Tall glass of cool lemon water, please.

***Tom, fine looking cats there. I'm curious, what/where is the wallrus in the background made of & from?? Carved wood perhaps?

***Chris, Rerun sure looks ready to play.

Had hay delivered today. A few of the bales were obviously this years and excellent. Those horses who get that stuff will be mighty happy. I was sorry to get stuck with the remainder of last years though. Some of it will go to the cows.

Had some bad spells today but am feeling reasonable tonight. Time to hit the hay here. Have a good one y'all. Cowboy Rob

I'll add to my earlier post. I know there are a bunch of chowhounds here, and I'll have to rub this in. Shelley just returned from Paducah where she went shopping with a friend. She stopped at the bakery there that has absolutely great scrumptious goodies. My favorite apple turnover is made there, and Shelley brought some to me. Are those ever good!!!!!!! The pastry is as good as any. There is an abundance of terrific apple filling. To top it off, the apple turnovers have a thick layer of cinnamon on top with pecans mixed in. Also, each apple turnover is huge! ........DinnerWhistling ...burp.......

Garry - thanks for the reminder; I think I have some kind of matte spray around. And congrats on another grandchild! Smile

Oh, wanted to ask if anyone has received their July MR issue yet. I'm looking forward to that article about making a railroad small town. Should be good, from the looks of the preview.

Well, color/colour me gone, folks. See you in the morning, I hope.

Good Evening .......

CN Charlie said:  "Say, I just realized that I made a comment about a boxcar not being the right colour. Does that make me a RIVET COUNTER???  Anyway there's nothing wrong with counting rivets, and in fact it could even be theraputic. Far better than sheep and still within the the hobby." That makes sense. Who likes counting sheep? However, look at the diners. Rivet Counters? No. Sheep Counters? No. Kitchen Counters? YES! .... Look at all that food people eat. Kitchen counters win! Big Smile

Paul... Sorry to learn about Mary Ann's continuing problems with kideney disease. Prayers for Mary Ann.

Ray ... Nice of you to sahre the concert story with us. Did you get emotional? Goose Bumps?

Morgan ... That certainly is good news.

Ryan ...Glad you stopped by the diner. Looking forward to our NC trip.

Rob.... Interesting about your family history.

Jim CG ... I think Jeff mentioned using matte spray which is less expensive than dull coat. I have used matte spray too, and it works fine.

Tom White.... I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Everything comes out in the end so to speak, but I hope you get well very soon. Keep us posted.... well not to many details, please....

I mentioned NC. Shelley and I will be there over father's day weekend. My son now lives there not real far from Ryan.

Other news. I'll disclose we have fifth grandchild on the way. This is with our daughter near Detroit. We first learned of the news when in MI last time. We found out the day after I saw Duke there.  Today, we learned the ultra sound says it is a boy. Time to get the wood train set ready. We have five adult kids, and are beginning to see the need for keeping a score card for all the stuff going on.

Happy Model Railroading!

Evening, Diners, Chloe. I'll just have a cup of hot cocoa, please 'n' thanks.

Paul, you're right - they need something better for Mary Ann, that works well for her dialysis. Is she in the hospital until they can get the site on her arm ready (and the chest one cleaned and closed up)? Will keep you both in my prayers (still). Got to be tough on both of you.

Ryan, good also to hear that your father (and Jeff's Thumbs Up) is (are) doing better. You guys keep 'em on track with whatever their doctor told them to be doing (meds, rest, etc.).

And Jeff, that's a whale of a lot of rain (and the hail ain't nothin' to sneeze at, either)! Believe you me, I can definitely understand the 'Layout as temp storage area' concept (from personal experience). Whistling I think I have four partially completed projects on it right now, and I really need it cleared off so I can check track gauge and get to wiring things up...

