I am not much of a diesel guy but it is still a cool loco. It is now the newest one I have. Runs grate nice and smooth and does a good job pulling to. Have a grate weekend Frank

Here are photos of my Montana Rail Link fleet. I stuck them all together in bad lighting for a photo.
From left to right: 4 -- F45; 3 -- SD45; 3 -- SD45-2; 1 SD40-2; 2 -- SD40; 1 -- SD35; 5 -- GP35.
I just finished one of three MRL GP35s that I have been working on. It's #406 located in the right end of my fleet. The other two you will see are the light color engines # 404 and 405. They just need some pilot detailing.
Here is a photo of the next engines that will be making the transfer to MRL Blue in the near future. I'm considering chopping the noses off of at least one of the SD9s.

My project this past week was to rebuild an Atlas SD24 into an SD26 variant I call the SD27J. It has the distinction of being the only one of it's kind. I started with an ordinary Atlas UP SD24. I stripped the shell and sprayed it lightly with gray primer. I then cut apart the roof mounted air tanks and discarded the two inner ones as they had no sides. I made four more air tanks from 1/8" dowel and drilled holes in each end of them so I could insert the piping for the air system then spaced them out along both sides of the top of the long hood similar to the SD26. I then added the two remaining plastic air tanks between the middle air tanks and the dynamic brake cooler fans. I then cut down a Kadee coupler box to serve as a maintenance box for the valve system between the middle tanks. The winterization hatch was slightly modified to serve as a cover for the air filters. I removed the turbocharger cover from the side of the body and added a blower cover I cut from a Bachann GP50 body. The shell was then disassembled (again) and painted the colors of the Midland Gulf Railway and lighted weathered with a black paint/alcohol wash. A DZ125 decoder was installed and programmed before the shell was reassembled.

Thanks for posting that video, Grampy. I really like the Tsunami steam decoders but have heard only a couple of the diesels. I saw the other day that Athearn was coming out with Tsunami equipped engines soon. I have a little Athearn sw 1500 switcher that I'd like to put one in but not sure if there's enough room for the speaker.

DJ, I can't remember who markets this item, maybe Walthers or Atlas, but it is all RTR as you see it. I have just dirtied it up a bit, but the paint and sideboards are all part of the package. It is a cute l'il feller, ain't it?
Garry, thanks. The diesel is a SW8 from Proto 2000. I am pleased with it, but not before I swapped out the single axle that had traction tires on it. It was nothing less than a nightmare beforehand.

Hi Jarrell: This is an Atlas model with the loose weights. I milled out an oval shape in the rear one and used a TDS mini oval speaker. (.95x.55x.15"). I also milled out room for the cap in the other weight. I sealed the speaker with clear silicone. It's not the loudest, but I like it. DJ.
I've been experimenting with "Silflor" brand grass. The scene is not complete but you get the idea.

I don't have anything nice looking like everyone else, but I finally got around to installing a DCC decoder. Even just a short jump up and down my diorama worked great. As soon as I figure how to stuff all the wires back in, I'll have to get some more. Digitrax DH123AT on a Bachmann system.

Use double sided sticky velcro to attach your decoder to the motor and then use electrical tape to snug the wires in.

The paint job isn't terrible. It would be better if you remasked, and sprayed again. Also, the edge of the grass seems a bit rapid... maybe sprinkling some static grass on the edge of it, so that it appears to thin before hitting the ballasted area.

That is very nice picture.
Good stuff here, as is the norm these days. The videos are fun. Where do you guys get the audio for those? There's more there than what comes from an on-board speaker.
Here's what I've been up to lately - another "project on the cheap." This was all pulled from a scrap box that I acquired a while back. The four walls and basic storefront frame were obviously part of the same kit originally; the rest was cobbled up with scraps and sheet styrene, painted with Wal-Mart cheapo rattle can spray paint, with the main signage and awning drawn on the computer and printed on a cut-up file folder.
If anybody recongnizes this kit and knows who the original manufacturer was, I'd love to know.
