Sawyer; sometimes a foul works in one's favour, other times, not so--the age/size difference doesn't help but at least it wasn't a total rout.

Well I am going to get to work on my mill...or whatever...Whistling---if 'Spring' will let me...

Evenin everybody, Cup of Hot chocolate and some molasses cookies please. Turns out it’s a Golden Corral instead of a Western Sizzlin’ but it didn’t matter because it was packed and didn’t eat there anyway. I fail to see the reasoning to drive clear across the city , right past a Super Wally-mart on our side of town, to go to another Super Wally-mart. Reason? Because it’s new. Silly me. Confused Luckily I survived the holiday crowd. Guess I do it for the same reason Rob gives up train space.Whistling

Sawyer- sorry you lost sounds like the game might have gotten a little rough at times. Why the age difference?

Morgan- great pictures.

Jeff- You’re lucky, I consider MY daughters live-in boy friend one OF the animals.Grumpy

Well gonna go down to the train room, look at it and see what I want to do tomorrow, then go to bed.

Rob- I sure hope you get some sleep soon. I went through a small bought of sleeplessness (1or2 hours night for about a week). Nothing like what you’ve had but I kinda got a bit of an idea of what you’re going through.

Evening Gang: I'm just going to run through and grab a cup of coffee. We just got back from Clark Gardens Christmas party. They really did a bang up job of decorating the gardens. Lights were every where. Really nice.

I'm so far benind that I will never get caught up. I think that I'll just head for bed.

Hello ....

I too had trouble opening threads here earlier.

Fergie ....... One of those dogs is huge. How much is your dog food bill?

Rob ... I hope you can rest OK over the weekend.

Lee ....... My old layout actually was freelance. The 4-6-0 was to have been painted for my fictional railroad. I'd like to know how your brick streets turn out.

Tex Terry .... I hope your roof is now in place.

Cheers everyone.

Jeff; ...at one time my parents may just as well have opened a zoo. We had 2 dogs, 4 cats, 3 guinea pigs, a hampster, a pet squirrel , 3 budgies and cockatoo. We also somehow ended up with chickens(started out with 8 chicks--ended up with chicken dinners), a family of orphaned racoons--hand feeding is so much fun, some baby birds that my mother would have dropped on her lap--even by a vet yet and an endless array of fresh/salt water fish. That may explain my habit of going--only two, only two, only...Whistling

Robby P.
Well didn't do much today.  We ended up going and getting a new family member.   A hamster.  So now our zoo is up to 6 animals.  3 cats, 2 dogs, and a hamster.   I AM DONE!!!!  No more.

Don't feel bad. My sister has 5 dogs, 6 cats and 8 ferrets. Last time I checked that comes up to 19 animals, plus her kids and the daughters live-in boy friend.

Tomorrow the wife and I will try to get some kind of backdrop on the end of my layout.  I hate that the wall is exposed.  We will work on that before the Steeler game.  I still have to plaster the new parts, and paint.  This is the kind of hobby that never ends.

Well everybody have a goodnight.

No no, the first one I did on Wednesday? Is still there, with all the pics. But I replied lst night with replies up to page 114, with a response on what the Xmas trains were. That's the one that I guess got X'd out or timed out,

Edit: past pages again.

Sawyer: Nope. the (3) swimming Seniors we have are't that bad. It;s the others.

Whew, missed the top.

Hmm. It  ate my post overnight. So we try again.

Since last week, I missed 2 Birthdays, Tom tried to kill someone, and kitties wanted a new bedspread. (I've been waiting for somebody's fluffy to be "spring" out of a tree cartoon style) Family health is inmproving, so that's good. And Sawyer is teaching a min class. Phht! I get mocked for even having a Bluebox with me to kill time with. Hi new guys!

On Christmas trains. Most of them came from Ebay, some bought, None have been made by me. Though that should change.

these are cars of unknown making that came from a club no longer running the trains. They are pulled by the F unit, which has a battery powered blinky on top and is DC. You see the sleigh runner, and the deer dorm. There;s a matching Bobber caboose with deer in the copuola. Also, Santa is "waving" in the Observation. The Obs car has a battery tail light.

are all Con Cor cars from a club that painted the rooves black. It was dubb the Christmas Shopper's Special and is pulled by a specially painted Dasher 9 (jokes on them, it;s actualy a SD90 by the box) painted for UP. I'm debating adding a Baggage car for the christmas gifts. We see. Also DC.

are all striaght COn COr cars released in the 90s as a CHristmas collector Set. We have booku duplicates to renumber and interior. I'm calling it a Christmas Cruise to the various holiday fests in Snowy North America. I painted up P-42s in digital to actually make to pull it. Then realized they were copyrighted schemes.

And there's been another endition of the layout. I hinted to it earlier, but here's a looking down on t. each color is it's own level, the orange being floor. There's sorta 4 levels at less than stellar heights, but for us, is probably good. This is just the trackless colored version, the black/white with track is cornfuzzling. I broke it down, but that's 3 more pictures. I'm settling on a floating scene as a hybrid o f North Vernon IN and the Rocky area in Pelle's book. (title escapes me) so I can run whatever with whatever. And I like my Freelance/

Picked up stuff to mount trucks on the LSW hoppers. Still haven't done that Blush

Bonus Gift pic I just found:

***Lee, "HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY"

Terry, hope the roofers do a A1 job for you.

