A recent picture, the background and tipple area have been "shopped". The tipple area is still painted plaster cloth with a little ground texture here and there, I made this to view how it will basically look when completed. The tipple are will have wood cribbing below and behind it, and there are many trees, bushes, rock and grasses to add as well.

A beauty!  Was a star filter used over the camera lens?

Edit.

Actually no.  The hexagon stars are internal reflections in the lens with the long exposure (about 30 seconds I believe).  Notice there are no "stars" on the rail reflections. end edit.

I also had a constellation star pattern on the wall behind it but the "stars" were bright enough to show.    The thing that ruins the photo for me is the "sky" showing through the upper windows of the building.   I need to go back and put a black background behind them, or maybe even better finish some interior and put some of the lights on in some of the windows.

This was just a quick shot on an uncompleted test layout section, but there's something about it I like. Hope you feel the same!

A few oldies that I've posted before that I like, for one reason or another.  Cheers.

Some very nice photos in this post. Here is one of my favorites from my layout that unfortunately does not exist anymore. :-(

This is my Atlas (former Conrail) NS "patch" Dash 8. I did the custom detail and weathering work myself. My Kato SD90/43MAC is trailing on this coal train. I also weathered the SD myself.

Kevin,

What do you mean the layout is gone.  Man, I loved seeing your work and last I saw the layout it looked good.  Still it's good to see you posting on here again.  I still like the work you do on your fleet.  Keep the work going and keep the photos coming.

">The FP45s are blue box units I painted and detailed way before Athearn  brought out their Genesis version  (I think color TV had just been commercialized). Then about 19998 the good folks at the Mayflower moving company in Philadelphia lot them along with SD45s and F45.  I had painted and detailed all of them.

The SDP45 is a blue box kit-bash that was painted and detailed using an FP45 powered frame.  I have now stripped the paint to refinish as an SP bloody nose.  Any ideas on what to use for the rear end if I were to make a new version based on the new Athearn RTR with scale width long hood?

I had a hard time trying to figure out if this was real or a model,  and that rarely happens in any scale. When it does, you know you got it right.

Thanks, I really like it too but it drives me nuts that the guys in the lead engine are ducking for the photo.  Those punks!  I am very happy with the photo but the scenery wasn't complete and the tracks needed to be weathered.  I'm hoping to get a better camera, finish the scene, and take some shots that I can enter into the photo contest for MR this year.

I'm enjoying this thread and don't want it to drop to page 2 just yet, so I'm bumping it. By the way, great pictures, everyone.
