basically have my freshman year of college done before I even get there and have to pay for it.

Chris, I think they would prefer to be sticking a vacuum hose in your pocket with that death tax. Nice CNW unit.

As for electric vehicles, I'd get one if it costs less to charge than it would to fill a regular car with gas. But someday I'm still gonna get that 1960's Mopar that eats electric vehicles, smart cars, and hybirds for breakfast and gives tree huggers nightmares at night and drive it on the street Big Smile

Keith, I saw the weathered bridge earlier, forget what page, it looks good.

Jim, yes sir that soap box has gotten a workout. and yeah, it's kidna nice. chemistry ain't gonna be fun. What will really suck is if I have to carry aroudn my spanish, english, and math textbooks; near as I can tell based on last year my locker will be at one end of the school where my 4th period class is and my 3 earlier ones will be in a line from the other end of campus heading back up to 4th. then 5th and 6th are at the same end of campus as the earlier classes, and 7th is decently close.

Robby, glad to hear you've decided to get a degree, best of luck!

Today I hope to finish my summer reading. Thursday I'll probably tackle my summer spanish work.

Jim......Thanks for the comment.  I just got back from the community college, and its to late to apply this semester.  I will talk to a consular next month and see what direction to go.   Also I went and got a new project to do.  I did this car awhile back, but I will post it once its done (kinda keep it for a surprise).   I like to have a couple of cars on at a time.  Right now I have three, but one ends tonight.   The new car will take about a day or two to do.

Good Morning, Zoe - a cinnamon roll and a Santa Fe mug of coffee please. Thanks. Uh, no, thanks - I'll pass on a skillet sandwich today, that's okay...

Blazzin
But Jim.. you see the forest pics?  No one talked about that, not even you~!  lol

Actually, Keith I saw them, and had already saved the forest pics (I've already used one of those in the past for a desktop pic). Just haven't got back to you all yet.  On your rails there, I have heard that RR Tie Brown is a good color for the 'rust'. Might be worth a try (or a craft color close to that).

W**k yesterday was, well.. Banged HeadBanged Head  Got done a bit after 6 p.m. with no lunch (unless you count going through a drive-thru and getting a sandwich in a bag as 'lunch'...), so that tells you something. (Moving right along...) Oh yeah, and in the process of staying late yesterday, asI was checking over my paperw**k this morning, I found that I had apparently sent the originals out with the deputies. Banged Head Ouch! Called the hospital and they didn't get the originals, so they may be coming back from the deputies later (I hope).

Now, back to you, Keith - I appreciated your info and pointers on the forest (even though I will only have one small area of my layout where there will be many (near the sawmill in the woods, as it were). Like that bridge, also (maybe do some mortar to highlight it more). Thumbs Up

Todd, Chris and others who've been following the saga of "I got the Paint-Strippin' Blues, oh-woh-woh..."Whistling - After another night in 'the dip', it's mostly only the base and some of the corner side posts where I've got the paint off. I'm about ready to see about some brake fluid. Any pointers on that (like how long to leave stuff in there but not dissolve the plastic)? I may see about applying cement (glue) to the joints and try to loosen up some of the parts so the stripping will go better on this go-round. Any and all hints, suggestions and/or warnings **will** be appreciated.

DerJohn - excellent job on that grain mill there! BowBow You da man! You weren't an engineer some time in your former (w**king) life, were you? (Ya, I know you weren't...but you couldn't prove it by all your outstanding projects you've done)

Ray, thank you for the info on your quarry w**k - I have a set of those colors, so your tips will prove handy for me. Hey, how much actual space does that quarry take? Ya got me wondering if I could squeeze one in (...somewhere...) on my future-expanded-and-continuing-to-grow-layout-in-my-mind...Whistling

Chris, I'd probably have had 'sweaty' eyes at that parade, too. Thumbs Up Oh, I hadn't noticed the gusset plates mis-matching any - been busy trying to get the $%#$&* paint to come off with the 91 percent. Maybe they water ours down for local use? Dunno... Hey, nice CNW planter there! Smile,Wink, & Grin

Sawyer - one word: Amen. (Saw the travelling Wall when it was here, also). Will let the poor, wornout soapbox get a rest. Wink

At ten o-clock this morning, we were already at 100 F on the heat index.Cool I think they're talking about 110-115 F for the afternoon's index...Shock Yep, August in the Midwest - all the heat and humidity that you can handle (and then some)...

Robby, I like what you've been doing with THAT Rock boxcar there. Thumbs Up Yeah!! Got another car ready when you get that one listed? I would expect that something in the graphic arts/commercial art/etc. fields would be a good match - you have a good eye for details and colors. Thumbs Up

Jeff, I don't see anything particularly missing on your KCS diesel shot. Great grab shot! Thumbs Up Now if Robby wants to start on weathering locos, he has a starting point from your pic!

