ive still yet to set up my tree train, got the tree up though. train is one of those cheap ones with batteries in the tender that goes around that plastic track thats super-glued together in about 6000 places. oh well, all in the holiday spirit[;)]

Hey y'all, went to the OKC train show yesterday[:)]. Came back with a P2K E6 with a rock island rocket paint scheme, its got QSI sound and everything. Also a Kato SD40-2 in UP paint with Snoot nose. Been looking for a good Kato for a while now, finally got one for a pretty good price, $80. also got me a train of ore cars to put in my quarry and pull behind a Dash-8. That should look pretty shouldn't it?

cjm: Nice paint, I'd like to paint some myself, just can't get myself to do it.

Good Morning All:

We had to turn the AC on last night as it only got down to 68 F outside and the house was to warm to go to sleep. I know that you guys in the frozen north don't comprehend that warm temp this time of year but we're in a normal year.

I put electricity to the upper part last night and the loco ran so I'm feeling good about the expansion.

We took mom hame yesterday as she was getting very insistant about it. It seems strange not to have the TV on this morning but I'm sure enjoying the peace and quite with my tea. She isn't hard of hearing - everyone else just mumbels so the TV has to be LOUD. Stephanie enjoyed watching her old programs.

About the lift bridges:
I don't ever remember a draw bridge that didn't have a barrier for the train to keep it from going over the edge.

Gordon:
We used to show dogs and were the first importer for Belgian Terverans into Texas. We had dogs up until about seven years ago when the last one died. They were nice, but I like not having all the hair all over the house. We had bassetts also. We did a lot of dog showing and meet some nice and some weird people.

Jim:
If your local club has a train show with a junk table sale you might try that. I've been very lucky with eBay, I sold twenty two pairs of Mantua talgo trucks with the old loop and hook couplers. The guy was glad to get them because he never converted to anything else and had run out of couplers.

Fergie:
I hope that Lisa doesn't mess her back up with you gone, after all now she'll have to prove that a woman can get along without a man. I don't envy you going to sea in the winter as the seas get rougher with cold weather at least they do down here. I looking for some ceiling tile as I want to make a cliff and I don't want to buy a full box. You might know - no one that I know is doing a ceiling right now so I've got to wait.

You haven't said anything about the different colors on the Santa Fe war bonnetts between Genesis and Intermountan. After a while we have other problems and that one just disapeared.

I think I'm going to go play for about 1/2 hour and then get ready for work.

How's ting going all?
Weather just took a turn to the nasty WHITE stuff.... about a inch has fallen w/ about 2 more in the next 2-3 hrs, then it's supposed to change to sleet and freezing rain by quitting time. Nice MESS for driving! hahahahaha no pun intended!

Well I guess we can guess that the cold front runs somewhere between S.E. Texas and Syracuse, what with Teffy turning on the A/C and JP putting on the studded tires.


"Any specials on the lunch menu" you ask? Actually we're having left over turkey!!! Yum, my favorite.

We finally had our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. Frequent readers may recall that circumstances dictated that we make a border run a week ago, and we wound up spending the holiday in Brownsville. Had turkey day dinner at a Luby's cafeteria. The date isn't all that critical, no one else in the family down here understands what it's all about anyway.

Anyway, we finally cooked the goose, er turkey, yesterday. This is one of the few meals in our house that I do most of the main work on. Came out okay even if I do say so, bird done just right, stuffing as best as I could do without Italian sausage, canned cranberry sauce (what can I say).

We even had turnips (or as some of you from the south would say, rutabaga). Took advantage of our border run last week to smuggle a couple of those dudes back across the line. They may be available somewhere in the country, but not here in Tuxpan.

Even the presence of the turkey was compliments of the trip. We picked it up at Sam's passing south through Tampico. Turkeys are usually available here in Tuxpan only at Christmas.

The only hiccup was my failure to make the gravy. By the time I remembered that I needed to be working on it, the tiny kitchen of ours was already overflowing with pots, pans, serving bowls, knives and cutting boards. I poured all the good drippings off into a container and will endeavor to do something to go with the recalentado (warmed up leftovers) that I expect to have for a few days. I'd have let Fran have a go at the gravy, but she tends to go overboard on the chipotle. :-)

Mid-day. Still no word from the shop on the car.

