Evenin', fellow CS'ers (soon to be we're-not-sure-just-yet...)! Zoe, a cup of your finest JR special and a hot fudge sundae, if you haven't packed things up just yet for the move.
I'm fairly flexible, but would lean toward Trackside Diner - both for the RR connection and because café sounds almost too upscale for some of our parties in here... But I'd second the idea of OzJim having the honors of picking the name for the new sign out front. Attaboy, good thing you were 'laying low' and noticed the trucks are still underneath.
It's looked like old home week today in the Shop, with all the people stopping by. Good to see everyone, and good that all the CS'ers are finding out about the move ahead of time. I'm sure the ladies (and the twins' cousins) will arrange enough (ahem!) 'volunteers' to get everything moved to the new place and setup. They're resourceful (yeah, that's how to say it...).
Well, I'd better quit my sippin' and eatin', and help the ladies get some things boxed up for the move. See everyone in the new location in the morning!
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Hey just ran an older engine of mine (1977) Its an 2-4-2 Wabash with lionel early sound added to it. (Its advance for me as I don't have any command control or anything) but This engine does do a chug sound (electronic not the wheel in the tender) as the engine goes and speeds up as the engine does. For back then its pretty neat. boy have we come a long way in the last 30 years. lol .
For the coffee shop or track side dinner its ashamed that we can't have some pic of a track side dinner appear at the top of every post like we can do for our signature.

So far so good. I'd only like to ask that we be a diner not a cafe as really we do get a full menu here and more. Besides methinks diner sounds more like where i'd go if I were a train type.
Hooked up a test/programming track and set up the MRC. Fired up my sons' E-3 BLI loco. BIG MISTAKE!!!! I now need sound in the rest of the equipe! This is so cool controling all the sounds I just gotta have some for myself! Programmed my old faithful Spectrum 4-8-2 no sweat, now for the fun - I need to do the non-DCC ready stuff and get decoders for 9 pin plug and play Athearn plus the rest of the fleet. Wish me luck - here I go into the brave new world. J.R.
Hey, I'm game!
OZ, you pick the name and kick it off!
I'm kinda lookin' forward to it now!
And welcome to the new face too! Just follow us. In a couple of days James is going to show us the new place!
Evening Gang: Well I was kind of looking forward to seeing post 2000, but if it will help the loading time, that's Jake with me. Dial up is slow enough with out any help.
Not much going on today. We were told by our account that we had to make some purches for the ranch or Uncle would be getting a bunch of our money. It ain't easy as it may seem to spend a bunch on stuff for the ranch when it's time critical. Tomorrow we will try and finish up. The stuff needs to be somethings that we really need. no sence buying a bunch of junk we won't use. I just have to remind myself the train stuff is not on the list.
Oz: If you can handle it I'd say that you should do it. As for the name, Trackside Cafe, Coffee Shop, or whatever is OK here. The name isn't as important as the gang. It's the people that have made this so great.
Well it's good night and I'll be back in tomorrow.
Awww...We're moving??? That's a bummer...I was waiting for the big 2000...Oh well...New location, same girls. Wouldn't want to loose the fabulous service 'round here.
So y'all, what's up?
Had a pretty decent day at the train store today. I just love the little kids that show up. No one lights up like they do when they hear the trains start up, and then they follow them all around the layout for as long as their parents will let them. You can't get that anywhere else but a train store. You have to get 'em while they're young, and then they'll be hooked. Kids love toy trains.
Well, I guess I'll have a root beer float there Chloe. Thank ya.

Hey another way to look at this is take it as an honnor to be asked to do this how many other threads are long enough to be asked to restart.
I myself not really thrilled with the name of a few other in here like the beer barn if thats what you want fine to me its like promoting drinking to our youth thou.
So the trackside cafe or track side lounge or trackside coffee shop which ever sounds great to me.
I wonder if any of the other forums coffee shops are long enough to be asked to restart lol. Bet not .
Well all have a good evening talk to you all later
By the way Welcome steam freak
Going along with what DER JOHN said, shorter is better, and what STEAMFREAK suggested, Trackside Cafe, that works for me a little better than Trackside Coffee Shop. I suppose Trackside Diner would work too, short, railroad theme, etc.
Good idea to have OZ JIM start the thread at 12 midnight Australia time....however, someone will have to make sure that OZ Jim stays away from the punch bowl, we all remember last year in the CS!!!!!! We'll have to tie ye Kangeroo down mate.

Trackside Coffee Shop has a nice ring to it. In fact if we're going to have to move it's easy as you may have noticed whilst laying on the ground the Coffee Shop is in fact an old Budd diner and is still on its' trucks, so all we need to do is move it to a new siding and .... bada bing bada boom you gotta new location! (And please be generous and don't ask how I came to be laying on the ground the other night outside the shop - i did splain to Bruno that I was merely a little short on the tab and would make it up this week).
So we don't all become foolish trying to make the first post or "mess" up (sorry Fergie) the new place I second James' generous offer to be the first on OZ's new year and get us started. Adds a nice international touch to a favorite place and ensures James'star will shine on the address until we get booted out again (just kidding David - after all you are currently my hero for fixing my office link).
Well, lots to do here but I'll check back in later tonight and see what the "sense of the meeting" is. CUL, J.R.

