Fellas, I've got work to do today so I hope you don't mind if I kick off this weeks photo fun a tad early.  One of my projects, in the last few days, was constructing this derailer from plans in a recent MRR magazine..

I have an area on a 3 percent grade that I needed something like this!

It holds one car in place easily and I have used it to hold as many as nine.  In the first photo I added the letter D with Photoshop.  The article is in the July '09 issue of Model Railroader on page 41, written by Olaf Melhouse. Thanks Olaf!

 Jarell......Nice derail.  Thumbs Up

Sawyer.....PLEASE take down the Gordon.  Instead, how about a Dale Sr?  Smile,Wink, & Grin  The video turned out pretty good.

 Grampy......Once again, a GREAT shot!!

Well for me...................I've expanded my layout from a 8x12 to a 13x13.   I know its kinda odd, but it would be easier for me/the space.   I still gotta add some tables, and a few other things need done.  I also added a picture of my new GP35.  Once I get the layout done, the layout will have a new member.  *No its not getting weathered*.  All the pictures I've seen of this engine are clean.

Great start this weekend:

Grampys--beautiful shot.

Robby:  Ain't tearing down and rebuilding FUN? Tongue  Can't wait to see the results.  And I like the W&LE diesel.  Hm, that color scheme and the lettering style looks a little familiar--Whistling

Well, the open-frame motor in my Westside Rio Grande 4-6-6-4 gave up the ghost last week after about 35 years of loyal service.  Remotored it with a new heavy-duty NWSL can and put her back in operation.  She runs very smooth and very quiet.  Here she is again on Yuba Summit earning her keep.

I spent the week re-wiring an American Flyer 1951 trainset a coworker was going to throw out. Runs great now and will be displayed in a store window for Christmas.

That's actually a Hudson.  Is it one of the original Paragons, or a Paragon 2?

Thanks. Robby, looks like you're making good progress on your expansion.

Tom, glad to see that loco back at work. I installed one of their motors in my RS3.

Nik.n, if that's one of the original BLI Hudsons, their upgrade chip makes a big difference in performance. I finally got around to installing the chip in mine.

 ...and it's quite prototypical!

I think the story is that there's an ex DRGW guy at the helm of the WLE now.

As for me, just did a little more work around the Roundhouse.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Wow!  Just WOW!  great start to the weekend already folks!

Jarrell I wonder if derails like that existed back in 1925.....  They would look good on any layout!

I have been continuing to finish up a few areas and tidy up the layout getting it ready to be judged for Merit Points.  The last major bit of scenery to do is actually not part of the swction to be judged, but will help provide the backdrop for part of the area that is to be considered.  This is the area at the end of the yard lead showing the abandoned tunnel:

Up above that scene is the trackage by Bare Mountain:

From a slightly different angle:

As you can see this is still in progress.  The bare trees will recieve foliage sometime tomorrow.....;-)

Thanks, Everyone.  Terry, it is actually an ESU LokSound v. 3.5.  The engine is the PCM version of the Y6b, and PCM used the LokSounds exclusively...I think...for all their offerings.

All brass, from loco to caboose.  By far my favorite train.

Orig. It was missing the decoder, and since I am using DC, I hardwired it to straight DC.

Keep up the good work yall!

Soon as I heard the engine Crandell I knew it was a PCM Y6-b! With the right speakers Terry, Tsunami has nothing on the 3.5 LokSound decoder. My is still running strong.

Agreed.  Also, nice job on the WLE GP35 with B trucks, Robbie. I have several WLE shots from Berea I would be happy to email if you need them.

I have been struggling with the north end mountains for weeks and finally said, "What the heck, at least do something."  One of the complications was accommodating screen supports to protect the railroad from the summer Sun.  Again, enough analysis and plans, move off dead center.

The foreground has yet to be completed but the background is a bout 98% done.  Need to dry brush a little hear and there.

I have some airbrusing and decaling to do this weekend, but that's not even started yet, so I'll post this for now. Adapted from the sign CSX posts at every railroad crossing with Adobe Photoshop CS4. I suppose I should have rasterized the text before using the free transform tool to resize, skew, and move the text into position on the sign, since it's a bit choppy, but I didn't... Maybe I'll fix it...someday...
