Colby. Good to see you back. How have you been doing?
Not much going on with the MRRing. Of course I've been here at work so that explains that. I have been doing alittle on my breaks. I got some pieces for the concrete head frame for the mine cut out of PVC sheet. I'm using 3mm stuff that is scraps from the sign shop. Inch that's the thing to do. Go to sign shops and see if they have scraps that you can have or buy. Most of the stuff our sign shop uses is 3mm and 6mm, some 13mm. The 3mm I cut with a #11 knife, the 6 with a band saw. I'm going to get a sheet of 1mm and 2mm. That will only cost me $33 and I'll have a life time supply.
Well time to hit the road. See you all later.

Work on your car!
Howdy y'all, just a quick note from me. I haven't been on in so long, I'm not even going to attempt to read the pages I have missed...
We are settled back in Sykesville. Some items are still in storage; some things are still packed up in our boxes here at home. School has started; I'm taking Drama II, AP Calc, Computer Install and Maintenance, and Psychology. Homework every night...Guaranteed an hour at least. Plus I'm working back at Purkey's Toy Trains Thursday and Friday after school, and a good chunk of Saturday. Not only that, but I'm also starting training at Sears. I continue some training tomorrow. So I have school, and now two jobs; and little time for myself.
I hope everyone here is doing well. I'll be going.
Catch ya later.

Man 409 though you had dropped off the face of the earth or somthing? Do you get a good discount from the hobby shop you work at?
PA forget about her and keep riding your bike, women come and go all the time, just learn how to put up the big chill and they will catch you down. You give them the yeah whatever act and it drives um nuts. Don't let them think for a mintue that their getting to you.
RT, man you must have this little dark cloud just hovering over man, you just seem to get all the bad crap. You may want to see a palm reader to get a heads for what comes next.
PC, swdave told me to said hi. he said you guys go way back? Whats the scoop on that?
Well I have the 3am start so good night campers.
Happy Jack No just sometimes seems like it.
Life goes on accually had a good deal a little while ago found a junker train set on ebay selling at $12.51 and a few minutes left waited till a dare not wait no more (I have dial up) and thru a $17.35 bid out there (the only real reason bidding was a part to a train car not made anymore (in orange color which is original9 other wise have to buy a whole girder bridge for a black side and paint it orange) any way got the whole set for $13.50 plus $13.00 S&H so for $26.50 I got a part I really wanted ( about $20.00 I would have had to pay then what ever for the paint.) But I will be able to sell the track (about $15.00) transformer ($5.00) Flat Car ($10.00) Tender ($10.00) Caboose ($5.00) So in the end I'll be paid $9.50 to take the part I want . LOL. Oh forgot about broken engine I'll be able to use for parts for other trains .
Not much else happening here did cut my neighbors lawn this evening and was going to do mine but ran out of gas so will do that tomorrow night.
Everything seems calm here in the nieghbor hood seeing my boss told the party house there Lease has now expired find a new resident (he does month by month so he can get rid of trouble when ever he wishes.) Funny haven't heard a peep out of there scince hes done that . lol.
Have a good evening all

Hey Scott (409)! What's up? Good to see you again buddy. Stop by over at Rails of the World and check out all the changes! You're in for a big surprise! In case you need it, there's a link in my signature.

I think he's referring to a joke or two that he told that didn't go over so well. I was a little taken aback. But thats all in the past. I don't have any problem or anything, I just didn't think it was real good for a family forum, that's all. No problem.
How's he doing? Things going well for him I hope?
Hey fellers,
Just brought home my new "baby"! Its a GP35, Athearn # 94202. The road is Santa Fe, she is blue& yellow #3345. She is quick plug equipped and is VERY purdy!
Can't wait for cooler weather so I can finish track laying. Then I can hook up my Zephyr and run trains. I'll also be able to do more scenery so it will look more like a world instead of styrofoam land.
Went to work today but still feeling poorly.
gotta go the CFO needs help w/laundry

Went to the YMCA last night and walked 1 mile for warm-up, then ran 3.2 miles on the treadmill, going up to 6 mph, then did the 15 Cybex machines circuit. Boy, does that Ibuprofen help the pain! But I slept like a log last night!
Yea, I am off tomorrow! So far I hope to work in the train room at least for most of the day. Ben has a spy ware infection on his PC that I am going to try to repair, and his Sony Playstation 2 is not working, and going to attempt a repair on that too!
The CFO just called and said that her boss is giving us three free tickets to the NC State football game on Saturday! Cool, should be fun! GO WOLFPACK!
Eh, I am still an LSU TIGERS fan though!
Dick, that battery technology might be an interesting solution to locomotive power.
I like the pics Guilford Guy!
Inch, sounds like great temps and great clear skies in your area! Bacon sure does add a whole new flavor dimension to many dishes, eh!
PA Belt, sorry about the breakup! All I can say is that when the CFO needs attention, I give it to her! As the old saying goes when mother is upset the whole house is upset too!
Hoople, band sounds like fun, and I know what you mean about the music instructor. Most musicians think out of the box a lot!
Scott, glad to see you back in the shop! Looks like you have enough to keep you and a few other people busy. Good luck in school!
Hey Bill! Not only did you bring the donuts in again this morning, but it looks like you are buying lunch and dinner too!!!!!
Cheers,

