Hi from Belgium,

Yes funny but the basic idea exist here in Europe.

We have both diesel and full electric trains of this type still running.

Even in Dutchland around 1930 there was a steam like dooglebug., I think Trix or Roco have made a model of it..

Buy the ugly step sister.  It's still up for grabs.

I see the seller is in LA.  Zak you seem to be pushing the sale.  Come on, you're amongst friends, is this yours?

Oh no, you caught me....Yeap, by day I'm a modest MRL modeler who only cares to be true to the prototype the best I can, and by night I'm the Amtrak car slashing EMD kitbashing monster from hell!!!!

Jeff, if that was one of my models then you have every right to come tie to me the Metrolink tracks.  Oh wait, Not cool........We just had some one get hit today by the commuter train.  My bad

Actually, I think that San Dimas Southern would look great on the side of that thing.

put a thomas the tank face on the front of it and we're good to go

Nah  Has to be a di(s)esel face.Cool

I was going to comment that, well...  Then I realized that some people don't run seven axle articulated hoppers or really strange steam that looks Japanese but never ran in Japan or anywhere else.Oops

This thing is not for the serious model railroader, that's for sure.
I don't even like it that much even as a piece of whimsy or the machinations of an evil genius.EvilAlien

It's the kind of model you would plan on creating when drunk, take the plan seriously and build it when sober - latter, feeling an over riding sense of shame and betrayal of your fellow train modelers you pass it on to some seller on eBay who for reasons of mental instability is trying to take people of questionable taste for a ride by offering this, this creation at a joke of the decade price - dream on.

Well that's odd, but I don't quite think that's odder than the 16-axle diesel I saw once that somebody made out of two DD40s

That's not without prototype...

A very similar Amtrak experiment is seen in this video at about 0:32 in. It's not quite the same, but similar idea:

I don't foresee many getting any sleep on board on that.

Not unless the prime mover was some kind of horizontally opposed engine---and that the sleeper component was on another car.

I love it man, those are FUN to create. I've made a few, though they weren't powered. It's fun to jsut create a watchamacallit once in a while and let your imagination take over the build. And in the end it looks cool as heck.

Well, what are you waiting for?  Buy the ugly step sister.  It's still up for grabs.

I just think how sad to have ruin those nice cars.  I'm not even thinking that its at all funny.

Sad, so sad!

Clearly, the seller has this lot priced way too high, but at least he admits (at the bottom of the listing) that it is junk and probably only good for parts.  Based on some listings I have seen from sellers that are either poorly informed or outright swindlers, I wouldn't have been surprised to see this lot listed as "vintage", "custom", "hand built", "rare", etc . . . with a price twice as high!

Actually, 74 is about right for the three Veiwliners, and the stoarage car, let alone the articulated superliner