Sawyer, I'd rather have my 'fun' subjects after lunch (when I don't have to concentrate or w**k as hard with a full belly). Wink

Uh, TSF - that's supposed to be "Freshperson"...Whistling

Garry, on that Soo Line crash - Ouch! Black Eye About hurts just to look at that. Glad the crews jumped in time.

Yeah, Vincent, I think we're in about the same boat on the layout stuff, and for much the same reasons (about-to-be-or-already-discontinued items, etc.).

CN Charlie, I for one, hope you keep coming by - it may just be that it's cooler up here in Moosonee, so we have more free energy than back home in the heat that saps yer energy. Whatcha been up to lately, by the way (MRR'ing, that is)?

Allegheny, hope you have better luck with your squirrels than I've heard some have had. They can be quite pesky at times.

I see our long link posts have got the margins screwy. Ah, well.

Missed MRR club last night, due to late w**k hours. Awaiting some MRR orders to arrive, and may see about 'adjusting' the top of that flat car. Oh, here are some pics of that Wabash gondola:

and THAT flatcar deck I need to fix up:

And I put some more loads in some of my gondolas, too (already had them):

Zoe, could I get a BLT and a rootbeer float, please? Didn't realize I've been sitting here so long, catching up. Thanks!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Well I know I'm a bit early for lunch but hows about a BLT fries and a tall glass of sweet tea.

Happy to report not bear sightings this morning.....lol more then likely young males  even though black bears are nothing to sneeze at thankfully these aren't monsters like Grizzly's can grow up to be. Usually if the smell food they come snooping around but with all the dogs we have I'm not all that concerned. How ever! WAR has been declared on the squirrel population around here. My wife is into this square foot gardening stuff where you (I) build a 4' square box out of 2x6 lumber and mix up some special dirt again (me) mixing the dirt and you separate you crops by 12" square sections hence the name square foot gardening Well being as we got horrible soil around here it's the only way you can have a nice garden. here at home. Everything has been doing real well, lots of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers etc. well she "had" 16 corn plants 12 of which had an ear of corn each. Well it seems the squirrels really appreciated my hard work and her ideas, as yesterday they went in a wreaked havoc on her corn crop and the little suckers had the nerve to sit on the railing of the back deck and look through the window while munching on their baby corn. If she wasn't so upset by it almost to the point of tears I would have busted out laughing. She came storming in asking me which  shotgun was good for shooting squirrels I ain't seen her that mad in a long long time. So now on top of trying to trap Mr. Gopher aka the groundhog from hell rats from my neighbors junk pile and the occasional curious black bear from thinking my garbage cans are the old country buffet, I have to exterminate a few hundred squirrels that live in or near our property and who says I have nothing to do?

Just my 2 cents worth, I spent the rest on trains. If you choked a Smurf what color would he turn?

Went to the scrap yard this morning and checked out a part of it where my nephew says there's a van like mine. I looked around. Took nearly 2 hours to look through an acre and a half. That was enough for me. I've been waiting for him to check it out for the past couple of months but he hasn't gotten off his butt yet to do it and frankly I'm tired of it. If you say you're going to do something within a specified period of time then you do it, not sit there and give excuses about why it hasn't been done. I respect people who do what they say they'll do but I don't have any respect for those who are able bodied, won't work and gripe about how everybody else owes them a living. I worked for over 30 years for the money I get now. He can do the same.

     "Hot Coffee*

Robby,  I love ~ your creations, its got to be very gratifying.

Now as for me.. I woke up in pain.  Yes my Ol' sacroiliac joints are flaring up.  Not to mention the house was a cool 56 degrees.  I told Jeanne I've got to turn on the heater.. I'm too darn stiff.  My old cat 'Crash' is liking it as the warm air flows in,  its nice,  maybe I can un-wind.  I said to Jeanne,  "I'm gonna go get me a Jump Suit to stay warmer."

"Great~ How bout a 'Crash Helmut too !" was her reply.

Chris,  How'd ya know I'd be exerimenting today with colors?  Remember way back when, I said it seemed the color gray would be appropriate for weathering the ties... well someone said it also.  Well gray isn't that great,  but it does serve as a base coat.  I had tried all the other colors for coloring the ties.  You really couldnt' see any difference with brown on a black tie,  other than taking the gloss off the blackness of the ties.  Now when I did place the gray on the ties,  all of a sudden you could see the lines and cracks of the ties.  Now gray wasn't the answer either, but as I said, a base.  From there I tried to take away the gray with some tie brown and that seemed to help.  Now along with GMT's tip, I imagine I'll add some grime black to the center of the ties to add some realism and depth to the over-all colors.  Just like you said too Chris.. its mixture of colors.  I thank both of you.

I'd like to think by the weekend I'll be laying track and on my way for more 'brain farts'

Keith
