Thanks!
Grey and drizzly here in Cape G. today - it's 42F now, with a high s'posed to be around 50 or so this afternoon, and rain off and on through the day. Good day for a cup of hot beverage and a seat in a bay window (if you have one). But at least it isn't sleet or snow, huh?
LSWrrSue, how do you take a bath if you keep all your models in the tub????
Lee, that was me instead of Sue that you read about the tubs - but my tubs were smaller ones (might be able to wash your newborn in one of 'em, but not your dog or anything bigger) - about 26 quarts in size. I'd guess they're about 2+ feet by 3+ feet and about 9 inches tall. Stackable, and I can more easily see what's inside 'em without having to drag them off the shelves and open up (unlike a cardboard box). Next, I need to find some labels that will stick on them, but that I can easily write on the labels with a Sharpie. I couldn't find a photo of the ones I got, but they look sorta like this:
but with a clear (and flatter) top, so it's easy to stack them. Hey, good to hear your snow's not sticking (for now).
Sue, I'm with PC - when will your new toy arrive (and when will we see pics)?
Jeff's just keeping his immune system ready to fight, PC.
Hey, PC, what's up for you today? Haven't heard as much out of you lately (guess you're w**king longer hours to afford all those new toys, huh?
I'll be in the window booth, taking care of my breakfast... [edit] And looky here, who's got your breakfast tab, Diners? Okay, Zoe, better tell the cook to get ready - they'll all be in shortly.
Blessings on your day,
Jim in Cape Girardeau

Work and school are insane, so I've been pretty busy. The new toys are great and all, but honestly, I'm getting burnt out on the work and school thing. I'm just praying it'll ease up soon. I've missed hanging out!

PC, I'd [ditto] Jeff's remarks - good to see you poking your nose in here again. Will put some easing up on the w**kload (at w**k or at school) for you, on my list, too.
Now, time to chow down on that Po'boy. Oh, Zoe, please bring me a RBF to wash this down with. Thanks!

Ok heres my newest family member. His name is NS and he goes by C44-9W. Its a Athearn. Got it from the LHS. Kinda help out the small guys. It has a quick plug, so I will look into that soon.
This engine is a beast. Just gave it a test run, and watch out!!! Power out the wa-zoooooo. Thats on dirty track. Pulled 6 cars with no problem. Now I have to dull it down some. No need to worry, its not going to be a rust bucket. More just some rail dirt/dust and get rid of the shine.
I have to order some extra parts. GPS dome, MU hose (3 cluster), Snow plow, Ditch lights (platform & Lenses), and see what else.
Its a 2 week early b-day gift, but I can't beat it.
Now if you can excuse me, I have to order some parts.
Have a good one!!!
"Rust, whats not to love?"
A poboy sounds good to me also. i'm glad Jeff thought of that.
Der John....Good news about Rosie!
Here's a photo I took from here last week. The white pelicans are migrating south and stopped here.
I'm now laying track on the lower level of my layout extension. I have been building my layout in sections. I do not like looking at just boards and track, and so I build small sections and do the scenery before I move on.

A Good Remembrance Day to you all. On our way in to the Harbour, there was an eagle soaring over the Passage Road. When we got there, there was a goodly crowd for the size of or community (200-300 out of a possible 1300). Traffic was stopped for the first part, until after the silence etc. The they were let through, and during the whole event, right through the readings, prayers, hymns there were no less that 4 empty logging trucks went past. The cenotaph is right on the highway, so everything was drowned out. Vital work that, deadheading logging trucks! Letters to t he papers will follow! They can stop traffic in the summer for the Sea Side Festival Parade for an hour or more, but not on Remembrance Day. Never mind, there was another eagle soaring over the ceremony which was very cool.
Jeff, if you haven’t already today, check your email.

(all of these cars sans the two missing their chassis were bought as is silver unlettered)
there's more if you click me
I still need to seal them up. I'm "missing" car 2, it needs to be repainted over. Nothing against Burlington, but the ITM coaches were Santa Fe anyway.

Philip,
A 250 Ninja. Kawasaki changed the body style in 2008 and you don't find one in the show room. I am in line for the second black one. It is a scaled down model of the big bad boy. They said I might have it before Christmas.
Good Evening Diners,
Der, Good news about Rosie.
PC, They say good things come in three's so I wonder what it will be for an encore after a guitar and motorcycle. I think, no I know, that my wife would tell me, get a bike and take a hike. You are one lucky fellow.
Jeff, hope that foot heals up soon.
Didn't do much here today, as it was a holiday for Remembrance Day. I did watch my DVD on Halifaxs though. I also started to do some work on the scenery which I haven't touched for about 6 months. I have a fence to put up between Mrs.Jones house and the engine house. I'm painting it CN brown/red and I know Mrs. Jones will appreciate my efforts. Then it will be on to ballasting the yard tracks and putting the engine house permanently in place. Glad I did a trial fit though as I found out that the doors wouldn't close so I'll have to increase the height of the base slightly.
Well it's time to get ready for work again tomorrow.
CN Charlie
I will have a hot cider, please.
der, Thanks for sharing your trestle and mountain photos. It is hard to believe that you are doing N scale. The details in HO are plenty small.
PS. Looks like I am at the top of the page so choose your beverage because I am buying.
cheers I,ll have a tea with you Gear-Jammer

