Sitting here at work, 'waiting for parts'. Nice spread Philip, I think I'll have some waffles with those delicious looking strawberrys.  You have whip cream I hope!

I have a few Laserline kits on the shelf.. maybe it's time to open them up while waiting on word on Mom.

Good Morning All…

I’m way behind on posts and emails; my only excuse is I’ve been working on train stuff.  Yes I know it’s a lame excuse.  I decaled my little 0-6-0 switcher only to have the clear coat melt the decals on the left side of the locomotive, I guess the Microscale decals are not as hardy as my homemade or Champ decals.  Now I get to do it all over, I’m mimicking the steam locomotive scheme of the Erie Railroad with yellow numbers/letters on black and the yellow LS&W logo on the tenders.  The Vanderbilt tenders will have the LS&W drum head centered on the flat sides of the tender.  I installed 14 Caboose Hobbies ground throws in the junction adjacent to the creek bed and I started adding pictures and comments on my web site.  I did run a few trains and discovered most of my hopper fleet is underweight.  NMRA standards recommend rolling stock to weigh 4 oz.  My hoppers are 2 oz and tend to derail often.  I ran some test trains and found 3 oz cars run well so my next project is to weigh and adjust rolling stock.  I also have to cut in 5 new #6/#8 turnouts for the #1 main and replace the east approach turnout for the yard on the #3 main.  I want to get all this done before my “Open house” on the 30th.

I hope to post pictures of all my efforts on the 31st.

Thoughts and prayers to those on the sick and injured list.

I will have some pancakes, and oj for now.

I guess I will go to a LHS today, and see what I can find to "weather". I normally get some train shots there as well.  I will have to bundle up, its pretty cold today.

Other than that, not much going on with me.

IT'S A HEATWAVE OUT THERE!!!!!!

Double digits!  And on the right side of the 0 mark!

Mornin' all!

Indianapolis, Indiana
Currently: 10°F Partly Cloudy
Wind: Northwest at 9 MPH
Humidity: 87%
Dewpoint: 7°F
Barometer: 29.92 inches and rising
Wind Chill: -3°F

Yeah, that wind chill puts it back in perspective though.

Lookin' forward to another day at the office and then home to work on my hot tub project.

How about you?  Whats up with you?

New Haven I-5
PC, you're a Seinfield fan!? I am too! Cool

Yeah, I've watched a few (hundred thousand) eposodes here and there.

Eric, awesome job on the house!  I almost want to move in!

der, you make me want to go work on my own layout.  That video was really good!  Showed off the layout and all your hard work well!

Guess since nobody else has set it up (and I'm on TOP), I'll get the breakfast bar going.......

Good morning all.  Zoe some decaf to start.  I'll browze the menu a bit, thanks.

As I promised 2 views of one of my favorite laser wood kits.  This is about as close as I can get with this lens. The interior has a split interior with multiple lights. On the original layout wires came from a power pole to the strain relief with the feed to the meter. Sme details such as the back door and part of the front porch railing were 'misplaced' during storage.

Eric     I guess they need to be resized....Help!

***Der, now that video clip (from your last post) I had no problem accessing. Thanks! You have a lot of track laid there and that is some bridge span. Enjoyed your container handling demo as well. "Good stuff" CoolThumbs Up

It's about 1:30am here, so time for some sleep. Got a lot done this evening, all woodworking but none of it train related. Sigh. That old H-Do list is getting in the way of beginning work on train tables & shelves. Maybe by next weekend.

Healing thoughts to those in need.

 Evening all...

It seems you've put at least seven pages in between my posts... Wow, you people talk alot.

Sawyer: You may not be an idiot, but just because you 5'11'' and 188 doesn't mean your invincible. At 5'7'' and 150 I can take down my friend Victor who is 5'11'' and 217... And he's a noseguard. Looks like we share school colors, my school is green and gold. So is the highschool... Good thing the pack is one of my favorite teams.

Never got to the train show this weekend, oh well. Partied all last night though with a couple friends... (Wasn't wild, only loud music...) Too bad I've got school tommorow... I guess friday is off in the distance, which is nice to look forward too.

Catch y'all later.

