afternoon,cw. I live in Eustis and drive by Grand Island everyday. I am into h.o. There are
a number of G modelers in the area. Our only lhs just closed down but is to reopen in
a larger store. Was stocking g and h.o. only.Very talented. Was also installing dcc for
all, even putting models together, fixing,painting and what ever else was needed.

finally got done with all the sheetrock in the trainroom..i can now scrap the old pieces for good ...one more section to tape, float, and paint and continuation with the benchwork...should have a section of the layout running a train in about a month...gonna start with the Eagle Pass cut-off wye and go from there...

Oh ok...well you live real close to my dad then..he lives in Grand Island FL. near Eustis...he does G gauge railroads...and yes..Rusk and Palestine is a good ways from me...about 4 1/2 hours drive...i've seen the train up there, but never rode it...my last train ride was the DRG&W Silverton - Durango narrow gauge in Colorado..that was a beautiful place.....[:D]

This needs couplers, that roadbed & track needs to be laid, oh, crap, I could have been working on that building!!!!
Right now I'm working on a masonite track cleaning car & I want to make some railings out of brass wire as the ones I got with my Athearn GP35, I ended up breaking the ones that come off the front of the cab to the nose. This is all work being done in my head right now.

Hey Yall [:D]

I only worked 8 hours tonight and am home now. We will be working this Saturday and Sunday AGAIN so no day off this week either. [:(!] This is good for the paycheck but not so good for sleep and the body.

Duchess is barking at something outside. She was the runt of the litter but she sure didn't miss out on lung power. Man she can bark loud. She hurts my ears at times. [V] [:(!] She is onary too. My first Doberman was an excellent dog. Her name was Little Red Princess Sasha. Sasha was very loving and all the neighbors loved her. The neighbors spoiled her. She always thought I should take to to visit the neighbors all the time. You could not ask for a better dog than she was. She was soooooo intelligent and very obedient. I still cry over losing her. SHE WAS THE BEST. Duchess Von Levy is unfortunately no Sasha, but I still love her. They become family and all have different personalities just like people. Duchess is my problem child. [;)] She will be 2 in June. Sasha will have been gone 2 years this July.

Duchess is very athletic and can jump like you wouldn't believe. She stands up and walks on her hind legs. She loves to play but plays very rough. She can be sweet when she wants to but that is mostly when she is asleep. A while back I dropped a section of HO track and she ran off with it and chewed it up. [:(!] She is a big chewer, couches, coffee tables, books, magazines, pencils, ink pens, mail, pillows, sheets, blankets, etc., etc., etc. She even chewed the electric cord to my dust buster. So now I make darn sure she can't chew any other cords.

Maybe for my next Doberman I will name it after a railroad. But for a doby you need a really tough sounding masculine name. Yall got any suggestions. Duchess and Sasha were both "red" Dobermans. I might get a black one next time, or maybe the blue. I have never seen a blue one but they do have them. By the way, Dobermans are very good protectors but are not the mad vicious animals you see on tv. Any dog can be trained to be mean, but Dobermans are not naturally mean. They are very knowledgeable of "their" territory and are very protective of the owner and the owner's family and property. But they are not mad flesh eating overgrown dogs you see on tv. Sasha loved people and I knew by the way she acted who was at the door. I had company one time and two ladies were setting on the couch. Sasha "sat" between them and soaked up all the attention she could.

Well I guess that explains the "fec"

It was too hot and humid here today, I had to pass on my normal morning coffee. However DW is about to bring me a tall iced coffee to sip while I wait for posts to load on this very slow dialup connection.

Actually did some real work on the trains today, painted the bodies on a couple of old cars that I had decided to try to personalize and replaced trucks/couplers on another. Not much progress for a real model railroader, but a major advance for me.

finally got most of the backdrop done yesterday evening and built another bench..tonight I'm gonna fini***he backdrop that goes in front of my water well and lawn sprinkler controls...think i'm going to hinge it so i can remove it easily to get to the water well tank if i need to in the future...off to get a hot stiff black cup of coffee and think about it somemore....

Just taking a break for more jave then back to the layout teardown. Seems i inherited a ton of track and switches. Maybe, just maybe, I can finally get the look I have been working for. After months of reading scenery books and looking at other layouts, it is time to get to work. What a wonderful summer this is going to be..

