Good Friday Evening: I’ll have a Chinese Green Tea please Chloë.  That’s reminded me, I’ve got to make up a new batch of “midnight snack” before I go to bed tonight.Chef [C=:-)]

I’m a few pages behind, so some reading to do while I sip that tea.Big Smile [:D]

Much cooler here today, and rain came on this afternoon, will clear out overnight sometime.  Forecast good for the weekend, and not too hot.Thumbs Up [tup]

PC:  I’ve emailed you on the quotes thing.

That sure is some progress in one day on the house. Gets more boring once the inside work is underway!  That’s a mighty fine layout room you have planned, and Normal wil make good sense in there.Approve [^]

Where do you guys go when you're not here?
..I’m signed up for the Atlas forum (N I think) but hardly ever go there.

This CS takes all my virtual mrr time.Wink [;)]

TrolleyRob:

Der -Do you want to trade ? I haven't been able to work outside in our yard for almost two weeks,
…Nope, see above!Wink [;)]  That touchdown was indeed close to the museum, as I recall.

Scott:

I wouldn't need to worry about it. But I still want to be sure.
…I think that’s wise in this day and age.Big Smile [:D]

UKSteve: You built that layout in a week!!?? Buildings and all?Cool [8D]Bow [bow]

Hope the sinus op. went OK.  Let us know.

Luc: Glad to hear that Gloria’s situation is more hopeful. We’ll keep praying.Angel [angel]

Paul: As you say, the day went south!...redeemed by the hobby shop though, so not a total waste. Good luck getting the power company to rescind the 4 months undelivered service.

OZJim: On the eBay feedback thing, I’d report him too. I’ve totally given up on eBay. The shipping charges here turn any perceived bargain into a waste of money.Disapprove [V]

That’s it for me today, as I’ve that Chef [C=:-)] thing to do yet.

Goodnight all, and God Bless.  Prayers continuing for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel [angel]

Evening all!

That Chinese Green Tea sounds good.  How about a glass of that Chloe?  Thanks

Noah, I had'nt seen a couple of those sites, but they're pretty cool!  And you're quite handy with that camera on those proto photo's!  Nice work!

der, I'm on the Atlas N forum too, though not as much as here.  I go by "Autumns Ridge" there.

Hey, wanna see something cool?

The second story of my new house went up today!

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/House/Captured2006-8-400003.jpg

Now if they'd only put in the stairs I could go check out the new train room!  I'll get plenty of pics when that happens.  For now, it's the room with three windows over the garage.

PC, whats the estimated date of completion of the house?  Looks good with the second story on.  Guess the roof is next.  It's always amazing to me how fast something like this can be done, then I look in my backyard at one of my storage sheds and wonder if/when I'll ever get the shingles put on to finish off that roof...always faster when someone else is doing it, unless it's your own kids.Laugh [(-D]

T think I'm going out today or tomorrow to get the foundation material for my layout...have a large upstairs room (24'x32'), but too overwhelming looking at the whole room, so I'll start in one corner.  Perfect weather day here in the central Shenandoah Valley today...cooler, no rain, just made for a ride.  Might have to cruise over to the warm springs for a soak.

I just purchased this week three old-time passenger coaches and two old-time flat cars for my steam only layout, all on eBay.  I actually teach a class on eBay at the local community college, and it has been interesting listening to the different comments on the camera sale by James earlier.  I have over 900 feedbacks and consider myself lucky to still have a 100% rating.  There are just too many nuts, inconsiderate people and con artists out there to expect each and every transaction will go smoothly and properly.  Factor in the US Postal Service rules and handling, and you have a recipe for conflict.  The final nail in the coffin is eBay itself.  Their fees are too high for what they do, and the market will correct this in the very near future.  As for James' situation, receiving negative feedback and a request for a refund on a camera that purportedly didn't work soon after receipt...eBay and PayPal can be your worst enemy as the seller.  If a complaint is filed with PayPal, presuming payment was made via PayPal, they can actually reverse the payment without your (the seller's) consent.  On the negative feedback, once it is posted, it is vitually impossible to remove as the seller.  James, your best bet is to post a response to the negative stating camera worked, sold as is, etc, in the abbreviated apce eBay provides for explanation/response.  Most future buyers will look at your overall feedback and realize this negative was a kook.  If you are selling something the other party wants, one negative with a reasonable response (be polite and cool, calm & collected) will not affect future sales.  As everyone knows who has tried to contact eBay about something like this, that's a waste of time.  They don't really have the time, interest or resources to help you.  Just a fact.  Ebay has many positives, and some negatives.  Fixing feedbacks (accuracy) is one of the negatives. My 2 cents [2c]

