Strwaberry Rhubarb cobbler please.

Today was both a grand day and a unsettling one at the same time. I've been tearing down the layout. EnjowedConfused enjoyed it because it's progress towards the new one, complete with better ways I've learned. Sad because well, I'm tearing down the layout. (sniff).

Boy there's alot of stuff in that room. Good news is, I had to move the workbench so that meant clearing it offBig Smile. Once I get it put back together, I must take a picture. Then 3 hrs later, I'll take another. See if you can find the deskLaugh.

Good evening.......bust day in train rooms, still waiting for WS risers and starters to arrive, but plenty of other things to keep me busy on the layout. I decided not to use a swing gate in one area, the gate would be in a bad spot to get damaged by visitors and small children, so I went with a lift out. I bought some standoffs at HD, 5/16" and counter-sank those into the supports for the bridge, then I used 3/16" steel rod cut to proper lengths to use as guide pins. HD also had some momentary push button switches which will be used to cut  power when the bridge is removed.

DUKE: How is the repair going on 1225 Berkshire?

RAY: You have quite a job on your hands with that bench! LOL

ULRICH: Spring is not far behind, the sun now sets after 5pm and it doesn't get dark until 5:30, hang in there buddy .

OK, the LM pie and RB was just what I needed,  see you guys for a nightcap,

The state a few months ago chipped and tarred the road, and a dead animal was in the patch of the line.  Well the just stopped painting, and after they passed the animal they resumed painting Big Smile.   I guess I could have modeled that!!

Down here they would have just painted right over it or swerved the paint line around it. I've seen both.

Jeff/Barry........Thanks!!  I like the look, but then the wife just looked and said "shouldn't they be white?".  Confused I guess each town is different.  I've seen them this way, and the white line way.

On another note:  The state a few months ago chipped and tarred the road, and a dead animal was in the patch of the line.  Well the just stopped painting, and after they passed the animal they resumed painting Big Smile.   I guess I could have modeled that!!

Hello--

Got all the runnin' 'roun' doin' stuff stuff done--so now I'll attempt to get some MR time in for myself, lol!!

Robbie: My own take on the yellow line is that it still looks goods from the photo. I've seen lines that looked like that and usually the street was exactly like what you have there--no curb/gutters. I really like those boxes tooSmile

Chris: I had a photo that we took in St. Thomas ON that had a building that looked almost like that. It was used by Michigan Central(sic?) as their repair facility and I think is still being used by the St. Thomas Rail Museum. And from the looks of that facility it might have needed you to be really far back from it to get a decent shot tooWhistling

Imma still gonna try to do some rejigging of the yard---if only I remembered what file I threw the original plan in/underConfusedDunceWhistling

Chloe, I'll have a couple of those Quadruplex burgers with all the trimmin' and a large RBF pleaseMischiefDinnerSmile,Wink, & Grin---I'll be at the corner booth checking out the MRP2010WhistlingSmile

Then a picture of my road.  The yellow lines aren't to good.  My hands aren't to steady Dead.  I also added some trash along the road.

The road looks good regardless. I'm no stranger to unsteady hands. Sometimes I think I could possibly rent myself out as a drink mixer. Just pour in the ingredients and stand back. Just don't add any nitro glycerin.

Robby, the center section is looking good to me man!

Well, got rugby tonight. It was canceled yesterday, so we have practice today and tomorrow. thank the lord our game is on saturday this week! My nose got a bit better, weather has improved too. Took a Mucinex; it's working pretty well.

Afternoon all. Zoe, I'll take one of those mega-burgers, thanks.

Today was SUCH a CRAZY day...
So today was supposed to be a faculty day schedule, so we get out at 1:04. But it's a Friday lab schedule as well. Ok, that's crazy enough.
BUT. We got about two inches of snow overnight. And we had a delayed opening. So school was only 3 hours...
So we had two classes and lunch. I had double writing and double algebra (those are the normal Friday doubles) and lunch. And then I went home. Yes, from lunch. IDK... My school is wierd... ConfusedQuestion

Report cards also came. My lowest quarter grade was a 90 in algebra, and my lowest semester grade was an 88, also in algebra (the exam dragged me down. And I was told that they really are designed to bring your grade down. Your exam grade is guaranteed to be lower than your average...).
I tried to get on Powerschool to pick my grades for next year, but it got messed up, but should be fixed by tomorrow.