Galaxy, just for the safety of not wondering if the check is late, or if someone got to it before you did, you might consider the Direct Deposit thingee (seriously..). I get my paycheck DD'ed, and there are even some times when I just check online at my bank to see if I have the money before I head out for the day. It can be good for avoiding too many of those Oops moments, "If ya know what I mean, Vern?" Smile,Wink, & Grin

And I'll second that "I am sooooo tired of rain" comment, whoever made it first. Beginning to think about moving to Seattle again for less wet weather...

Jerry, I like your shot of that NP switcher - but I like the NP color scheme on their switchers (I have one in HO scale about like yours). Yeah!!

Ray, hope they have your truck all ship-shape this time (and that you don't have to unload too many of those dead prez'es). Yeah, those Marklins could be worth a bunch if they're in good shape and all. I think that was very touching for them to vocally thank you for all the times you've helped (and all the people whose lives you've touched) across the years. Bow Diners, lift a glass for music teachers everywhere - those who are 'retiring', or never-retiring (in BridgeTom's case)!

Lee, let me know what you find out about who might have made those boxcars of mine. The bottom is one metal piece (and the trucks attached with small screws, plus smaller screws for attaching the plates to the coupler pockets). I'm not sure that they'd be 1960's (unless they are much older and left from my first train layout in the 50's, perhaps), as until the late 1970's I didn't have much of any model railroading stuff. Then we had a hobby shop in the town where we lived. That was when I started accumulating track, an engine or two and freight car (a lot of BB kits). Oh, on your MRR club, that sounds about like our MRR club - not usually assigned tasks, but whoever wants to w**k on (or learn) some particular task. When we get to ballasting the track (there's about 300 feet of mainline track), I will be doing some to learn how to do it for my layout (and hopefully learn it right). Notice I didn't say, however, that I was going to do ALL of it myself... Whistling

And was that Morgan I saw, doing leapfrogs and cartwheels out the door as I came in? Boy, I think I remember getting that excited when I was in school and we got out for the summer (or I think I almost remember....).Zzz Ah, where did the energy go?

Robby, I will be looking forward to seeing some more of your weathering jobs. Yeah!!Bow A little inspiration going into the weekend could be very good.

Barry, maybe your niece was doing like those people who count the number of cricket chirps in a time period to tell what the air temperature is...?

Gee, we need to figure out how to not have all our Diners' relatives going into the hospitals. I mean, I know it might be good for the economy in general, but it's kinda hard on the specific family and their economy...

BridgeTom, maybe your shortage of underbrush was a 'salad' for your furry visitor that you surprised? Smile,Wink, & Grin Hope you get more rain than lightning out of the current bunch of storms. Maybe get a little start on keeping things wet up there by you. Good to see Spooky and Uff-Dah showing off again, too. Smile

Oh, I found out this morning why I had that big closed block of time yesterday morning on my w**k schedule. I looked at my schedule for today and was wondering where my eye doctor's appointment time I asked them to block out for me was. Turned out my 9:20 a.m. appointment was YESTERDAY morning. Oops Banged Head So, I called and re-scheduled another appointment with the Dr's office, for the 22nd when I'm taking the whole day off with ETO. Maybe I can remember that one...Sigh

About time for me to head on home for tonight. Glad tomorrow's Friday, though wish I had more money available, with it being H-L's "40 percent off" coupon week...

[Edit] And that's what I get for going long-winded with my post. Okay, Chloe, start my total and I'll see about the damages in the morning.

Blessings, prayers and a good night's rest for all,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good Evening, hope all are well...or on their way to being so.

Finished up the week's stuff for THAT editor, got the weekly "face time" tomorrow as usual. She's getting photo-heavy features from a high school graduation, a Memorial Day service, and a tour of a new high school. She should be happy. I'm also finally turning in a profile piece on a financial services guy. He sent my article to his "compliance" people for approval. They finally kicked it back as "denied" and sent their own bland press release on the guy instead. THAT editor is livid. At this point, she's probably gonna just sit on both articles...and let the home company keep buying advertising rather than give them (via him) a half-page of free advertising with the profile.

