Jim, I don't believe I've ever truly said. I'm working on a Rix products building, called a mecanical contractors building, that is a blue corrugated building. It's got a loading dock in the rear, and a larger building in the front, both connected. I'm finishing the roof tomorrow, and then I'll show pre-dull coat/weathering shots.

Teffy, Fergie, you mean the whole pink engine talk is real!! And here I thought you all were joking!!

Well, I did make it to Madison and the LHS today, got some oil to lube up my Athearns too. I can’t wait to get them oiled, I’m hoping it’ll help them run better. Well, I better get going, as it’s getting late, and I’m tired from my long day, more tomorrow but for now......

Good Evening All:

We (the club) were at a Merit Badge Fair today with about 250 scouts. We let them run the trains and it was nice to see the excitment in their faces - they were middle and high school students. Boy talk about tired - standing on concrete from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Snoah:
The pink panther is real, Stephanie thinks I should do another one for me, or her, but I don't have that much nerve.

Tim:
If you're thinking about having decals made talk to Fergie and find out who did his. His price was a lot cheaper then the ones that I had made.

Well I'm off to bed

Good evening all (again- had my browser decide it wanted to take a break on me....[|(] And there I was just about to finish up my post (short one, like I usually do, y’know), and - poof! - the browser quit on me. [sigh]

Guys, I’m not completely sure Teffy really went and did the pink thing on poor Fergie’s engine. You know there are some amazing things that can be done with PhotoShop and other programs. For Teffy’s sake, I sure hope it’s not really pink...
I’ll believe it when I see Fergie chasing Teffy down the street, I guess. Though I like Luc’s idea of glow-in-the-dark pink - Fergie could have night operating sessions without having to turn the lights on! [}:)][;)]

Tim, you sound really broken up about being *forced* to stay in and do benchwork. [;)] Oh, and have your parrots at least sent you a postcard while they’ve been gone? Tell them you expect pictures when they return. Aren’t they heading the wrong way for this time of year, anyway?

Luc, good that your wife was able to get out some today. I’m certain she is more than ready for the stones to be over and done with. Will include her in our group’s prayers tomorrow a.m.

[#offtopic] Robert, (Der)John and Duke, you can add me to the Trek list. I liked STNG better than the original, but then liked DS9, and then liked Voyager best (haven’t seen Enterprise yet - only watching our broadcast stations in my area; they charge way too much for a bunch of extra channels I wouldn’t watch). I think I liked the smaller ship size on ST-V, TNG’s Enterprise was so huge. Liked the movie Stargate, not as wild about the series, though.

Okay, back to MRR’ing (Speaking of pink...[swg])

***, it sounds like you had a wonderful time at the show. Me, I would’ve had to only take cash so I didn’t go overboard.[:)] How’s your weather been holding up there, by the way?

Tom, I was thinking about you when our weather tonight was talking about the iced over streets in Atlanta. Good that you weren’t stuck out in it. Of course, the SUV and 4X4 drivers are probably still trying to get themselves out of the ditches...[:-,]

Yeah, Noah, those Rix/Pikestuff buildings are pretty good. For me, the problem is that kind of building doesn’t fit too well with the transition era I’m going to be modeling (circa 1959). There was a nice article in MRR about scratchbuilding a yard building kinda like the Pikestuff/Rix ones. If I can find my copy or a scan, I can send it to you. Just email me and I’ll send it back attached to my reply.

Ed, if it takes a second floor for more MRR room, it’s worth it, right?[:)] I’d say my last trip to a train show was probably at least 5 or more years ago. Happened to find out there was one when I was in the St. Louis area at that time, so I went and looked. But didn’t have the money with me, alas.[sigh] Keep sending those tank cars of OJ up here to the Coffee Shop - I mixed some of the oranges into orange sherbet to go with my coffee tonight - yum!

Teffy, you might want to make sure you sleep with one eye open (and make sure your locks are locked tight) until Fergie calms down about that pink loco.

I had to move pretty quickly this afternoon - I was scanning some articles and realized it was about 15 minutes until the magazines were due back at the library! [oops] Didn’t get to the store and get a roll of paper today. I’m gonna draw up the plans at life size. That way I can just try out different structures on the paper to see which ones will fit better on the layout (with or without modifications).

Zoe, I’ll take a refill on my coffee, but put it in a ‘go’ cup for me, please. And have you asked Elliott when your payday is? If he doesn’t get that paycheck to you soon, we’re going to have to increase our tips a bunch.

Blessings on everyone’s endeavors for the balance of the weekend (and your weather, and your family’s health),

Brian; Sorry to hear about your situation. I know how your father must feel. When ever that sort of thing happens to me I'm bummed out for a couple of days.

The Pink Panther? Dum de dum , dum de dum de dum.

Not much happening today. We took the pecans and sold them. The price is down to $1.10/ lb. Since it's getting to the end of the season for picking that's expected. I really goofed off for most of the day. I did get out and put out hay and did some cleaning up around the place. It's supposed to start raining again tonight and keep it up off and on thru Tuesday.