Our entire first semester of Theology was the history of the Israelites and the Jewish faith, since it forms the basis of Catholocism (sp?)... IDK. I did fine in the class, but it was wierd, since, last time I checked it's a CATHOLIC school?

Hmm, I see there's a discussion about beat-up boxes and shipping. I just got a box of track from a user on these forums today, and it looked like it'd been to hell and back! Twice!

I'll be hanging for a bit, since practice isn't till 8:25.

Good afternoon...man, those quadruplex grease bombs went down so well last night...think I'll have another plate-full for breakfast/lunch!Dinner

LEE: Yeah...your summation on the roundhouses is about what I figured. Unfortunately for me, the Atlas kit has the right profile on the side walls. The RI roundhouse had one more "step down" to the rear, and was roughly twice as long on the front...but this is a condensed version I'm doing anyways (it was also 12-stall, I'm only doing 9). Add to all THAT my current ideer to have it be a background structure...and it "should" work-out just peachy-keen. What also will help it appearance-wise, is that some of the "clunkier" details will be covered under Campbell's corregated alluminumumumumum.

The Walthers machine shop sure reminds me of a building in Creston, Iowa which at one time had a pretty large yard/shop complex. Not much left today Disapprove Here's a shot I grabbed, more of the locomotive than of the shop...Banged Head but it gives you an idea of what I'm babbalin' about. I worked in Creston for a few months in 2000, but didn't shoot much of the BNSF. When I was off-duty, I was mostly trying to get as much sleep as possible.

TODD: Huh?

Actually, I know all too well what you mean about hearing deficiencies. I think my right eardrum was ruptured during the '96 fire engine rollover. The med. records say "possible," but my hearing has never been the same in that ear since. Add-in having my ears "plug up" (like a change in altitude or a fast elevator ride) to where I gotta "pop 'em" and yes...communication becomes interesting sometimes.

ROBBY P: I like the coloring on your road, and yeah, lines are always tough. I still say those boxes look fantastic.

ULRICH: Old Buddy, Old Buddy, Old Pal...we need to find us a bottle of schnaaps... Even though you tacked up a very nice winter view from your apartment the other day...it was a "WINTER" view. THAT don't help a man's spirits, when all is gray and cold. I think a bunch of us could use a serious dose of SPRING (no, not the cat...sorry). Naturally, our furry weather-guesser in Punxatawny, PA said 6 more weeks of winter. Hmmmmm, maybe I'll send Rerun to Punxatawny on a mission to go get himself a large, furry rodent...

Have a good afternoon all...

Well here's a few shots of my building.

Got some graffiti cover up, a old wooden fence (which I wish looked better), mainly just old looking (the building).  Not my best (for now), but it was my first.

Then a picture of my road.  The yellow lines aren't to good.  My hands aren't to steady Dead.  I also added some trash along the road.

Then a overall shot of what the middle section is looking like.  PLUS.............I still gotta add more detail work, etc....

Good morning. It's 43 and cloudy. The high today will be in the mid 50's and rain is a definite possibility later today with a 15% chance at 1 pm increasing to an 80% chance by 10 pm.

I'm expecting a visit from a Home Health nurse around noon today. After she changes the dressing on my feet I'll be heading to Wal-Mart to finish the shopping. Whatever else happens today will occur of it's own accord. Some layout work is a possibility.

 Mornin' everyone!

Zoe just a bowl of hot oatmeal with brown sugar for me this morning and my usual dark roast in a FGLK mug.  I'll be sitting in the front booth watching the yard goings on.

We had a light dusting of "partly cloudy" last night here in the Finger Lakes so everything outside looks nice and clean and white...... In fact we are getting a few flackes right now.  May get a half inch of the stuff this afternoon.  Temperature here in 28°F with a high of 29°F so it should be a fairly nice day for early February around here.

I am sitting here at the computer printing materials for Deacons tonight.  Then I have to get to w*rk cleaning the layout room and the house in general.

Todd the photo was in response to photo Jacon12 posted about a year or so ago on WPF......  He showed himself at his immaculate workbench with a beautiful model he was building.  Whistling

Jeff..........About the only thing I can do right now is make the box, and cut out some white paper for the label.  Our printer is out of ink, and I need some INK!!  We have rollers at work, that is suppose to cut down on damaged packages.  Well half the time the rollers damage the package more than we do.  BUT don't tell a supervisor that.  They seem like the don't believe us Whistling.

Good Morning. Coffee please.

I ended up hauling more stuff for Mom yesterday and did not make it to the train roomGrumpy. But today I shall.

