To be honest, nothing. I have the models I want, and I have the quantity that I want, and there is nothing left to tempt me with. So, I'll run and you can keystroke.

Either Atlas or Walthers could do one based on their existing Alco switcher chassis, but don't hold your breath.
caboose63Illinois Central GP-8, GP-10, Illinois Central SW14, Union Pacific SW10
Too railroad-specific. Forget it.
What I would like to see, (as I've said many times before) is a decent model of an Alco S-2 in N scale. Preferably something with dual flywheels like the Atlas Baldwin VO-1000.
I'd also like to see Walthers do a late model FM H12-44 shell that would fit on their H10-44 chassis.
Darth Santa FeFor large diesels, I'd like to see the U50B and C-855 made. Athearn already has the chassis, so why not? For medium-sized diesel, maybe both the cab and hood unit Krauss Maffei ML-4000. Rivarossi made a nice one (and I really like mine), but it's about time we saw a new one. As for small diesel, some high quality Plymouth industrial switchers may do well. The only good quality industrial switcher so far is the Roundhouse EMD Critter (and I think only 11 real ones were ever made). Plymouth has made hundreds of their little diesel switchers, so why can't anyone make a good model of something so simple and common? EDIT: All in HO, by the way.

I was thinking the same thing about the U50 when I saw the Athearn's Veranda Turbines!

Some of these items appear to be simple kitbash or detail and re-paint projects. Especially if you want to create the "visual feel" for your favorite loco,
As an example, I have kit bashed both the SDP40F and SDP45. I focused on the obvious spotting features of both units (fan positioning reflecting V16 vs V20, revised front walkway (no steps) SP light package, lengthened frame, flared intakes transitioning to the squared end and generator details, etc.) and after detailing, painting, and some prudent weathering, that's what people saw operating on my railroad.
Or you could take it to the n-th degree as Mike Rose does with his U18B kitbash article in the new issue of Model-Railroad-Hobbyist e-zine. Good grief he even cut out hood door latches to be correct to prototype. He needs help. But the loco is nice.

Do people do that anymore?
I do, on occasion, but then again, my family and most of my friends agreed a few years back that I "Ain't quite right!"

V&A1533EMD GP-9s (not just phase 1 GP-7s like everyone else),
The only thing I can think of that's going to be close is the new Genesis GPs from Athearn...they'll be available with RR specific details too.
Can't remember if these are 7's or 9's
caboose63...diesel locomotives of the past 7 decades you would love to see appear in plastic RTR form?
I'm hard core Union Pacific but have a real interest in Pennsy - whoever comes out with a quality model of the Baldwin Sharks gets my money - right now.
I've got a funny feeling we're going to see these sooner than most think.....
I never heard of them but they are interesting looking

I'd love to see Atlas do a Alco C-415. I'd like mine in Rock Island's cherry red scheme please. That would make a most interesting switcher! Surely someone out there besides me likes C-415's.
I'd also be happy with some Atlas GP7's in Rock Island's cherry red scheme and also Frisco's black scheme. I know we had some Frisco's a while back, but more would be good.

Its been done. I think by either AHM or Rivorassi. I have an old one around here somewhere. If you look you can find them at MRR swap meets.
Just did a google search and Bachman has one complete with DCC.

Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
Well, this thread is getting a bit harder for me than it used to be, between Athearn, Bowser, and True Line, almost everything I want is currently in the pipeline. The only thing I can think of that is even remotely like and I want that isn't coming or already produced is an M420W. If I tried I could probably come up with a few more that I'd like, but they'd all be extremely rare things that would be nice to haves.
I myself would like to see more 'F' units, and Geeps. They seem to be seriously under-represented in the modeling pantheon. Especially in Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Pennsylvania, New York Central, and Burlington roadnames.

One thing I would *really* like, even though it isn't technically a diesel locomotive, is a nice model of an E-44 that I can actually afford. Bachmann / Spectrum already does an E-33 and I have a number of those. But I would really like to have some E-44's, if anybody's listening.
You know I have always been a Milwaukee Road fan. I hired out on the Milw. when I got out of the service. I'm always looking for Milw. road engines and cars and I don't have much time for getting undecorated ones and painting them, maybe when I'm 90, good lord willing. I would like to see more Milw. Road schemes like a GP40-a 38-2 and some of the steamers too. S2's-S3"s and why in the world can't they come out with the Milw. 261? I think that would be such a hot Item, have iit with sound and no sound. Well thats my 2 cents worth.
a few more diesel locomotives i would like to see in RTR HO scale would be NW-3, NW-5, "hammerhead RS-3, SW1200RS and FT.

Heritage:
According to Garry, the E-5's have only been done in brass. I've seen photos of his, and they're handsome as all get-out.
BLI did E-6 A/B/B versions of both the City of Los Angeles and City of San Francisco some years back--I've got the COSF set (and am finally collecting the Walthers "city" cars that kinda/sorta go along with them) . Very handsome locos (I much prefer the earlier 'slant-nose' to the later 'bulldog nose' on EMD passenger units), and good runners (and terrific sound, if you're into it), but I'd sure like to see those 'bubble-nosed' E-2's offered. Of course, they're so 'specialized' (only the "City" trains used them, as far as I know), but what the hey--several of the units turned up in SP "Daylight" paint, when the E-2's were supplanted by later locomotives on the "City" runs.

Garry:
Question on those E-5's. I rode from Amarillo TX to Denver on the "Texas Zephyr" back in the early '60's, and the train was pulled by E-5's--I specifically remember the fluting. I also remember the 'B' unit having a down-slope on the end to match the shorter height of the Texas Zephyr cars, which at the time appeared to be a semi-unit train. Am I correct in this? That's certainly the way I remember the train. This would have been about 1964 or so.

a few more locomotives on my wish list are Baldwin DT-6-6-20, ALCO RSM (Dewitt & Altoona versions), "Hammerhead" RS3's, ALCO MRS1, RSD1, NW5,
Jersey Central Baldwins, please. Sign me up for a set of DR-4-4-1500's and a pair of double-enders, one in green, one in tangerine and blue. And before this dream ends -- N scale, please...
EMD E-5A (CB&Q) and reintroduce a Baldwin S-12 again. I'd also like to see an Illinois Central TR-1.
How about the Baldwin Babyface units? And as someone else has already mentioned, EMD FT's. Plenty of F3's, and F7's but not many FT's in A-B sets.

I wish Athearn made EMD E units in HO. I e-mailed them a few years ago and was told they had no plans to make any. Would like Santa Fe, and any that the California Zephyr used.
