Merry Christmas to all our fellow railroaders down under Hope it was great for you all . I'm about 13 - 14 hours from finding out what mine is. we don't open till about 9 or 10 a.m. CFO likes to sleep in and make me wait she got hers today thou I finished the kitchen all except corner and ceiling moulding I did the rest of the panelling and the base board moulding and around the doors (3 of them ) I also took some of the extra bead board and started re doing the front of the cabinet doors to give the look of new cabinets got about 1/2 of them done for her too. She is very pleased tonight.

didn't get any model railroading done didn't even bid on any trains yet today the ones I did see where either priced to much to my likings or didn't really care for.

Good Evening, Chloe, I guess you'll be putting things on autopilot here pretty soon and heading out to celebrate with Zoe and your cousin Vinnie. Just a cup of hot cocoa for now. Thanks!

Sorry to hear about Jerry having to be in the hospital over Christmas. At least Sallie and the kids will get to bring some of the holiday to him, Inch. If he's in long enough that you go by and see him, send him our hello's and Angel [angel]Angel [angel], and we hope he's well and back home soon.

Thanks for the nice artwork, PC and DerJohn (like those blue snowflakes!). Paul might not be the only one with some sNoah on the ground - I heard earlier today they've revised our forecast to 1-3 possible inches (after it turns to snow). Sure hope that we don't get a bunch of sleet/ice under it first. I had heard earlier that areas south of us were more likely to get snow, so Inch, Jerry, and our Indiana and Ohio CS'ers may not get it from this one. Now, Ryan, you and our southern contingent might want to lay up a little wood, just in case! Shock [:O] Or, we might all get nothing but rain... Jeff, what've you been getting down there?

I got (most of?) my ornaments on the tree, and the battery-powered train set up under it. However, I think I need a bigger board for the track to be on, and maybe some weight in the cars to slow it down a little.

DerJohn, good to see pics of your layout again. Looks good (still). I didn't get lots done on my layout today, though. But I have this next week to make some more progress on that. Yeah!! [yeah]

NSScot, it has been a while since you've posted (but then again, that doesn't mean you haven't been lookin' through the window sometimes, right?). Good to know you're still around.

I'll get going for now. Need to get cleaned up before heading for late service. Prayers for Jerry and all the rest who might be ailing. May you all have fun in the morning (especially if you have young'uns at home or visiting - they're such fun to watch as their eyes light up).Smile [:)]

Blessings on your night, and tomorrow as well,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Merry Christmas All.

Hope you all have a good and peaceful day tomorrow. Our prayers for Jerry, what a lousy time to get sent in hospital.

Welcome to our new member Jeremy, and it's ok that all that pie disappeared - from what I read here most of us can afford to share a couple of slices without too much worry about wasting away.

May there be peace on earth  goodwill towards men    J.R.

Jim: I've been getting nothing but rain, rain, and more rain. So much for scattered showers! Next time I see that weatherman I'm kicking his butt!

Good Morning, and a
M-e-r-r-y Christmas, everyone!

Prayers for a quick and complete recovery for Jerry and any others who are ailing today, and may all of you be blessed.

Jeff, I hear you on the rain (30 percent chance is all they're saying for you?). Some point in the night I was aware that it was raining, and this morning it's still doing the same thing (slow but steady drizzle - one of those ones that at other times of the year would be a garden soaker). Definitely a day for the umbrella if you're going outside around these parts.

PC, I see that you, Jeremy and Jeff were the early birds - up early peeking at your presents before the rest of the family got up? Wink [;)]

I ask that, because when my daughter was still a toddler, one Christmas morning she comes into our bedroom and informs my (then) wife and I, in a very sheepish voice, that she forgot (or couldn't wait), and had opened all her presents - except for one. Whistling [:-^] Turned out she'd actually missed a couple others on the back side of the tree. But she got in trouble with her mother, because the leaving one unopened kind of showed that Sarah knew she wasn't supposed to be doing it.

Of course, I shouldn't talk too much about her - when I was a kid, my brother and I (when Mom and Dad were away around Christmastime) were really good at being able to undo the Scotch tape, unfold the paper on the ends of the boxes and get a peak at what we were getting, and then seal it back up.Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^] In fact, some of the family decided to be trickier, and we would put the actual present inside a different (or bigger) box to throw off others. I recall packing a gift with lots of padding so that it would muffle any sounds if shaken. Or how about putting a record album inside a much larger box with lots of newspaper padding around it to disguise what it was?  (Those of our younger CS'ers might need to  go look up 'vinyl' or 'record album' in Wikipedia for explanation of that term.) Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg].

Hope everyone has some quality time just kicking back and relaxing with your loved ones.

Christmas Blessings,

 Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good morning all, I got a couple things I've been needing.

I got a new Norelco reflex-action cordless razor and a new 5-gallon Shop-Vac to replace the one that's just about dead. I also got one of those flashlights that you shake to recharge.

Good Afternoon All,

Hope everyones having a good day - nice and quiet here now that the kids have scattered to elsewhere til dinner. Got the new Dylan release and some old Buffet plus some train books and a calendar. My wife suprised me with a pocket watch from the Grand Canyon Railway that I had admired but passed up as pushing my luck (I'd already stiched her into the train trip after all). Also got a new weight bench and the ok to move the workshop to the garage so said weight bench can be installed in the basement along with the treadmill and (this is the best part) the drumsets which I currently have stored under the layout!

In the midst of our good fortune today lets make sure we take a moment to offer a prayer and remember those not so fortunate, ill, or away from home and loved ones.         J.R.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Howdy y'all...Long time no talk. How's it going? Everyone doing well?

