I know what you mean about catching shots at great locations and the trouble you can have making that happen. Did you read my account of railfanning yesterday? Much the same as your experience I'll bet.

Thanks for the kind words. I did find out this morning that my cousin had come to know the Lord recently, so that eases my mind a great deal.

Glad you enjoyed the pics! No, I don't juggle. You should have seen all the pics that I threw out. Man, I had pics of everything but trains on there from that experience. I got pics of grass moving at 60MPH, trees, my car's mirror, road, oncoming traffic, the door pillar, you name it! Those were just the ones that actually had trains in them!

It was great to just get out and chase trains though. Very relaxing! I'd recommend it to anyone!

How about a tall cup O Joe! The cob webs need a brush away this morning! And since it is on PC’s plastic, I guess I’ll have two eggs sunny side up, two sausage links and hickory smoked bacon, some home fried potatoes and onions, a couple slices of buttered wheat toast, some of Ed’s OJ (if there is any) and of course a refill of some tall cup O Joe!

I did get a chance to work in the yard in between the showers this weekend. And it is still raining on the way into work this morning. Rain, rain, go away, come back another day! Seems to be the current chant here in the north east. We are under flood watch warnings until tomorrow; I think the drought is over for our area, and water restrictions were lifted about a month ago.

I got some good progress on the layout this weekend. Cut a large supply of cleats and screwed in about 6 of them on the joists, and I got the first three sheets of ¾” plywood for the sub-roadbed put down too. Also reprinted the 1:1 track plans and started taping them together for the track laying template. I just need to take a few photos of the current progress and post on my layout website. My Mouser wire and electrical supplies order came in Friday, including 400’ of AWG 20 feeder wire and 200’ of AWG 14 bus wire. I have an order in at the LHS for 200 pieces of cork roadbed, should be getting that in within the next few days.

My younger son had is 11th birthday party on Saturday, and he had a few close friends over for a day of fun at our house. They played basketball in the front, hide and go seek inside, and played a few video games. Ben organized the whole event, and we helped him with a few details of course, but for an 11 year old I was proud of him for pulling off the event himself. Not to brag too much, but we went to one of our friends birthday party on Sunday and don’t you know Ben pitched in and gave him some of the birthday money he had just gotten on Saturday! He is one of the most unselfish kids I know!

PC Great to hear that the trains and railfanning had that kind of effect on you. Sounds like great therapy, I might have to try that too soon! There is just something about getting out on the road, driving,, watching and following all that moving mass of locomotive power that has a calming effect, don’t it!

Mornin all, just some coffee Zoe,
Made it through a busy Sunday, we all ate way to much at mom’s, also found out my sister’s grandson Brandon was run over by a riding mower, broke his hand [4 places], took a big chunk off his butt, took off his little toe and cut his foot up bad. He’ll be OK, but still has to have skin graphs in 3 weeks.
J Birds 2’nd burthen day party went great, thought maybe ya’ll might enjoy some of the pics. She really liked the cake grandma made her,





I think this was her favorite present.

Long time AWOL I know... been so focused on preparing that Philly clinic that I haven't been participating in this Coffeeshop or the one across the street. Haven't read more than 3 pages back, but I notice quite a few of the 'old gang' have been here [not 'naming names' for fear of missing somebody]. I feel like a drowned rat now, it's been pouring down rain continuously here in MD for the past 3 hours [it displays as dark red on the Weather.com radar maps]. And it is supposed to be like this for the next two days - yuk![xx(] (Paul, did you get enough rain recently where you're at, maybe I can send some of this your way?)

But if I was in your shoes I would definitely opt for the layout tours - there's a bunch of great ones in that area and it would a shame to miss them. As I was telling Duke in an email, I won't be there after July 6 - there is this annual vacation trip that we coordinate with a few other families so I was overwhelmingly outvoted on going during the 'open' [to nonmemebers] part of the National show. Oh well, I'm too broke anyway...

Oh yeah I almost forgot to mention - I traded in my old corporate logo for a new one!

