Evening Gang: Last night was a total bust as far as the forums went. Anything that was on the MR or Trains forums did not load. I got time outs every where. I once mentioned this to Bergie and he said that it was with my server. The only thing is that everything else did all right just the MR stuff had problems. Any way I gave up read my E-mails and went to bed.

Welcome Joe. Have a cup of what ever on me. We are a very talkative bunch as you may have guessed. We’ll talk about our day or what we are doing on the model railroading front. The only topics that are avoided are politics and the S word. We have a few young ones here. So what are you modeling? Give us the low down. We are a noisy bunch also.

I’d list the things that I have to get done but since PC has already given Rob a warning I’ll pass. Rob and I are both in the cattle, horses, critters business.

We took six bull calves to the sale barn yesterday. The prices were down so Mary Ann came up some short of what see expected. Of course two days earlier the prices were higher.

Well it’s getting late, at least for me. Today was a 4am wake up.

Good Night All

That catfish platter looks great Jeffrey, but if I ate that right before bedtime.......... Oh and I 3rd. or 4th. that welcome ns3010.

Got a letter today from the Doc. who says the new med is helping and he will "discuss" it with me at my next appointment.  Luckily that is in 5 months.........  Evidentaly my Liver function is fine so the medicine hasn't done anything bad (yet).

Have to be at church tomorrow before 9AM so I think I will turn in early for me.  Have a great evening everyone!

Joe, I used to live in Rockaway.  Does your line run through that area or did you go n/w sooner, or perhaps follow DL&W up rt.206?  There used to be a lot of rail going west, north and here and there.  CNJ, EL, M&E, NYS&W, Hibernia R.R.,etc.  Just curious.  I'm just getting back into things as far as a layout.

By the way, Welcome!  I just started here too.  I had put a question out on another thread, got no answers here I at least had feedback.  Seems some of the others take themselves too seriously.  Afterall MRR is a HOBBY, it's SUPPOSE to be fun and social.

Sorry, I'll just have some o that pie.  The chuck steak I made was delicious! So tender.... To bad I only cook for myself....Never been married either...Have had fun.....but not married

Good Evening All,

Still snowing out but I'm watching it from the comfort of the den. Trip home was ok if a little slippy but at just over 2 miles how bad could it be?

Welcome Joe ns3010. Was in Morristown a little over a year ago getting parts off the locos they were scrapping there. Hard to tell from the pics on your site, but did you get to work any of the hills on your route into the layout?  I model the New Haven through 68 myself, but the layout is in storage as we work through the aftermath of a house fire last May.

I'll just wander to the back booth and work on this RBF and pie - Thanks PC for saving a slice.  J.R.

Back up from the basement to catch the Ariz/Carolina game.

Got the freshly laid track painted, cleaned off and GLEAMED.Didn't get it wired up. I just need to extend the bus wires and connect the feeders. Instead of wiring I ran a bunch of trains. That was WAY more fun!  One gremlin detected in an engine I don't run much so keeping my fingers crossed.I'm an early riser anyway so it'll get done first thing in the AM. Then a quick cleanup and bring on the 1:1 railroaders!

I have to say the GLEAM process really works(for me anyway!). I really haven't run the RR since last June or so. All I did today was a quick wipe of the track with a pilfered makeup wipe of the wife's and it was good to go.I did have to check the Digitrax manual on a coupla things, tho!! A guy should really run the RR every day, IMHO.(Kinda sucks forgetting the address on a loco.Wrote it down this time.)

Welcome to the new guys!

Back to the basement to catch the Arizona vs Carolina game, not much to watch there. I thought it would be closer than that. As long as the Steelers do something tomorrow.

Evening, Flo - I'll have a cup of coffee and a chocolate chip cookie (one of those big ones - those 6 inch diameter ones, yeah that's the one!).Dinner

Packers#1
I kinda committed some hard fouls in the final 30 seconds, so one guy on the other team hit me hard. Now the side of my right thigh hurts and I might have a sprained or broke left wrist. I was sorta asking for it though, so I'm not ticked about it.

Just in case I missed something, Sawyer - football season is over, correct? Black Eye Whistling

Eric, so long as her boyfriend doesn't get upset, you might be safe. But watch yourself... Bummer on (not) getting that track/turnouts. At least, I would've hoped your LHS would have some Atlas #6 turnouts. That's what a lot of the LHSes I've visited tend to do (even when they carry better ones also).

