My school has now started. I am actually taking a class at a community college for my highschool amd college math. My college class started yestereday but no homework yet.

Der John, I will have to keep the idea of building a model of the layout in the back of my mind for the next time I go at a new layout. Seems like from what you’ve told me it can help one catch at least a few things anyway. It also looks cool too!

Hoople, I see you and I go back to school on the same day this year. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been trying to squeeze every last moment of time that I can to work on some MRRing this last week! School usually gets pretty hectic for me when it starts back up, and as much as I hate it model railroading usually ends up taking a back seat. I’ll be looking forward to my first few days of vacation during the year too, that’s for sure!
Well, I’ve been having fun lately (Not!) in the MRR department trying to get my turntable running for the module. For some reason the gears between the motor and the table aren’t meshing quite right, and so I’ve been trying to figure out why so I can get it working properly. Finally had to call in the big help too, and get my Dad to try and help me see if he can find the problem. We’re still working on it, but hopefully we’ll find a solution soon.
I better get going I guess, I’ve got way to many things to do today, and I slept in late so I’m behind schedule for the day. I hate waking up after 8:00am, as it usually puts me behind, and it seems like I end up wasting half the morning!

Luct: That yard looks good. Is it apart of Gloetown? I like the covered water tower. They really need that type up there, don't they.
The weather has turned cooler. It only hit 92 today. With the breeze it wasn't bad at all. I actually felt like getting out and working on the pad for the storage building. I got the trees trimed and cut out a bunch of brush and briars. The briars got the best of the battle judging from the scars on my arms.
Opps. It looks like I am buying for everyone. Have at it gang and don't spare the horses.

I have to agree with Neal. My CFO feels a bit guilty when she goes out and spends $$$ and leaves me 'high and dry' cause I was not out shopping with them. But trust me, I do make up for it throughout the year with my various shopping sprees to the book stoes and my LHS.

Let me start by sending prayers to those of us in need.
The weekend is almost upon us and for me, I have alot of tv to watch (sports - College Football!!!! and MLB), not to mention taking more pics (organized my MRR items so I could get photos of the equipment and structures) and getting an account on rail images for me to provide you links to view them.
CFO gave me approval this morning to purchase the special publication from Kalmbach - 'Locomotives' Now I need to get her to let me get a subscription for Trains mag so I don't have to keep buying it at the stores when I see an interesting article. And also get the 2007 Walthers HO catalog and who knows whatelse.
Well all, I hope Flip and anyone else in Fla made it out ok. Looks like the Carolinas and the DelMarVa area is up next over the next 2 days. I hope the boats are at the door waiting for you all to jump in and leave

Well all Good morning its raining here and has most of the night so I'll go in to work to probally be sent home because nothin can do. I can think of plenty to do but he won't agree. Oh well
Edythe is not in good shape they took a biospse yesterday (we get results today) but had to put her on a resperator after doing that as she wasn't breathinng on her own. Hope she's doing better today will be calling to find out thru the onlyone that can get in .( she has desinated Trish a good freind as acting next of kin) (she calls her her daughter)

Chloe, since Paul is buying I’ll have the lumberjack special please!
Got 2 inches of rain in a little over an hour yesterday, the creek behind the house filled up quickly and just about reached the bottom of the foot bridge. And it was windy too, the mail box door blew off and all the mail got wet. Got the October MR issue in the mail too, it is soaked, so I have paper towels sopping up the dampness, hopefully I will be able to read it soon.
Worked in the train room for a short while last night, put on the first coating of plaster scenery mixture onto the test section of cardboard and masking tape. I had so much of the mix left over that I made another quick cardboard basket weave and masking tape module and slapped on the rest of the plaster mixture. No photos of it yet, will try to take some tonight.
It is back to school time I see for some of the young gents in the CS, good luck at school. My son Ben is in the sixth grade and he is in a year round program, he started the first track in July and is now tracked out for three weeks, he goes back to school on September 10th. The year round program has them in six week sessions with a two to three week break in between each track.

Thanks Neal, we could use all the help we can get! Ben is quite nervous with all this weather alerts and storm warnings stuff again, especially at the one year anniversary of Katrina too!

Same as yesterday here, cloudy, cool, chance of rain, thanks to Ernesto haveing everything backed up. Plan on cooking a renderin kettle of ham n beans Sat, and this weather suppose to hold through the weekend. Did get some work outside and some MRR time, not to bad a day after all.

RT, I'm sorry to hear of the problems and complications. It's always tough to see the ones you care about having tough times. She sounds like she's well loved though, and that, I'm sure, means an awful lot to her.

Inch - Probably would never have seen it there. The H-8 in the photo doesn't exist - see below.
Paul - I retired from the Air Force in '84. I run a production studio that specializes in video production and 3D animation called Pen Dragon Productions - hence, my handle! The Allegheny in the photo is a 3d anim we've done for a job. My scale is HO and my railroad is freelance loosely based on the B&M called the Hahvid Yahd & White River RR. Not large (24' x 12') using Digitrax DCC. Below is a pic of my White River Junction yard.

Hey Pdragon ( do you like Pdragon, or Dick?), love the layout pic. I've always been interested in doing a snow scene, and since I'm between layouts at the moment, this is a good time to ask a couple of questions of someone who'd know (that's you!).
What did you use for snow?
How do you like it, and would you use something different next time?
How easy is it to keep clean?
Or maybe better yet, would you not do it again because of some issue that you've come across?
The reason I ask is because I'm thinking of doing a snow setting on the next layout, but I've heard some real horror stories. I know that there has to be a "right way" to do it, and so I'm wondering what your experience has been.

Glad you like the yard. Snow is from WS. And, ya, I heard all the horror stories especially about the snow getting dirty. So, I wanted something I could vac up easily plus I wanted it to look real especially when it needs to be moved i.e., plowed, shovelled, etc. I considered different forms of 'powdered' plasters but didn't clean up well as the Woodland Scenic. And, yes, I'd use it again.
