Yesterday we got 4 1/2 inches of rain in 5 hours! I looked out my front door at one point and there was water standing an inch and a half deep! No way was I going out there!

Good morning guys, we awoke to a beautiful day, completely clear skies, dark blue, 34.9F at 8:53am, but got into the 20's last night. The only thing still growing in the garden is the Broccoli, that veggie is tough!!!
Todayis the calm before the storm. All of JEFF's rain, and CAPE JIM's rain, and COLORADO's snow, and MIKE"s Misty rain, is ALL HEADED FOR NEW ENGLAND and then Nova Scotia ( New Scotland translated). We are supposed to get 2-3" of rain with winds 50-70 MPH along the coast and 30 to 50MPH inland where I live.

JR: Danbury is going to get drowned tomorrow, get your boat ready, and your Lotus to high ground!!

MIKE: Isn't it great with the little ones? They really take to the Grandparents. My little grandson loves it here.

RYAN: Friday is Progress Report Day on layout, we expect it by noontime or no lunch.

SCOTT: A girl friend that LIKES TRAINS???? You have a gem and KEEPER young man, you had better treat her right. Send her flowers with train photos as wrapping paper, send her candy that is made in the form of locomotives.

JEFF: Don't go outside in that deep water, poisonous snakes might be floating y in a bad mood. Nice progress on your layout, only two turnouts to go for wiring now?

PAUL: Cutting grass on Christmas Day??? Holy Canolli!!!!!!! I hope we have a foot of snow on the ground up here by then for a nice olde fashion Currier & Ives New England Christmas, with deer in the pines, Red Cardinals at the bird feeders, smoke rising from the chimney tops with the smell of wood stoves burning, chestnuts roasting on the fireplace, the smell of a turkey roasting in the oven with grandmas stuffing made with ground pork, ground beef, diced potatos and onion, CUT GRASS ON CHRISTMAS DAY???? No way Jose'

SAFETY TIP FOR TODAY: Don't forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors this weekend!!!! Many lives have been lost in house fires because of dead or missing batteries in home smoke detectors.

See you guys at lunch

That's a great safety tip, one I give in my fire safety lessons and demonstrations. Also test those detectors at least once every couple of months. I test mine once a month and also test the CO detector.

And a third voice from Indiana is heard!  Hello!

grayfox1119, all that rain is coming through here too, so you're not alone!

So whats up everyone?

Jeff's got breakfast fired up!  I'm down with that!

Got lots of work to do today, and then I've got to complete the move-out process this weekend.  Gotta turn over the keys to the old place on Tuesday.  I sure am glad to be out of there, but I'm going to mis that place.  We were there for ten years.  When we moved in my son was only 1.  But the new place is great.  And hey, it just occured to me I haven't shown you all a pic of it now that it's finished!  I'll get one this weekend when it stops raining so you can check it out.

Well, time to act like I work somewhere!

Later!

Guys, you don't see this scene too often because Mt. Washington is covered with clouds due to elevation and the convergeance of two jet streams, and, storm paths over this part of the the Northeast.
If you go to this website, it has a live CAM that updates every 15 minutes. The Camera is located at the Conway High School on Rt 16, Conway New Hampshire, viewing North through the Mt. Washington Valley.

Good Afternoon All,

Pizza for lunch for me please.

Dick - Forecast for tomorrow is for rain locally heavy at times, but ending by evening. Dry for Sunday. Means no work on the RS-11 if it does rain Sat and rearrange the schedule so I can be in the yard on Sunday instead. If I'm smart I'll sneak over there this afternoon just to make sure it's all battened down.

Back to work - the 7 is intereesting - got all the junk brackets cut off and ground back and now I'm making up replacement bits for the chassis. CULBig Smile [:D], J.R.

Aren't Lotus's (or is that Loti?) fun?  I had a friend with an 11 that was just the coolest thing to work on.  Used to just humiliate the more powerful cars at the track!

Good afternoon gents, just stopped in for a minute, have to rototill all the grass cuttings and leaves into the garden, and then lime the garden and yard before the heavy rains come in tomorrow.

RYAN: Excellent Progress Report, you can now eat to your heart's content. You may have started a standard for others to to give their progress report on their projects.

PC: You outdid yourself, that is a mean looking lunch today, man...I am hungry!!

