Its going to be a warm day. A good day to hit the cool basement.
Well did some window shopping yesterday, but the wife did by some things for herself.
Watched a great show last night on TV (National Geographic). It was about a scrap yard in Kansas City that was ripping apart two old KCS engines. It was real neat. How they were selling the copper wires, to the cabs of the engines. Two brothers owned the scrap yard, and I bet they were rolling in the $$$$$$. If I can remember the numbers were 605 and 647. 605 wasn't scrapped. Another company bought it, but 647 was........well, no longer a engine.
I will try to finish up the C&O hopper today. Just a few details to add.
Also I see a few are still talking about Harbor Freight airbrush. Well here's a shot of the airbrush set. It was $75. Thats everything you need.
I guess I will take a blueberry muffin to go.
Be back in later.

I have ICBAB protective cap. (InterContinental Ballistic Air Brush) If anyone use force on that side I will use this airbrush cap on them-------so there---HARRUMPH. As well I've captured the intercontinental ballistic pie catapault as well------so there.
Was there the possibility of there being a giant misprint in those instructions maybe? This might explain the odd placement-----

Well Good Soggy morning.
We had one of these "showers" go through that did a good monsoonal number up here. We're expecting more of these things as well today and then periods of rain tomorrow and Tuesday. Wednesday looks to be sunny with Thursday back to rain.. And the temps will be sticking around the 22C mark for the next week.

Flo, it´s just coffee for me, in a MILW mug, please. Need to get my eyes open - no, nothing to eat...
Have to save up me bucks for my next railroad project, so it is breakfast only on the even days for me in the next months...
Caught a lot of comments on my track plan issue here. I guess I will have to stop and take it from the drawing board. Might end up planning for the planning´s sake instead of building.
Anybody here from the tracklaying gang? Need to know about handlayin´ track...

Ok that's it. I was going to offer up a treaty of peace but I see that I must shore up my defenses of Toddland (of which I'm King) and schedule the test firing tomorrow morning first thing. Well..., after church. After the successful launch I will prepare an offer of coalition. Think of it if you will and begin trembling in your ground foam. Myself, Jim, Garry, Inch, and of course Jerry, WHO you may think are all kind hearted small town sorts, but rile us up, threaten the sanctity of our choo choo trains, talk invasion of the itty bitty plywood worlds we love, and it's HARBOR FREIGHT for the $16 airbrush!!! Oh they may not be interested now, but just think, if you miss judge one little thing and your "chromium plated, fully alluminated, genuine accessory airbrush covers" comes a plopping right in the middle of switching operations, you'll see a mad rush to Harbor Freight and I will have my Coalition! Never mis calculate the sleepy little central Illinoyz-e-uns and of course the surrounding area. Tomorrow will be the beginning of a new day!
But now..., I's seepy. And the wife says I have to sign off or I can't play with the computer tomorrow.
Prayers for those in need.

Yeah, you just might be on to something there Pal... and yes, the unit does work extremely well without the chromium plated, fully alluminumated, genuine accessory airbrush cover... hefty little piece of...something, 'aint it?

I'm letting my wife use airbrush on her paintings---without that thingummahooverwhatzit. It works fine that way.

I now have my airbrush!!! YES! haven't messed around with it yet though. I also got two of the three SCRail colors (the base color for the shell (reefer white) and the handrail/frame color (engine black), so I can get my fleet mostly painted, except for the third color (ATSF blue). I ordered the ATSF blue and some replacement horns for my units (factory horns+dried paint+hobby knife=new horns needed ) He is gonna check and see if they're in stock at Walthers though. I also need to swing by Hobby Lobby and pick up a can of thinner for my Model master paint.
TMarsh AmanaMedicglad to be the guinea pig for ya... Look out Chris ones comin' your way!

