Evenin' Folks!
Chloe just a cup of decafe in a R&GV Mug please. I'll go sit in the back and relax for a while.
Spent about an hour this afternoon digging out some "sport" garlic out of the garden and anticipation of rototilling it next week. Yes I love garlic but this is stuff THAT came up originally from the peelings of garlic. It is not a variety which will grow into a good sized bulbs around here and just keeps multiplying..... Anyway I am very tired from the hand turning of the soil and then reaching down and trying to get rid of every little bit of it. This morning I went to the post office and mailed in my Sales Tax Authority to the NYS Tax office in Albany. Mailed it Certified Mail to be on the safe side. Then later I found the train room....
It's still there! Right where it was a few weeks ago......... I have a bunch of jigs and material on order from Fast Tracks which should be here in a couple of weeks. Then the fun begins. As soon as the first #6 turnout is complete, I will use it as a template for ;laying out where everything will need to go at the top of the hill Limestone Quarry. After I do the final layout, I will know where to cut down through the plywood to make the pit in the quarry and can start moving forward with the construction, etc.
Tomorrow I have the church planning Retreat. Hope it is a good and useful day.
Jeffrey, hope you feel better tomorrow!

As some of you may have surmised by my absence here today I haven't been feeling well. Order of the day was to keep off my feet and stay in bed. I hope I feel better tomorrow.

Good evening.
Worked most of the day, and now we have some storms coming. Probably not till 10:00pm or later.
Hope everybody has a good night, and I will pop back in the morning.

Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thanks.
***Garry, yikes, sure hope it doesn't rise that much more. You can always drive down here. Bring your layout and I'll gladly store it for you (and probably play with it) until the waters subside. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you & yours.

Soup and salad, please.
Our lake is still rising and is expected to reach its highest level in history this week end. Recrational boating has been banned at least through Monday. Some roads near the lake are now under water. The lake surface is now 369' above sea level. The top of the dam is 375', and obviously, the lake can not get much higher becasue of that.
Below, the lake is seen getting near the corner of the house. The white door leads to my workshop. The layout is also on the lower level. Normally, we walk downhill for at least 150's from this corner to get to the edge of the water.

Good morning all. Coffee, waffles and bacon please. Wow, Ray beat me in. I figured he'd sleep in after the hitch thing. I did. Finally got to sleep about 2 am and then slept til almost 8:30 Head is stopped up but I feel like I've slept anyway. I think it might rain. It looks like it could.
Thanks for the encouragement on the bridge and tunnel. Like I said it isn't done and the flash....., well if I don't use a flash then it looks dark and has yet a different tone. Kinda pinkish. Weird camera. Or..., more than likely the operator just doesn't know how to use it.
May end up in the basement a bit later for another layer of plaster for the hillside, maybe. Probably. I'll leave from here to go down there. More than likely. I hope.
Have a Great Day!!!!

Chris,
You are correct, but I forgot to mention the storm is comming from Iowa and the Dakotas and heading to PA and the Finger Lakes.

Actually the weather map shows a real nasty looking part of the storm heading right toward Barry! We should get some rain and wind from it here in the Finger Lakes Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I have a Church retreat to go to. It will be held at a very old historic church just outside of Geneva. They have a very comfortable separate building for their "Social Hall". This is a church planning retreat we have every 20 years or so where most of the attendees sing, "We've always done it this way before, We'll always do it this way therefore!" (The Presbyterian Hymn sung to the tune of the old Onehundredth.)
Today I mail back my Sales Tax Authority Document as I am no longer in business. File my "final return" last night electronically. So I am officially finished with the business as soon as I get the thing mailed. It will go registered mail......
Well, I best get moving and go to the post office.
Later!

KEITH: I knew I could count on you for a short answer! I pretty much ruled-out any chance of hemo/pneumothorax when I assessed the idiot. But the Mechanism of Injury (MOI) suggested a possible fracture, which in an occupational setting makes a huge difference. I neglected to mention I got my butt chewed on for sending the moron for X-rays the first time. When our linguini spined doc sent him for the 2nd set...and it came back with a fracture, I was vindicated. I think THAT's part of why they canned me: I would err on the side of caution, and it almost always proved correct. They would've preferred I just push ibuproffen (I know, one of your all-time "favorite" meds...) down their throats and slap ice on 'em. I preferred to do my job, i.e.: be an advocate for my patients, and act in the patient's best interest. I was told way, way, way back in my First Responder training "if you always act in the best interest of the patient, you will always be alright." Yup...THAT sure worked out.
Of course they then give you a test taking tip: "NEVER pick an answer with 'always' or 'never' in it."
Sheesh!

