Afternoon all, big creek high ball n and some apple pie please Cloe,
LISA,, for skeeters round here, I spray a 50/50 mix of lemon joy dish soap n ammonia with a garden hose sprayer round the yard, seems to help keep most them away. We live in a woods, so I get the brush n weeds round the edge good. The wife makes me keep all my trains n the mess in the train room, she's not even to happy when I set up one of the battery trains up for the kids on the her dinning room table.
RYAN, I use to bow fish some in the back water sloews of the Wabash down to Darwin for cat, buffalo, and carp, even did some froggin that way too. Got my first deer with a bow, #1 son's got two deer nowthat way.
Forgot to mention I got 2 more stock car kits on Ebay. Both Proto's, a Mather 40' single deck and a Mather 40' double deck, got both of them for $14.00 incuding shipping. Time to get back to chores, catch ya'll laters

Your welcome PC. Nice timing too.
Dick: Happy to hear that you are going to get some relieve. If that storm gets to the gulf there is a small chance that it may swing up into Texas. Most of the weather guessers think that it will go to northern Mexico. Ed has all the luck. Far enough north to avoid damage but close enough to bring some rain.
OK you all know what to do. I'll hit the sack and not think about the damage.
Have a Good Night All

After rain overnight, it was as hot as we remember it being here today. Kris lowered the boom on my doing yard work until this evening. That gave me a chance to go over some of that track that’s been bothering me. Happy to say things are running better now.
This is day 3 of the “Run trains every day to keep the cleaned track clean” campaign. So far, so good. I haven’t cracked under the strain.
Lisa:
Started cutting foam for my mountain pass ( had to do it in dining room) the blue foam doesn't make as big of a mess as the "ball" type but still have bit of mess to clean up before my husand gets home. He's great about the trains, Just hates the mess, one reason I'm in shed instead of dining room where I was.
Sorry, we should have warned you away from the white foam that’s little beads pressed together. Pink or Blue “extruded” foam is what you’re after. I guess we’re so used to NOT using the white that we forgot to mention it. Sounds like you’re going for a new mountain and a fresh start. Ed’s idea of having all the track flat, and simulate the grades by clever use of scenery sounds great. If you go for that, you’ll probably need to have the scenery go below the level of the layout table. There are several ways to do that. The layout books deal with them in the “benchwork” sections. Also, I Paul’s remarks on giving yourself enough room for easy access, and aisle space. Sometimes less (layout) is more.
Scott: Glad to see that you are on the ball re the copyright. Good luck with that, I hope it works out for you. That will be one sharp auto.
Have to get to bed, and try to sleep. Things are cooler, but not as cool as last night.

Good Evening Coffee Clubbers
Just a quick one this evening as we're finishing up packing. We're off to what passes down here as the national model railroad and railfan convention. Really not much of a do, probably a lot less than the sorriest of local shows up north. But it's the only game in town here, so we go. This will be our third one. Then a few days of misc touring with Junior and one of the nieces. It's being held in Puebla (about 2 hours east of Mexico City) this year, at the National Railroad Museum. It was supposed to be held in Oaxaca, but the location got changed at the last minute.
We went out to the orange grove briefly this morning, but got rained out before we could get much done. Most of the fruit is now somewhere around baseball or tennis ball size. Obviously the tangerines are a bit smaller.
Sorry most of you are having to deal with the heatwave. But think about dealing with it year round!
Lisa: ...the blue foam doesn't make as big of a mess as the "ball" type but still have bit of mess to clean up before my husand gets home...Your "Shop Vac" - don't shape foam without it!!! Just wait until you start shaping it with a 'Surform' tool, or fine shaping it with sandpaper. Then you'll see some dust!
Lisa: ...the blue foam doesn't make as big of a mess as the "ball" type but still have bit of mess to clean up before my husand gets home...
Anyway, catch up with you guys in about a week or so. Then I'll try to generate some trip reports on both trips.
Hasta luego,
Ed
Mornin all, coffee an ashort stack Zoe,
A chance of thunderstorms later today, suppose to break this heat wave, I hope.
PAUL , I would appricate the photos when you get around to it, no big hurry. I can remember when the stock yard in Marshall was still opperating and they shipped by rail, would guess there was some Mather cars in an out of there. Hope you get some of the hurrican rain.
GRAYFOX, Mother only lets me do it when the grandkids are here and then just a battery train. Other wise I have to leave them in the train room [darn it]
GUILLFORD , tried to check out your videos, could get them to work, I'll try again later.
It's thundering outside now to the south, sure hope we get some out of this cool front comin through, could sure use it. Got Leroy n KC today, so wont get much done round here, no big deal I feel kinda lazy anyway. Bout time fur chores, hope you'll have a good one.
Good morning ! from Indiana.