RT: You "will" get copious amounts of rain starting about 2am in your area and lasting all day Saturday.

Wasn't that a beautiful view of Mt. Washington? As some of you may know, the highest sustained winds ever recorded in the WORLD was atop Mt. Washington....237 MPH. That was back in the 30's. The building had enormous chains across the metal building and roof and anchored into cement pilings, and the poor weather reporter thought that the chains would break that night.

I hear the supper bell ringing.....fried sweet potato strips, steamed buttered cauliflower, catfish, with fresh apple pie for desert.

PC: Yes, I sure have. Going up Mt. Washington on the Cog RR is an experience that everyone should have at least once in their lifetime. HOWEVER, riding the "devil's shingle"? Well, that's a whole different story.

RYAN: You have set the standard now, I haven't heard from nay of the guys this afternoon in the CS, so I think they are brushing up on their MS Power Point so that they can try to outdo you by doing a slide presentation.

BTW, has anyone had a FERGIE sighting ?? Has he disappeared off the face of the earth? Der John is MIA also.
And, speaking of MIA's, where has Trolley Rob been ?

OK, take a look at this.

That's a P2K E6 in KCS colors. It's on a Kato drive and runs so quiet, I can't even hear the motor running.

I know that Fergie had hired another contractor to to build his addition, and his father was still in the hospital the last time he was in the CS. His wife Lisa had two broken wrists also, so I can imagine that Fergie is one busy guy doing everything. I hope he doesn't have to go to sea very soon.

As for Der John, he has been working at an Historical Museum near his home, and hip deep in logging info into the system. He has not had time to do very much at all. He has emailed me on a regular basis, and is well. He also said he was going to try to hit the CS soon.

JEFF: I don't recognize that color scheme on the F unit, what line is that?

Evening all, an irish coffee Cleo, think the rains over now, winds shifted to the N., down right cold out there, and it feels more like snow weather. None forecasted yet

Got some layout in today, no real progress to talk out yet. Plan on some more this evening Oh, and don't plan on one from me like RYAN's. I don't have that much energy.

Grayfox:

JEFF: I don't recognize that color scheme on the F unit, what line is that?

That's an E unit! E6 to be exact. It's in Kansas City Southern passenger livery. I don't run passenger trains but I just had to have it when I saw it. It's a P2K on a Kato drive. I can't even hear the motor running!

Hi all still here just haven't been posting. Been dealing with what was normally a good ebayer (400+ feedback  99.8) but no payment over about a 3 week period just finally cancle the sale thru ebay yes he'll get a strike but I think unless he wants to still be a pain just leave the feedbacks alone on this one. I know I should at least do a nuetral and state 3 weeks no payment but then he does a neg back because he wants to be a southside of a donkey. I did put him on my block list so he never can bid on any of my items again.

Not much else happening around here been keeping busy with farm work. plan to try and start working on the floor here in this room soon hopefully like this weekend maybe do a little at a time. Then the walls lol. and maybe in a year or two as slow I get to things because of other items I might even get my layout started. By the way for planing purposes how far do I to give to lower or raise my track about 5" seeing I'm in O gauge I should be able to do it faster than the rest of you in n or HO. I would think. to where my trains could pull a fair load up or down. Once I get some of my figureing out on how to do this or that to transfer some files from one putor to the other (no network setup ) I'll give some pics of some of my latest additions like the 2 U36B's southern engines I picked up. The NYC passenger set. (4 cars )

By the way girls I'll have a large diet sprite and some crackers.

#welcome to all new freinds and the ones who have returned under new names (lilrob) and any other mia's that have been busy or what ever.

Time to go see the TV for a while I guess.

Hey guys.

Yep, as inch said, I am back. I've missed everyone. I'll try to stay semi-active here from now on.

I read a little on the "devil shingle" link. It is very interesting, but you'll never catch me riding it.

Nice pictures, btw, to everyone who has posted them.

And I'm glad to see that the "MIA's" are no longer mia's, including myself

Hey, trainfreak, you still have your ride? Any new additions made to it?

See y'all later,

Robert

Hello all, kinda new here at the CS but have been reading here awhile, as for the "devils shingle" in my day (30years ago) I would have rode it in a heart beat and wondered is this all there is?  Now it's "No Way Man"  Old folks don"t heal as fast.   Mike
