Have fun masking that curve...

Yeah, that's the only possible concern I have. But I think I have it figured out. And worst case scenario, I just scrap that plan and go for a simple green and white.

Here's the basic plan. This is a (very) rough sketch of the unit. I was lazy and didn't even want to bother with anything below the frame...
EDIT: It's not showing up, so here's the link:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ns3010/4093711925

Note that the white curve isn't correctly shaped, and it will be even for the entire length. Unlike the BP4, the stripe will curve down and fade into the frame, instead of curving and continuing horizontally towards the rear end.

The colors are going to be CR Blue and BN Green. Also, the lettering will be white, but once again, I was lazy.

looks like a good paint scheme, but like GG said, have fun with the curve.

I spent maybe an hour or two today soldering, since it was raining out, and I finally have the whole yard wired up!

The ditch lights look great, Alex. What brand type/brand of bulbs did you use and are they wired to a decoder?

They're miniatronics 0.7mm bulbs in drilled out Details Associates 1013 castings. They will be wired to a decoder by the person I painted the unit for, and he hasn't yet bought a Tsunami for it.

Taylor, rained today a bit too, though it looked almost like snow; acted that way anyways.

Thanks Taylor! Guess you didn't see the link above, but I'll post the sketch anyway:
EDIT: It's STILL not showing up (not sure why), so I'll post the link again.

And that sucks about being hurt, but at least you have some time off. Last year, when I got a concussion in lacrosse, I had the "honor" of being my coach's slave for a month...

REALLY bright flash units! Tongue

I thought about Photoshopping the sky to darken it, but decided against it because I'd have to mess around with the sky showing through the tree branches...

Nice!!
Actually, the parts between the branches are, for the most part, fine. The shadow of the trees is probably enough to not need any darkening.

 Sweet pic Tyler.

Well, more scenery work planned for the layout this weekend. I'll probably be making a trip to the LHS this weekend; need some sculptamold and woodland scenics grass (no fake fur around here)

I like the new design, Alex! I do have a few thoughts, since you asked for them...

- The part on the BN section about the irony of BN's renumbering makes no sense at all. Hmm...CB&Q 502 was renumbered to BN 6242, and CB&Q 502's number was changed to BN 6242 after the merger! That's not irony...that's what you decaled on the locomotive! Perhaps you meant that CB&Q 6242 became BN 502?

Ironically this locomotive, formerly CBQ 502 wears the number 6242 which was CBQ 502's Burlington Northern number after the merger.

- Also, I'm excited that the WRS gets its own page! Wink You should add a link to the WRS website like this. I link to your website from my locomotive roster page.

The White River Southern Railroad is one of of our oldest customers, having first done work for them in 2006.

Oops, thanks, fixed that.

"Ironically the model, which was factory numbered 502, now wears the number 6242, the new number assigned to the real CB&Q 502 after the Burlington Northern merger."

Also added the WRS link! Now to run and hide again!

...now modeling a real locomotive is considered irony? Smile,Wink, & Grin Or is the real CB&Q 502/BN 6242 not an SD24?

The original number on the model was CBQ 502, and the new one is BN 6242. Its ironic because the real CBQ 502 became BN 6242. I was unaware until after I had decalled it that the numbers corresponded like that.

I'm hoping my trains will end up on TV.  My club was taking video for a TV spot, and  the only trains being run on my club that night were mine. my only competition is some old footage from a few years ago.

THere is a good chance my large Conrails will be up, and maybe my Push-Pull NJ transit train.

Speaking of which, i've coaxed EPIC POWER from the ALP44 in the train. It used to only be able to handle about 5 cars on straight and level track.   Now it can handle an 8 car (prototypical) train, and possibly more if the trucks were better (oiling only goes so far).   When i say handle, i mean it can push an 8-car train all the way up our club's long 4 percent grade, all by itself.  At the very worst, it slows down just a little.   once its over the hill, its rocketing at 125 scale miles per hour (yeah, i know, above usual NJT runs, but its fun anyway).

I've modified my Amtrak and SEPTA AEM7s the same way, and they can handle the long trains.  I haven't seen how many amtrak cars the amtrak will pull, but i'm thinking its going to need more weight.  Considering a typical SEPTA push-pull is 6 cars, I should have no problem.

I've essentially added an ounce of weight in a small space on one end of the locomotive, and used that bullfrog snot stuff to give the engine traction (don't knock the snot until you try it).

its totally worth it, it gives the pulling power those units SHOULD have had.

Oh, now I get it. But now it sounds like "I picked some random number to renumber it to and it happened to be right!" Maybe you should just take the whole statement off the site...

Nice Sawyer! Now it doesn't just look like a circle anymore!

This came out cool. It was originally an accident, but then I re did it (on purpose this time) and got this. It was hard to time because my camera has a lot of shutter lag, so you have to push the button at just the right time, so it took many tries to get perfect.

A couple pictures from today... SYRX Tank Car with light weathering.

Scratchbuilt Freight House. It's in need of a foundation and paint. The pieces of styrene in the corners are only for mocking it's height. The dock only has the braces installed in the portions not hidden by brush! Tongue