Bama- Yea, the wife sorts too. She doesn't say much about me not sorting. I guess she's just glad I'll do laundry also and separate reds and new jeans. You know we go through a lot of laundry for just two peopleConfused.

Robby- I like the boxes. Good idea!

Chris- The walk away and talk thing is very common here also. Also the talk soft and turn the head thing, especially in the car. I don't hear all that well under certain conditions and at certain decibals. I have trouble distinguishing sounds with background.........

I don't believe it. I guess I'm not a Computer Super Genius after all. Fellas I'm almost embarrassed to say this but. The computer just did tLaughhe same thing in the middle of the post here in Word. Checked out the functions of things and yep, same thing. This time I leans back in me chair and looks at the keyboard in disgust and that is when I noticed it.Banged Head There is a pile of mail that came Monday that is laying with the corner over the minus key on the numbers keypad part.(my desk looks like my workbench) My jaw dropped, I shook my head and laughed as I casually pushed the pile off of the keypad. Yup, problem solved. How in the world did I not notice that Monday night when it started and all yesterday morningDunceBlindfold? Where's that rubber pad, I need it.

Anyway Chris, like I was saying, I have trouble making out what is being said if there is background noise, rooms with lots of talking, machines. Whatever makes noise basically. and of course it doesn't have to be loud. Most people hear fine, me, it's just an additional noise that I can't understand well, unless they really speak up. That's one reason why I don't think I'd want sound with my locos. Certain noises irritate me and I feel that may be one of them and it is an expensive thing to buy if it does. Depending on where we are, one of the most common responses she hears is "huh?" Eventually she speaks up, then suggests a hearing aid. You'd think she'd just speakup. Or at least point her face in my direction when talking.

Ray- ha ha, my bench is as tidy as yours. But what I noticed more than that was your expression. It's most like what mine is when attempting to clean up my WB. But hey, isn't it great to have a clean place to work for those 10 minutes?

Jim- I just read your assessment of the possibilities for the computer mishap. BowLooks like you hit the nail right on the head there! Except instead of Rerun it was the corners of a pile of junk mail.

Well, here it is almost 9 a.m. Man, time flies in the morning. Best get a move on.

Have a Great Day!!!

I'm glad y'all liked the boxes.  Like I said, I will work on them some more today.  Get them to look a little better.  Maybe even take a picture of my old company (building) I made.

You need to put UPS labels on one or two of the roughed up ones that look like they survived being in the middle of a fight during a hockey game. That's about what boxes look like by the time they get out here.

Good morning.  Got some light snow showers going right now, but maybe a snow storm coming Friday.   Oh Joy Banged Head!!!

I'm glad y'all liked the boxes.  Like I said, I will work on them some more today.  Get them to look a little better.  Maybe even take a picture of my old company (building) I made.

Lee......Thanks for the offer.  I will have to email you later and get them.  Keep them on file.  Thumbs Up

Jim.....I'm going to try to work on the swamp today.  Add some more bushes, and maybe some lily pads.  I will have to see what I come up with as far as the logs.  Adding something to them would make them look better.  As far as the boxes, its just "card stock" paper.  My wife does scrap booking, and she had several colors of brown.

Ray.....I assume your workbench is like mine..........You know where everything is.

Well maybe I will have a quick war (game on the computer "Age of Empires"), and then head into the basement.   I will try to get some pictures up later.

Good morning all,

The roundhouse is coming right along, the most time consuming part of this kit is painting the details. I painted the inside walls Southern Sullivan green and it looks really good!  I might just leave it alone and spray some oily black around the inside peaks.  My girlfriend commented it was the same inside color of the old railroad station in town; however she had to remind me she was a very very little girl at the time.  I painted the lintels and foundations of the walls last night with a micro brush. I need to second coat the lintels and touch up some bricks before the windows can be assembled and the two halves of the walls can be assembled.  Progress with the machine shop is progressing right along with the roundhouse; however the machine shop has blank, smooth inside walls so I’m not bothering with detailing the inside.  Doesn’t really matter it will be in the back.

Chris; the tried and true Atlas roundhouse is a good straight forward kit, but Walther’s went the extra step with a few things;  brick interior walls, finished floors with inspection pits, extensions for the stalls, roof scuppers, and down spouts.  The Heljan was a good kit, but not much detail and the roof doesn’t open and there is no floor.

