Oz: Say hello to your grand dad for me. I was in Viet Nam in 66 to 67. I flew helicopters first out of Bien Hoa then up north. I was with the Rattlers and then the Dolphins.
I got started on the decking for the yellow flat car. It will be lettered for the Chicago North Western. When I get this one finished I’ll have one to go and the two gons. It never ends.
Tom I think that Remi or what ever his name will be may pass up the cabeese as to easy and go for the Yellowstone’s. That is a big cat.
It’s time for bed.
I saw on the news site for the boatnerds that the E.M. Ford is headed for the scrapper. She is the oldest ship on the lakes. She was launched in 1898 has a quadruple expansion engine. Unfortunately no one was able to save her.

With a name like Remi (Remington), Steele jumps to mind. Remington Steele.
The team looks pretty good. And by that, the best time for a fifty today was 29 something for being a bit rusty. I;ve seen them swinm faster than that, and two of the girls were within liccking distance of the records last year. So we'll be fine. We're just estatic so far that the little cornfield school will be able to fill lanes. That's not something we're good at. Beating places like Avon and Plainfield, on their fourth or more High Schools, are a bit off yet.
Packer reminds me of some pertant info. Last weekend, Dad and I removed the bed in the trainroom. I was gonna lay up there and wathc trains, but the bed is lumpty and we can use the wood for something else. And speaking of the "old man" Dad's on finally on the chimo after several sicknesses. As we understand it, the cancer hasn;t changed much. Still out of important things, but it's mucus producing. Good, but weird. We'll see how this goes. He sounded alright on the phone.
Curios Savage was a hit at school last weekend. But we're all glad it;s over. Audience had a blast. And nothing broke.
So nyway, I;'m gonna put the trucks on the two ITM coaches and see about sealing them. Myhtbusters is on at 9 I;ve got an Honor's Society meeting tomorrow, so no late nights for me.
G'night
Well, for once, I got more done on a layout than I intended too. Well, I actually did everything I wanted to too my diorama (painted foam + turf down, now to get some white glue so I can secure it), and I just got Relient K crankin' on my MP3 player, and built a small engine terminal and yard (well, just track, and that's probably how it will stay.

That sounds cool. A "Name Tom's Maine Coon" contest. Let's wait until I find out that I've REALLY got him, though. I just had to fill out an 8-page application process that was kind of eye-opening--this organization is VERY concerned about placing their cats. Which is fine by me, I think I meet all the criterion.
Cute thing--they asked for a 'personal reference' so I gave them the name and phone # of my buddy and mentor Sr. Margie at St. Francis Church. I think a Franciscan Nun should do the trick, don't you, LOL?
Anyway, should hear within the next day or so. And if they decide that Remi and I were meant for each other, they DELIVER! Now how's THAT for service? Actually, I think they want to see the layout--the husband seemed impressed that I was a model railroader-- and meet Spooky, the infamous caboose thief. Who, I notice, is kind of bouncing around and out of her doldrums. Cats can really FEEL a change in the air. Just hope it works out.

Tom .... Should the diner have a name-the-new-cat contest?
Winner can choose between a root beer float or a hot fudge sundae as the prize. (Jim CG will have a lot of entries in the contest, I bet.)
How about "Yellowstone"?

Flashwave ModelTrainLover Hey Guys!! swimming starts next week for HS Just started here yesterday. Course, no ione told me til today, I had to go drop in to find out. I'm sure I remembered 17th. Oh well. That's what I get for being sick I guess. Tom: Seeing as how Reni became Remi in your last post, it would be easy to keep Remi and add -ngton to the end and you have a manlier sounding name and you don;t cornfuzzle the poor guy. We await his arrival. I like "Remi". What happened to your backyard snooper?

Morgan: Didn't realize I'd misspelled his name in my first post. Hey, "Remington" sounds kind of cool. I could always call him "Fred" (Frederick Remington, the wild-west painter). Right now, I'm really leaning toward "Harley" as in "Harley-Davidson" because this guy is sturdy, a little loud and very fast on his feet, LOL!
As to 'back-yard' kitty, Gizmo moved lock, stock, barrel and food dish into the garage with the first rain. Has absolutely NO interest in moving into the house. And wonder of wonders, she completely IGNORES the train. She currently sleeps under the railroad on one of the lawn-furniture mats I moved in for the winter plus her kitty-blanket. Very happy cat, thank you. Though every time I'm out their working and I turn on the sound-system, Gizmo utters a "WHAAAAAAAA---" and streaks out of the garage. She's goosey but cute.
Happy swimming team, BTW! We don't start just yet at Jesuit. Outdoor pool, you know. Have to wait until the weather doesn't freeze the Speedo's. (You REALLY needed to hear that, right?) Actually, we spend the winter with Water Polo, then get into the diving and racing around March. We have a KILLER swimming team--they take no prisoners. It's sort of like watching 27 Michael Phelps' charging around in there.
Sheesh! I had my post partway done, and for no good reason, the page reloads on me (losing everything I'd typed in the meantime)!!
Think I'll have a bowl of chili and a root beer float and go sit in the corner a bit to sulk.