JEFF: the U-Boat rebuild looks really cool...and the CAT logo really adds to it in my opinion.Thumbs Up

Not to resuscitate the dead equine...only to flog it again...but my in-progress cement hopper would drive the rivet obsessed/hyper critical rabid prototype modelers into a tizzy: I should be using the Proto PS-2 hopper rather than an Athearn (for proper rib spacing, plus the prototype used the model Proto is based on), and the decals by Herald King are for a 2-bay ACF Center Flo...rather than the PS rebuild. BUT, it "looks right," and that's good enough for me. Pics when/if I ever get it done. I'm battleing the end numbers. It used to be a minor challenge to cut out each little number and apply them...now it's a lot tougher. Aging SUCKS.

Hey, saw some cats in here earlier...my fuzzy buddy Rerun Florian, decided to stop in and try to clear them OUT...

Rerun and I will be in the back consuming burgers, if you need us...

Evenin'........

Zoe, got anything hanging around around under the counter stronger than sweet tea?  I could use a bit in a coffee mug I think.  Oh yeh that Bourbon there would be fine!  Thank you.

Tonight was more or less my farewell to the Music Dept. at school.  This is the last concert I will be doing sound for (Only Graduation next month is left) and it was a good one.  Both the 6th. grade band and the 7th. and 8th. grade band were great.  The last number by the the older band was, "The Great Locomotive Chase"..........  Right before they played it the director went to the mic and went through the Thank You list as he always does.  Other teachers, administration, parents who help with things, etc.  He ends with, "but most of all I want to thank my friend and mentor for the last 21 years who is sitting at the soundboard doing his last concert for us.....  Most of the parents in the audience were my students way back when.  I got a standing ovation from the audience, the other music teachers and the kids.........  "What a Long, Strange Trip its Been!"

I have spent 48 years of my life as a professional musician.  I started the summer between my Freshman and Sophmore years in High School.  The first time I got paid for singing was for a Sunday Service in the Methodist Church in Canandaigua.  My piano teacher was the organist and she wanted me to sing a solo for one of their summer services.  Got paid $5.  Thought I was rich..........Whistling  Well i may have more time for the layout.  On the other hand there are a few things I've always wanted to do, like hang gliding........  Hmmmmm.  maybe not.

I'll be in the back with the other "old" musicians finishing my "coffee" and talking old times....................

(edit)  Tom you snuck in while I "Waxing Eloquent"  (that's my truck - the last one was called Anacrusis!  Old musicians humor....)  Maybe some of this bourb..... ah.... coffee might help you.  Love your cats!  They are very regal looking.

Afternoon all from TropicalStormCal:

Thunderheads moved in about an hour ago and are hovering over the valley and blasting the Sierra.  We didn't think the clouds would get this far west into the Valley, but they're hovering over us with a kind of "Guess What We've Got For You" atmosphere (very still and quiet) and I think that by this evening, they'll probably let go.

We had 400 lightning strikes counted up in the Sierra yesterday, but we also had monsoonal rain accompanying the storms, so hopefully any fires from the strikes will have either be drowned or so slow-setting that the Forest Service can get to them before they take off.

I worked my way through college up in Truckee during the summers for the Forest Service, so I know that those little devils can kind of hide and smolder for days before taking off.  But late May is WAY too early around here--this is usually a late June-July kind of thing.

Well, still getting the results back from the lab tests.  I've found out that I DON'T have 1: Colitis, 2: Guiardia.  Two down, four more to go.  Meanwhile, I'm limiting myself to within 100 feet of the bathroom.  Lotsa fun!  Whistling  Next two tests have to do with liver and gall bladder, but Dr. Chang doesn't think they're a problem, since there's no vomiting or pain.   Meanwhile, Kaopectate and I have become lovers, LOL!