Morning all, cold front hasn't moved through yet, had some thunderstorms last night but I think that made matters worse.
Inch, I going to try that 50/50 mix tonight, was going to try last night but thunderstorms stop me.
Gryfox, glad I didn't head up to the mountains then, with the gas prices as they are I prob. wouldn't have anyway.
Der, Discovered the joys of foam over the winter(very bad, thought my hubby would send me to shed)
Eg, My shop vac has become my very good friend.
Anyway my pass is coming along I am at the point now that I'm going to need to move back to shed or I'll be stck in dining room perm. Need to run Boys are fighting(again).

Just for that, I'll take it easy on you.

I tried to check your profile to send it to you that way. Email isn't active on the profile though. I may just have to try resending it.
All,
Since I can't seem to figure out how to do multiple quotes in a single post, I'll just wing it so I don't end up posting 20 times in a row.
To all who've been praying for my family and wife in particular, thank you. The form of MD that my family has is quite rare, so medications are largely exparimental in nature. That means there's risks involved. In this case, theres a risk not only from the medication itself, but possible interactions with the other medications she's on. It took a couple of days for the Pharmacy to get the drug she needed as they just don't stock exparimental drugs, but last night she took the first dose. It must be pretty powerful, because she acted like she was drunk or something for the first hour or two, then things settled down. The doctor said that it'll take a week or two before things really settle down and things get to be more normal.
I know that many of you have been praying for her, and I thank you for that once again. Please continue to keep her, and her doctors, in your prayers.
How about some brighter news?

Hey, check out what I found just outside of Fortville, Indiana on my lunch hour yesterday. Around 2pm this train was sitting on the double track main, just waiting.....http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/Prototype%20Train%20Photos/Captured2006-8-200000.jpg
Then, a few minutes later another train came shooting by....http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/Prototype%20Train%20Photos/Captured2006-8-200001.jpg

Good morning, good day, bonjour!
Had dinner at a friends house last night, shrimp scampi, broiled tilapia, broiled flounder, fresh Cole Slaw, mustard greens, and salad was on the menu. We even used some of the fresh grown cherry tomatoes from the garden in the salad. Then we played a few rounds of Mexican Train dominoes!
Scott, yea they do have some great items in their catalog! Dude, I bet the hitch idea would work too, or you could get one of those flashing red caution lights that bicycle shops sell. My only concern would be with the local traffic safety rules, wouldn’t want you to get stopped by the police for improper lights.
Lisa, that is great having a powered up shed! I have a shed that is similar dimensions and it has no utilities at all, I would love to run some permanent electrical run out to it for lighting and power tools.
Paul, thanks for the thoughts! I know you work at a theme park, is it a Six Flags? I heard that Astroworld was shut down, is that true?
Nice catches you got there Inch, both fish and EBay! At this point Ben is just interested in some target archery!

I find the new forum bulkier than the older one, but still taking some time to get used to it. Also, hope all is well with your wife, thoughts and prayers still going out to you all! I see the slab and studs are going up nicely too! And you have some nice lunch time photos there! Thanks for sharing.
Ed, have a great trip!
Au revoir,

