Chesapeake and Ohio class T-1 2-10-4

Also, of course Pennsy J-1 and J-1a which were the same design (except for the cab)

Ha Ha! I win again.

I hauled freakinshly long coal trains.

My career lasted more than 20 years.

I spawned off a landmark Berkshire.

I'm a HUGE, coal-burning eastern steamer.

I wear a lovely black paint scheme.

My 69" drivers allowed me to cruise over 50 mph.

What am I?

Yay! I won! I guess I'm up again, Aggro.

I am one of the few steam locomotives better known by a name than my class or number.

I am a semi-streamlined passenger locomotive that operated in the East, and I had 84" drivers.

I was handed over to a subsidiary road for a while, then returned to my home road.

I was built in 1935 and ended my service life pulling 5 car trains between Washington,DC and Cumberland, MD.

I was the only locomotive in my class.

Here's the 9:30 clue:

On other roads, I would be called a "Texas", but on my line I am NOT called that.

I'll give another clue if no one gets it by 9:30 tonight.

4884bigboy: A mid-sized steamer, named after a state, that was operated on a Midwestern road.

Let me give this a try.

I am a mid-sized steamer named after a state.

Some of my class was built by Baldwin, others were built by the road I operated on, but all were rebuilt to my road's specifications by the 1930s.

I was in coal service/manifest freight service until all of my class was retired in 1958.

I was rarely seen east of an Illinois town that was also a hub of my road.

All engines in my class were coal burners, but I also saw oil burners operate on the railroad that rostered me.

You know, The rules for this game should be the winner gets to do the next mystery loco! However, He has to do it within 24 hours or the previous guy gets to pick again.

What think ye?
