Evening Bob. Whatever do you mean? Trouble with what? As long as it is in English, I can read it. Understanding it is another matter. I don't do windows,{glass ones} and I DO NOT do good with 'puters.
Hope your wife is doing better.

Hi Ed:
Was that last paragraph directed to me or someone else because I don't know anythng about an SP (pause) (long pregnent pause) Ha Ha Ha - I just caught on - that's a good one. I do own several Daylight trains, one pulled by a 4-8-4, and one by a PA and PB. I even have a set of Kato cars and an E-8 in that Normal scale.

The only reason that I got on this late was to see if I had an answer to railimage.

I've had a good day today, working on the TT. I saw that guy's article when I went to railimage this morning and it sure was interesting to read. It was almost the same path that I just went down. When he was talking about using cardboard I thought that it was an older kit - I didn't realize until almost the end that it was in "N" scale.

You told me how to preview the post, now why is it in such a w i d e format? I have to keep going back and forth to read it and us old folks have trouble with that - Don't we Fla/Phil?

Thanks for thinking about me.

Ya'll have a blessed day and remember SANTA FE ALL THE WAY

jhhJim: I've read quite a few of Watchman Nee's books. (A while ago now) I tried to email you through the forum, but the window won't open enough to show the "send" button, and won't respond to attempts to increase its size.
So, how about you send me an email, and I can reply. I'm interested in why you posted what you did, but am not sure the rest of the coffee shop would be as interested.[:D]

Bob: If you get out of the train room any time soon, please go into your Kodak program and look at the properties of the photos you want to post. If they are more than, say 500 K each then see if the program will allow you to adjust the properties. The dpi (dots per inch?) may be adjustable. If so, bring it down to about 96 or so. See if that has lowered the file size of the photo to the 500K or less level.
If the program doesn't let you change thte dpi, it may let you change the size in inches. My Vivitar camera yields photos that my program claims are 22 inches by 15 inches or so!!!! That yilds a photo file of several million, and we are after just 1/2 million or less. So, I cut the inches down to down to 6x4, and that drops the file size to a more reasonable range. All this is helpful when uploading. Railimages will resize automatically, but it's best to feed it about the right sized chuncks to begin with, and takes less time to upoad as well.

Let us know how you get on.

Good Morning All:

I've turned on the heat up stairs so I can "play" all day. I told Mrs "T" that today was my day and I was going to enjoy it.

My roundhouse has turned out very nice. Now it's ready for the TT. I've laid out all of the radial tracks and will cut the pit hole as soon as it's painted (that gives me more time to think about the location.)
Jim:
When you were talking about Adrian you said " So you can see he has a good head on his shoulders. He likes the Lehigh Valley Railroad and trains." That's kind of and oxemoron(SP). How can he have a good head on his sholders and like the Leeky Valley, when the SANTA FE is out there? Ha Ha Ha. I must abmit I do have two of their "wrong way door" box cars, they are unique.

John:
Step one is complete - I have applied for a slot on railimages. I'll let you know when I receive a reply. Their post said "normally in touch within 48 hours". I think that the weekend will probably be very busy and may take longer.

Ed:
Remember, I told you about the plywood prarie, and that's all that it is.
I saw a post over on Railimages about a CMR turntable being constructed and it was very interesting and I could identfy with just about everything as I'd just done it except mine is Horrably Oversized and his was Normal.
One of my problems is I work on what suits me, I just got through making the rest of the track bumpers from an ME kit. I got four of them done, took them upstairs and got sidetracked running trains - that was two weeks ago. The other four were on the dinning room table and Mrs. "T" wanted to know when I was going to get through, so last night I glued the other four together (took about 45 minutes).

So many projects and so little time Boy, you can sure see that I'm getting old it used to be "so many girls and so little time."

Fergie:
I trust that Lisa is getting better. I still haven't heard from "myowncollection" yet.

Well I'm off to the train room for a good day

Ya'll have a blessed day and remember SANTA FE ALL THE WAY

Good morning train lovers. RFD at 9 a.m. is showing " Garratts" from South Africa..If it's the same show from a couple years ago it gets some nice closeups.

Fergie [:)]

James, awwww, I am not wearing a tux so no need to be soooooo formal. Jim the nic will do just fine. [:D] [;)] [:D] [:p] [;)]

Good thing I lit the floor furnance, it is now 45 at 145 am. I have resorted back to my "owl" habits since I don't have to work Saturday. I did get REAL sleepy and went to bed but woke up and walked the dog, when I got back in the house the one eyed monster said, "Hey Buddy, can you spare a few minutes?" So here I am. [;)]

Congrats Noah on the engines WSOR engines. You lucky devil you. [}:)] <Now since you do have my address you can send me one. [;)] I won't tell.>

I guess I will hollar at Scott and see if he can post a link about the new trainsets at the store where he works. Who knows, one of them might just be a set we cannot live without. [;)] [:p]

Der John [8D]

Sometime in the future when you have some time you might enjoy reading a book called, Spiritual Authority by Watchman Nee. This book will really open the eyes of those who read it when it comes to "Authority." All I can say is, WOW. It is a very powerful book and will humble the soul.