Actually 6/25 should be a New Moon. I may have the exact date wrong since I don't look at this stuff when I'm not at work. New, quarter, half or full, the BBS world has a foul wind blowing through right now.[:(][V]

As for NCE, I have been wondering if it would be best to go with the PowerPro over the PowerCab. The PowerCab is the right price but only four engines makes me wonder if I'm going to grow out of the thing quickly. On the other hand, if I don't, I'll have way too much with the PowerPro. It would be nice if there was something in between 4 and 50 engines.

Also, if I purchased the PowerCab and later want to upgrade to the PowerPro, how much of the Cab is compatable with the Pro?

I really wish I could go to the train show in July. I could see all these different DCC systems and ask millions of annoying newbie questions.[;)][:p]

Good afternoon gents......we got back from a week in Maine along the seacoast, at Ogunquit. Luckily we had great weather, but as we checked out on Friday, the sky let loose with everything it had. It downpoured until we reached the Mass border, then we had hot steamy weather the rest of the way home.

I tried to see NOVA SCOTIA and LUC, JOHN & FERGIE across the gulf of Maine, but no dice, too much sea fog way out there over the 58F water, in fact, I could barely see Boon Island Lighthouse 20 miles out. The seafood was outstanding as usual.

A big welcome to PAT and any other new member of the CS while I was away.

I have a few pages to check back on, so I will get that soon.

I visited TWO Model RR stores while away. One was at Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, on route 1. It was part of an Antique store on the 1st floor with MRR on the 2nd floor. He had Lionel, HO and N guage. Not too much of a selection of HO though, but what he did have was reasonably priced. I purchased 4 cars at $13.50 each and no sales tax (NH).
The other MRR store was in Chelmsford, Ma on route 4, about 3 miles east of I-495. This LHS was called Maine Trains, and he had one of the neatest stores that I have seen. It was in a small strip Mall of about 6 stores, and his stock was very good, he had a small HO layout, and it was just featured in the June Model RR Craftsman mag. He had a nice selection of Diesels, a small selection of Steam, and a very good selection of track, turnouts, cars, woodland scenics, etc. There was a track setup so that you could try out the locos if you wanted, which I did, I purchased an 0-8-0, DCC ready and 4 cars at an average price of $15 ( Athearn RTR ). The owner was real pleasant guy, and seemed knowledgeable, he is from England, and had a nice selection of double decker English buses ( not for sale ).

So that is about it from central Massachusetts ( Algonquin native American word meaning " land of many hills" ). Raining, again and we already have an entire 6 months rain in 25 days of June. Talk later,

OK, so I'm off to this new railfanning spot I found to get some pics today. It's a 1910 six arch concrete viaduct over a large creek. It's on the CSX doubletrack mainline out of the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana.


So I'm sittin' there for about an hour and it's getting hot. The only action I'm catching on film is this.....


"I need a drink" I said to myself. So off I go to the local gas station to get a coke. Wouldn't you know it, the minute I come out of the station I can hear the train in the distance commin'. I race back to my spot just in time to see the locomotive go screaming by! Darn! Missed it! Wait a minute, maybe not! I jump back in my car and drive along the tracks trying to catch up. I'm making progress! Then I discover why. There's a signal ahead for the train to stop. Great! As the train comes to a halt I'm right there, camara in hand. After talking with the two engineers for a few minutes (real nice guy's) they let me grab a few shots before they were on their way.

And the fruit of all my labors? Check it out!

We loved all the pictures that are shown here because the closest we get to a RR is in portland and that is only twice a month now and sometimes we don't get to close to rail lines

.....I'm working on getting the RR room ready to paint again BUT 65degrees and 85% humidity is no fun. So all is put off for a few days untill all this crazy weather changes. I'm baaaack! There are 2 Chessie cars on the track and I got both in the camera. { Boy is that a heavy darn thing to tote.} Also got some pictures of the passenger train we have for the tourist runs. The "Silver Bridle" is supposed to be from a Cal. Zephyr consist. I guess Ed can tell us. Also a couple of shots of the GP-20 with its new paint job.