Well my Conrail hopper came. Its a Athearn 2-bay and I finally get to redo a hopper I sold months ago. I really liked it alot. Weathered and all. I told myself I will do another one, and now I can.
That was her ^^^^^^^. Now, I have a engine to do and a hopper. Boy what a job will do. Finallyhave some money to buy stuff.
Now the sad thing is at work all day I have been singing Elvira by The Oak Ridge Boys. Why, I DONT KNOW!!! Maybe the long days at work.
Well gotta run to the basement.
Have a good night guys and gals!!!
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Hi guys and gals. Whew, I hjust got done w/ my running and sprints, and I'm still gonna lift wieghts today, lol.
Duke,
The wife wanted a wing, but a good one was more change then I wanted to spend. I like yours though!
Afternoon everyone. Here's the latest on the Great Cat Hunt--went up to Cameron Park this afternoon and met with Remi's caretakers. Nice couple. GREAT cat! Brown Tabby Maine Coon with a white vest and paws, really laid back and friendly, HUGE green eyes and ENORMOUS feet. About 2 years old, probably between 16-18 pounds, give or take, so he's far from full grown and some parts of him need to catch up, LOL! I told them it's a go. Now all I have to do is fill out an application for the organization, pay the fee and they'll deliver him. So I should have a buddy for Spooky by the weekend, I hope. He and I got along from the get-go, so we'll see how it goes from here.
I really admire the organization, they check VERY carefully to make sure their placed cats have good environments. So if I can get him, Spooky will probably train him very quick on how to steal cabeese.
Ah, it'll be like the Old Days again, LOL!
Best to all, prayers to those in need.
Duke ............ I am very impressed with the photos...........
But DUKE.....You said..".... as you know there is nothing better than being on two wheels, except maybe flying."...............................Now, now, now ............. The fact of the matter is there is nothig better than steel wheels on steel rails! .......That's how things are!
Happy Model Railroading, everybody!

This is the one riding buddy that goes with me all the time.

I looked at one of those to zip me back and forth to work. They're pretty cool! Black, huh? That'll be sinister looking!
I've finished the wiring that joins the pickups of the two SDP40F's together. In the photo below you can just see the red and black wires passing from one loco to the other like MU cables. The white wire is tied around the two X2F couplers. This way they can't separate but are free to move.
Morning all.
Last night I went to the MR club and ran a bit. I tested my SW15s (one is powered, the other is a dummy with a sound decoder) to see how much more they could pull after I added a bunch of weight to it. Before I added weight I could only pull about 6 cars up the helix. After I added weight I got up to 22 cars up the helix. Needless to say, I exceded my goal of 12 cars pretty good. I had left my U28Bs at a friends so he could speedmatch them with decoderpro. When I got to the club they were there waiting for me, and now they run really well together.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Good morning
Good morning all,
Chilly this morning but we will get to the mid 50’s today.
Sue, sorry got my posts crossed.
Those little pickle cars and the wood tank cars remained in service until 1972 believe it or not.
Morgan, nice job on those passenger cars I just unpacked a set of NYC silver side passenger cars to re-letter for the L.S. &W.
I sold 17 pieces of rolling stock, 42 plastic autos, and some assorted stuff online last night to a local guy. Tonight I plan on dropping everything off.

twhite Snip But if 'Reni' comes into the household, the FIRST thing he gets is a name-change. So I'll be heading up to Cameron Park tomorrow to take a look at him. If he's as handsome in person as he is in the photo, he's MINE! Or I'm his, one or the other. Either way, I think Spooky will come out of her doldrums. Best to all, prayers to those in need. Tom

Good Morning from Tipton IN !
Bill Tidler Jr.
Near a cornfield in Indiana...
G'day all.
Yesterday was remembrance day in Oz, we stopped at 11am (11am on the 11th day of the 11th month) for a minutes silence. My grand father is a returned Vietnam vet so it means alot to me.
If you go to my photobucket site (www.photobucket.com/ozjim) there is a few pictures from our recent RAAF Amberley airshow which featured a couple of US visitors, (A C17 and two F-15's) A B52 was supposed to be in the line up but pulled out and was replaced by the C-17.
Our house settles on the 4th Dec, but since we know the owner(shhh!) we have the keys already. I'm going around there on saturday morning to measure up the downstairs area, (my bedroom) and work out where we are going to put the new wall to divide the room into a 2/3rds 1/3rd space, the two thirds being my room, and also the layout room.
I'm now leaning towards a shelf layout with penisulas at each end to "turn back" the trains, or if the space permits, I will go with under layout staging yards, But I have no idea what to model. I have a bit of UP and BNSF modern gear, so ideally would like to keep it. Somewhere in Calif. or Midwest where both roads run, would be ideal. Idea's? locations? I'm pretty open to ideas right now. I'd like to have 4-6 industries to keep a local train busy, with all the run through freights as well, Intermodal,Grain etc etc. I think even protolancing would work, say basing it on a fictional area somewhere in The States. I will have to do my research.
Still can't figure out why this site doesn't work at home?! I have both IE7 and FF3 and neither load the forum pages....Hmmm.
P.S : PC lovely ride, Thinking about getting a motorcycle licence myself and a nice bike.
Sue: Ninja 250 nothing wrong with those!
I think i'd go a nice Moto Guzzi or something similiar. Or a nice Harley... *drools*
Cheers,
Oz!
