Not mush on the plate for today. Manly get through the day here at work. I'll slip out to my little orange building and do some more on the Cliffs Shaft. It is coming together nicely. I called the folks at the Cliffs Theme Park last week and got a recorded message. I explained what I was loooking for and left my cell no. I haven't heard anything back yet.
I guess I'll head back into the park and finish up then to the orange building.

I guess us older old f--ts have a lot to be thankful for, like Brian going into service. Went into the Navy in 58 and out in 62. Americans were being killed in Nam when I was released from active service. When i got home I joined the local Navy Reserves. Always expected to be called back but I guess like Flip someone had other plans for me. When someone would talk against Nam I would just turn and wqlk away. I felt like they didn't need an explantation. I still do that today when they talk against the President and his decissions. That seems to work because the don't bring the subject up again. I am not for war, but I am for Liberty and Freedom. Brian, never doubt that what you are doing is the right thing. It is and you will be proud of your decissions.

This is one smart poodle
A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her faithful aged poodle named Cuddles, along for the company.One day the poodle starts chasing butterflies and before long, Cuddles discovers that he's lost.. Wandering about, he notices a leopard headingrapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old poodle thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap the old poodle exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?"Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old poodle nearly had me!"Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it forprotection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the old poodle sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that connivingcanine!Now, the old poodle sees the leopard co ming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old poodle says."Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!Moral of this story....Don't mess with old farts...age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill! BS and brilliance only come with age and experience.If you don't send this to five "old" friends right away there will be five fewer people laughing in the world.I am in no way insinuating that any of you are old, some are just more youthfully challenged. Evening Gang: Well PeoplePC is still showing the page cannot be displayed. I hate to try and call there help line. If they are anything like EV1 I'll be on hold for a half hour or more. I'll call my buddy first and see if he has any ideas. I can always try re-loading the disk.
Lee: Thanks for the offer of pictures. I've been researching the lakes and the lakes shipping and iron ore mining for quite some time. If anyone in Texas wants to get information on the lakes they would be better coming to me since I've got more in my library then the city does. Down here if you ask someone to name the five grate lakes they go Tawokanee, Sam Raburn, Possum Kingdom, etc. I would like to hear about your adventures if you would feel like telling them.
Neal: I enjoy that joke very much. I really appreaciated the large print. I've got an appointment with the eye doc for Friday afternoon.
I hit the train show again on my way home tonight. It was a good thing that I did. The fellow that I got the 2 MDC taper side ore cars from found 4 more so I scarfed them up. I also got a book on the Chicago, North Shore, & Milwaukee intererbin. That was one of the railroads that we used to hang out around way back when.
I got alittle more done on the Cliffs mine head today. It may actually come out alright despite the lack of drawings. I do need to try and get some idea on the track layout though. I'm not going to try and duplicate it I just want the ideas it may launch.
Well I'm going to hit the sack.

Coffee and one of Bills donuts please Zoe. Spent Sat at the museum working in the yard and Sunday doing chores and cleaning the work area in the basement. I can now see the workbench and there be trains there.
Welcome Brian and Lee. I served in the Navy from 70 - 73 most of it riding carriers in the Tonkin Gulf. I have a little different take on current events than many of the other regulars, but one thing we all agree on is that we owe a debt to those willing to step up and defend our country. It is doubly hard when it is not the popular or easy thing to do and those of us who went through Nam work extra hard to see that those who step forward now are treated with the dignity and respect they so deserve. Thank you.
Inch - Wasn't sure either team wanted to win last night, but da Bears looked much better than last week. This was for me one of those agonizing games where the Giants end up looking like deer frozen in the headlights. The runback after the short field goal attempt was all I could take but congrats on the win.
Lots to do this week - need to get the Lotus 7 reassembled and ready for Summit Point after Thanksgiving. Still need the new gearbox and diff unit, but the rest can go together now. CUL, J.R.

Good morning! How about an order of those Maple Pecan Waffles with a side of Country Sugar Smoked Ham, and some Café au Lait for breakfast this morning? Thanks Chloe!
Busy weekend and spent some time workin on the railroad too! Friday I soldered all the flex track for the staging yard, painted all the plywood an earth tone flat latex interior paint and painted the cork roadbed with grey flat latex interior paint. Also cut out more track templates for the remaining sections on the lower level.
Work in the yard on Saturday raking leaves and cut the grass (hopefully for the last time until spring time) for just over 3 hours. I was wiped out after all that work in the yard. I would estimate that about half the leaves have fallen from the trees, the maple is turned red and yellow, and the Bradford pear tree is just turning red, the oak leaves are yellow and brown. The paper birch leaves are all about fallen off, and the dogwoods are all red now.

Dick, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Chicken soup is good for that stuff. Sinus infections are not fun, most times antibiotics will help with them too. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Afternoon All:I just got back to the shop from Gold River after fixing Yosemity Sam. It took about an hour and a half to get set up to work on him and about half an hour to get to the problem. One of the air lines got a crack at the fitting and came off the valve. It took all of 3 minutes to fix and then another hour to put him back together and test him out and put all the stuff back that I had taken out. Sheess, I love this job.
Ryan: The name Cliffs shaft refers to the Cliveland Cliffs Company that owned the mines. I'm not having to do any cliffs ( the rock kind) for this. I do have a bunch of silicone rock molds that I made off of rocks here at the park. They will come into play one day.
Dick: Take it easy there old man. Stay out of the weather.
Fergie: For a sailor to get the vertigo you must feel like you are back aboard ship. You didn't say what steam locomotives you bought. What arte they? Nosey people want to know.
Well gang I'm 64 years old or young depending on how you look at it. Tonight we are going to Golden Coral for supper. Us vets eat free. All the steak we can eat.

After breakfast, felt woosie so I took a real hot shower and fell asleep until noontime.......after some chicken soup, feeling a little better, not sure what is going on yet, might be a sinus infection that has the inner ear affected also.
Hey Grayfox, that sounds pretty nasty. At least you don't have the problem I have. There are two organs in your head that control balance and orientation. One of mine is completely destroyed and the other is severely damaged. If I close my eyes while I'm standing up or the lights go out at night and the room is totally dark, I'll get very dizzy and lose my balance instantly because my brain doesn't know which way is up. I've lived with this most of my life.
