Hey everybody.

Hmm, a 5' x 9' ping pong table good for an N scale layout. That sounds a lot like what mine is going to be, except it is going to be on plywood, not an old ping pong table. I'll gladly help with the layout. [:D]

We had our traditional Christmas party at Purkey's Toy Trains, and its sister business Craftsman Art Company. This is the second one I've been to, and the best one yet. Everyone just laughing their heads off, and eating cookies and stuff. Good times, good times.

Now, I just have to decide what I want to get myself for Christmas.

Just finished taking a ride in the cab of NPR 4-8-4 #765. Watched the engineer and the fireman working together hauling a 30 car excursion run. Man! It ain't easy.

Robert, very nice color scheme - not too ornate, and not too plain (like some modern schemes can be, IMHO). Looks like a working railroad, rather than like a 'poser'.[tup]

Lupo and PennsyHoosier, very nice graphics - did you do those yourself, or find them? Nice touch for the holiday.

TrainFreak (Scott), congrats on the pay raise![yeah] So have you begun your list of how you'll spend it yet? My downfall when I worked in places where I liked the stuff (camera store, computer store, etc.) in the past was, I think I spent a fair chunk of my pay there.[;)]

Fergie, I have only one piece of advice for you this holiday:

Paul, I couldn't have said it better myself. I have a twinge of guilt for not being overseas with my fellow servicemen and women; I can thank God for blessing me with another holiday season home with my family.

I'd like to bring a motion in front of the hobby Shop. I noticed that our "layout" here, if you can call it that, is rather unfinished and small. I would like to bring a motion forward that all tips from now on go towards the making of a new, slightly larger layout. Something with DCC, that we can operate while eating. Maybe we could even install controls at each table, just type the decoder number in. What'da ya think?

Well, I hope you all are having a great Christmas, I am. Went to my Aunts today, filled myself up, and came home. Got a few more train $$ in my pocket too. I guess, I'll get going though, my Dad's bugging me to get on the computer. We'll see you!

Carefull Ed, you're starting to sound like my wife. In the summer it's too hot she can't wait for the winter and the cold weather. In the winter it's too cold can't wait for the warm in the summer.

Warthogdvr; Where did the Dill come from. Is that going to be your new handle? I know how you feel. I felt that way after I came back from Nam. A part of me wanted to get back there in the fray with my buddies.

Rdl; You got to stop with the paint schemes. Now I don't know which one I like best. This lastest is real good. If the red were a little darker it would look like an earlyer scheme. The other one looks like a scheme that the RR would have gone to to simplify and reduce the costs of painting. Hard choice to make. Better get estamites from the paint suppervisor. BTW. your post earlyer with the pic's I only got a box with a red X. Today it came through OK. ???????

Good to see you back Warthogdrvr/Dill! So tell me, does weather like this lately cramp an A-10's style any (like getting off the ground, for example)? I'm sure it is hard for the troops to be away from family and home. Saw that Letterman showed up in Iraq to do a show there. He asked for a volunteer to hold his cue cards, and several people put their hands up. He said, "Careful, guys, that's how you got here!" He's reported as having taped a show, so it might be on TV later on. Probably helped out some of the morale for the troops there (unless they're Leno fans?).

Well, my dinner timer went off, so I'll stop for now. Rinsed my cup out and put it on the rack. Looks like a close one with the Raiders and the Chiefs so far.

Merry Christmas Coffee Addicts!

Here's my nickname for the Shop; "The Self Help Coffee Addicts Anonymous of OnLine America Group." I call it a Self Help group because it is a group of coffee lovers who help themselves to the coffee.

Christmas turned out better than what I expected. I got two N Scale train sets (Bachmann Spectrum Stationmaster, and a McKinley Explorer), a Lionel Alarm Clock, and Lionel calender, a hand made wooden loco sculpture, and Railroad Tycoon II Platinum. Plus, the gift certificates and such.

But, then again, the best part of Christmas this year was seeing how happy my girlfriend was when I gave her what I had got for her. Just making her smile like that, that made my Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone, to all members of the SHCAAOAG (try pronouncing that acronym.)

Just 40 minutes of Christmas day left here, so I've dropped in for a nightcap,so to speak.

Can't remember such an enjoyable and restful Christmas. We even had a dusting of snow to wake up to this morning [:O] After all the rain it was a surprise. Cold enough to justfy a fire in the wood stove this evening. Excellent music playing most of the day.
On the food front we had Roast Lamb and 5 veggies, with Kris' special sugar free Christmas pudding to follow [dinner]
To top the day off, the TV had the CP Holiday Train program, and "A Child's Christmas in Wales" by Dylan Thomas. So, Noah, we got to see something of what you saw. Quite the train, and quite the concept too.

New paint scheme is the best looking yet Robert. I like the way you've used the grey to back the letters. [^]

I'm afraid this is already a word! It's Klingon for "Your sister is uglier than you", which if I'm not mistaken is a compliment of the highest order. Though not a Trekie I like their culture, especially "promotion the Klingon way, attrition"!

Mitchell: You'll find some of the older crowd don't really care for coffee cup holders. A better option would be intervenous drip! I suspect with you being in the height of summer right now you must find the talk of snow quite amusing. Got any snow removal gear on the GDR? If not we lease! especially as we have no snow to speak of. Opps I hear a volley of snow balls incoming from the west..... Duck!!

Well Christmas has come and I had a very nice but quiet one at home. My BLI heavy Mike is a screamer, especially on that climb along the back nine (actually a 15' straight length across the back) Hauling twenty cars opened up in full stride and the whistle just a holler'n! Lisa got me two Soundtraxx systems, one for my smoking Bachmann 2-8-0 and the other for heavy steam, which one I haven't figured yet.

Came back onboard last night and was able to decal five cars. That extra coat of Tester's Decal set firmed up the decal perfectly so now I'm cooking with gas!

Anyway time to go to work. just a stroll to the Bridge!

Hope everyone had a Merry Holiday! I'm in kind of dispare this morning and down hearted. You see, I awoke yesterday morning and checked my stocking and found a lump of real coal in it. Now I figure that its a trick gift and got to thinking, coal--fuel for a steam loco--- thats it!!!! There must be a live steam engine waiting for me somewhere. Well, Iv'e searched and searched everywhere and can't find it. I've even begged my wife to tell me where it is but all she'll do is give me one of those funny smiles--- oh yeah, she's enjoying this. Anyway, I figure Bubba (>^..^<) is in on this too, so I've been following him around all morning, thinking he'll lead me to it. It ain't happening, the only place he lead me to is the litter box!!! Oh well, I'll find it sooner or later!!! At least I've found some good coffee here this morning---- must be Ferggie's,-- it's got that old Navy sea water taste to it!! [:O][:O][(-D][(-D]

Funny How I've been lobbing jabs at you poor souls regarding the snow. Well I see sNoah has been saving a belates Xmass gift for me. Yes that's right Environment Canada has issued an Heavy Snow Fall warning for Halifax and the Eastern Shore. So X is still the unknown and their will be a mass of it. So Merry XMass!. John and Luc time to dust off the shovels and show these sissy's how it's supposed to be done. (Here kid, here's a $20) To think I shovelled driveways for $2.50[:(]