I looked at that " Forum Correctness " post. I thought "Here we go again". What is it with some people that they have to tell everyone how to do things. Anyway I backed out and will ignor it.

Hello all, finished the benchwork, put the existing plywood layout on and played trains for about 2 hours tonight.

John thanks for the info on the decals, I copyed it to a file that i will follow up on. Way cool, can't wait to surprise her.

Bob, I will check with Fergie if I end up not being able to print myself. I have a hunch, I am going to need many decals, between the two kids.

Wi***hey just would make the cool character trains like O scale does. Then I wouldn't have to "create" them.

Gotta crash guys, it is almost 2:30 my time.

Take care

Lupo, there's a copy of that book on eBay currently (think it's a tad pricey, but then again it's not in print anymore, right?). So if someone wants that one, better go check eBay right now! (I'll keep an eye on your coffee mug while you run over there).

I know it is hard to get because it is out of print, that is why I was very exited to get it from Bill, as he had two copies of it, There seems to be very little info and pictures on the net on this legendary Model Railroad, strange, considering the influence John Allen supposed to have had on contemporary model railroading .
I think Kalmbach would be doing lots of new modellers a favour with a reprint of this beatiful book.

Chasing is far too uncivilized. What's good for the goose...[:-,]

I'm thinking more along the lines of one of those Planes used for forest fires. You know, the ones capable of strategically dumping several thousand gallons of liquid on "fires"
or
as the wife might say... Pink, Mmmm.... I think we should paint the house PINK!!!!!

You see I too can paint a "rosie" picture. Not to worry Bob You'ld be the talk of the town

Good morning folks. Much less cold today, and the snow pack has been falling off the sunny side of the house all morning. It's so different from conditions over this last week that I may get all fired up and try to find the other part of the driveway. If I do, Fergie, there's bound to be some discoloured snow around where Rosie-the -dog's run crosses the drive. Want me to save it for your "water bomber"? [}:)]

BTW, Flip, your email came in......Priceless! thanks.[(-D]
CapeJim:

True Watson, but you doubtless observed that Teffy has told us often that he regularly attends church, and also he has told Noah that "the pink panther is real". Would such an honourable gent. deliberatly mislead the young? Furthermore he has stated from time to time that he lacks all but rudimentary computer skills. PhotoShop may be a mystery to him! So we are to conclude either that Fergie has real cause for concern, or that Teffy has an undisclosed techie to produce these amazing pink images. I just hope he has an effective paint stripper! [;)]

Speaking of paint, while searching for th bottle of Decal-it yesterday I turned up some Poly-S Oily black. So I may be able to grease up the turnouts in the yard after all.[^]

Back again: Fergie, I had two emails that came in at the same time, one from Flip, which was ...Priceless, and yours. I thought I was opening yours, and opened Flip's instead. So my response (BTW Fergie......Priceless[(-D]) was meant for Flip, and I've now edited it that way. Your post was of a serious and thoughtful nature (and I agree with you 100% incidentally) and I don't want you to think I was treating it flipantly .

Good Morning All:

It is a beautiful day here, a little nippy but no rain. If all goes well I should get some more track laid and see about designing my trestle bridge. I've decided it's going to be 8" to 9" long with 3 bents and two retaining bents (one on each end). If the bent construction goes well (and I think it will) I may add another bent in the middle and make the spacing about 1 9/16" instead of 2"+. I think that I'm going to cut the facia board to the conture of the stream bank. I see a delimma as I need to get the trestle in so I can finish wiring the loop but I'm not ready to pour the stream yet as I'm not sure wher all I want it to go. My feeling is that you set the bents, pour the stream and then add the stringers along with the track to the tops of the bents. Anyone have any other suggestions??

John and Luct:
If you will please e-mail me your address, I'll sent the Mass track cleaner to both of you since Fergie will be out to sea when it arrives at his house. John, I can't find the e-mail that had your address in it, that's why I need it again.

Luct:
About how often does you wife pass a stone? I have friends that will pass one or two and then go for several months, one even over a year, and then have to get rid of another one or two or three.

Tim:
Do you have Lynn Westcotts book on building benchwork? It has a lot of good ideas on how to build strong but not heavy benchwoork. Like for a 4' X 8' he uses an "L" guirder running length ways and it's about 11 1/2" to 12" in from the outside. It makes a good support and it's not heavy. He named the book with an origional and funny title "How to Build Model Railroad Benchwork". Figure 3-2 on page 19 is for a table. I've helped two local guys, one made a 4 X 8 and the other built a 5 X 9 1/2. The best thing about this idea is you can make the "table" 52" instead of 48" if you need or want to. This would give you room for just a little bit bigger radius if you wanted it. Since my layout is an around the wall I used the ideas on page 22.

How is the thinking for the decal comming along. The emblem should be a good one, so take your time.

Fergie:
Today I'll get the pink panther running, even if I have to push it around. To put your mind at ease I did find my 2 # maul yesterday. The slogan in the oil field is "If it wont fit, use a bigger sledge." I think the the side rods are where the bind is. All it takes is a little fileing. WISH ME LUCK

Would anyone else like to have trackage rights on the Almost Nothing?