Just when you think you have heard or seen it all? On one of our local radio talk shows this morning the DJ was talking about some women from one of the Peta tree hunger groups, that said Steve Erwin got what he deserved, getting killed by a wild animal. She saids that he was nothing but a stalker, and just used the animals that he filmed for nothing but his own gains and he could careless about the animals.
I couldn't beleive it I was like what the Steve spent his whole life working to teach us about animals and what we can do to help them. My kids watched him everyday. They loved his show plus it really helped them to recpect all animals. Well I will get off the soap box now just had to vent a little, I will be post her name when I catch it again. I am sure she will be getting her 15 mins of fame with talk like that. Nowdays the good old press just eats crap like this babe up.
RT good to hear like the cloud are clearing off for you, maybe you'll have a quiet weekend, good job on your eBay buy.
Good Afternoon Coffee Clubbers
We were out of pocket for a week or so. The daughter and son-in-law came down for a visit. We had to go to Mexico City to pick them up last week, then spent time showing them around Tuxpan, then took them up to Tampico for their flight home. That pretty well occupied any time I might have had for logging on.
Although I also didn't get anything done on the layout (so what else is new?), they did bring down a couple of packages that they had been holding for me, including a set of the Bragdon weathering powders, and a couple of reefers that I had purchased and had sent to their house. Unfortunately my new locomotives shipped late from the vendor and got to their mailbox the day after they left to come down here, so I guess I'll have to wait until we go north at Thanksgiving to collect those. It's not exactly like I'm starved for motive power anyway.
Inch, thanks for the reminder about the NFL season starting tonight. I'll have to see if any of the stations I can get will carry it. I've been so involved in watching the Boston Red Sox go through their usual second half of the season meltdown that I clean forgot that there was another sport.
Anyway, just wanted to report in and let you know that I hadn't fallen off the end of the earth.
Later

Her name is Germaine Greer. Here's a link to an article on her and her comments: http://edition.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/09/06/death.irwin.greer/index.html
Yeah, just as bad as the people who were trying to get their hands on the tape of his attack so they could show it on tv.
Regards
Hi Ed welcome back, hope the orange crop is doing good. Thanks so much for putting on that womens name, now I know I wasn't just hearing things I came into the broadcast torward the end and didn't catch her full name. I haven't looked at the link you posted for her and I don't know if I want to.
RT, must be the week for eBay i finally got my Atlas Fairbanks Trainmaster in NYC with the lighting stripes for $67.00 just about 50% off. Its the four truck model.
Well there I went again, just hate seeing someone that did has much good as Mr Erwin's name get trashed two days after his death. With his family still in mouning.
Well you guy's have a good one. See ya trackside.
now them speaking for the lady with the talk about steve this is what I think..
PC- you know what's comming..
Do I hear a 50 cal. being loaded and fired at the tree hugger???
Just to make a slight correction to someearlier comments, Ms Greer isn't an environmentalist, or tree-hugger. (Neither am I, just wanted to make that clarification.) She's Australian herself, and is really more of a feminist than anything else. (Note, I'm not a feminist either.) Here's a short Wikipedia bio about her.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germaine_GreerThe other link I provided was just to a CNN article about the uproar over her comments.
Okay, enough about Germaine Greer. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programing.
Happy Jack I sent my cat to go have a talk with her see the conversation below .

See then....you've got a full life! You want someone who shares your intrests, not complains about them. Take your car to a car show and meet a nice girl there, or at the dragstrip.
EveningGang: I just got in from mowing down by the U.P. at the pecan tree. It's Mary Anns favorite and it is loaded with nuts. As soon as I can I'm going to run all those Californians out and get to the pecans. There is going to be a good crop this year all right. The best part is I haven't seen any worm holes. Last year the tree had nuts but they were so wormy that we didn't bother picking them.
Ed good to have you back. I'll trade you some pecans for your oranges. Say pound for pound?
I got the base for the head frame put together. I finished it just in time to go back to work. I had to get the pop-up Road Runner back in before I went home.
I've got some reasearch of a site to do. It is on the structures of the mines in Upper Michigan. I'll see you all later.

How about I accept that offer before you rethink it? Sounds like a winner from my side.
By the way, we were out at the grove yesterday (going out again tomorrow) and the crop is coming along very well. I'm just starting to pick some still green oranges that will do for juice (still a bit on the tart side). We're probably 6-8 weeks away from really starting to pick.

Whose covered hoppers are those in your pics of the well cars - Athearn, Walthers, Bowser, or...? I am accumulating some early covered hoppers - for my layout’s era (mid-to-late-50’s), the 2993 cu.ft. ones are about the latest ones that will fit (Airslides are too new).