BTW flavored coffee is for yuppie losers. But that is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

[;)] I was taking a car up to the UP of MI where my brother was stationed in the Air Force. The base where he was is closed now and has been for years. But I drove his car up there and flew back. It was in the middle of winter and I got to wreck his snowmobile. [:0] [8D] I was trying to go between two poles and hit a patch of ice and the snowmobile turned sideways. Like you said, "That's life". [;)] [8D]

Well I worked another 10 hour shift. Nice on the paycheck but not so nice on my body. [:(]

JCTrain [:)] I will trade yall my "work" for your "homework". Man oh man, what a deal for yall. You will get to climb in and on airplanes, contort your body into odd shapes, poke and stab yourself with cotter pins, Xacto knives, and other assorted sharp objects. Then after all that you can wiggle into places a snake wouldn't go and try to work some there. I have some pics but I can't post them , I can email a few to people who would want to see planes in various stages of work. I work on new airplanes that are intended for big shots of companies, or people who are very rich. These are not your normal airplanes but have gold plated a***rays and sinks. [:0] You folks would have to see them to believe them. Oh I forgot, the pic in my profile is me sitting on the horizontal stabilizer. Trust me it is higher up there than it looks. When someone gets in or off the plane the tail moves a bunch. It can make a preacher say a bad word or two. It is kind of hard to hold onto anything and the fall restraint system isn't something a guy wants to test. It is kinda like setting in a parachut harness. If you use it you will be singing Sprano for a while. [:0] [B)]

yeah Jim, your right, I was a little jealous, but that's life. I turned in my paper on the Future of the Railroads this morning, so hopefully I'll know my grade by the end of the week. It's cruch time for me around school. I had a test today in math, english and religion, I've got a final exam in Math on thursday and friday, and then my Math place ment test on Monday and Tuesday. I've also got a science test on Monday, Its just all to much I tell ya. I got to skip ahead with about a dozen other classmates to pre-a this year in 7th grade. And I'd like to get to Algebra next year, so I can get credits for high school early. To add to the pressure I've got to be at school at 6:15 or 6:20 tomarrow for a trip to milwaukee, about 2 to 2 and a half hours away. We wont be getting home till around 5:30, it's just all to much. At least we can sleep on the bus tomarrow morning, but I doubt I'll get much sleep considering how loud my class likes to be. Ho Hum. at least I've got my Model Railroad to come home to, assuming nothing goes wrong with it.

Hello Ed, yes Palestine is what I misspelled. Sorry about that. Ben moved from
Cubaville, formally known as Miami and now is happy as a pig in mud. He loves
steamers. now he works on them,repairing,and is working towards being an engineer.
He is almost completing his pike and already runs some of his locos on it. Anyone
near Jacksonville,Texas can get a hold of him.He visits a few other modelers in a 75
mile range. Very helpful and talented.

Crosby is just northeast of Houston, while Palestine (I assume this is the town you were referring to) is up towards Dallas. It would be about a 3 hour drive up route 45 (although through some pretty country).

Palestine, of course, is well known for the Texas State Railroad that runs trains back and forth between Palestine and Rusk. We took the trip last year and recommend it. see the following link: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/railroad/

And speaking of work I just got off work after a 10 hour shift. No day off last week and overtime already this week. It is going to be a long week. [:(!]

I have a headache from not getting enough sleep. I usually get about 4 hours a night if I am lucky. The dog frequently wakes me up barking at the tomcats fighting each other. The one good thing about running the air conditioner will be she won't hear the cats. But I am trying to hold off turning it on. Isn't it funny how the very next bill you get after turning the AC on shows a BIG jump in electrical power used. But after you turn it off it seems to take 2 months for the bill to even decrease slightly. I never figured out how that works. But it sure holds true around here.

Well I need to post a "funny" in the humor thread so off I go. [8D]

On the second cup of coffee, it definately will take more. The sun is up and it is a nice day.

On a sad note when I came home last night from work I noticed my front porch seemed to be not as dark as usual. I turned around and noticed my neighbor had cut down a 30 to 40 year old cedar tree. Well that itself wasn't too bad but it was strangely silent last night. The tree was home to a bird that sang all night. He/she had a variety of calls and sounds that he/she made. When I would take the dog for a walk he would sing to us and I would sometimes "call" back to him and he would then "chat" with me. But last night there was no song, no call, and no chat. I don't know where he went but I missed his singing last night. In the summer the tree provided some shade for the front of the house so now the house will be a little warmer in the summer. So I miss that tree already. [:(] [V] [:(!]

Good Mornin' Everybody,
It's about 8:30 AM in the mountains and it's going to be a beautiful day. Hope everybody is doing well today. The coffee is really good this morning. We had a very busy weekend filled with lots of gardening,some shopping for stuff for the house, and moving our daughter back into the dorm at Young Harris College. She graduated on the 1st, but she's working the summer terms as a residence assistant. That kind of like being a combined den mother and hall monitor. So there wasn't much time for model railroading in the past 2 days. I plan on changing that this morning.

Lupo, the pictures are great. I really enjoyed them.

Have fun everyone, and now it's down to the railroad room!