At least IT hasn't hit the floor..........yet. Remember my Mountain?

For those of you that weren't there - John, Fergie and I were at Fergies having a good time running his layout when all of a sudden one of my engines stop sounding and Fergie says "oh my God". Then comes the klunk..thud. We looked around and my BRAND NEW Spectrum mountain was lying on the floor. The cab roof was bent a little but nothing else was hurt. No one has even noticed that the roof is bent so it must not be to bad.

Well I'm off to church

Ya'll have a blessed day and remember IT USED TO BE BLACK

Bob, I will be waiting on the decal for a little bit, have to find the right engine, and have more benchwork.

afternoon all

been out working on the truck... the starter seems to be bad on it... we ran a quick diagnosis on it and it runs when hookin up power with out it being connected... so it's back to the shop tomorrow to have them look at it to see if anything is wrong with it and/or replace it.

after further inspection the starter was fine. and now we are lost.

more info later.

as for my b-day tomorrow.... so who knows whats going to happen... at least we are being gven a Volvo from some friends of ours so that will help us out alot.

thank you all for your concern.

btw... that Pink loco looks nice... well for the color... and under my careful eye I could tell it is not a paintshop paint job... you can tell from the lighting and the clearity (sp) of the glare on it.

Good afternoon everyone,

Lupo: Do you know if the Autoscenes are pre-painted or "raw". One of the aspects of the hobby
I do not care for is painting figures. Although I will do it if left no choice. [banghead][:D]
I checked WS's site, no mention if painted or not.

Brian: Happy early birthday. My birthday is Tuesday, Feb 1st. I celebrated this weekend with a trip
to Biloxi Ms. We had fun, but I lost my train show money at the casino. Well, I shouldn't say "lost",
I know where it is, they just won't give it back.[sigh][:-^]

Fergie: All I can say is at least the Challenger is not pink... Oh sorry, it is pink. My bad.[:D]

I am eagerly awaiting my P2K Southern Railway E6 A/B with DCC sound. Should be here in about a
week. I am also looking at a BLI E7. Just hope Standard Hobby doesn't sell out before I get around to
ordering. Anyone have any experience with these locos?

Good evening everyone.

CFO is sending huge THANK YOU to all for thinking her. Said "I don't understand why these people who don't know us from Adam do take the time to care." I said to her that this hobby is full of very special people who have a passion for trains and are even more passionate about people. To what Gloria has said I want to add big thanks because in some way, this has lifted her spirits a bit.

I experimented on the sugar factory with an acrylic wa***o sort of age the structure and add a bit of mortar to the bricks but I'm not happy with the results. The good news is that I can soak the parts in warm water and the wash will come off. Now I'm going back to study Bob's suggestion in more detail. Hope it does not turn out [pink]PINKpink] or I'll be force to sent it to Fergie. [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]

I saw the CPP posting. I think they are losing on most of the fun. Too bad!!!

Ed - I saw a warning on CNN a few days ago about Americans being kidnapped and ransom for easy entre in the USA or just killed. Please be careful and hope you and your family are always safe.

Robert - Good work, I'll call "Bruno" off. [(-D][(-D]

John - I'll e-mail you in a bit.

*** - Can't wait to see the photos. Sounds like you had a great time. [tup][tup]

Bob - This episode started last summer and seemed to be continous, no breaks. MD is getting data on her uric acid levels and kidney functions, she thinks that a new grug will be able to help her but CFO will need to see a specialist first. We hope very soon.

Well I just finished my supper and will now sit me down for a quiet rest. I was able to dig my way to the BBQ and cooked some really nice steaks. They weren't pink either! they were Blood red[oX)]No sissies here!

Oh BTW Bob? are you there? Bob? Could you please send me a paint chip of that wonderful colour? I figure if I'm going to order in several thousand gallons I'd better make sure we're colour coordinated!!!

If Bob doesn't answer could one of you please contact him and ask him? Thank you

Best regards

Fergie

Hello again all. Just popping in to say Hi.

Luct: Thanks for calling off the assault. Were you really serious.[;)][:D]

Fergie, just make sure you aim properly. I'm about 50 miles North of Teffy. And I know he's your target. Can I have all his stuff? JK[?][:D][;)]

'til later,

Fergie,
Just a short stop for a cup of coffee. I had to get on here and see what all the fuss was involving a pink locomotive. Gads! That is the u-u-u-ugliest locomotive I have ever seen. Fergie, Bob must have completely gone to the other side...or did you order it that way? [(-D]

Oh well! It may look good with a pink caboosy.

Best to All,

Well, It’s Sunday, which means I have to do my weekend homework yet, and I still have to get the roof on my building. I better get going.

Got your email Noah. Best wishes on getting the building finished. What kind of roof are you going to put on it? Tarpaper? Gravel over asphalt? Shingles? Flat? Peaked? Slanting? [:)][tup]
