What I got this year is:

A Keystone HO scale 20-ton Shay kit,
an Athearn Ready-To-Rework AMD-103,
a Kadee logging caboose kit,
a Model Railroader magazine,
a gift certificate to my LHS,
a word that not everything has arrived yet because Internet Hobbies is terribly unreliable,
some shirts,
and a season of Spongebob.Big Smile

The AMD-103 required a lot of work before it would run, due to Athearn's poor chinese QC. The universals were popped out, the rear pilot was dislocated, the lights were wired backwards, the motor had to be completely rebuilt, the rear coupler box was forced in and cracked, the grease was excessive, the worms had an unbelievable amount of slop, and the etched exhaust fan grill is missing. I've fixed everything but the missing grill (I'll contact Athearn soon), and it's a very nice runner.Big Smile

I've started working on parts of the Keystone Shay kit, and it's going together well so far. I can't build much until I get the power kit from NWSL, but I can at least get it ready.Big Smile And I can honestly say that this is my smallest HO scale steam engine (my Rivarossi Dockside is bigger!).

The logging caboose was pretty easy to assemble, and its quality is about as good as brass. It should look good behind my Kadee skeleton log cars and either one of my Shays.Big Smile

got me a pair of very nice Craftsman hydraulic stools for my train room!

Regularly 80 dollars apiece , I got the pair  for 60 dollars total  or 30 dollars apiece delivered to my
front door!

Finished putting them together Christmas night
They adjust in heighth hydraulically, really nice!
They have padded seats and seat backs.

Santa's helpers left the following under our tree:

a BLI SW7 DC/DCC w/sound - PRR #9392

an ExactRail Gunderson 5200 Box Car - GM&O #50116

and a Bragdon Weathering Powders - 16 Color Set

The BLI moves like a dream and sounds pretty good too - it's my first sound loco.

I don't know if I can give Santa the credit or not but how about a not dead wife back from cancer surgery at the hospital and a not dead daughter from a horrendous wham by a drunk driver.   Train wise it was a very slow year, under the tree there was an Empire Builder game variation "China Rails" under the tree.  I got to (had to) pick out all the gifts this year so it wasn't much of a surprise - it was the cheapest train related game I could find.

I think you got the two best gifts anyone could ask for....Angel

I definately agree, those are by far more valuable than any train item.

What did Santa bring

Santa did OK, dropping off a set of 4 Rounhouse new 34' Old Time Overton Passenger Cars. They will match up well with the Bachman Spectrum 4-6-0 engine I bought last month. I gave my letter for Santa to my wife so there wouldn't be any mix up.

The Jolly one done brought me a Athearn RTR CR SW1500..This loco is a thing of pure beauty.I fully believe Athearn pulled out all the stops on this one and I also recieved 2 Atlas N Scale cars.I will return these cars since both are 40' stock cars and doesn't fit my era..Thankfully the receipt was included.

I got a CR sw1500 also, #9506, and a atlas conrail patched out PC boxcar

Well, Santa (courtesy of a surprise Christmas Bonus from my school) got me a really neat looking Rio Grande Atlas cement hopper, and a Spectrum 2-10-0 (which I have NO idea how I'm going to letter and number for my railroad, but it's so cute I couldn't pass it up) plus the Woodland Scenics Mountain Lion set (3 adults, 3 cubs).  Now, FINALLY, I can keep my ever-growing Prieser deer herd in check!  Whistling

And I got a gift certificate for Bruce's Train Shop.  As soon as I get back from Vancouver this Monday, I'm heading over there like a Barbarian at the gates of Rome, LOL!

A gift certificate from Tony's Train Exchange - I see a Tsnuami decoder for my consolidation in th near future. A Spectrum 44-ton with DCC on board, so I can trade bodies the 2-motor DC 44-ton that I had detailed a few years ago. A digital scales so I can get a better weight measurement on rolling stock.

I can relate with Loathar. I am so thankful that Loathar is back employed after a long hiatus. However, I am presently unemployed and there were no Christmas gifts this year in our family. My daughter did come through for her dad. She bought me a copy of Realistic Model Railroad Operation. I am so thankful for the small things in life when things are very tough. Merry Christmas to all!

"New Haven Power" by J.W. Swanberg.  Amazing book -- it has specs for every loco (including trolleys and RDCs) ever owned by the New York, New Haven  & Hartford (including ones it inherited from predecessor lines).  I believe it has at least one photo of each engine, too!  Plus descriptions / photos of freight and passenger cars, signature trains, and a section on artwork as well.  Train Geek Heaven.

Also a gift certificate to the LHS -- wanna guess where I'm headed tomorrow?

Also got a Wii Fit Balance Board.... is someone trying to tell me something (no, Honey, I really don't spend all day in sedentary activities!).  Kids got Guitar Hero 5, though, so I haven't had 5 minutes on the Wii yet to try it out.

You may want to throw something at the TV after you do all the inital steps to find out how "fit" you are.  It assigns a "weight" to your character and it also told me something about not being able to walk and chew gum at the same time or work on tall buildings!

- P2K BN GP20 in the Big Sky Blue patch scheme(had fun when trying to paint the rails and step edges white, the whole thing started to fade) Pics of the model after the "fun":

5 Athearn RTR cars, the last 2 I'm gonna get rid of:
- L&N single door boxcar
- DVS FMC box
- GRN ACF box
- MKT 50' express reffer
- MP 40' AAR box

Not train related; 3 shirts, 4 pants, a digital money jar, and a roadside first aid kit.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Since I started this thread, I guess I should say what I received as well. Santa....(my wife)... got me something for my "other" hobby. She purchased me a Rock River Arms 5.56 M-4 Carbine.

Gotta love the wife...LOL

Ahhh, Santa did good this year!

Trainwise, he dropped off:

    - P2K HO Illinois Central E7/E7 with DCC & Sound (the new "orange" actually matches the orange on all the previously issued light & heavyweight cars

   - Walthers new HO IC lightweight baggage car

   -  Athearn "old style" IC trailer truck

   -  A book on the IC in southern Illinois in the '30s/'40s

   -  A book on the Chicago train stations with lots of neat pictures.

Yesss, I mainly model the ATSF of the '40s/'50s, but I do allow some IC trains on the layout - as the IC of my youth really cemented my love of trains.

ENJOY!

The jolly old fellow brought me a $50 iTunes giftcard and 5 Atlas boxcars; 2 Evans 53' ft. dbl. plug door and 3 FGE 50' boxcars. And in other MR stuff, I got Great Model Railroads 2010, an issue of N scale railroading magazine, and 6 bottles of Elmers (I was running low on homemade scenic cement.) Also got plenty of Green Bay stuff; a throw blanket, little nerf football, and a Greg Jennings jersey.

A BIG magnifier light for my workbench so I can actually see what I'm working on, compared to the 4" one I have. And some decoders so I have nearly enough to do all my locos.
