ME TOO!
Good morning all!
Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. And inch, I thought delivery was included?
Well, well, .....9/11. Truly a sad day in American history. My heart goes out to all those who were affected by the events of five years ago. Prayers go out as well to all those survivors and family as they continue to deal with the horrors of that day.
A moment of silence for all those who lost their lives.........
Good Morning Everyone.
In honor of the attacks that took place on September 11, 2001; the attacks on the World Trade Center Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the brave people of Flight 93, I have found the inspiration to continue my poetry work, and have combined it with my Photoshop works to create a piece for the Fifth Anniversary of 9/11.
Please read it, it means a lot to me.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!ALWAYS REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 11.

Today is better thanks for all your thoughts . We will dearly miss Edythe she has been a great freind to my mother and my family like she has to a lot of others. I do wish the suffering would end if it means her passing as she doesn't deserve to suffer.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Scott & HEward: You two have said it all. Scott good job on the poem. I'm going to put that into a file and print it out. HE thanks for putting into words what I have felt for the last 5 years. Very well said.
Not much else to say now. Lunch is almost over so I'll back on out.
God Bless the U.S.A
Man, RT, that's double tough. I've lost several people that I was close to and it's always hard. But the hardest ones are the ones where you know it's coming and there's nothing you can do about it, ya know?
Just know that when you need us, we're here for you, OK?

A short remembrance in honor of the victims of 9/11/01:
In respect of those who were affected by the terrorist attacks five years ago today, to the innocent victims and the surviving family members we offer our thoughts and prayers in the memory of those who have gone before us. Amen
Also, a continued thank you goes out to those who continue to protect our freedoms and liberty in the face of terrorism home and abroad.
The weekend went just about as planned. I got a large portion of benchwork completed on the layout Friday, the north wall portion of the bracket sections for the lower level are completed. I also extended the double mainline sub-roadbed 8 more feet and printed out the next 8 foot section for the next cookie-cutter cuts.
Saturday was busy; we all got haircuts and then went to the NCSU football game, a lot of fun even though we lost to the Akron Zips on the last play of the game. We had seats at the 10 yard line on the 15th row and got to sit in front of both the NCSU touchdowns on our side of the field. I am still horse this morning, I tend to yell a lot at football games.
Then we went to the Family Fall Festival at Camp Kanata, it is a YMCA camp just west of Wake Forest. We went canoeing around in the lake, then went to the archery field and attempted to shoot at a target set out 20 yards, then Ben and I played some basketball in the gym, and attempted to get to the rifle range but the activities ended so we went to the dining hall and had dinner, then to the campfire for smores.
Ok, so here goes about five pages of catching up since my last post on Thursday…
Welcome back Ed! Is the mail system really that bad south of the border? Or is it more of a security and customs issue?
PA Belt, good question, I am still trying to answer that one too!
RT, that’s one killer cat you got there! How many rounds can it shot in a minute?
Paul, keep them pecans coming! These pie shells in the kitchen are patiently awaiting some fresh nuts to be filled before baking.
Jim, sounds like your layout is coming along too! I have been working on that same stage on my layout, lots of cork gluing.
Great questions there Inch, I got just about all of them too… not sure if that is a good thing though. Hey now, that looks like one monster of an ice cream making machine attached to that John Deere… What flavor you makin?
And the consist you photographed showed the reporting marks of DODX - United States Department of Defense (Military Traffic Management Command), according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AAR_reporting_marks:_D
Nice website link Colby, thanks for sharing that in the CS, we could all us some track safety.
Hey Scott, kudos to you man for pulling it all off! You are not out of your mind, but some days I bet you feel pulled in many directions. And I really enjoyed reading your 9/11 tribute poem, great job!
Welcome back LUPO! Looks like you had a great trip in the States.
Happy Birthday PC! Sorry I missed the party, but you are still just a babe in the woods at 41 eh!
Der John, that is good news for both you and the boy! And glad to hear that Florence is supposed to stay out to sea, we dodged another one….
RT, prayers for you and Edythe! If it makes you feel any better, I found a great suit with matching pants and jacket at the local second hand store when I was interviewing for jobs after the move. Paid $3.00 for each piece can’t beat a $6.00 suit used for landing a full time job! You’d be surprised what great finds you can stumble on at second hand stores!
Thoughts and prayers to all in their time of need!

