What railroad would you like featured in MR?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 9:41 PM
Greetings,

What railroad would you like to see featured in MR in the future issues?

I would like to see Burlington Northern in a model railroad feature with plenty of photos.

Thanks,

Mark in Texas

Has anyone at MR considered featuring Ohio Central with its roster of steam to rare diesels?

I'd like to see mine but that is a long way a way. It would be interesting though to see an article on "The Best of MR forum Members Layouts" where we could all submit the best photo of our layouts.

Any thoughts?

It might be the shortest article ever printed in MR! [:D]

I'll have you know I have all of 11.75 square feet of layout, and the next time you see it, it might even have scenery! [:o)]

I'd like to see a layout by Pelle Søeborg. I see articles by him in MR every once in a while, (most recently the one on laying perfect track in the July issue), but I don't think that one of his layout has been featured in MR since the late 90's.
huh?

Good topic! I'm in N scale and always love to see "today's" layouts modelled - yes! - even UP. So my vote is modern.

Ma & Pa. I know they ran an article on it 40 years ago, but I think it's time to do it again.

The Little Q club layout up by Chicago, or any Rock Island, Milwaukee Road, GM&O, or CB&Q layout. Might even take a BN or BNSF layout if they had plenty of Executive scheme engines on it.

I'd like to see the Atlantic Coast Line done. Especially in Purple and Silver. Other than that, anything modern/City. Everyone is doing the "wide open" layouts with farms and forrests. Show me someone who can make a realistic City scene , and I'll show you someone who really knows how to model railroad.

Southern, Mopac, and some more smaller regional and shortline roads. I think that the ficticous lines are neat, too. I don't recall ever seeing a Kansas City Southern layout.[V]

I like the industrial shortlines, and the Missabe, LSI, or DMIR, any of the ore roads. But I'd read about any of the ones suggested by you guys, cause they're all good roads.

I think more short line and short line layouts as short lines can be more easy to model.

South Branch Valley: West Va. short line, former B&O branch, and route of the tourist train "Potomac Eagle" which claims frequent sightings of bona-fide eagles, just an easy day's drive from Washington DC for the patriotic among us. I model it, sorta: I model a fictional railroad which was located in the same area, highly inspired by the route. Also, the Winchester & Western runs just up to the WV/VA state line (and comprises another leg of my fictional railroad), with much simpler operations but excellent old Alcos and Geeps and tight curves.

The Kansas City Southern, from Kansas City, to Port Arthur Texas, A modern, colorful and hard working railroad, It runs through beautiful scenery, has modern motive power, and until you have seen the KCS lug unit Coal, and Lignite trains over Rich mountain, between Poteau Oklahoma, and Mena Arkansas, you haven"t lived, awesome amounts of horsepower on the head end, with usually a pair of SD-50"s shoving hard on the rear end, It"s mountain Railroading at it"s finest, and a sight to behold.