Gotta go, got "face time" with THAT Editor this morning, a feature on a new church in North Liberty, and maybe...a track meet down the road in Tipton this afternoon; IF it don't get rained-out.
Have a good, SAFE day everybody...

Hi,
I won´t stay long, don´t want to pass whatever I am having onto anyone of you. To say I am feeling miserable is bragging. Third night without sleep - I guess I should see a doctor on this one.
Have a good one, all of you!
Randy welcome to the diner!Keith, looks like things are coming together nicely for you….Jeff, steak sounds good, but this month’s budget only has room for Mac & Cheese and hotdogs, LOL!
Ray.. I didn't want to say anything about that trailer hitch.. but .. ya know~ I was just itchin to tell ya to try 'All Purpose Farmer's Stump Removal'.. about a 1/8 stick should have done it.
LOL.. Chris.. are you gonna wake up to something.. ~ Good morning reading~!
"KEITH: Didn't you do X-Rays? You wanna weigh-in on this? "
Sure.. you want it all? Mixed emotions on it all. But here's the long version.
1. I wouldn't have had the x-rays. There's nothing you can do for broken ribs. Well maybe tell you want you already suspected. But most people know when they have broken ribs.. and in the event.. the final conculsion would have been to have had a simple 2 view chest x-ray. PA and Lateral. In which they end up doing if they had found broken ribs. If damage to the inside lining (plueral).. or the membrane/lining in between.. i.e. next to the lungs,is damaged.. a thin gray area developes.. blood that is slightly filled in between the two linings.. would be read out on the dictation as a ;'contusion' within the chest lining.. and shows up as a thin gray line/area. Follow the lungs down along the lung verses lining..and the curve of each rib.. you would look for any break in continuity.. and the gray area shows up.
2. I hate to say it.. but If you did have x-rays. I sure hope the x-ray tech placed a B.B. on the area that you hurt. Its a medical / x ray bb about the size of the head of a pin.. or less. Then the doc can see exactly where the patient hurts. Even a leaded pencil.. and the tech writes on the x ray request.. 'pencil marks area' of pain. Not on the paitent.. but at least pointing to it.
3. Most ribs x-rays are not done correctly. In order to demonstrate a rib fracture.. you have to roll them up on a very steep angle ... to the point the patient is in tears. and would rather give you his SS number.. Even special consideration should be taken as to be done on expiration or inspiration.. or both.
4. Any suspected punctured lung would result in a decubitus (left lateral) x ray .. for possible air / fuild levels displacement. In the event of a puntured.. lung.. or a cat scan.
Ah forget it.. by then.. I'd be telling the M.D. "Doc.. Less is best~" "Lets leave it alone"
In the old days.. they would wrap em up.. and then the person could contain themselves without using too many muscles.. just trying to function. But then again.. most people would build up fluid in the lungs... and so.. its just best to leave it alone. Although.. If I had to get some sleep.. and needed some support.. I might consider a strip of Duct Tape.. "There.. that shoud do~" about two 5 inch strips. But what a bugger to take off. I wouldn't.. on second thought. An ace bandage.. for support.. but there ya go again ..running the risk of building fluid.
On a side note.. what do you think heals bones? Ever wonder.. oh sure.. 8 essentials amino acids.. (protein).. milk cheese.. but in the end.. running jumping.. bouncing. If you don't Osteoporosis sets in. I must admit.. It took a few years.. before I really realized.. even a 19 year old male.. soccer player.. breaks a leg. just having a cast on.. makes the bones weaker. Who so? Running jumping bouncing.. makes stronger bones.
So don't sit around.. go jogging.. and if .. by chance.. I can lightly.. back hand you on the ribs.. and you don't squeal like a stuck pig.. then .. you're cured.
Allied health personel believe that .. most people when they get health insurance.. run to the doctor for every little scratch. They run up a bill fast.
Most dangerous things in a doctors hands.. are a pen and prescription pad.
Tall glass of water, please.
I'll try to catch up this weekend. Had a very disappointing visit with the new Doc. About the only option left is to see this out of state (and very expensive) Doc who offers an unconventional approach to treatment. Not sure what I will do yet.
On the MRRing front, have done 3 pours on the wife's (HO) pond and it still needs more. Very slow drying stuff. Painted the fence for around the church, too. That's about it.
Still haven't finished building the last of the garden pots. Determined to finish those this weekend so wife can finish planting the remaining veggies.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Well its almost bed time. Thought I would stop in right quick.
Joe........Out for the season, that sucks. Hope you get better.
Sawyer......Forgot to say that your layout is really coming along.
Ray....I agree, nice rust tones .
Todd..... Nice shots!!
One more day of work, and its the weekend !!!!!!
Just catching up the last couple of pages...
Sam, definately on the prayer list. THAT F-word (No, not THAT other one! geez guys...) is better than the L-word, but it's still bad.
Randy!
Todd, nice bridge
Keith, I like the progress!
Ulrich, THAT sounds like fun... Hope you're feeling better.
Hmm, sound's like Ray has finally won the war. I hear cries of victory...
Chris, I guess stuff like THAT just slips through the cracks (no pun intended) sometimes. And ya gotta love geniouses like THAT... DOH!
Well, I definately won't be in tomorrow because I have a game (unfortunately, I'll just be watching) and then a sweet sixteen. I might be in on Saturday, depending on how much homework I can get done before the next party that night! Yeah yeah yeah, party animal, if you say so...
Catch ya guys later.

