Philosophizing about philosophy threads...

Anyone actually doing some real modeling around here?

I love how I can answer an OP with a detailed tutorial and get no response from the OP (http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/t/173572.aspx), and yet these threads go for miles.

Philosophy threads have some merit, and I know years ago I started my share of them over here. But it really needs to be balanced with some real modeling how-to to be valuable. Otherwise this is little more than a giant crew lounge, obviating the need for all of those "Diners" and "Beer Barns."

Why would that surprise you from a member with 2 total posts? You can't really judge the forum by a guy with 2 posts.

Besides, you pasted a link to your site, it ain't like you wrote a book, only to be lost to page 10 in 2 days. You chose to assist, he chose not to reply, how is that this forums problem?

So... Clearly I did not offer up enough effort to expect a response. Got it.

I've been a member for almost 7 years and have 2700+ posts, so I'm not exactly judging the whole forum on one guy. That one guy is just an example of what I view to be an overall problem in this forum.

But thanks for reminding me again why I don't post here very often anymore.

I don't think that you are correct here.  I went and looked at the link you gave above, and although you are correct that the OP was on the rude side and didn't respond to your effort, there was another poster that said your post was helpful to him.  So if you expected to help one individual, at least you accomplished that.

I appreciate that... Was referring to the OP alone. But again, the point I was trying to make was the sudden death of modeling-specific threads at the expense of the philosophical ones.

At this point, having done more damage than good to this thread, I will take my leave.

I agree, although in the spirit of your contribution, "Tu quoque!" Mischief