The Atlas track cleaner is working beautifully since the surgery yesterday at Railroad Hobbies.  If any of you get one and run into the same problem I did--just go out and buy yourself a pack of Kadee O-scale coupler springs.  Problem solved, but for cryin' out loud, why did Atlas construct such a beautiful machine with such GOOFY motor contacts?  Okay, I e-mailed them.  We'll see if I get an answer.

Went to Bruce's today and picked up some WS underbrush--there are portions of the Yuba River Sub that are looking pretty bare to me, need some spicing up.    And no, we're not desert out here in the Sierra, we're pretty darned 'lush' at certain elevations.   Big trees, lots of grass and meadows and plenty of brush.  Desert's a little farther south out here in the West.  Like Tucson, Arizona, LOL!

Jim:  COUGARS?  Wow, that would be just great!  But why would WS want to put out a whole FAMILY of them?  Except for cubs, those are really solitary cats.  Male comes by, says, "Hello, let's mate and I'll go on my way," and mommy takes care of the cubs until they can hunt for themselves.  We're not talking DOMESTIC, at least out here in the Sierra, LOL!  But if WS comes up with them, I've certainly got enough rocks to 'hide' them in.  That would be very cool.

Well, that's about it from this neck of the woods.  Looks like those thunderheads mean business outside, something that nobody expected--especially our bright and bushy-tailed TV weather-persons.  I should go out in to the living room and see how they're explaining THIS one away, LOL!

Oh, BTW, forget the Lutefisk.  I got the recipe.  Holy Cow, even the VIKINGS thought it was weird.  "Uff-Dah" will learn to like tuna or lump it!

Speaking of:  He's decided to become Regal:

Spooky is not amused at all:

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Evening all,

More rain for us today, fortunately we didn’t have the hail some people got.  Down the road a ways there are people without phone service because a couple of guys stole 2,600 feet of phone wire off one of the bridges to sell as scrap.  Not sure how they will get away with that as there are off duty cops at every scrap yard.

Jeff, the “new” locomotive looks really good.  Good to hear your father is home and doing better.

Now that my mom is home from the hospital I guess its my grandma’s turn.  She was admitted yesterday.  We found out tonight she has a problem with her gallbladder. Waiting to hear from the surgeon on treatment options.

I went to the Euclid Model Railroad club again last night, I’m planning on joining, not sure what I’ll be doing.  It seems everyone just jumps in and starts working on something.

Good late afternoon.  A bad storm just came by, and another one is coming!!

Went to a LHS to get some "weathering" cars.  That will give me something to do.   I will post some pictures, once I get the car looking used.

Well I guess I will take a sweet tea to go.

Everybody have a good one.

By the way, Jeffrey, what is the locomotive in the picture you have on your post on p6, I don't recogonize it?

That started life as an Atlas Master Silver series GE U30C. I chopped the body and reassembled it grafting in some EMD parts from an Athearn BB SD40-2, a Proto 2000 GP30 and a Bachmann GP50. The air tanks on to were made from 1/8" dowel. The cab is from a 80's Bachmann train set GE loco. I superglued the Atlas detail parts onto it. It's definitely one of the Sundown rebuild shops Frankenstein's.

Afternoon all,

Jim, you know those box cars you weathered are from the 1960’s right?  I will have to double check but I don’t think they are MRC.

Jeff, I’m glad to hear your father is on his way home, funny my Mom was in the hospital for the same thing about the same time your father was.

The answer to you question is yes, I will sometimes take pictures (just have to find the camera first), and right now I'm currently waiting on rrpicturearchives.net to approve me to upload them there, when they do, I'll be sure to get the links to all the pictures I take and post up.  By the way, Jeffrey, what is the locomotive in the picture you have on your post on p6, I don't recogonize it?  Well, I hear my boss coming, time to close down internet exploder and get back to work......

Afternoon everyone!

Zoe I'll have the toasted tuna and cheese with a side of onion rings and a decafe in a FGLK Mug if you please.  I'll go over and sit at the Rivet Counter with some of the other guys.  Bring it to me there if you would.  Thanks!