After looking over some pages and reading some the last few minutes I think I will go now. As some would say, "Time to sit down and shut up."

Take Care and God Bless

Greetings!

Not much on the go here but thanks for the prayers and well wishes for Lisa.
When I told her you were all pulling for her I got the strangest look, I dunno?

Anyway she's slowly on the mend thank God, as I've seen many a shipmate laid up due to a back injury and I was fearing the worst. I'm presently fighting a sinus infection and am having problems getting up a head of steam, though I had some hot and spicy chicken wings covered in Frank's Hot Sauce this evening and my sinus's were running free and clear (Oops I'm sorry No body functions should be discussed here!)

Trainfreak Nice to see you!

Fla Phil: No offence taken but I think it can apply to anyone regardless of attributes.

James: I feel your pain, though not your provider, never did, never will, heard too many horror stories! Sorry bud, but you're AOL! [:D]

Ed: the ballast keeps on settling. But I'm getting it down. (I hate ballasting!)

Bob: Good Luck and I llok forward to seeing the pics.

NEW SETS IN AT PURKEYS!

If anyone is ever in Historic Sykesville, Maryland, you should drop into Purkey's Toy Trains, and check out the MTH RailKing sets before they are gone. These are very nice sets, The Texas Special, B & O, Pennsy, and P & LE. They'll make a great Christmas gift for someone!

Noah- congrats on your new trains. You've earned them. But BIGGER congrats on being an 'A' student. What ever line of work you get into as you mature, a good education, coupled with common sense, will always be a plus. As I always told my kids, always do the best you can so No one can fault you. Best of luck to you.

Bob: A rather nice rail bridge pic was sent me by my sister-in-law yesterday. I thought you might appreciate it, despite its being blocked out somewhat by what appears to be a primitive locomtion device [;)] [:D]

There's lots of stamps she could have used, but she deliberately chose this one. Hope for the lass yet [^]

Actually I was just testing the technique for getting pics onto the railimages site, and then to here. Good thing I did, because I messed it up first time [:I]

Daughter and grandkids have arrived, so I may be off-line for some time. Have a great weekend folks. I'll check in as able.

Seems like forever since I've posted at the Coffee Shop, nothing good has happened in the past couple of days. I did find an old camera with a 50mm lense that my dad's letting me have to take picures of model and real trains.

The modern CB&Q hasn't had much going on either, if I can I will try to start painting rolling stock this month.

Anybody know any free sites to post photos on other than railimages?

Well I am back. We have had so much rain in the last few weeks that our phone lines (underground) were swimming. I could not call out or receive a call and could not get on the internet. I also found out that even at 3 am in the morning the phone company repair number is "busy". I am going to complain to the proper authorities over that. There is no way that even at 3 am that line should be busy. This whole ordeal is nothing but fishy. [:(!]

Ed [;)]

Thanks for the idea about writing a post in another program and then copy and paste it here. If I continue to have problems I may be forced to do so.

Well I guess everyone got to meet Adrian. <Crazy Kid> He is a hoot though. [;)]He has become the unofficial "fix it man" in his college dorm. For those who do not know much about him here is a little run down. He is about 6 foot 2 inches tall and this is his first year in college. He is a electrical engineering major and is in Air Force ROTC. If you have checked out his links there is a pic of him standing next to his black ford truck. He doesn't look that tall does he? Now you know how big that truck is. [;)] On his floor in the dorm everyone but he and one other guy were put on probation for a "drunk" party. He was able to talk 2 girls who were going to go to that party out of going to that party and one other young man didn't attend the party. They four stayed in Adrian's room and had pizza and cokes. EVERYONE else on the floor attended the party, got tea totally drunk/wasted/pasted out and put on probation. The next day the 3 visitors to Adrians room all thanked him for keeping them out of trouble. So you can see he has a good head on his shoulders. He likes the Lehigh Valley Railroad and trains. He is a young man any father would be proud to say, "That's my boy." <Hope he doesn't read this [:p] >

Actually we have a good many young men in the forums who have achieved some really good things in their lifetimes. Another young man (Chris) is a senior this year in high school. He is diesel qualified and steam boiler qualified (under a regular fireman) on a local short line. He is already enrolled in the Navy, and will be working on the ships engines.

So all is not lost on the youth of today. We do have some good young men in the forums.