Ryan - good to hear Vinnie didn't leave any bruises. I like your layout plan - saved the image for ideas if I ever get an attic to spare. Yeah!!

Rob, I wouldn't put much past those cats! You heard about Spring trying to pick the padlock on the loco cabinet, right? He just hasn't figured out how to file his nails into the right shape yet Smile,Wink, & Grin Oh, and I'm not worried about your 'expanded' HoneyDo list - since I don't have a CFO to account to for my time. Sort of a trade-off there, I guess. Wink

Lee, with that much snow, I'd say you have a cause for feeling kinda bent out of shape. Wow!! But I'm sure our NOTB Canadian Diners think that's a walk in the park (so to speak) - right, Barry, Johnboy, CN Charlie?Smile,Wink, & Grin Oh, wait - Barry's saying he isn't getting that much snow?Shock  Lee, I hope you get a break in things for at least part of the weekend.

SaronaTerry, hope the gremmies stay away and you and your 1:1 scalers  have a lot of fun!

JR, you're right - that is a bit of variety in what you're handling in your shop. But with all that practice, you probably rarely get rusty on stuff, either. Thumbs Up

Jeff, I'd say Dremel should use you on some of their ads (well, if they want everyone to be expecting over 20 years of use, maybe they won't...). That's great 'mileage' out of one of those. I don't use my Dremel nearly as much as yours, and I think I got it in the late 1970's. But some of the accessories I haven't used at all. I got the variable speed one with the thumbwheel on the side. If anyone wants, I could look it up and post tomorrow, but I'm sure they've changed the model # by now anyway.

Ray, I notice you mentioned 'intonation' and 'major second' after they'd left, eh? But I think I know what you mean. Listened to some high school bands like that, and it wasn't just the flutes doing it, either.Laugh

Luke, hope that new sound decoder gives you a long, sweet-sounding life out of it.

When I walked into the Diner, I thought I was in the Illinois legislature and it was impeachment time again! Wink Turned out it was only Rob getting a Diner reprimand. I guess we could print out his list and mail it to his wife to compliment her on such an industrious hubbie, and ask her how many of those things he actually got finished today...Whistling Nah, that'd be too mean!

Sign - Welcome to the Diner, BamaCSX and NSJoe (NS3010)! And yep, we do sometimes talk about model railroading stuff too. Think of us as your corner virtual diner, with whatever kind of food you can ask our twin virtual servers to fix. What've you guys been up to this weekend? Fill us in, if you like - we're a friendly crowd (just stay clear of the chandalier if there's a party in here - some like to swing from it). I'm freelancing a 'bridge' line in the Four Corners area (AZ/NM/CO mostly), between the AT&SF and the D&RGW, set in the mid-to-late 1950's. And yes, we'd love to see photos, diagrams, vague descriptions of your RR empire dreams or whatever suits your fancy!

Oh, NSJoe - your layout sounds a lot like mine on the scenery (just yours is bigger).Thumbs Up

Rob - I guess Todd reamed you out a bit, didn't he? Hey, the married guys have their necks (and aching backs) to worry about if their CFO's get wind of Rob's list...even if the rest of us know that he isn't really getting all of that done.Smile,Wink, & Grin

Ray, you reminded me - I'm supposed to be a greeter at both services tomorrow (and co-lead the singles study group). Luckily, my buddy Mark is having a chili dinner party tomorrow evening (YUM!!)Dinner

So I'd better finish up and head for home. Prayers for those ailing and in need of comfort, and may you have better weather tomorrow.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Cup of chamomile tea with lemon & honey, please & thanks.

It's raining steadily here so those flood warnings may well prove accurate. Shall know by morning.

Still hope someone can enlighten me on the difference in sound (quality & volume) between an (N) Athearn Bigboy and a (N) Proto Mallet?

Wife has more ideas for her layout and they keep getting crazier. Not even sure if I should share her latest brain storm.

Welcome new folks!

Healing thoughts to those in need.

re the ex. It was just a chance to get out, do something different.  She already borrowed all my power tools renovating her two houses.  One reason I don't have a layout yet.  The BF has accepted the fact that we're close friends.