Good Morning All,
Haven't caught up on the last book of posts, but we're now back off the road for a couple of weeks (well almost - we're sending two crew and two cars to Road America Weds am). Watkins Glen went ok, we ended up running 12 cars but lost two to a 6 car wreck at the top of the esses, and one motor went south. At least the injuries were limited to a couple of bruises. The worst part of the weekend was my friends wife falling out of their car during the re-enactment parade downtown and getting run over. Talking to the officials, they will require seat belts for all occupants in future as a prerequesit for participation. Many of our British friends come over here with no belts whatsoever in their race cars (that's how they did it then mate). Lime Rock the week before was better with only a few issues on the four cars and three class wins. I hope to get smoe MRR time in and get aback to the museum yard this week as I hear the DL-701 is getting lonely without me chipping on its' paint.
Rt - You and Edyth remain in our prayers. CUL - J.R.
Morning all,
Well it looks like I am way behind on the mail again.
Belated [bday] PC: Sorry I missed the party but that sure was a beautiful cake Mike's Misses backed for you. I remember 41 just like it was yesterday. You see that's when I met MoM. We where married three years later. That was 21 years ago. This has been some of the best 21 years of my life. Wouldn't trade them for all the tea in China.
SCOTT: Great poem. I think it will be a long time before anyone forgets 9/11 and the kaos of that day. Excellent job!
ED: Wish I would have known you was in the market for pecans. We have 15 trees that produce the large Stewart Select paper shells.
Unlike Paul, you get a chance to see what I have to offer. I think I can give you a better price than Paul because I don't route them on my railroad,
Sorry PAUL: but competition is fierce. LOL
the chair repair man got me going about 9 ...man its good to be able to go again..
JERRY: Good to hear you got your wheels fixed. Those things were not made for those Jack Rabbit starts and hair pin curves.
INCH: Excellent photos as always. Those hornet can't be reconed with. I know. Had one hit me in the middle of the forhead when I was a kid. Both eyes swole up and couldn't see. Have respected them eversince.
WELCOME BACK TO ALL THAT HAS BEEN AWAY FOR A WHILE.
RT: How you dress doesn't matter. Our prayers are with you, yours, and with Edythe.
NEWS FLASH: NEWS FLASH: The train room in Hattiesburg is about 50% complete. The contractor told me yesterday it should be complete by this Friday. I'll post some before and after pictures when it's complete.
Last week while waiting at a red lite I saw an engine going into the old Hercules Plant in Hattiesburg. Could't get a good picture but I did see that it was an IC #9605. By the time I got the camera out and ready to take a picture it was going behind the large tank in the middle.
While in Hattiesburg I found that engine again.
Maybe someone can tell me what kind of engine this is in that I really don't know a lot about desiels.
He was switching these coil cars on the Canidan National track.
Got a little rain this morning but I still have a lot to do today. Got to go back to Hattiesburg tomorrow.
Later all.........NEAL
Morning All!
A fine morning it is too! Wet, but fine! It's raining here. Been raining since last night. I was kind of hoping to have the chance to work on my car last night as the thermostat needs changed, but oh well. See, I have to work outside right now as the garage is full of stuff thats ready to move to the new house at the end of the month.
Soooo, how's everyone doing?
RT, is Edyth any better? I feel for ya man.
GMT, how's the friends wife? You didn't say if she was hurt. I hope not too much, although being run over can't be pleasent!
Well hey! Look at that!
I get the privilage of buying you all some of the fine food and drink that our wonderful hostesses serve up!
But it looks kind of empty in here right now!
I don't get into this coffee shop very much, being busy on many other forums as I am. Pc, it sounds like you've got a big job ahead of you, what with the move and all. You really should replace the thermostat in the car, changing out a cracked cylinder head ain't fun, especially when it's a high performance engine like mine, where a cylinder head can cost over $1,000. OUCH!
Everybody else, a hearty top 'o' the mornin' to ya.

Man, I didn't realize that I was that much of a blabbermouth! 2999 posts now! WOW! I had a lot of worthless things to say! I just hope I said something useful somewhere in there!
As long as I stay moving the car doesn't get hot right now, and staying moving isn't real hard with all the country roads around here. As far as doing the job, it's one of those modular V6 deals that Ford came out with about a decade ago, so changing it is a real bear! My thought is, it was a free car, and I have an extra car right now, so if the engine blows I'll just send it to the scrapyard and drive the other one. I don't want that to happen, but if it does.......

I'm always ready to negotiate a deal for some of our famous Orange Juice. I'm not much of a pecan lover, but they are a favorite of Fran's.