Robby,
if you want boxes I have a few scans of HO-Scale boxes you could print, cut, and glue.  They were freebies from Aztec.  The boxes are printed with general information and this end up details.  Some of them are marked alluding to the contents.  I think one set is green lettering and the other is black lettering.  Like I said they were free from the company (some boxes say Aztec Hobbies on them) so I’m sure they are free domain items for advertizing.  If you email me direct at LSWRR@AMERITECH.NET I’ll email you the JPG files.  I can’t send attachments through the MRR private message system.  If you’re doing N-Scale boxes I would just reduce the printing scale on the printer and go for it.  The ones you made look excellent!

That's prototypical for the USPS, can't coun't how many times I've gotten stuff with fragile all over and it looked like it went through what you described. So the beat-up ones needs to be positioned near a mail box or office.

Ain't THAT the truth?! SoapBox I sold a rather large glass powerline insulator last year and burried it in styrofoam, industrial grade bubble wrap, double-boxed; really went all-out to protect the thing. It arrived at its destination busted...big-time!DisapproveSoapBox Fortunately, the buyer said it looked like someone had really made an effort to bust it, said I had it packed extremely well. I sent him a full refund (theBay deal). He sent it back! I sometimes think the more you write "fragile" on a package...the more some USPS types see THAT as a challenge.

Good evening... I'll take some of Barry's quadruplex burgers...with fries cooked-up in beef fat (the way God intended) please 'n thank-you...with a bucket of Coca-Cola. Yep, at the RC.

JIM: I figure, they can't sell those wooden rulers with the razor-sharp steel anymore...too many "little darlings" would figure out a way to weaponize 'em. Thanks fer askin' 'bout my head...it's more or less fine, except whenever I look at certain track plans, I tend to get a bit woozy, start muttering incoherrent thoughts...contemplate getting a little circle of track and a Tyco choo-choo and calling it "good enough!" Oh, and negatory, on the disgronificator altering the scale of the trackplan... I yanked the page straight out of the magazine (entire article, in fact). I think it was one of their infrequent goof-ups. As for the triangular shaped, multi-scaled architect scale...I figure it will present itself shortly after its replacement arrives. Sigh I used to have a bunch of drafting stuff, until it was stolen one night at Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. I had a large tackle box with all the "art crap" in it. Left it behind in a studio one day when I dashed out the door to chase fire engines...came back, and GONE. The theory was a night-class reprobate must've taken it. The "normal" art students were few enough in number, and a close-knit enough group, if any of them had had my stuff...woulda been spotted instantaneously.

Fortunately, since Loving Wife also went through the same program (and managed to NOT have her stuff stolen...) we're pretty well equiped graphic design/drafting-wise. Her having been a sign painter and running her own sign shop for a few years helps too. BUT, I'm still gonna have to go buy another SoapBox architect scale. I STILL say the mouse has it...the one Rerun seems to have an agreement with.

Oh, and JIM? I doubt very much THAT Rerun was sitting on TODD's computer...unless he snuck out the door, took my truck, and drove to Illinoissssssssssss to go see MISSY!!!! Smile,Wink, & Grin

SAWYER: Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Zen... all pretty funky stuff. Throw-in Christianity, Judiasm, islam, Agnosticism, Athiesm, Druidism, Pagens, Wiccans, and probably one or two others I'm forgetting...and you can really get your head spinning trying to keep it all straight! Heck, just dividing Christianity into its various components, especially the many faces of Protestantism when you break THAT down into the many facets of Presbyterians, Lutherans, Methodists, etc.; AND then look at things like the "Four-Square Church," Amish, and non-denomenationals... Whooooooo Boy. What a circus!!!

Just marking the various origination places of the various faiths is a cake-walk compared to all THAT!!!!!

Well murphy struck again. Just as I think I got my car figured out, someting else happens.

No Sir...THAT's because you said out loud how well it was running!!!

I'll yield the floor, I see the plate of quadruplex grease burgers has arrived... uh, somebody wanna put the cardiac care unit on standby for me? Might need a stent or two and some arterial Roto-Rootering after this...Whistling

Sure it does Barry...  Lets see, yep right here on the inside of the cover...  ****Quadruplex Burger----  Oh, I'm sorry it doesn't say "Barry Sized", but it does say, "Barry's Favorite!"  Yep says THAT right above where it mentions the instant artery clogging........WhistlingEvilBig Smile

I have actually, more or less, or should we say "good enough" cleaned off my workbench.  Found an amazing array of little tiny missing pieces THAT I have lost over the last few years.  Probably should clean it off more often.  Now I have to clean up and put away stuff sitting in various places and tidy up the layout proper so we can actually run trains........  Then I think it might behoove me to actually clean the upstairs of the house as well.  Mop floors run the cleaner, get the cat hair off the furniture....  Things like THAT!  Might actually make it in the 2 days I have before they come over.......  Tomorrow I have to print a bunch of Stuff for deacons......  Gonna be close.ShockSigh

Garry, I brought along my bottle of the Finger Lickin' Rub.  Want some?

