Don't worry DANO, as long as it is locked it can't come back to the front page. In my opinion that's actually better than not being able to be viewed. Being able to see it serves as a reminder of what not to do. In all honsty, there are times when you want to look back and see what was said. I have had this happen.

There is a dangerous topic hanging out over on CTT. It has been stumbled across, and brought back out. I know where and what it is, and if it never comes back I will be very happy. I really should ask Bregie to lock it while it's "sleeping" to permanently solve the problem.[swg]

I'm suprised Bergie didn't just delete it, I wouldn't want new members reading all that negativity. I have ran forums before, it's a tough job to keep on top of one, but I would still just delete the topic and pretend it never happened and hope that folks mend fences.

And now for more gratuitous animations [banghead][bow][(-D][sigh]

Elliot,

The animated smileys were still working when I checked (at least on the first page of the thread). I also was a little surprised to see the thread locked, because I thought it had already more or less died a natural death.

I guess my "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" post must have gone and pushed it over the edge. [;)][;)][;)]

Yeah guys, this doesn't happen often. The problem was that one member made a comment that came across as being too personal. It sort of comes down to combining names with complaints in public. The accused person then responds, and that's how trouble can start.

There are a number of ways to keep it from escalating, and maybe the best is to remove one party from the equation. In this case the victim graciously bowed out. That left only sending a message to the accuser to stop the behavior now and in the future. I honestly think we had reached that point before Bergie locked it.

I swear, I did not do anything to alert Bergie. He found it all by himself. Having thought this was resolved, and seeing no further posts, I had moved on. I was actually at the hobby store when he locked it. Ironic ain't it.[swg]

The "Now I Know Where Everyone Gets Their Stars!" topic.
What was so bad about it that Bergie had to lock it?

The locking feature is really cool. No matter how many times you click into the post or punch your screen with your fist, nothing happens. Yet, it dangles tantilizingly in front of you. Now that is just an incredibly amazing feat of power!

Bergie's mouse is definitely mightier than the sword.

Bergie locking topic

This is my first experience with a moderator coming on line.
Power, when used intelligently, is always impressive to watch, whether it's Bergie putting a lock on an unpleasant topic or 3 SD-70MACs (preferably BN in Exec scheme)powering up to move a hundred car coal train.