I've been pretty busy. School and work take up the majority of my time; and now I have been cast into the school's winter theater production of The Twilight Zone - Kick the Can episode. That should be fun. Big Smile [:D]

Now I have a few things I need to do on my car...Like install the new FENDER SKIRTS I got for Christmas. That ought to look snazzy when it's done. Just need to get them painted the Currant Red color of my car. Then I'll splice in some rocker-panel trim across it so that it has a nice seamless look to it.

And I got to welcome a few new friends into my N scale roster today; straight from the Island of Sodor. Cool [8D]

everyone:  Looks like things have been pretty quiet in here most of the afternoon.  A brisk walk after our late (for us) Christmas dinner at 2:00 p.m. did little to pull down the blood sugar by 5:00.  Still, it was at the highest end of the acceptable range, so no great panic.  Hope everyone else survived OK.  I join in your thoughts and prayers for Jerry. Angel [angel]

Kris obviously wants me to get on with the layout scenery.  She gave me a whole kit of landscape painting gear (as well as a box of 22 brightly coloured mini-clamps! ) So now all I need to find is the time!!Approve [^]

Switchman:

Do illiterate (no offence intended) people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?
…metabolically speaking, that maybe depends on the individual, I guess. Dinner [dinner] However, if the “full effect” has to do with making words in the soup… what's the use of literacy if one still has that kind of time on your hands?

CapeJim:

DerJohn, good to see pics of your layout again.
…I should have put a “File Photo” tag on that one, it was taken ages ago. Whistling [:-^] Just wanted to let Jeremy know there were other CN modelers out there.Big Smile [:D]

Scott: Great to see you drop by again. Those fender skirts are going to really bling your car. Cool [8D] How are the horns sounding now? School and work can sure put a crimp in mrr time!  Thanks for showing a terrific example to our younger students! Bow [bow]

I hear laughter from downstairs, so there must be something good on TV.   I’m off to check it out.  It’s too late to start anything on the layout tonight. Good night all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel [angel]

Evening everyone, I trust you all had a good Christmas.  Christmas Eve is the big day for our family.  The extended family gets together here at my place for dinner and to exchange gifts.  that leaves Christmas morning for the younger folks with small children to open Santa's gifts.  I got a gift certificate to the LHS and some cash.  I will certainly be able to put them both to good use.

Sorry to hear that Jerry has to spend Christmas in the hospital.  We're thinking about you Jerry, hope you feel better soon.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the new folks I've noticed the past couple days.

Today was a day to veg out after spending a couple days getting ready for the family to be here.  Did some quick cleaning this morning so I wouldn't have to look at the mess and just loafed the rest of the day, it felt good.  Note to self, next year get a smaller ham.  I'm going to be eating ham all week.  If I have enough left till the weekend I'm planning some home made ham pot pie.  Sounds good just thinking about it.

Guess that's about it, see you later.

Good Morning All, Damp and mid forties today. I'll have a regular and just one donut - I'm still stuffed from yesterday. Back on the work computer as we spend some of shutdown rearranging the shop and taking care of personal projects (like maybe I'll finally install the supercharger on my Focus). Today will be spent on our mid engined Festiva project so we can put it back on its' own wheels. Spent some good hours in the train room as well the last few days and nearly have all the main line in lacking only the bit that goes on the swing gate since it's sooo much fun to align. Hope you're all doing ok - bad deal Slappy hope that works out for you. Inch - any more word on Jerry? I see from the preview window that the response here is still messed up hope you can all read this mess. CUL, J.R.

Good afternoon everyone, I hope everyone had a very nice Christmas Day, and for those who may not celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a Blessed Monday with family. And for JERRY, our very best wishes for a speedy return to the CS buddy, our prayers for your good health.

I see that DER JOHN got to the CS before me...ALL THE RUM BALLS ARE GONE !!!%$#$$$##$##

So how did everyone do for Christmas beside the extra weight we all gained? Everybody was thinking TRAINS and MRR for me this year....gee...I wonder why!?? Son #1 got me 4 cars (box), son #2 got me an Amtrak F40PH and 4 passenger cars (Amtrak), my daughter, got me 12 sections of flex track a milk car and 4 vehicles of the 50's/60's generation. I will have to modify my layout for the Amtrak passenger cars.......I believe they will need a 22" radius MINIMUM.

We had 0.78" of rain overnight, and today we have heavy fog, visability is down to 1/4 mile. The temp is 44F (7C), RH = 99%, DP=44F, Wind=0, and we have had 0.20" of rain since midnight. Still no measurable snow at all here this winter season. We may set a record with only 5 days to go.

Unfortunately, there was a terrible accident up in Maine Saturday night, one car skidded on black ice on route 122, into the path of an oncoming car. 4 teenage boys were killed in one car, and a young couple and their dog was killed in the 2nd car, all were wearing seat belts too, no alcohol involved, just terrible road conditions, one minute dry, the next section of road...black ice. The speed limit on that section of road was 50mph in good weather conditions. The cars were a mangled mess. I cannot imagine the loss to 6 families on the Eve of Christmas.

See you guys later,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Well, hows everyone doing?

Everybody recovering from the holiday yet?

How many of you had to go into work today like me?  Sometimes it's a drag working for a utility, ya know?

I guess I should be thanking God that I have a job to go to though, huh?

To all those who are sick or hurting emotionally, may God ease your pain.  To all those who don't know Him, may God reveal Himself to you.  And to all those who know Him and call Him Lord, May God richly bless you.