Evening Gang: I finished the Northern Pacific flat car. It's out in the shed now just needs the built date and trucks. I'd like to get the flats all finished and have trucks on them for the run day Saturday. I don't know if I'll make it though.
It rained 4 1/8 inches here yesterday and last night. We had some real loud thunder and it sounded good. The pond is up about 2 feet.
I'm going to cut this short and head for bed.
Good Night All
Well, just a quick pop-in to see how everyone's doing. And let you know about the Great Kitten Hunt. Went down to the SPCA Monday to see the 'Wegie'--it was closed, and closed today, also. Then I got on the SPCA website and found pictures of the animals and lo and behold, over the 'Wegie' kitten were the words ADOPTED. I waited too long. He was a cute little thing, too.
But while I was on the website, there was also a listing for Sacramento Pet Pals, so I logged in--this is a group that rescues cats and gives them temporary Foster Homes until they can find a real one. First up--a brown tabby Maine Coon male 2-year old 'adult' (sorry, Maine Coons aren't adult until they're 5) named 'Reni'. Who would name a Maine Coon male 'RENI' for cryin' out loud? You name Maine Coons REAL names like Lowell or Spooky or Harley or Chuck or good old 'down home' names--these are good old 'down home' cats, LOL! Anyway, this guy looks really great, so I contacted the organization and they put me in touch with the gal that's 'fostering' him. She lives right up the highway in Cameron Park, and I'm supposed to go up and take a look at him tomorrow. Evidently he's had a kind of tough life, his owner gave him away when she moved to Hawaii, and he wasn't treated exactly kindly by the new owners. He's supposed to be typical Maine Coon--laid back and friendly, but in need of a good home. One plus--he gets along with other cats. And Spooky has become so lonely that she sticks to me like glue. That gal NEEDS a buddy. Desperately! So we'll see. Neat thing about Maine Coon males--they always act as if they've got a slingshot in their back pocket, LOL! Mischievous little(?) critters.
But if 'Reni' comes into the household, the FIRST thing he gets is a name-change.
So I'll be heading up to Cameron Park tomorrow to take a look at him. If he's as handsome in person as he is in the photo, he's MINE! Or I'm his, one or the other. Either way, I think Spooky will come out of her doldrums.
Best to all, prayers to those in need.
Tom

G'day all.
Yesterday was remembrance day in Oz, we stopped at 11am (11am on the 11th day of the 11th month) for a minutes silence. My grand father is a returned Vietnam vet so it means alot to me.
If you go to my photobucket site (www.photobucket.com/ozjim) there is a few pictures from our recent RAAF Amberley airshow which featured a couple of US visitors, (A C17 and two F-15's) A B52 was supposed to be in the line up but pulled out and was replaced by the C-17.
Our house settles on the 4th Dec, but since we know the owner(shhh!) we have the keys already. I'm going around there on saturday morning to measure up the downstairs area, (my bedroom) and work out where we are going to put the new wall to divide the room into a 2/3rds 1/3rd space, the two thirds being my room, and also the layout room.
I'm now leaning towards a shelf layout with penisulas at each end to "turn back" the trains, or if the space permits, I will go with under layout staging yards, But I have no idea what to model. I have a bit of UP and BNSF modern gear, so ideally would like to keep it. Somewhere in Calif. or Midwest where both roads run, would be ideal. Idea's? locations? I'm pretty open to ideas right now. I'd like to have 4-6 industries to keep a local train busy, with all the run through freights as well, Intermodal,Grain etc etc. I think even protolancing would work, say basing it on a fictional area somewhere in The States. I will have to do my research.
Still can't figure out why this site doesn't work at home?! I have both IE7 and FF3 and neither load the forum pages....Hmmm.
P.S : PC lovely ride, Thinking about getting a motorcycle licence myself and a nice bike.
Sue: Ninja 250 nothing wrong with those!
I think i'd go a nice Moto Guzzi or something similiar. Or a nice Harley... *drools*
Cheers,
Oz!

Good morning. It's 63, wet, stormy and there's a bit of lightning and thunder. The high is expected to be around the mid 70's with even more rain, lightning and thunder. We're also under a flood watch here. I finally got the decoder installed in the SDP40F A unit yesterday and got it speed matched to the B unit. Today I'll wire the two locos together as they'll be running in a permanent lashup. There's not much else on my schedule for today. Today's Weather for: Sundown, LA 71446-6114 11/12/2008 Wind Chill: 61°F Humidity: 94% Dew Point: 61°F So Far Today High: 63°F Low: 61°F Rain: 0.83" Rain Rate: 0.16"/h Gust: 26mph NNE Important Message Flood watch in effect until 10 AM cst this morning. Very heavy rain with rates of up to 2 inches per hour...wind gusts to 45 mph and occasional lightning are possible with these storms. This line will reach Krotz Springs to Saint Martinville to Erath through 7 AM. Movement is east at 35 mph. Good morning all,
Chilly this morning but we will get to the mid 50’s today.
Sue, sorry got my posts crossed.
Those little pickle cars and the wood tank cars remained in service until 1972 believe it or not.
Morgan, nice job on those passenger cars I just unpacked a set of NYC silver side passenger cars to re-letter for the L.S. &W.
I sold 17 pieces of rolling stock, 42 plastic autos, and some assorted stuff online last night to a local guy. Tonight I plan on dropping everything off.

Good morning
Morning all.
Last night I went to the MR club and ran a bit. I tested my SW15s (one is powered, the other is a dummy with a sound decoder) to see how much more they could pull after I added a bunch of weight to it. Before I added weight I could only pull about 6 cars up the helix. After I added weight I got up to 22 cars up the helix. Needless to say, I exceded my goal of 12 cars pretty good. I had left my U28Bs at a friends so he could speedmatch them with decoderpro. When I got to the club they were there waiting for me, and now they run really well together.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
I've finished the wiring that joins the pickups of the two SDP40F's together. In the photo below you can just see the red and black wires passing from one loco to the other like MU cables. The white wire is tied around the two X2F couplers. This way they can't separate but are free to move.