It's too late, I'm sure everyone has gone.  I hate these late FA calls, this is when people forget that cars don't turn by themselves. This one went sideways 75 ft across an elevated entrance ramp into a bridge wall.  Thank God there is is a catch fence on the wall.  It's a long drop to the NJ Transit tracks. (old NY&LB Pennsy)

I ordered some Micro Engineering switches, expensive but they look nice.  Maybe if I can get my miter saw back I can start building some benckwork!

Time to go, the coffee is cold.  Eric

Good evening........

We just returned home from Nashville. Pleased to say BIL, Nick, is doing quite well recovering from his 1/1/09 stroke. It was due to high blood pressure and clotting as i understand it. Medications have eased most of that. He neds physical therapy now to regain use of the right side of his body. He said to thank those who prayed for him, and it meant a lot to him to know people care.

While in the Music City, I went to the train show. It was a good show, but I did not get much. I got some scenery products.

Welcome to new diners.

Happy Model railroading.

I'll be in the back as well with my coffee as I play catchup with the track stuff Well we are getting SOME of the white stuff---we are getting some wind though---- MORGAN---the last time JABBERWOCKY got stuck in my head was last night in fact---I had to come out with that one!--My wife's choir sang that piece a few weeks ago as a birthday gift to a 101 yr old member of our church! It is a fun piece--- I got an email from a PR person from the mill that we also wanted to get to in Thamesford---hopefully we should be able to do that one justice in the up-coming few weeks---I'll also be getting to do some interior shots of the purina mill which may allow me t get a little closer to those conveyors on the one tower---- Jim:'Spring' was picking at the doors to the cabinet tonight --all I kept hearing was tic-tic-plonk sounds for a couple of minutes---then silence and "MMMM---AAA?" from him

Garry, glad to hear the BIL is doing better.

Jim, I don’t mind snow, but it would be nice to plow and salt.

Terry, I’m putting the locomotive address right on the side of the locomotive.  I bought 2 sheets of microscale numbers and letters that way I know right away who is who.

BIG WELCOME to the people new to the diner and those old friends that stopped in to say hi!

 Good morning.

It's 37 and partly cloudy. The high should be in the mid 50's today and it will be partly cloudy.

Didn't really get much done yesterday. I had a bit of trouble to clean up on another forum that I'm an asst admin on and that kept me tied up for several hours. The cause of the problem has yet to be resolved. I also picked up a new Dremel moto tool yesterday as my old one is on the way out after 25 years of faithful service. Today I'm looking at starting work on some of the interior backgrounds for the Shell station and do some work on a Walther's engine house. There's still the unfinished business of the hedges for the park and I need to start work on the foundation for the Midtown Consolidators building.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA  71446-6114      1/11/2009

Wind Chill:  31°F
Humidity:  74%
Dew Point:  30°F

So Far Today
High:  40°F
Low:  37°F
Rain:  0.00"
Rain Rate:  0.00"/h
Gust:  14mph NNE

Today  High: 55    Partly cloudy. Cooler. Highs in the mid 50s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight  Low: 32    Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s. Northeast winds around 5 mph.

ugh.. morning came too quick.. Zoe, if you will, french toastw/ bacon and a decaf please.  A bit of brightness from the east.  Could have done without yesterday....

Tech (technical for me) question.  How does one upload photos?  I have see 'photobucket' on some posts.  I guess there is no way to make attachments from what I read in the FAQ's

Give Spring time, the critters figure those things out.  My Ceasar knows the doorknob opens the door, he just hasn't figured out how to turn the knob.  He can reach it from the kitchen counter.

mmmmm, coffee is good this morning. Eric

Mornin everyone. Chloe, I'll take a belgian waffle w/ powdered sugar.

I wish I could give more info on my layout to everyone who asked, but I have to go.

I found an Atlas ALP-44 on ebay, and those things are hard to find. I have to ask my mom if I can place a bid, b/c I REALLY want this thing. Unless its somewhere away from here, there are none of these left.

Sorry I can't stay, but I have to go. Maybe I'll drop in later before our hockey game.

Morning Jeff,

With the size of the Shell station, it makes your air conditioner look like a back ground building.

I bet with your skills you could make it really look great.  Here's my thought...............

If you used something like that plastic egg shell ceiling grid for the frame work and a removable foil of some sort behind it, it would look like a modern day high rise and the you could slip the foil up out of the way when you want to use the A/C.

What do you think ???

Have a great Sunday,