Spent the morning over at school setting up a couple of mikes for tonights concert and chatting with my old (and not so old) friends.  Went to the Credit Union to get some pictures of dead presidents to do me the rest of the month in the cash dept. and the cashier there saw my NMRA shirt I was wearing.  Come to find out her husband is inheriting a pile of 1950"s and earlier Märklin locos and rolling stock.  Wanted to know what it might be worth and that much of it has never been out of the box......  Told her to get online and do some research before she sells any of it.  I guess it is O scale so it could be collectors stuff.

My truck is done so I am waiting for my son to drop me off at the dealers on his way to work this afternoon.  Hopefully the problem will be fixed this time!  The dealer is a good one and their prices on most work is the same as the "cheapy" places in the area and I trust them much more than the others.

Glad to hear about those whose health is improving and my prayers go out to all of you in need!

Jeffrey {Still looking for a box to send that in....it is rather large.May just tape carboard together around it and send it?}.

Doesn't bother me, as long as it's sent.

It will when my check comes in now. Not here today. If not tomorrow, I go to SS Office and complain loudly, but tactfully and quietly. I shall have to keep My other half on a short leash who, on the other hand, will, however, {insert explitive} up a storm. That usually doesn't get one too far when it comes to handing out money to you even if it is your money.

I have my SS Disability check direct deposited..I get mine on the 3rd unless that falls on a week end or holiday...

Same here except mines deposited on the 1st.

I used to not have it direct deposit for a very good reason. We do have a locked mailbox system here, so {unless it gets shoved in wrong slot by a stupid substitute postman or woman} It should be safe as pie in a locked locker. The problem is the Memorial Day holiday always coming so close to my delivery date. Mail in general gets slowed at holiday times, and it's no different. Sometimes its a day or two late at Xmas, too. But I may change that to direct deposit.

HAve a great day

(yawn) Mornin' all (yawn) Lots of Coffee please. Boy am I tired. Stayed up WAY to late last night. (yawn). Not much going on today here. Mom day for me. Rainy and cool so that's not helping the gumshin any.(yawn)

Hey Ryan, welcome back. Thanks for the recipe. I looooove shrimpies. Mmmm

Glad to hear some Fathers are doing better.

JR- Ouch! Glad it wasn't bigger or worse.

Tom- "Delta Breeze" sounds like a good name for a boat. I hope your illness isn't what you fear and that it, or it's cure, doesn't effect your Pentecost plans. Maybe you should put a little smokestack on the cleaning car so it won't feel alone. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Rivet Counters, did someone say Rivet Counters? Well now that you've mentioned it, I think Barry put it very well. It's not the model-ing that is the problem, it's the certain type of attitude towards others of the model-er. You see, of course, how it works both ways too. There's room for all of us and I just don't get why some peoples are so concerned about what someone else is doing, and that they feel the need to tell others what they should or shouldn't do in there own little word based on their perception of the way it should be. They aren't paying for it. And that really goes for many things. Give an opposing point of view no matter how kindly, and you think you jabbed them in the eye with a stick. (oops, sorry JR) Ask them what color underwear I should wear, they don't care. But pick the wrong loco or car or whatever and listen to them go ballistic. Grumpy

(yawn) I've gatta get moving before I take a nap before naptime.

Have a Great Day!

Mornin' all.  I'll have a glass of milk, biscuit and gravy, with a side of bacon please.

Well, I had a little fun railfanning last night.  The little girl (my daughter Heather) and I went and watched Q650 stroll through.  Thankfully where we railfan from is the interchange point between the CSX Dothan Sub mainline, and the Conecuh Valley RR, so I got to watch 650 as she picked up 5 and dropped off 12.  It's always fun watching big mainline engines (in this case ES44DC 5212, and ES44AH 738 along with Montgomery's Chester Yard switcher GP40-2 6017) doing switch work and then pulling out of town like noones business.  I have to say though, I dunno if I like how the new GEVO's really sound....kinda, I dunno, boring sounding (dunno if an engine can sound "boring" but they do).  Oh well, I guess its back off to w**k for me (yes, I'm online at w**k, I gotta goof off somehow).  I'll be back in around lunch to see what's up.  Prayers and blessings for all who need (that'd be all of us).