Well Ed, as luck would have it, my last 2 vehicles ( S-10 , Jeep Cherokee) both have had 4-wheel drive. Need it up this way. As for studded tires....not in my houe! Wife even has a 4-wheel drive SUV (Kia Sportage).

As for the turkey on the menu, I'll stick to my Ramien Noodles. I'm all turkeyed out! Speaking of which, I think I even have to throw out some as I think it's expired! (EEEWWWWWW)[xx(]

As for the weather... it's still *()&^%$! Wind is whipping around. Temp is about 23-25 w/ winds of about 10-15...makes windchill feel about 12 above right now. Too early in the winter for a windchill of only 12 above!

Well, CFO stated it's pizza and wings night! WOOHOOOO!

Ed: You asked about any carving progress, and I said that there was some carving started already, and that when the Vivitar came back I'd try for some better resolution of the shots the camcorder was giving.
Well, the Vivitar came home today. (I'm having to pay the Goods and Services Tax as if it were a new purchase, so there is a rebate claim in progress, as well as a "Strongly Worded Comunique" to Vivitar since they filled out the Customs Declaration incorrectly[V]) So, I've taken a couple of pics that show a carved depression, and the re-use of the depression bit turned upside down!


Mind you, there's masses more to do, but a start is a start.

Hello, all. Did anyone miss me. I had a R-A-T problem. It chewed the wires from my computer's modem to the wall plug, and from the modem to the phone into. It even chewed my speaker wires into. We got him a christmas present, POISON.[xx(] For a little while my computer wouldn't work. It's fine, now.

Also, I ask all of you to pray for my dad. He went in the hospital today (Dec. 6). He was complaining of chestpains. Hopefully, he'll get out tomorrow.

Fergie; Fair seas and a following wind. Have a good trip. I tried to reply to you post about the trains under the Christmas tree. It took forever to download and than the page ran off the right side of the screen. Mines LGB 0-4-0t and 4 dump cars. I normally have 2 sidings, but son John swipped the switches for his out door layout that he is building.

Well I've been having Bill Gates problems. Seems that I loaded a security sheld program a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to receive attachments on E-mails since. I've been trying to un-install the security sheld but no go. My computer knowledgeable friend sent me a web sight from Micro-soft but I don't have the patiance to plow through all that muck. I'm about to call Geeks on Call and hang the cost.

RDL; I am so sorry to hear about your dad. He'll be in my prayers tonight. Tell him that we're all thinking about him.

RDL; You have rat problems too? I'm glade that I'm not the only one. Mine are on the layout. I clean it up and they dump all over it again. That is one reason I have so much trouble cleaning track. We didn't have a problem untill we started storing corn for our cattle.

Paul: I wouldn't really call it a rat, more like a small cat. That's the size rat I have here. Several years ago, we had a dirty rat. He would steal just about anything. Pens, pencils, and other loose stuff came up missing. So, we tied a string to a pen. When we got up the next morning, we followed the string to the pen. It was under the couch. We finally got rid of him. I saw the rat once, he probably measured over a foot from nose to tail.[:O][wow]

i got in over my head here Im trying to put a TCS M1 decoder in a spectrum 2 motor 44 tonner. i wired it all up like i thought it should be done, thing is stuffed with wires. but it doesnt run anyone ever done one of these installs?

Well, we paid the piper today in northern Indiana. It was very gloomy all day long--lots of mist and fog and the occasional rain shower. But it was much warmer than usual for this time of year.

Paul, I actually found all my boxes of MR stuff in my storage unit(!). [:)] I'd been *about* to build a layout in the basement a year or so before my divorce started (so never got too much further along on it). I'd boxed up all the important stuff when I moved my stuff out of the house, and had it in the back of my storage unit here. Guess I'd figured I wouldn't be starting back on the layout for a while, and then forgot (almost) it was there. But all the lumber and Homosote I've had leaned against the one side wall reminded me, over time. Glad it did! [:D]

"This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards. What does he think, this is an auto parts store?"

"Oh," says the waitress. The waitress thinks about this and then she spoons up a bowl of beans and gives it to the customer.