Well Ed sent me his cold spell so now my floor furnance is lit and working. It is about 60 right now and I really don't know how low it is going but now I am ready. [:(] I sure hate to spend that money on heat but heat is better than being cold.

Does anyone have a Christmas layout up and running? I am thinking about doing something. (Ed, a small layout around the tree would certainly be appropriate.) I will have to check into that. <You too.> [;)]

Oh yeah, I went and rode the River Rail the other night. It definately won't get any speeding tickets and the ride is a little on the rough side but it was still fun. I will make a seperate post about it in the Trains.magazine forum.

Everyone Take Care and Enjoy the Weekend. [:)]

Excellent! Keeping on that track from now through university will go a long way to helping you land a good job that will allow you to buy a lot more SD40-2's and center flow hoppers.

Congrats

Well, I have any early our from school today, so I've got pllleennnttty of time to hang around today. And I have exciting news too. The WSOR and Athearn Inc have officailly put out there WSOR SD40-2 HO scale Models!!!!! I been awaiting for this! There are four road numbers avalible only on the WSOR's site at the company store, and two avalible to the public. I convinced my parents to get me two of them for chrismas(with me chipping in a little, as they're $60 a peice locos) Hopefully they'll get here by Monday or Tuesday, so I can run them!! I laso get as a FREE bonus (who can beat that) a Model of the WSOR ACF centerflow hoppers released along with the engines from Athearn. The road number I'll be getting is avalible exclusively, from the company store, which is good, as I already have the two hoppers released to the public by Athearn. I do wi***hese loco's were bluebox kits though, as then they'd be a heck of alot cheaper and I could buy more. Okay, I think I've calmed down now, on to replies......

Ed, I agree, I make sure if I have homework not to spend to much time on here. I usually always read the posts daily, but sometimes don't respond, for sake of time. I make sure get my homework done, as I'm a straight A student and want to stay that way if I can help it.

Adrian, 10-4 and thanks for the low-down on jhhtrainsplanes, will be on the look out for him in the mail box in case he does go postal good buddy....

Well, guess I better a mosey(sp?) on along, as I do have a few other things to do so,

T-T-T-That's all folks! (in my best porky the pig impression)

Bob:
QUOTE: Well I THINK I'm ready.

OK. As Ed says the photos will have to go onto a server, and then into the forum. He suggests, and I use, www.railimages.com
Clicking that link takes you to their home page. Upper left is Navigation. Click on Request Account, and follow the directions. The end result of that process should be that you will have an empty album under your name on the last page of their listings. Scroll on down past Noah's album (eventually [8D]) to a large square box called New Members Albums. Click on that, and find yours. Let us know when you've got that, and we'll look at the uploading of photos into that album.
Remember that Railimages is free. However their operation costs money. They get that from the advertizers on the site, and from donations (contributions) from users. (Is that You Sirs?[(-D]) There's a place on the site that shows you how to do that too.
Looking forward to seeing what you've got.

Teffy, remember you need to open an account at an image hosting site, like railimages, to upload your photos. They don't go directly from the computer to this forum. So if you haven't done so already, it would be a good time to click on railimages.com (or whatever other photo hosting site of choice) and get an account set up.

Speaking of Papa Ben's, I just got my email from him confirming that he had all the stuff I was ordering so he can mail it to the border!

Good Morning All:

We are finally enjoying this fall temp. We thought it'd never get here. I've taken some pictures and looked at them on the TV and some of them even look good enought to post.

Tomorrow is going to be a good train day and I hope to get the rail laid on the TT bridge and maybe get it finished so it can be painted. The pit is finishing up rather nicely.

I've got to call Digitrax about the wiring because I came up with another design yesterday. (Still trying to engineer it to death.)

John:
After my computer crash due to the lightening I couldn't find my Kodak program untill last night so now I'm going to put the pictures on my computer tonight. Tomorrow I'd like to put them on the forum - remember standing in your train room and telling me "it is simple and I'll tell you how when you're ready"? Well I THINK I'm ready. Do you remember the saying "ignorance is bliss"? That's the way I feel. With everyone else doing it I should be able to also.

Fergie:
I feel sorry for Lisa as I hate to be incapacitated and not be able to move around.

Paul:
The ball's in your court. When? If you come here and then go to Papa Ben's I might get a couple of ya'll to ride with me as it would be a GREAT reason to go to Houston. I'd have to show you were it is because the instructions would be to dificult to follow. Now I can really see that flying around here, but she wouldn't nix the idea.
I think that you may be right with the hot tools and Fergie.

Junctionfan:
It snows in TEXAS but we've never had 20 cm of it, now I would believe 7.88 INCHES or .6567 FEET.