Barry - If I had said it the way you did, I probably would not feel guilty for my comments. I didn't mean to offend modlers like yourself.  Thank You.  I'll let it rest now.

Zoe?  A pork roll and cheese and a decaf please.  Thanks.

Good Morning---

It is damp, muggy and foggy this morning--gonna be rainy and t'underboomy for the day as well as tomorrow morning. Highs are stuck in the low 20's with the lows around 13C. So the mugginess will stick to one for a while yet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have a few lutfiskers around here by the looks of things. I had a bit over at a friends place a few days ago---I don't think I'll try THAT againDead. He came over from Norway a few years ago and told me while we had that thing that he really thought that this had nothing to do with gourmet anything. Even his own two cats would avoid that stuff. He thought, though, that lutefisk would make an excellent method for torture-----gee, I wonder why---Whistling Dried fish----yum--Dead

Ohno ohno--I've also been accused of being a Rivet Counter when I am listening closely at what an ALCO 244 should be sounding like on a sound decoder---then again, maybe hearing these every so often when I was a child may have something to do with it. Those things did sound a little different after all. Frankly, I don't think that jumping on someone over their rivet counting is useful. It is not the rivet counting that is the issue. It should be whether s/he is doing this in a 'boorish' manner that is the issue---WhistlingSmile,Wink, & Grin Being a Rivet Counter=not a problem.Approve Being a Boor=problem.Disapprove

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've got today off as well as tomorrow. I've ended up with a 4 day weekend!! YAY!! money in pocket --- not so much--Dead---but having some MRR'ing time is a good thing. Maybe we can have no hoey do lists?Approve This may work as I just asked Audrey---she couldn't think of anything that needed done---YAY!!Approve

Chloe, I'll have a big ol' breakfast platter with everything and a bucket of coffee as well please---I'll be sitting with the crew at the corner booth.Big Smile

'morning guys. Nothing good about it.

It is rainy and cool here, Blechy and Yech.

My SSDisability check is due to arrive the 4th Wednesday of the month based on my birthday. It did NOT come yesterday. I am NOT happy today. The envelope is stamped in large bold letters "TO BE DELIVERED ON X DATE".  It seems that every year Memorial Day screws things up. If it doesn't show up by Friday's post, I go to the SS office in Binghamton and complain loudly so they will give me a spotter check. I know, I know, perhaps I should consider Direct Deposit.

My body temperature warmed up after dinner last night, sorta. I used to sweat at any temp over 70*, but now seem to tolerate 72-73* comfortably without the profuse sweating like used to be. ANd my fingers are no longer Icecubes. Hope it lasts, I don't want to go back to that cold chill I had going. Whoops. Spoke to soon. It's 72.5 degrees in here and I'm starting to "perspire".

Maybe now that some of the enclosed porch is cleaned out, I can get some of the stuff out of the train/junk/storage room so I can get to the layout. I was gonna tear it up a bit and restructure it to have 2 interconnected 18R ovals instead of one 18r connected with one 15r anyway. So as it exists now, it will be torn up anyway, part of the reason why I was thinking of taking it down. I have to play with measurements  to determine if the 2 interconnected 18r ovals on a bit larger layout will fit/work in the room!.Whistling

Jeffrey glad to know your father is home. Glad they know what it is and how to treat it. {Still looking for a box to send that in....it is rather large.May just tape carboard together around it and send it?}.