OMG...HELP HELP...what do I do? Wife handed me a Walthers catolog with items she marked in yellow that she wants for her layout. Good Lord, what a list. Does anyone know where to get HO scale Chicken Houses? How about Parking Meters? Think I need to switch to Z scale.Shock And I need to correct what I said earlier, turns out wife has ALWAYS liked trains, just never had a place to set one up before.

Put up a medicine cabinet in the new master bathroom today. Discovered water got into the storage area under my painting porch. Smells mildewy, so put both dehumidifiers in there. I suspect with all that rain, it somehow came up from below, right through the sand covered plastic sheeting. Going to have to look at pooring concrete under there sooner or later. Ouch!

Healing thoughts to those in need.

Fergi; I don’t have anything to let down anymore, LOL

Jeff; glad you liked them, a few more than you asked for but I couldn’t see wasting a sheet.

I’m getting ready to paint the town red tonight;

ok well maybe just the streets.  I finished installing the bricks from the 4 Walther’s brick street systems kits I bought.  Now I need to drill some holes for the manhole covers and mix a little paint.  Hopefully tomorrow I can install the sidewalks and put the buildings back.

Well, we had a basketball game today. Before I tell you thew final, I'll tell you that our team is all 8th graders and the team we faced is pretty much all 10th graders.

We lost, 37-14

I got 4 fouls, one guy fouled out. I hit the court about 3-4 times in the first period. My knees still hurt from that, lol. Most of my fouls were pretty hard, so don't think I didn't fight back a little, lol.

in a SOUTHERN mug, please & thanks.

Wife's interest in trains grew over time as we have been together. Initially (IMHO) it was more to keep me happy with all that was going on with her relatives. However, at this point she is really getting into the whole concept, "Her concept" of model railroad. Yea, she is exhibiting the God complex now.Laugh

I'm still wound up. Cronitc fatigue compounded by poor sleep just isn't good for ones mental or physical health. I really look forward to having the build done and everyone out of here. I'm worn out. Still, sure beats the alternative. (pitty party over)

Have a great day, all. Cowboy Rob

Mornin’ everybody, Boy is it windy out. Just coffee please. Thanks. Apparently the wife wants me to go shopping with her today. Grumpy That should be an adventure. I don’t shop. I get and grab.

Well this week all I got done was lay one half of a 3 ft section of road bed. Don’t know why I’m not done yet at this lightning pace. I guess I’m gonna get brave and try to post a picture. Someone (memory what memory) posted plain old step by step instructions and I think I can I think I can. I’m feelin’ brave and pretty sure you guys (non-gender specific) will be kind. All suggestions for improvement will be welcome and taken well.Smile,Wink, & Grin It often takes another set of eyes to see what I can‘t. Uh-oh, baby dog just showed up looking guilty.

Yup two ornaments on the floor. Labrador tails are always moving. Should tie a dust rag to that thing and put her to work.

Happy late birthday Lee.Wink

I’m glad my wife just supports my MRR and doesn’t want one or I’m a feared I’d be in worse shape than Rob

Speaking of the wife she’s starting to pace around, we all know what that means. Oh well, we’ll be in the neighbor hood of the new Western Sizzlin’ in Springfield. Maybe………Dinner

Good Morning, Flo - I'll have a couple of waffles, some bacon and some maple syrup, please. Oh yes, glass of Ed's OJ, glass of milk (2 percent) and a cup of coffee, too, please. Thanks!

First - Lee, a belated (and embarassed) Happy B-Day and I hope it was a fun one for ya. Oops My thanks for that info on the drivers (and the light vs. heavy distinction). That will help me, as I was looking at getting a Mikado this year, and now know that (since my RR's area has some mountains) I probably need to get a USRA Heavy Mike. Meant to ask you, do your cats like that tingly feeling when you startup the power pack when they are snoozing on the track?Evil Give them a hot foot?

Shock Robby! Ohmigosh! Don't eat that cat! Wink  (sorry, couldn't resist...Oops) That is one big tabbie, though.

Ryan, maybe you'd better ease off on the food portions for a bit, or poor Todd will be packing it on like the rest of us Diners. Smile,Wink, & Grin That Po'Boy does look good, though.

Jeff, I like the effect with your mirror! I'd agree on it looking like a snowglobe, all right. Thumbs Up Congrats on your new cars, too. From your description and the photos I saw on the news, I bet they were showing somewhere close to Amite. 8 inches of the stuff? Wow!!