In the immortal words of the smartest American I ever knew, Forrest Gump, "That's all I got to say about that".

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.  Happy Model Railroading to all!

They're talking about the end of September to finish it.  And yes, the roof is next.  They've already brought the framework for it.  It's sitting across the street from the house now.  Those things do go up quick, that's for sure!

Well Paul, "we" didn't see much today, but that's OK.  A bad day railfanning is better then a good day at work I guess!  Here's what we did see;

We saw this cool old feed mill......

Then we caught this train just pulling out of the yard.....

And that was about it!

Had a great day in the shed cleaned out some of the junk( one problem with being out there everyone seems to forget it's for my trains), so I had some room to work. placed my mountain pass and finished laying the track it's starting to look promising( a month from now I may change my mind but for now), now it's time to start landscaping.

Inch, Home-scool is a lot of work but well worth it, my Owen(8) is in the 99% for the country(CAT score). This year will be a lot more work, James is starting 1st and Trevor is 4 . So I'm going to have to find ways to keep Trevor busy while I work with James.

Bye for now!

Evening Gang: I went by the newly found LHS and bought that LGB 2-6-0. It is a real good looking model that is not done up real fancy. It's just a good working locomotive.Big Smile [:D]

There isn't much else going on. I've got a bit of a flee problem in the basement. I can't figure where they came from since the animals haven't been down there. I set off a couple of bug sprays so I hope that will take care of the problem. There must not be a lot of them since I only get one per visit. Of course I haven't been staying down there long. Angry [:(!]Banged Head [banghead]

The LHS is nice but very small. They have a good stock of parts and a fair amount of buildings and rolling stock. They have a Heljan turntable in stock that I may pick up. They only thing is they don't give discounts normally. The shop in Denton gives up to 20% so the drive pays off for a large purchase.

PC: That feed mill is great. All those roof angles and the missing corragated siding with the wood under is great.

Well I think that I'll head for bed. It's early but the morning comes early.

Good Night All

Mornin all, just some coffee for now please Janie.

Going to a little warmer today, but still better than it was. Didn't get much of any thing done yesterday, I ended up with kids. Couldn't say no, since they're daddy was working on Mothers bus. By the time they left I was to lazy to do much.

PC , thanks for the photos, the mill looks like some of them round here

PAUL, the flees are mostly likely in the yard. We have that problem here, and have too spray the yard out 3-4 feet from the house.

NIGEL, nice looking back drop, just crying out for clouds .

Here's some Sunday pics, all taken from the campground. Caught 2 passing, the W. bound is on the S. siding.

Seen this CSX and ???, looks like its in primer

Pair of BNSF

and a pair of HLCX

Not much planned for today other than the normal Sunday stuff. Mother picked up the 2 by's for the shed rafters, so I'll start on them today and still have to frame a couple windows in before I can start on the tin. Time fur chores, hope ya'll have a good day

PC, Thanks for the compliments on the photos. Yeah, railfanning is my main other hobby besides model railroading, and it’s usually where I get most of my modeling ideas from. I go railfanning with a guy who has been taking rail photos for close to 35 years, and so he knows a lot of tips and tricks of the trade. I’ve really learned a lot from him, and my photography has really improved as of late.

You take some nice shots yourself, I almost always enjoy seeing your posts here in the coffee shop with CSX trains. I don’t see much CSX myself, as the nearest CSX line to me is probably Chicago, and that’s several hundred miles away!

Adam, good to see you back into the coffee shop again! Haven’t seen you a whole lot over at NTRES either lately, hopefully you’ll start stopping by both places more often again. Interesting to hear you are going into N scale, I hope it works out good for you.