WB Ryan! Good to see you back in here, great that you found the new place so well. Sounds delicious. My cooking has gone pretty flat and bland and boring lately. Trying to loose lots of weight{20-40 lbs}. So, plain piece of 4-6 oz meat, 2 tablespoons of plain starch, and about a cup and a half of veggies or salad. And the weight is not coming off. {Course I gotta watch out for snacking on potato chips and cheese, can't seem to give those up}.

Paul Hope Mary Ann's stuff goes well.

CN Charlie...lutefisk can be very tasty {like rotted shark} if you have nothing else to eat! HAving never tasted either {and hoping I never do}, I can say I would probably enjoy it if there was nothing else around to eat. Then again, maybe I'd just starve to death. Hey! I got a new diet plan in mind...now I just eat rotten shark and lutefisk...I'm sure I'd loose weight...but, oh, how good a McD's would taste then....

The Prayer candle will be lit at 10AMEDT for those in need.Angel

Well I hope my check comes today so I have a happier day, teh rest of you just have as great a day as you can!

Jeff, Ryan -  good to hear dads are progressing.

Paul - Hope things go well for Mary Ann.

CN - I made some comments in the past about RC's that didn't come out as I had intended.  Being an RC is fine, I have no trouble with that.  I applaud those that have the dedication to be that accurate.  My problem was with those that poo-poo those of us who free-lance or take liberties with our modeling.  I do like your 'squint test'.

Cloudy here today, hope it clears up some.  The allergies are clearing up but the asthma is a bit touchy today.

Good morning.

It's 69 and partly cloudy. The high will be around 85 and it will be partly cloudy.

My father is now back home and resting comfortably. He has made the usual observation about antibiotics, that they taste like chalk. I told him that he'll get used to it. He'll also have to change his diet slightly. We had a really intense storm yesterday that knocked out the power for a while. It dumped 4 inches of rain in an hour and a half and half an hours worth of hail on top of that. No damage from the hail except for a little stripping of leaves and beating my mother's flowers to pieces. I got most of the cleanup work on the layout done. I can see the grass at Sundown again and the service area of the Knutsville Shell station is also visible once again. These areas tend to become clutter magnets when I'm working on projects. One of the hazards to be dealt with when the layout doubles as the work bench.

Good Evening Diners!

Say, I just realized that I made a comment about a boxcar not being the right colour. Does that make me a RIVET COUNTER???  Anyway there's nothing wrong with counting rivets, and in fact it could even be theraputic. Far better than sheep and still within the the hobby.

Corey, congrats on the Berk. They are a very handsome loco and I must admit I was tempeted but the only road that had any in Canada was the TH&B and those didn't look anything like the Lima version. I couldn't even make one pass my squint test for the CN. A squint test is my test for prototypical. If I squint does the loco sort of resemble one that CN had and if the answer is yes they it passes and onto the Mortimer sub it goes.

Interesting conversation about stuff and its accumulation. Must admit that I go through clean out phases when I throw out stuff. We have a storage room that was quite clean just 4 years ago but it isn't now. I blame my wife who is an information junkie and any book, magazine, etc. that has good info can't be thrown out. I've managed to stop the acquisition of a printer for the computer as I think we would be in real trouble. I've actually thrown out model RR magazines if they don't have articles I want to keep.  My parents were both young adults in the depression and my mother certainly isn't one to hoard. She says is it from moving but I think she gets bored with stuff so just gets rid of it.

Well tomorrow I'm taking a day off to go out and paint the bottom of the boat. I have to put a new coat of anti-fouling paint on every year and have got it down to one litre on a 27 foot boat. At $55/litre, you learn how to use it sparingly and quickly. The quickly part comes in as it dries in less than 5 minutes so you have to move fast.

Tom, I bet if Uff-Dah actually tasted lutefisk he might be very happy with tuna. He sounds like my grandmother who told us many times how wonderful it was but when we actually did get some and cook it for her she said it didn't taste like she remembered. How can any fish preserved with lye taste good? It was truly like eating glue. That was when I was 16 and the taste is still vivid after, what, 45 years.

Good night all,

CN Charlie
