Oh man, am I tired ! ! ! Seven days of work in a row. The paycheck this friday will be nice with 5 days regular time, 1 day of overtime, and 1 day of double time. [:D] [:D] But the body sure does hurt. [:(] [V]

The drink tonight is just good old plain ice water. The humidity is about 90%. The temp was in the 80s today. So ice water is a needful thing tonight (morning actually).

I saw one train on the way to work. I will post about it in the "Recently I Saw" thread in the trains.mag forum.

Coffee will be ready about 7 am. But now it is good ol water. [:)]

Hi guys, good morning, etc! Had a great day yesterday, saw 2 CSX ACC4000Ws (whatever they are) pulling a coal train and 2 CPR SD40-2s pulling an auto rack train. Unfortunatly, I had no camera. But it was cool anyway. Lupo, I'm afraid I'm not a coffee drinker, have you anything else?

Uggghhhhhhhhh! Ya Ya, I'm up, where's the coffee pot, Oh lupo's got it, hey Lupo, pour me one would ya please. Right now that big hole in the top of my cup may as well be 1 inch wide or fifty feet wide, I couldn't hit it if I wanted to. Man did I sleep hard once I got to sleep, sleeping disorders will do that to you. Once you get to sleep, you wake up a bit disoriented. Coffee will do the trick though.

On my previous post about the crew changing at 13 th street I need to correct something. The wye actually starts BEFORE 13th street and not after. The train was coming into NLR (or NL as the railroad calls it). If you have a UP timetable or an old MO PAC timetable this will be the Van Buren sub. Then the trains can go by the Jenks shop and across the Bearing Cross Bridge into Little Rock (the old Union Station now used by Amtrak is just across the river so when you go across the bridge the depot is just around the corner). That if they are going to go southwest (to Dallas) or southeast to Pine Bluff then into Louisiana. If they go into the yard then from there it would be north northeast to St. Louis.

When my old locomotive began to run badly, I called a repair shop where a
friendly man told me that the motor, pickups and gearing probably needed to be cleaned.
Because the shop charged $50,= for such cleanings, he told me, it would
be better for me to read the locomotive's directions or ask for advice on a forum and try the job myself.
Pleasantly surprised by his words, I asked, "Does your boss know that you

Am I the only one awake at 4 am on a sunday morning? (I'm at work) Hope nobody else from work surfs this site! At least I know some other soul is awake, a NS train just went by.

What a morning. Got off work at midnight and came home to walk the dog. Then I went to Walgreens to pick up my roll of film. I found my camera, thank God, it wasn't stolen. So I was a happy camper and took that roll of film to Walgreens when I picked up the first roll. Then I went Krogering and started back home. I stoppped at Hardies, something I rarely do, and got a thickburger and fries and diet drink [;)] [:D] [:p] . On the way home I started to turn down one of the streets going to my house and noticed all the streetlights were out going the opposite directions. So I decided to investigate. [8D] Curiosity may have killed the cat but it so far has missed me. [:D] When I got down the street a little ways I start seeing blue lights flashing (down south the police cars use blue lights not red) then I saw a firetruck. About this time I heard a train horn, so I thought since I was so close to the tracks I might as well check that out too. [;)] [:D] I will make a post about that in the "Recently I Saw" thread in the trains.mag forum. As I was making my railfanning/no street lights investigation I saw a wrecked car setting in the ditch. The train tracks are about 100 yards from the wrecked car. I didn't see, but couldn't see for buildings and trees in the way. So I don't know if there was a wreck of 2 or more cars or just that one. (While I was in Walgreens I heard a police car responding to the wreck but at the time didn't know where the wreck was.) I chased the train and got the lead locos number. Something happened that I didn't know happened at the crossing where the train stopped. There was one of the van/limos setting at the crossing waiting on the train. The train stoppped short of the crossing, the lights stopped flashing and the gate went up. Then the van back down to the engines. So they were changing crews there. This was right about 13 th street in North Little Rock. The wye starts just after 13 th street. I didn't know they changed crews there, but I saw it happen this morning. BTW the lead loco was UP 7112, I couldn't see the second engines's number and the pusher was number 8286. (Sorry, I forgot to tell you all this was a loaded coal train.) I had a difficult time trying to catch up to the train then it slowed down and then it ducked into an area where the land is higher than the tracks. There is also an old, old, old, wooden bridge over the tracks between 13 th street and say 15 th street. I need to take a picture of this bridge. It is old and narrow. It also is dangerous as it rises above the tracks and you can't see over the bridge. I will have to make myself a mental note and take that pic. You all might have to remind me though. So when I finally got home after this unexpected side trip I took the milk and other groceries into the house. [:p] I am surprised the milk wasn't butter the way I was taking curves and bouncing up and down on some bad roads. [:0] [B)] [}:)] [:p] But anyway that was my morning, how is yours going so far? (I am also doing laundry boo, hiss, yuck, yuck.)

Howdy again, I'm back. My trip was really good, there were 5 different units either beging repaired, leaving, or switching the yard in Janesville. Stopped at a couple of hobby shops and picked up three new grain cars. I also learned at one of the Hobby shops that Athearn is going to relese Wisconsin and southern SD-40's in 2 road numbers. They're going to be around 70 or 80 dollars though. I'm going to stick to buying undecorated models and paint and decal them myself though. I can do it for about half to two-thirds of what athearn is going to charge. Every thing went really well, and I'm very happy.

Well actually, I made it this morning, didn't take any real great pains with it, just made as usual, but thanks. My folks and I were Air Force and moved to Plattsburgh in 1958 from California. What a differance. I thought it was the best place in the world for a kid to grow up and still do. Winters can be a bit brutal until you get accustomed to them but after the first 1 or 2 years, no problem. If I could, I would retire there, but my wife and family are native Floridians. I think you get my drift. Anyway it's good to know that someone else on here comes from that region. Hope your feeling better.

That trip was was a sad one for me as I lost my long time companion Junior (my Teddy bear). I have photos of that trip and still to this day wish I lived in that area. as noted, the 2860 Royal Hudson is a museum display now, and I believe there is a Historical Society that maintains it. I recall that this Royal Hudson regularly did charter runs from Vancouver to Squamish as recently as the past 10 yrs or so.
and the 2816 Hudson that has been rolling through the country over the past 6 months, currently has an exclusive charter clientelle that have paid approx $25,000 for the unique holiday - too rich for me, but apparently it's a wonderfully smooth running steam loco.

I can't find my camera. It still has a full roll of undeveloped film in it. This roll was taken at the open house last Sunday. So I hope it turns up somewhere. One thing is for sure, I can't blame the dog for this one. I did turn in a roll today to be developed. This time tomorrow night I will have it back. I am not sure if anything will be earth shatering though. If it is you will feel the ground shaking. lol [:)]. Should anything be worthly I will let you all know. I have a long list of forum friends who I email pics to whenever I email stuff. Should you want on this list just email me and I will include you. I usually mail out things that are worthly of the Pic of the Day. I think I have had 4 now (Photo of the Day). To reply to JCtrain's question, it looked great. Unfortunately the problems were internal. IIRC, it had only recently been removed from excursion service due to some boiler problems and they were thinking of retubing her. If you're down in Portland you ought to consider the museum for some future trip north.

Speaking of CP Hudson's, when we were up in B.C. two years ago we saw (what I think was) #2860 at the museum in Squamish (great museum, by the way). I thought they were saying they intended to recondition her to run again. Any idea if they did or are doing anything?

By the way, that area north of Vancouver is drop dead gorgeous. Spent a great week camping just north of Squamish.
