Good Morning All,

`Late start this morning, but i"ll have that coconut covered donut from Bills' platter and a cup of Lucs' coffee - cream / no  sugar (regular for those of us around here).

Road Atlanta was the season ender for SVRA and it went well except for our crew chief having the motor blow while he was driving the company Caldwell Formula Ford.. Our lead driver Travis Engen won the endurance series championship outright, and five out of six other catagories he was eligible for. We finished up second overall in the overall sprint race series as well. Not too shabby. One of our friends won amateur mechanic of the year and another won an award given in honor of Charlie Gibson for sportsmanship and vintage spirit.

Got a couple of hours in on the layout last night working on the incline between levels and the tank farm in the back corner.

Jeffery - nice pics lately of the layout. The airconditioner that keeps cropping up in the backround is crying out to get a backround building made of it. Maybe a large power plant heat exchanger so you can keep the vent functional. The boiler section could go over the controls and hinge on the bottom - just a thought.

All for now the truck is back and we need to unload and get on with work. CULBig Smile [:D], J.R.

Good morning, I’ll have a spot of hot tea and a scone with some Devonshire cream this morning!

Near freezing temps this morning, it was 33 degrees on the drive into work.

You know it is early in the morning when you walk out to the truck and you see the stars above your head, boy was it cold too. Seeing the sunrise behind your back on the drive into work each day is a good thing though!

Jeff, thanks for covering that PA train wreck. Any idea what caused the derailment? Nice work on the Athearn F7A recondition!

PC, sorry for missing lunch time yesterday! What was for lunch anyway? You know the sky is the limit when it’s on me OK! I had a ham and cheese sandwich and a wonderful grape salad, just trying to save a few pennies….err…. I mean calories….

Paul, how about some pics of the mine shaft project!!!

PA, snow huh! Make any snowmen?

Luc, I try to avoid that competition these days.

Welcome to the CS David! Sign - Welcome [#welcome] The last time I seen any snow was on Christmas day 2004.

Naw, I think they just went back to Jr. High.

Morning everyone!

Since the coconut donut is gone I'll take the coffee cake and some of that coffee all natural (black).

Ryan, a warm ham and swiss on rye sounds pretty good!  Jeff's buying today though, so I think I might be feeling extravagant!

Morning Gang: Well here I am at work again but today is a company play day. We have a meeting at 9:00am where I will get my 30yr service award. It's hard to think that I've been in this asylum for 30yrs.

Ryan: I'll have to get my friend to come over and help me out with posting some pics. Of course I'd better take some first.

Time to go. I think that my wife should get the award since she has put up with getting me out the door and listening to me rant at night.

See you all later.

Good morning gents, brrrr a chilly 39.3F this morning, cloudy, snow to the north across Vt, NH and ME. I see there was also snow all the way south into the western mountains of NC!!!

MRR Update: As some of you guys already know from reading my thread in the General forum, I am trying to kitbash an FP9 from a Kaslo FP9 shell, and an Atlas GP-38 model 9000.
It looks like these two items with some milling and added water tanks etc. will do the job. Will be ordering from Central Hobbies in Vancouver, BC today.

JEFF: WHAT?????? You don't like snow in Louisianna??? Tsk, tsk, I can't imagine why..lol And, you never learned to ski in LA??? I can't imagine why not!!! lol
Don't you just love it when a bully gets his just do?

PC: Phil, I didn't know you were up at Sugarloaf ? You should see the pics from there today!!! Over 6" of powder!! Trees are all still in leaf but covered with white.....Currier and Ives scene for sure. BTW, I noticed that you have changed your Avatar from a gunfighter to a more peaceful character....is this indicative of a change of some sort?

RYAN: I see from the weather channel radar that the NC mountains received some snow overnight....a sign that Winter is not far away.
psssst.....Project Report???

Remember Ryan, the object of all dedicated employees of the CS is to anticipate all problems in advance, and to have solutions to all problems before they even occur. HOWEVER, when your up to your a.. in alligators, it's very difficult to remind yourself, that your original objective was to DRAIN THE SWAMP!!!

LUC: Nice pic of you on the ironing board, your a man of many talents!!

RT: You had snow in the mountains to the west also!!! It may be an early Winter, I hope you have your firewood in the shed.

PA MIKE: Yup, you guys received an early sign of Winter too!! And more is due this Friday with another cold front coming in from Canada.

IL MIKE: The Air Force huh, why did I know that!! LOL And you must have said after you did your first jump....now THIS is a REAL parachute!!!

TRAIN MASTER: A BIG WELCOME David!!!! You have joined an elite band of brothers and a few sisters too, like Lisa from NH. And, you have a Master MRR Builder in your own home town with Jeff. You will find that the members of the Coffee Shop, or more commonly abbreviated to the CS, are highly intelligent, and can solve not only all MRR problems, but also have ready solutions for all problems in the world.

NeO6874: Welcome to the CS !!! Please do stop by when you get a chance, have a coffee or breakfast on my tab. Tell us about yourself?

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Oh yeah!  Deputy Dawg was real threatening, wasn't he? Wink [;)]

Naw, no change, other then I like to mix it up a bit sometimes.

As to Sugarloaf, I've been there a few times.  I have a lot of family in Thorndike, Knox, Unity, Palermo, Deer Isle, and Belfast, so I've been around the block up there once or twice.  Used to spend my summers up there on the grandparents farm halfway between Belfast and Brooks when I was growing up.

As I've stated above - I'm from Cleveland OH. I'm a CS Major @ John Carroll in my junior year, and just getting back into the hobby after about 6 or 7 years. Gave up mostly because I had no space (or money), and then aftr we moved to a bigger house a few years ago, stuff walked away - though at best I had 2 trainset locos and 5 cars..nothing major.

Was bit *HARD* by the MRR bug at the beginning of the year, (or, as others have had it, had a relapse of the MRR Virus) just as spring ws starting, so have been lurking/posting here since then. I guess the biggest thing that selaed the deal for me was the NMRA show at the Berea Fairgrounds 2 weeks ago - I got my first steamer(yep, I think this time around the virus is going to be something I have to contend with for the rest of my life).  I have plans for a  prospective layout in the Layouts and Layout Building section, and I think I've just about finalized the plan - though new insight is always welcome Smile [:)]. I (someday) hope to be able to model some part of the PRR, usind mostly hand-laid track, though at the moment I'm rather limited in space, so i'm going with a smallish division point yard/interchange.

If you've seen some of my other posts/threads - I want to be able to do things similar to prototype, through handlaid track, kits, and when my skills get geed enough, scratchbuilding.  I guess I'm not much like my generation who all want instant gratification....

I dunno really... I have a set but I don't have a tutor other than my band instructor.
I'm just figuring things out by myself, listening to music, reading books...

There is a great drum place near my house... but its really expensive...($3 grand a term!)

My sister hates anything that is loud... (even the little click clack of the metal wheels of model trains she thinks is loud...!) So I can't ask her.
I've only played the drums for a year now, and I got my set two months ago.
My band teacher thinks I'm good tho.

Hoople,

Just remember, you can have the best equipment in the world, but if you have no talent, well.......

But I've heard awesome music come from the biggest piece of garbage instruments when talent is involved.

I'm betting that the band director ISN'T looking at your equipment if you catch my drift.

Keep at it!

That location is about a 5 hour drive west of here and is in the area near Boone, NC.

Here in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) area we get low temps but not a whole lot of snow.