Evenin' folks!
Chris it sounds like you are already doing that test firing........ Hobart and William Smith Colleges are having their annual alumni reunion weekend here in Geneva. 'Tis Saturday night so the Fireworks are going on right now. My son and his family came over to the little playground down the street from me to "tire out" the daughters hoping that they will be able to sleep through the BOOMS! They have the pleasure of living about 2 blocks away from where they are being set off.... Inside the city! I did get to play with my granddaughters for about an hour and a half this evening, so Yay for the fireworks!!!
My youngest granddaughter, Emily, will be baptized in church tomorrow so they are hoping for them both to be well rested. Hopefully I will get to sit with them and the rest of the family rather than get stuck doing sound.........
I did a few odd jobs that have been hanging over my head for several weeks waiting to be done. Leveled up the shed out back so the doors would close properly. (Oooooo we are getting the whole bunch of stuff set off our there....... must be near the end of the show.) Then did some cleaning and putting away of stuff sitting on my dining room table..... even got to do some work in the train room. Put together a small Tichy Train Group kit this afternoon and got it somewhat painted tonight. Hold your horses will ya! I'll get photos when it is finished! Sheesh!
Hope everyone has a fine evening out there!
Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

And right back atcha... Rerun says we may have to do a preemptive strike. I told him, as soon as I finish up his new boxcar (Athearn bluebox PS 5344 ex-Rock blue CNW), then maybe I can test-fire the projectile...I mean, check out the airbrush.
Yeah, that's it...test the...airbrush...yeah (wind coming from the East...15 with gusts to 20... factor in a little windage...) Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe an early morning launch, I mean...test of the airbrush...
TMarshChris- Yep I had to read the instructions on mine several times myself over that one.
If I can get some stuff moved around/clear-out a space on the w**k table, I might fire it up tonight...with the cap off. Like you, I just don't see how it could function at all with it on. I knew somebody in here had gotten one of these Harbor Freight jobs...just couldn't remember who, and didn't feel like digging through 2 diners' worth of posts to figure it out.
Thanks for the input, and glad to be the guinea pig for ya...
TMarshChris- Yep I had to read the instructions on mine several times myself over that one. I don't see how the cap could stay on and let paint through. Not to mention the air would, should, blow the thing off as soon as you press the button. I think it's just a protective cap for storage. Let me know what you find out as I STILL haven't tried mine yet. I was going to today and I thought I had more air fittings but I guess I'm out so next time I'm in town I'll have to stop by Big R and pick some up.
I'm trying to figure that dang cap thing as well. I've tried it but nuthin'? I don't know--- I've got mine from Micheals of all things some time ago and, yes, those instructions don't really make a lot of sense-
Windy outside but very nice. I had to do an emergency brake repair this afternoon. The difference between a brake job and a brake repair job is that a repair job is working on the brakes AFTER someone else worked on them and couldn't get them done. Sooo... after learning what needed to be done I said sure I'd finish it, along comes the car and the parts. Car gets taken apart and the parts get loaded into my truck and back to the parts store to exchange the parts that aren't needed for the parts that are. I hate working after someone else.
Jeff- I've heard good things about Vizio's. Not from what I read, but from what people who own them say. That's the real test. Not some female dog fest on the internet where they only get responses from ½% of the actual buyers and only the ones who have a problem bother writing in. We are looking at the same brand and maybe that size or about 42" (?) somewhere in that area for our basement. The old, old Big screen, rear projection is just about to hang up it's spurs. Color needs refilled,(whatever that means) or the lights need replaced depending on what repair service you talk to, and the adjustment to make it clear as opposed to blurry, well the estimates range from the price of a new Vizio to "who boy I can buy two Vizios for that!"

Good Evening such as that is----
I have to clear the camera from the who knows how many pix I took around the Beachville area. Then I'm going to have to find which ones are useful enough to post up here and see what you guys think. We discovered that the west mill site is temporarily shut down and the spur being used to store some autoracks. I saw one CN engine dragging approx 44 autoracks( all empty) towards Woodstock where there is supposedly someplace to store them---(east end spurs from old Kelsey Hayes plant?). Much of the quarry site is off limits to vistors as there are times when blasting occurs so moi( having official permish---) waits until days like today to do this perimeter stuff. Hopefully they will not argue with me tomorrow/monday--