Okay guys, it looks like I'm buying today, so lets give PC's credit card some time to cool off and have the girls put it on my tab. PC credit card has been used so much lately, it's starting to look like a break shoe that's just come down a steep grade; red hot!

Well, I went out armed with my camera again this morning.  Missed the only two trains that came by, but I did get some shots of the other side of the grain elevator.  Check this out.

This one I showed yesterday....

Here's some from the other sides.......

Adam: I  can't  believe that you went over to the Dark Side. I guess PC was too much with his " Adam I am your father. Come join the dark side."

I saw where Fergie started something with that post on the trailer park people. I guess he should have explained to us south of the border folks that he was refering to a TV show. Come to think of it I think I'm classed as a red neck. I've got a VW bug in the front yard with 4 flat tires, a 97 F-150 with a froze up engine, an Allis Chalmers tractor waiting to be restored, a pile of gravel for the driveway, and a pile of scrapmetal that I'm affraid to haul off because I may need a piece someday. Opps, no trailer to live in thourh.

Nigel: That track work looks good. Nice sweeping curves. I try to have a little curve instead of a long straight when possible. I think that it looks better.

It's about 45 minutes to go home time. I thought about stopping by that hobby shop that is open on Sunday but caution says don't push a good thing. Mary Ann is not in a good mood. She is having to deal with the producers of the gas well and would like to get her hands on there throats. It's a good thing that they are in Houston.

I'll check out the basement when I get home. I hope that it is flea free. Also all those other little bugs that play havoc with my stuff.

So long for now.

Good Afternoon All!

How about a cup of coffee please, Chloe?  Thanks.

Wow!  if you don't visit this place once a day your lost.Wow!! [wow]

So welcome all the newcomers.  And, prayers for all you need it.

PC:  Sound like the house is progressing even if there are some headaches.  Good luck.

As for all the pictures....Great Shots!!  I love the yard shots.

Life on my end is just busy.  We have a number of friends have been going through some very tough times.  Helping out is great but it does limit other activities (like posting in the coffee house).

My whole family is starting Tae Kwon Do.  My youngest has been doing it for about six months and he enjoys it.  My wife and oldest son got interested while watching my youngest do it.  And, since the price is the same whether two or ten members of the family join, I decided to give it a try.  Great exercise!

As for the MRR front, we replaced the controller on my youngest Lionel set and it now works great.  I guess Lionel had some issues with that particular unit. The LHS which deals with "O" gauge was really helpful.

We are still waiting for Bachmann to ship the SP Daylight.  It would have been great if Bachmann would have stated that the units would not be ready until September when they published their 2006 catalog.  My oldest son has been good about this...His grandparents on the other hand...Whistling [:-^]

I think we are going to get the NCE powercab.  It is a nice entry level system.  It is expandable and has a dunce friendly interface.  And that dunce friendly interface is just what I need.

RT:   You have been in my prayers every day.  One thing to remember, Your mother just lives in the past and is not suffering from this.  It sure is hard on the rest of us though.

My mother was visiting one time when she was 85 and as we started to take her back to her care center the car wasn't working right so I turned it around about a mile from home to trade for our van.  It was winter so I had her and the wife go back inside until the van warmed up a bit.  As mom walked through the entry hall, having been gone all of ten minutes, she looked around and said. "This is a nice place.  Have I been here before?"

Bitter sweet memories and a bit funny sometimes.  Remember the good times.  Like all the train trips my mother took us kids on in the 40's.

I'll get the coffee.    TARP

Howdy Folk's, good to be back but it's a very fast moving place, hope i can keep up.

just got out of hospital today so i'm feeling pretty crap, i had the cheek, forehead and back of the throaght sinus's drilled out as they were full of diseased tissue, they took the 5" long inflatable packings out today and what a blood bath we had, kind of like drowning, not nice.

As for the kids layout i just got all the snap track together into something that fit the space and nailed the stuff down, all the buildings are second hand from a guy on the East Lancs railway, it was a case of placing them in whatever position fit best and working round them