CapeJim:, I thought that all you had to do is click on the film looking icon and the thing would play. Doesn't it?  If it doesn't for you, I can post the dirrect url. First time I've heard of having to be a memeber to access the videos, sure doesn't work that way with photos.Confused

Sawyer: The time limit is, in the case of my vid. 4:53...so you were close!  I've made a separate movie of the second part, called (wouldn't you know it) Part 2. The whole thing is from that Arts Society presentation I've yet to make; so the title about Harbour Grace is worded for folks who probably haven't seen model trains do anything except go round a Christmas Tree. I'm therefore begging your indulgence. Big Smile Here's the clip.

Thanks for the kind words about the video Flip, Lee, etc. Today's ending way better than it started, I sorted out a problem similar to yours Tom, and now my VIA train is backing its way into the terminal like it should instead of derailing on the lead track. I'd put on a cosmetic coupler for the end of the observation, and it was fouling the skirt that curves in at the rear of the car. Turning it upside down, and some minor surgery to the casting of the rear steps has solved the difficulty. Yeah!!

Goodnight all. God Bless, and prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel

Tom W. Speaking of Walthers heavyweight cars. ...I just ran my solarium observation for the first time. It derailed. Manufacturer did not allow enough clearance for the rear coupler box to clear a pivoting truck. I have 30 inch minimum curves, and there is no way the car would have handled a 24" curve as stated on the box. I trimmed the box, and it runs fine now.

Happy Model Railorading

Garry:

You, TOO?  I drooled over that Walthers Solarium for my "Royal Gorge" for about a week before I dashed over to Railroad Hobbies and grabbed it.  Same thing.  Loosened the truck, filed down the contact screws, finally realized it was the danged coupler box.  Like you, I trimmed the heck out of it, and like you, I have wide-radius curves (34" minimum).  Runs like a dream now, but at THAT price why did we have to do so much 'adjusting'?  Sigh

End of rant.  Glad yours runs well now.  They are really handsome cars!

Sawyer: Thanks, I missed the typo and have re-posted. I'll see if it's full length or cut like theh first one. Does Photobucket have a time limit on video, does anyone know?

no prob john. I think they limit it to 5 w/ a regular thing, but photobucket pro lets you go to 10. I don't think youtube has a limit though. But then, i don't have the stuff to create a movie for the internet, so I rally don't know.

madsinger: take me with you man, lol. Ya'll have finals in the middle of winter? Wouldn't that be midterms (had mine the week b4 christmas break (I'm in 8th, but taking algebra1, english1, and spanish1).

Ahhh, another busy CSX night tonight, this is train #5 we've had come through here in the past three hours (kinda funny how one night is busy'er n all crap, meanwhile other nights you might only hear two trains the whole night).  The wife fixed chicken and dumplins tonight so I'll just stop in for a slice of chocolate pie, if there is any, and a RBF.  Thanks all

Hey ya'll.

Since I had today off, I managed to do a lot of MR related stuff. I painted the handrails on my Gp30s, fixed part of an atlass caboose, and de-weathered some of my rolling stock to re-weather it (looked awful). However when I de-weathered one of the cars, I took off the road number and cara data on accident. My excuse for now is to say some drunk tried to graffiti the car, but had green paint. (bad, I know)

With all this cold weather I'm hoping it snows. I'd probably be off from work and school if that happens.

Tom & Garry: I agree with ya'll that there isn't anything that's really RTR, never had anything that was good enough out of the box. (too light, needed decoder, paint, and kadees)

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Large slice of Rhubarb Pie with a cup of decaf, please & thanks.

***Der, is there a way to access your video without joining photobucket?

Wife wants a gopher hole layout, or at least one with  a few tunnels and perhaps a couple levels. Just keeps getting easier and easier, eh?MischiefLaugh Picked up these two bridges to incorporate into her grand scheme: Wish I could find some of these "ready built" trestles for N scale.

Finally removed the coffee table that the router was mounted to from the old workshop into the my dungeon. Man, that old router is easily 3 times louder than my table saw or any other tool down there. Spindle is shot and as old as it is, need to replace it soon. Hope I can get the last few sections of trim routed before it seizes up on me.

Saw a few sleet and then snow flakes tonight. 26F tonight with a high tomorrow of 32F. Topped off every trough and bucket on the farm ahead of time.