Unless I miss my guess, that's a GP-38-2. Actually, it's more than a guess. Check here to see the current roster of IC locomotives:

And besides being a blabber mouth think of all the drinks and food that you've bought.
Lisa: Bummer on the back. I hope that it clears up soon.
I'll see you all later.
Oh. Cloe, I'll have an egg and bacon sandwich and a cup of coffee, since PC is buying.
Mornin all, coffee Zoe please, yes I know PC's buying. I'll be nice for now
Rained here most the night, stopped now but more comin laters, no kids today thankfully. It makes for a long day when they can't go outside. Been doing chores n MRR'ing this morning. If I get a far as I hope, then I get some paint on tomorrow [hope hope]
RT,,, sorry to hear bout Edythe, our thoughts will be with you and yours
PC,,,, the cake was free, all you have to pay is the delivery charge of $50. Change the themastat, it's cheaper than replacing car, even a free one.
Gray fox ,,, I'm starting to notice more leaves turning here too. Soon be that time of year and I'm not ready. I plan on taking down 4 ash trees in the yard this fall [deseised], so less work next year.
Scott ,,, good job on the poem, A+++
HEward,,, like you we were all touch that day, just not the same way. But when you take disipline, respect for others and yourself, and the things thats taught in the 10 commandments out of school, and replace it with tolorence and self right, this is what you get. You end up with people with no hope, being taught by a few radicals. Teaching the truth not as it is, but as they see it. And then using those they've taught to force their ideas on others... The world is a more dangerous place now than any other time.
Jerry,, don't know the name of the band, I'll have to ask Mother. She should know. I got to meet Sarge, liked him too.
Ryan,,, sounds like you had a busy fun filled weekend. Just made plain ol vanilla ice cream, 6 gal, wasn't much left either.
GMT,, sounds like you've had some busy racing weekends lately. Don't know why some people would want to race without a seat belt, even if thats how they use to do it.
NEAL,, Almost thanks for the pecan pics, my mouth waterin for Aunt France's pie now, But thanks for the train pics. Learned years ago not mess with hornets. I swear they can track ya down and get you somehow.
Dick,, I'll try n be in bout noon for lunch. Since PC's buying, I think we can eat real good.
ED,, thanks for the IC roster. I can use it.
LISA,, sorry to hear bout the back, I know to well how much of a pain it can be. At least there is some good news on your step father.
Got thiis in my email last evening
TWO THOUSAND ONE, NINE ELEVEN (2001-911)
Two thousand one, nine eleven
Three thousand plus arrive in heaven
As they pass through the gate,
Thousands more appear in wait
A bearded man with stovepipe hat
Steps forward saying, "Lets sit, lets chat"
They settle down in seats of clouds
A man named Martin shouts out proud
"I have a dream!" and once he did
The Newcomer said, "Your dream still lives."
Groups of soldiers in blue and gray
Others in khaki, and green then say
"We're from Bull Run, Yorktown, the Maine"
The Newcomer said, "You died not in vain."
From a man on sticks one could hear
"The only thing we have to fear.
The Newcomer said, "We know the rest,
trust us sir, we've passed that test."
"Courage doesn't hide in caves
You can't bury freedom, in a grave,"
The Newcomers had heard this voice before
A distinct Yankees twang from Hyannisport shores
A silence fell within the mist
Somehow the Newcomer knew that this
Meant time had come for her to say
What was in the hearts of the five thousand plus that day
"Back on Earth, we wrote reports,
Watched our children play in sports
Worked our gardens, sang our songs
Went to church and clipped coupons
We smiled, we laughed, we cried, we fought
Unlike you, great we're not"
The tall man in the stovepipe hat
Stood and said, "Don't talk like that!
Look at your country, look and see
You died for freedom, just like me"
Then, before them all appeared a scene
Of rubbled streets and twisted beams
Death, destruction, smoke and dust
And people working just 'cause they must
Hauling ash, lifting stones,
Knee deep in hell, but not alone
"Look! Blackman, Whiteman, Brownman, Yellowman
Side by side helping their fellow man!"
So said Martin, as he watched the scene
"Even from nightmares, can be born a dream."
Down below three firemen raised
The colors high into ashen haze
The soldiers above had seen it before
On Iwo Jima back in '45
The man on sticks studied everything closely
Then shared his perceptions on what he saw mostly
"I see pain, I see tears,
I see sorrow -- but I don't see fear."
"You left behind husbands and wives
Daughters and sons and so many lives
are suffering now because of this wrong
But look very closely. You're not really gone.
All of those people, even those who've never met you
All of their lives, they'll never forget you
Don't you see what has happened?
Don't you see what you've done?
You've brought them together, together as one.
With that the man in the stovepipe hat said
"Take my hand," and from there he led
three thousand plus heroes, Newcomers to heaven
On this day, two thousand one, nine eleven