Hi Guys and Gals,

I just need to make this post and get it done.

ns3010They finally take xrays, and tell me nothing's broken, just badly bruised. Great, not like they told me something I didn't know already... So now my coach doesn't want me to play for the rest of the season, just so I don't risk anything.
KEITH: Didn't you do X-Rays? You wanna weigh-in on this?
RAY: Glad THAT thing finally came out! I'd dance around too, but watching TODD flat wore me out.
Evening ya'll
I got a package fo detail parts today. Bunch of A-line stirrups and a Detail associates kit for an Atlas U33C. I installed the detail kit, but I didn't go crazy with it. I just used it for the MU hoses and grab irons. I would have used the coupler cut bar, but several of the mounts got launched into the stratosphere. Next time I do one of those older U-boats, I'l get a few 18" drop grabs, and a package of DW MU hoses.
Also did a bunch more prep work on the car. Doing it in the florida sun isn't the most comfortable thing, but atleast I'm closer to getting it painted.
Ray, Glad that struggle is finally over
Randy,
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

ROFL!!!
Flo I'll have the BBQed Chicken Platter tonight. Probably should have a cup of decafe to go along with THAT as well.
Todd and Barry thank you! This one was not as bad as the one I had rusted in about 10 or so years ago. I swear this time I have learned my lesson! This is the offending hitch. It weighs in around 40 lbs. and is solid steel. It is rated for a 10,000 lb. trailer and can take over a ton of weight on the hitch itself. There are torson bars (already with the trailer) to round out the assembly. I cleaned it up with a wire brush and scapper. Didn't touch the crud, so I got out the belt sander and smoothed it back down to bare steel.
Hopefully the guy who will be pulling the trailer will stop by tonight and I can say, "Bye, bye" to it!
Chicken is ready so I will catch you all later!
howmusSuccess! The Reese hitch is now a separate item from the receiver on the truck!!! I just spent the last hour hitting it back and forth in the tube, adding PB Blaster a couple of times (it has been soaking in it for over a week now), and tightening the Come Along keeping about a ton of pressure on it. It had started to move a bit last night right before I left for my Deacons Meeting. Now I just need to clean it up a bit and take over to where the trailer is. Told ya I would win this one!
Yes!!!! Finally!!
Ray- YAY!!!!!!!!!!! (dances around a bit then sits down wheezing) Gotta go to work.
howmusSawyer, much improved photos! Too bad the whole room couldn't have been painted the same color as the sky...... I know THAT might have caused a, well, lets just say I know it would have been a problem!]
Hello
Randy ... Good to see you and welcome.
Sawyer ... Your layout photos look really good.
Keith ... I like the way the buildings and scenery are being placed on your layout.
Todd ... Trestle and tunnel look good.
Ray .. sounds like a struggle with the hitch.
I'm finally working on my upper level of the layout, and have been doing the upper bench work for it.
Lake continues to rise and is still forecasted to reach its all time record over the weekend. No recreational boating is permitted presently. Sunny weather is helping however.
Afternoon.....!!!
Chloe, meals are on me for the rest of the day!