BC, a 'beat the crossing gate' kind of pic, huh?LaughBlack Eye

Tom, do your weatherguessers out there only like predictable, sunny California weather (unlike REAL weather that the rest of the country gets)?? Mild, huh?  Send them over here (or better yet, send them up CN Charlie's way), and we'll give 'em an appreciation for 'mild' weather... How old is that #3 and #4 section of your layout, by the way? Is it in the ancient, built-it-10-years-ago class, or how new? Unless your feline friends have been playing with the wiring while you were asleep or gone to the store.... But hopefully, that's not it. Yeah, from what you said, I wouldn't give Remington catnip anymore (like - never again!). Wink

Goodness, Rob, your wife is sure getting into trains and her layout! Had she been interested in trains for very long before you were talking about a layout yourself (like when you were dating, even)? You may need to build your benchwork quickly to stake your part of the train room, or she may commandeer the whole thing... Wink

Cederstrand
Hope everyone is doing well this evening and all the kitties are behaving themselves.

Yeah!!, right, sure they are!

Uh, CN Charlie - we feel your pain about the weather, but please, puhleeeze do NOT share that with us NOTB types here. Smile,Wink, & Grin That is a bit worse than what Tom's weather folks would call 'mild'....Sheesh, indeed! Bet lots of people your way (CN Charlie's) will be firing up their snowblowers if they need to get out. Or does everything kind of shut down when it's that bad there?

Fergie, that's a couple of comfy dogs, eh? On your loco smoke, was it in sync with the chuffing sound? Smile,Wink, & Grin And when will we be seeing photos of this famed arch that you're building?

Terry, hope the roofers get going and don't overcharge (or underwork) for it. Your weather sounds much better now. I expect (if he can get out and drive around) that CN Charlie will be down to visit with you soon. ShockWink

Ray, best wishes on your 'gig' tomorrow. Sounds like you had a good lunch with your sister.

Well, my laundry's done now (they have WiFi there), so I'll be heading out to put it away and then I'll be swinging by H-L to see what I can use my 40 percent off coupon on. Last night I used a coupon and my Barnes & Noble member card to get the MR issue for about $4.55. Also picked up my daughter's requested gift (card) there. Need to pick up son-in-law's iTunes card yet, but I think they have those in the K-Mart store here.

Prayers for a warm and dry place to be, and for healing for those on our 'ill' list.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

 Mornin' everyone!

Lotsa dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug Flo!  Thanks!  Oh and an English Muffin with some grape jelly would be nice.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey Fergie!  Good to see you.  How's the MESS coming along?

Happy late birthday Lee!  At least you don't need to hear that song we sang for Tom......Whistling

I got the tree transported and set up in its base for my sister.  She was pretty good this year about staying on task while I held the tree in place.  We then went out to eat thinking with the snowy weather places would be empty.  Went to a nice local restaurant  that we both like and there wasn't a parking spot within a mile of the place and the waiting line was out the door.......  So we went to her favorite place in town, a little Mexican restaurant.  She is friends with the owner who is also an artist.  Managed to get a booth in what was an already packed place.  I have never been big on Mexican food but the owner came up with something without tomatoes in it (One of the things I don't like), a fajita made with chicken that was a 10!  Absolutely wonderful!!! Dinner My sister just had an Art Show at his Restaurant a few weeks ago and he goes out of his way to make sure anyone she brings in to the place leaves a happy customer.  His business is growing in the midst of the economic downturn.

I have to load all my sound equipment into the trailer today so I can do a concert at the Smith Opera House downtown tomorrow.  I will be using the house system for the most part but have to bring in the monitor system and my own board, mics, wires, and stuff like that.  I used to love packing up for these things but as I get older it becomes more w**k........

Gotta finish my coffee and get to doing stuff.  See you later!

My suspision is that there's a short in the armature wiring, causing them to draw a lot more power. In fact, I'm sure of it, as they would get hot while running.

Jeff, looks like you have some nice new autos for your layout and I suspect if the Mini Cooper driver doesn’t change his plates the locals will be pulling him over every day, darn out of state tourists!

Yeah, we get a lot of tourists here. We call ours 'military personnel'.

Good morning.

It's 42 and clearin the Sportsman's Paradise. The high will be in the mid 60's and it will be partly cloudy.

Yesterday I finally got my SPSF Kodachrome GP38-2 running well after going through two bum motors. They work but any locomotive they're put in will make a snail look like it's turbo-charged. For now it has a Bachmann 1 amp decoder but will get upgraded to a Digitrax DZ125 as soon as I can get my hands on one. Cash is pretty tight right now and train stuff is just not in the budget. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I check my snail mail and find a small box containing not one, but two 1:87 vehicles. A Hot Wheels VW Bug and a Reel-Rides Mini Cooper. There was no return address on the package though the post-mark indicates it came from Detroit Michigan. Whoever sent it, you know who you are, you have my thanks. You made my day.

Good morning,

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 36. South wind between 14 and 17 mph.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Breezy, with a south wind between 17 and 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%

Terry, sounds like you have a great forecast for a new roof.

Garry, if you’re still interested in modeling the LS&MS it lasted a long time after 1914 with a small NYC logo on the cars and caboose.  I don’t think NYC re-painted their rolling stock until after WWII. My LHS has a few items in HO-Scale on the shelf.

Thoughts and prayers to those on our sick and injured lists.