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Good afternoon all,
ULRICH: Welcome! I recall seeing a thread you had going trying to design an around the room layout...Clinton Subdivision, I think you called it. I ended up snagging a lot of the track plans presented, some good stuff there. Sorry to hear of your troubles, I think you'll find you're in very good company here in the Diner.
JEFF: Be sure to keep us posted on your mother's condition, I'd say pulling the tube is a very good sign. Of course, now she'll be able to lay Indian curses upon the world regarding her hair situation... If she gets too fiesty, they could always sedate/re-intubate...
GARRY: Man, I love the shot of the CB&Q E-5 with crew on the crossing...nice work!
With some hesitation, I journeyed to Harbor Freight in Cedar Rapids today, and picked up the "Deluxe Air Brush Kit" and a 1/8 hp Airbrush Compressor. The brush is quite the departure from the el-cheapo plastic jobs by Testors I've had in the past. In fact, it already has my ignorance level at red-line. They have a "protective cap" on the front, which seems like it needs to come off to spray anything. But, the only mention in the destructions manual (all in English!) Is: "For extra-fine spray, remove the Protective Cap and hold the Air Brush nearer the work surface." The "protective cap" is a bullet shaped chrome cap, with two very thin slots on either side. Am I to take it the paint sprays out from the slots??? It just seems to me that the cap needs to be off, regardless of the spray desired.
Any ideers?? Like I said, my ignorance on this is staggering. Other than scratching my head on the "Protective Cap," it seems otherwise pretty straight-forward. The compressor comes with a regulator and water trap/filter already installed. Hopefully, for $49.99, I did OK with it. The airbrush set was only $15.99...less than the el-cheapo Testors sets I used to use before pitching them in disgust.
I think I'll go hang out in the corner, have me a RBF, and dig through the materials that came with this stuff another time or two...
Good afternoon.
Ulrich, welcome to the diner and "guten tag"!
I was operating some Santa Fe train this morning such as in the photo. Also, I worked on the E5 I included in WPF. Now, the E5 has a crew in its cab.
Went to Wal-Mart to look at the TV's. I've picked out a 37" Vizio HDTV that has a price tag of $597. I'll be able to get it on my Wal-Mart credit card. First I have to get rid of my old 27" Hitachi TV. My nephew says he can use it in his pool (billiards) room. I told him to bring a friend. That beast is heavy!
Afternoon All...Its sunny and 76 here...I'll have a RBF to go..."Ole' Arther" is kicking me today so setting here isn't to pleasant and I'm headed back to my recliner...You all have a good one...Jerry
Coffee in a SOUTHERN PACIFIC mug, please & thanks!
Will be in the corner booth working on this caffeinated elixir of life.
Have a good day y'all.
Rob
We forgot to guess on how long (pages) the Cost of the Hobby thread would last before getting locked.
Robby P.Well I think I found something we could add to the "diner". Two of our cats was sitting in the window sill, and maybe we can add them to the "diner". Plus thats two less animals I will have to clean after .
Ya might want to talk to Mr. Rerun about THAT idea...
Good morning everybody from cold and wet Eastern Iowa. The Clarence City-Wide Garage Sales are/is today, I'm sure a lot of soggy, and unhappy campers. Not seeing as much traffic as usual for one of these. My neighbor was sitting out earlier, in a lawn chair, in his coat and hat...in the rain. It was one of the most pathetic things I've seen in awhile. The wife and I toyed with the idea of getting in on the action this year...decided against it. I'm glad!
Have a good 'un, Rerun and I will be in the back. I'm having a stack of pancakes, he'll take some bacon...and I think he's looking for CATS...
JimRCGMO PC maybe on the leatherw**king it's just the pleasure of messin' about with your hands, or the feel of leather. I have a guitar strap (very simple, straight pieces with some cut (rounded) corners that I made when I was in the Navy in Memphis area. I also made another more ornate (tooled/carved leaf and vine type) one, but didn't keep that, ended up giving/trading it to one of my guitar buddies back a ways. Enjoy your weekend - any bikeriding in your plans?

I've thought about doing a guitar strap or two, but just never got around to it. I've made some belts though, and thats very similar. And I think you're right about working with your hands. There's also the psychological aspect....all day long I have to conform to rules and have others guide a lot of my actions. Then I come home and the leather does what I tell it to do! I made some lever covers a while back, but I didn't really care for the leather I used. The beadwork came out pretty decent though.

I'll probably do some beadwork to these new ones too, but for right now, I'm just glad I've got some quality leather on there. I'll mess with the beads later. But for today......it's time to RIDE!
