Wednesday, I picked up an Athearn RTR Bay Window Caboose. It's NS 557051, and I'll patch it for Tri-State (all I need to do is add the reporting marks, TSTR).

Have fun and Happy Model Railroading!!!

The last guy that tried to start WPF early would have been 42 yesterday...  Sad how things worked out for him.  They said it was an accident, but I don't know...  Lot's of theories, you know.

I've seen it start on Thursday and end on Tuesday. Why don't we just call it "Weekly Photo Fun" and bring Wednesday into the fold?

Good questions!  Besides, it's been Friday here for almost 15 1/2 hours.  I don't care when WPF starts or ends and I can't imagine why anyone would.

I don't know what has gone on in this thread up to now, but to set the record straight, back in March or so, Bergie told the user mods that he had received several requests from people who were too busy on the weekends to post during the "weekend" to extend WPF to Monday night or even further.  We agreed among ourselves to try it out, and publicized that WPF would now run from Friday to Tuesday at midnight, and then be locked.  AFAIK, that is pretty much what has happened since then.

I've been doing a little work. First, I lowered the new Micro Trains bay window caboose... It's not a Conrail prototype and is pretty far from it, but it makes a decent stand-in until I can get a more accurate one. I filed the bolsters down and replaced the wheelsets with Fox Valley Models metal wheelsets. I then painted the end posts and rails and weathered the car slightly. I'll probably end up having to lower it even more.

I also got this month's Micro Trains release of a Penn Central X78, Unlike the caboose which is an SP prototype, this car body and paint job matches the PC prototype exactly. I faded the car with some Poly Scale PC green wash, and then weathered with acrylic washes. I added FVM metal wheelsets.

I attended a train show in Omaha last weekend and found this Athearn Raritan River boxcar for $5! Conrail took over the RRRR in 1980 (the year I model) and the 100 RRRR Sieco boxcars came with it. The Athearn car is an exact match. All I did here was a very subtle wash of grime.

The only thing I've done constructive lately... since yard work season began, is build the Corrogated Iron Warehouse by Grandt Line.  In the photo below it's sitting in a temporary home.

Joe, nice job on the cabooses.

Robby, you're becoming the weathering master.

Dave, they are some great looking cars to add to your fleet.

Jarrell, outstanding photo and  warehouse, good job!

Nice work so far everyone, i really like that low rider there Dave, are you going to be putting in the hydraulics kit soon? Progress this week includes making a mess of the garage with lots of staticy pink bits of foam and getting the upper track bed gooed down and cutting out for the trestle

And doing the whole "Gleam" thing on the 2 main lines, i did 400,600,1000 and then used a stainless washer to burnish, have not done the polishing step yet, thought maybe it would be better to wait on that, but i have to say it does make a lot of differance in the feel and smoothness of the track, time will tell though.

Working on the layout=fun!

Making your wife laugh cause you have pink foam bits on your head, now thats pricless!

Is it time to run the tiny trains yet george?! is it huh huh is it?!

I've been pretty busy this week...

First, I constructed a full-size mockup of the lift bridge to my staging yard. The tracks are just to show the future alignments I'll use.

Also, I filmed a cab ride video! Here, we're riding along with White River Southern Railroad train 402, in the cab of WRS 1402. We sideswiped a boxcar with the high/wide camera load (riding in a heavily weighted gondola) and ran over a switch set against us, but that same weight meant to keep the top-heavy camera car from tipping over also kept us on the track!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdiV8zQewT0

In addition, I also went railfanning at the summit of the Mascoma Lake Grade (well, my HO scale model of the actual lake!) and caught power move 431, and manifests 402 and 403. 431 is just rolling by with two engines and a caboose, but both manifests are in Run 8 (full throttle) struggling up the grade!

Enjoy!

Enjoyed both videos Tyler !

I like the low camera angles on the second one

But why put the copyright info on the screen ?

kinda spoils the scene

Here's one I shot of my H-8 with a similar camera angle

Hello everybody. Great photos already! Nice work!

Here are some rural railroading photos for you. You can see part of my modernized heavyweight diner/parlor between the trees at the Prairie View curve. The second picture has the GE 44 ton locomotive hauling boxcars back to Valley Heights on the Hinterland Branch Line.

Thanks!

I've had some problems with people plagiarizing some of my videos (which I resolved through a long campaign to boycott and report the user involved), so all of my newer uploads include a copyright watermark to discourage that kind of activity. I agree that it detracts from the video content, but it's easy to get used to, and sure beats having your videos stolen and claimed by someone else as theirs... Dead

Thanks to all who posted photos or video.

Dave-> How about the Atlas Wide-Vision caboose for Conrail? Thanks for the information on the Raritan River. I didn't know that. I am modelling Conrail early 80's in N scale as well so I may have to pick up a RRRR boxcar or two. I will post some picks if I ever get it all unpacked from my recent move.

Tyler-> I really enjoyed the video, thanks.

Have a happy and safe weekend all.

Great work as usual everyone!  Tyler, nice vids!

Well, I finally finished my 2 Atlas Trainman this week.  I am still missing the horn for 5833, it's on back order, but I have added all the details that reflect the actual locomotives that I am aware of from the pics I got from railpics.  The chassis are at the "shop" getting DCCd and LEDd for operation.

Have a great weekend everyone and keep posting this great stuff

Hey guys, I've been home most of all week, and I've only gotten on e measely decalling job done. But it improved the car immensely.
The roadname is my private rail venture, the name is basically somethign ZI came up with that sounded important. It is however Kasiner Hobbies car. SOmeone with more knowledge can fill in, but it's an aluminum body, if that gives you some kind of idea. Nice car, has shades, but the diaghrams could use some work. They;re just foam cut to shape of a full-width 'phragm.

Here's two pics from run night at Naptown

The Atlas Wide-Vision caboose is a near-perfect match for a CR ex-RDG class N20. I have one. They're very nice!

The Atlas bay window cabin is actually even farther from the CR prototype. We anticipate that Athearn's upcoming N scale release, while again based on another SP prototype, will be closer to a CR class N7E (and will come so lettered) than the MTL comes to its intended class N5H.

back in March or so, Bergie

A bit off topic, but speaking of Bergie, some time ago there was a notice that he was leaving Kalmbach. Did this happen and if so who is replacing him?