Well let me get back to work.
Ya'll have a blessed day and remember SANTA FE ALL THE WAY

junctionfan; It snows in Texas. There have been a couple of times that I couldn't even get down my road until I put the blade on the tractor and cleared off the snow.

I got some more track cleaned yesterday. I'll try and run something soon.

Fergie again; Burned your self with the glue gun several times? Guys I think we'd better take all hot tools away from him.

'Evening All: Just a beautiful starry sky for my walk with Rosie- the- dog this evening. There had been some critter along the road, so lots of pulling and sniffing. More rain forecast for tonight/tomorrow..and so on...until Sunday. That should be sunny.
The fibre optics sample pack has arrived. These fibres sure let the light through! I held one up to the dining room light, put my finger over the end nearest the light, and instead of going out completely, as I had expected, the far end turned red! Amazing to me that it would pick up the blood colour in my finger. I've made up a first attempt signal with a fibre that's about true scale for a block signal light. I'm not convinced it will be big enough to show well on the layout. I may have to go over scale in order to have the light show. I really want this to work, as I haven't seen any micro miniature LEDs that are bicolour. (And if there were, wiring them would be, um, interesting [:D]) I don't want to go to 2 lamp (red light and green light) signals if I can help it
I know I can get micro mini LEDs that are red or green.

You're welcome. If you are worried about the blade breaking, there's always goggles [8D] [(-D]

Well, Im off. Thanks for the coffee, and Noah, [#ditto] on what Ed said. Keep up the good work, and stay out of here if there's real stuff needs doing. You've got your priorities right, it seems. Good luck with the big December thing.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Well I think I’m about caught up on lost sleep from election night. Maybe it’s time to get back to normal around here. I don’t watch much television (other than pro football and the World Series every 86 years [;)] ) but did want to see the returns. The only channel down here with coverage was CNN en Español. [|(] I really dislike CNN in general and their ‘sound bite’ approach to reporting, but it was the only game in town. I think I finally folded my tent around 2 or 3 a.m. (CST) when it became obvious that Ohio wasn’t going to be decided that night. I’m really happy that things were decided the following day. We didn’t need to drag things through the courts again.

Cool front blew in last night. No I didn’t say ‘cold’. Got down to around 60 last night and only into the mid-70’s today….. Okay, you northern tier staters and residents of the frozen north can stop laughing and rolling around on the floor now. [(-D] For us down here this is relief from the heat. The wife’s family is already starting to shiver.

Came to a starting realization today. I’ve only got a couple of weeks left to work on the layout until it needs to go into virtual hiding until after Xmas is over!!! [:O] The place where it has been sitting these past couple of months is the place where THE TREE has to go. I’m not even going to try to argue with the VP of Finance and Real Estate over this one. There’s no real option. I suppose that will give me a chance to concentrate on some of the projects I’ve got laying around like the InterMountain tank car kits that I need to assemble.

Tom, it’s good to hear that Shawna was finally able to go back to school. Hope she can make up the lost work without too much problem.

Fergie, guess it’s time to switch our prayers to Lisa. I fell and hurt my back about three years ago. What a pain (literally). Biggest problem (aside from trying not to move) was getting in and out of bed. The only good thing that came out of it was that Fran insisted that we buy a recliner (it was easier for me to sit and sleep in) that vibrated and had heat!!! It’s still my favorite chair to watch football or read in, although I no longer use the ‘heat’ option. [:)]

QUOTE: Fergie: Pitter patter let’s get at ‘er.

I haven’t heard that in over 30 years. When I was working in Sarnia in the early 70’s a lot of my local friends used that a lot!

QUOTE: Fergie: Anyway it wasn't a bad day on the MR. Replaced 4 feet of track and reballasted it along with the parallel main line. The Consolidation doesn't hop off the tracks anymore so it looks like I'm in business again.

Looks like you’re just a bit ahead of me there.

QUOTE: Jim: I am here but don't know for how long. AOL kicked me off 4 times last night. Tonight only once so far.

You didn’t comment last time I suggested it so maybe you don’t like the idea, but I’ll suggest once more that you get in the habit of writing your posts in Word, saving your work as you go, then cutting and pasting them into a reply window. It will really save on the nerves and blood pressure when you lose the signal.

Noah, I can understand the homework thing keeping you away from the forum. Nice to see you have enough discipline to avoid getting sucked in here for a long time. But also nice to see you keep dropping in.

Thanks for the tip on the thin box cutter blades, John. That might work for me too.

QUOTE: Teffy: I haven't seen "pachyderm" used in years.

Now that you mention it, Bob, I don’t recall seeing it lately either. But it was fairly common when I was growing up. Probably part of what I perceive as a “dumbing down” of the language in general, but we don’t need to go down that path here on this forum.

Well that’s enough for now. See you all later.

Regards

Ed