I'll catch you all later!

Night all, just about to get the clothes washed today folded and put away.  Just a RBF for me.

On the issue of home repairs/upgrades, we've still got the master bathroom and one more bedroom to finish for the girls to have.  Once they are done, we'll be redoing Heather's room since she's already staying in it and it didn't need any work done to it when we moved in.

Once those things are done, I'm going to start working on the shop and my layout space.

Hi Chloe, I'm back again - how about a Rio Grande mug of coffee, please. Oh, wait - in honor of Joe's 1000th post, I'll have a RBF instead. Thank you, ma'am!

Robby, those look good - as for making them look better, go here and steal an idea or two (they have some ideas in their instruction sheets THAT you can download - PDF files). I have their kit for the Nella general store (yet to be put together). Hope that helps some.

Cederstrand
Bison meatloaf with mashed potatoes & green beans, please.

Rob, do you have one of those on your farm? Dinner I'm guessing that no news is good news so far on your tests, would that be correct?

Now that Garry mentioned it, I'm wondering if Ryan's THAT busy with his webpage development and selling his Ragin' Cajun Chef stuff that he hasn't had time to stop by the Diner... Where are ye, Ryan? About time to send out the hounds to find him...

Garry, I hope you didn't let Shelley catch you scrubbing the floor Shock - NEVER let the good woman know you can do such things! Whistling

Oh, for those of you in HO scale, that link I gave above (for Robby) to the website? On the website, their instruction sheet PDF (I think for the Nella general store, actually), has on one of its pages, a bunch of tiny newspapers that you can print out, cut apart, crumple up and/or stain with a little black ink and alcohol wash, and have wadded up newspapers for your layout! Hey, ain't that cool! Thumbs Up Just thought I'd share that with you. I'll leave it up to DerJohn-the-N-scale-Master to calculate the reduction needed on printing for N scale newspapers. John? I know you can figure it out for all our N-scaler folks... Whistling

Think I'll finish up my float and then head for home. Good to hear some of our Diners' health has been improving, and will keep those with other needs in AngelAngel. Have a good evening!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Evening all. Chloe, I'll take a RBF, thanks.

I just happened to notice that this will be my 1,000th post on the forums, and what better place for it then here in the Diner! Just for the occasion, I'll be buying RBFs for everyone for the rest of the night!!! Enjoy!

Well, we lost yesterday, 4-2, but we still played a great game.

I don't really have much else to talk about, I guess, so I'll be in the back corner.

Chloe, a refill, please?

Ray ... You just made me hungry when I read your dinner order. A good steak and potatoes. Congrats on your will power, too. You did not "Barry size" your order!  If you don't mind, I'll sit with you and order the same thing. I know a great way to improve a steak. Sprinkle some of Ryan's rub on it first.

I will have you know that I do not "Barry Size" any order. It is right here in this menu, see?

BTW---I'll have the same Chloe. Sounds delish-------!!!DinnerSmile,Wink, & Grin

Hey, Sawyer  - ya know, if Chris pointed the cows' heads kinda northwesterly, and then lit a lighter or match behind them, we could probably guarantee the snow would head your way. However, it might be melted before it gets there to you...Whistling That Geography assignment almost sounds more like Theology class to me - or are they having you place on a world map where each developed? (Well except for the Legalism one, which I think developed about everywhere at around the time that twosome got the heave-ho from the Garden..."It's YOUR fault, if you hadn't grabbed that fruit.." "MY fault? Nobody made you eat it, you as good as encouraged me with that marketing sales pitch of yours..."...Wink) And as for some of the Eastern stuff, grasshopper - I don't think even a GPS would help you locate some of it...

It's geography class. however, the project is I think supposed to get us familiar with the different peoples and their mindsets in India etc. b/c that's our next area of study (in fact we took the test on Mesopotamia today).

After today, he can keep the snow after today. I'm actually now looking forward to the melt your skin off summer; at least that doesn't screw my nose and sinuses up