Ok Dinners is on me. Unfortunately it's Batch night and dinner is Microwaved prefab chicken dinner and washed down with South African white wine (or juice for those of you not yet of age).
What's this I hear about Chloe and Flo moving the CS to better digs? Someone said a character name Voss made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
If we're voting, I like "The Trackside Coffee Shop", we can keep the view of the tracks that way. And with OZ Jim, most likely being the first one from the CS to welcome the new year, he can have the ribbon cutting honors.
Quickly, why don't I start the new thread? since Downunder it will be New years sooner? Just a thought....

As for the name...I'm easy what about The coffee shop (reloaded) ?
In other news, Mum and myself had to step into a case of domestic voilence this morning, where a young mother and daughter were being beaten up by her husband/partner, called the police and they took him away, she is ok, but i'm sure she'll be scared when he comes home.
anyway,

Trackside Coffee Shop gets my vote also... so David, when do you want us to start the new Coffee Shop, 12:01am January 1st???
Hi folks, I’ve been catching up while a rock casting “in place” has been setting up. Jerry, great to see you are back home. We are hip deep in grandkids for a couple of days, but I am getting a bit of mrr time none the less.
David, thanks for the explanation, I couldn’t see the point of the change until you cleared it up. Actually a change like this would give me a chance to re-organize some image files, because the breaks in the links to the Coffee Shop thread wouldn’t matter. BTW, what can the girls get you virtual beverage wise?
Or does anyone else have a nifty new name for it?
Well, the casting didn’t work quite as I hoped it would. Still, it was a tight wrap around a projecting scenery base, and so was rather full of voids. I can patch it together, and fill the joints with a little plaster, finished with that crumpled foil tip that is in the Dec. MR.
Tea time, so TTFN.

All,
I posted 3 new pictures in my LS&W album. Today I started laying ballast on the yard tracks. I sprayed the rails with rust and flew over that with black to give the rails a subdued weathered look rather than trying to brush just the rust color on the rails. The Ballast is just getting laid. This layout as with my last layout I'm using crushed clay (AKA cat litter) this is the non-clumping variety that sells for $1/ 10 pounds much cheaper than the $8 for 2 pounds of gypsum at the LHS. The litter will dry white/grey after about 2 days then I weather the ballast with a dirty grey concoction of air brush paint.
I also posted a new album: Middlefield N scale club. The club was in the basement of the old train depot. The city fathers thought a model train layout would bring revenue to the Historical Society to remodel the train station and the inside of the caboose. After about 1.5 years of work the train club was evicted and the local quilter's guild or someone like that was given the space. Before this layout they were an HO group. I haven't heard of any thought about putting the layout back together, I think everyone just took their trains and left.
Enjoy,
Lee

LOL! I'm sure Bergie would appreciate that.
Seriously, it really needs to be someone else.
I do like "The Trackside Coffee Shop" as well.
Wow, post something about moving the Coffee Shop and we rip through a page and a half in record time!
The Trackside Coffee Shop, huh? OK, I'm game!
And I think our man David Voss is just the man to open it up, don't you think? (That way we know where he is so we can keep an eye on him!)
I want a seat by the window so I can watch the trains go by! LOL!

Now that I've been found out, I'm going to have to remove this post and delete your account.
Just kidding.
JimRCGMO wrote:So I'm wondering (if David's following our posts), how does one go about moving/setting up a new forum?
Just need someone to start a new post w/ whatever name that's decided upon. After that's started, we'll get a link added at the end of this thread directing people to the new CS.
The Trackside Coffee Shop
I like it!
Good afternoon! Zoe, a cup of coffee and one of those omelets like Jeff had, please. (Might want to put it into a to-go box, in case we have to move the CS down the block on short notice...
I've been reading the news about moving the CS. I just want to make sure the new place has a corner booth also, and that Zoe and Chloe (and the rest of the crew) can be hired on for the new place. Oh yeah, I want that pool table moved there too, please.
So I'm wondering (if David's following our posts), how does one go about moving/setting up a new forum? And we should make suggestions on the name for CS2 - like maybe:
"The New and Improved Coffee Shop" ? Or, who has other suggestions for a name?
[edit] Saw the other suggestion "The Trackside Coffee Shop" - I like it! Got my vote (if we're counting).
David's idea about a post in the last page is good, so the people who aren't in everyday can find the bread crumb trail down the block to the new place. Thanks, David - and hope all your family gets feeling better ASAP!
Well, I need to go run some errands, so leave a sign on the door if you move while I'm away this afternoon.

Hi David!
TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE!
Hope your kids are feeling better, and you can get some well deserved sleep.
I've been in the same situation myself before, plus had a bug that gave ame a cough that just wouldn't go away!
So the Doc gave me some pennicillin, and that combined with a session in my home sauna everyday for a week, finally got rid of it!
Best wishes for the new year!
Well we could also make 10 identical threads, keep them very close together and call them all 'Starbucks' :)
"The Trackside Coffee Shop"
I like this!