Morning folks, just a quick run through as per usual. Well that "cold " front hasn't seemed to have done much ( other than make alot of noise ) a couple wild thunderstorms last night but the humidity seems to have gone up another notch. The temps at least are now in the high 80's as opposed to tthe 90's it looks as though we have more T-storms on the way.
Ryan -I thought that I detected some food service vibes from you. Man you should get back into the chefs gig. I can see a hge chain of ryan owned seafood and oemlette houses in your future. LOL Actually I have a coup,e of friends who did the chef thing for a few years all of them have since keft the kitchen as well.it's not all the fun and fame thing that people get the impression that it is.
Der -Do you want to trade ? I haven't been able to work outside in our yard for almost two weeks, ( the lawn looks like it too ) We had a supercell form over lake huron yesterday it spawned a couple small tornadoes out towards Guelph, not an area one would expect such weather. The one touched down briefly near the crossing of the 401 and hwy 6 ( uncomfortably close to me and the museum ) no damage was done thank goodness, it just scarred a few milk cows. The local dairy is havimng a sale on milk shakes LOL
Well folks it's off to work time for me, catch everyone later.
Rob
Hello fellow RR'ers. I'll have a ice cold tea.
The heat is also hot down here my way. Makes good layout working weather tho'. Which, I don't have one of yet.
PC, nice pics. The house is looking good. Psst, where's the layout room? Must be hidden under the house, lol.
Scott, the paint scheme looks great. Although, I was thinking of an actual loco paint scheme on the side. Hence, when you looked at it, it'd look like a loco. Of course, it'd probably cost alot more.
Hey, I saw something I hadn't seen in awhile....an actual 'moving' train. cool!!! It was a BNSF unit rock train. It had a few ortner type hopper's and what I'd call regular hopper's. They have the same bay configuration.
until later,
LilRob2005 wrote: PC, nice pics. The house is looking good. Psst, where's the layout room? Must be hidden under the house, lol.
Thanks!
I hope it's not under the house, or I'm in trouble! The house is on a slab! Actually, the layout room will be upstairs. I get 10.5' x 15' of room for an N scale double decker with staging. That's a pretty good improvement over the 9' x 9' room I had in this last house.
That's three times in a row I've gotten the second post on the page!
Too close for comfort!
Thanks greyfox! You took the beating for me. I appreciate that!
Afternoon all, Temps have drop here(sightly) but looks like more thunderstorms. Got the strorm last night no damage around here just some branches, lost power for about an hour. Managed to get my foam cut and glued up don't dare start carving inside, Tom(my husband) would prob. ban me form the house(ha,ha).
Grayfox, if you go through Raymond beep real loud( I might hear you, if not it will give the cops something to do).
Silverspike, Dinner sounded great any leftovers(ha,ha).
Hello all. Today's a scorcher...It's hotter than Heck's kitchen out there...Which means I need to wait until almost night fall to do anything outside...
J Der: So far...No luck with the copyright info. However; I was told that if it was for personal usage, I wouldn't need to worry about it. But I still want to be sure.
Ryan: Well, what I would probably have to do, is rig it to the brake lights. Because the light would be red, it would have to be used as a brake light if I'm not mistaken...At least it would clearly look like a FRED in daytime. I could also put some reflective tape on it too...I'd just have to make sure that it does not obscure the license plate.
Lil Rob: I was thinking about a loco on the side of my car...But that would require extensive air brushing to create the right effects; and I just can't spend that kind of money for a paint job.
Well y'all, I'm out. Catch ya later.
Afternoon all, coffee please Cleo,
Had a couple storms come through this morning. The kids n me were outside and had ta come in. Got close to an inch in a couple hour, we sure needed it. Garden looks lot better, but now I got to mow the grass again.
PC, I'm sure the new meds will work, I know when ever they change mine or Mother's it takes a couple work to ajust. Thanks for the photos also, looks like the house is comin along great guns now.
RYAN, a great supper n dominos too, who could ask for more. We play dominos here too, mexican train is one of them. I liked the old forum better also, seemed easier to use.
GRAYFOX, I tried to get her to let me run a self layout along the walls next to the ceiling through the house, but I'm still stuck in my little room.
JERRY, good to have ya back., been thinkin of you n Sally.
Kids are gone, Shila got off early. Mother n me going out to Clarksville this evening n pick sweet corn at her grandma's. Then run into Marshall n get supper and a few things for the weekend, Pats coming an getting the bus Fri. evening to fix a few things and get the new tires on, so we'll be without wheels to go anywhere till late Sat. Need ta get some chores done n cleaned up.
