Rob, I haven't seen a pot belly pig in a loooooong time. They were popular years ago. How many animals do you have, like a small farm?
I guess I will work on the layout some more tomorrow. Took the day off. Spent some time with my wifes grandma and aunt today. I don't have any family left.
Well, everybody stay warm. I will be back on the morning for some good ole' breakfast.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
***Robby, if you go to my web site, just look for the "farm link" at the bottom right. I need to do some serious updates on there, as a number of critters have passed on: http://www.cederstrand.com/
***Sue, spoke to my sister in Toledo (WA) and they have about 2' on the ground, and that is after some melt. She lives on the road to Mt St Helens. The photos she e-mailed to me were beautiful. My Dad was stranded there and said he has no idea what he will find back at his home in Rochester. My brother from Hong Kong was also there, although his wife didn't make the trip with him. Have not talked with my brother (excluding e-mails ofcourse) in many years. Did I mention the pipe to their house busted? My BIL was working with what he could find to "temporarily patch it" until the stores open tomorrow. Nothing like a house full of company and no running water...Yikes!
Picked up a couple more structures for the wife's layout. That is enough for awhile I think.
Good night all.
Rob

Good morning all,
Blownout; sounds like you made quite the haul this year not to mention a DCC starter set but fifteen 40’ box cars from your sister, wow. I hope to see my Digitrax system the first week of 2009.
Jeff; when did you mail out those cars? I’m going to go to the post office and see what is going on or write them a stern email.
Today is all mine to relax or fiddle with trains, or whatever I desire, at least until the GF gets home from work, LOL.

...and a good BOXING DAYto everyone---we are expecting temperatures to go up this weekend---today; 4C---Saturday; 11C---Sunday;4C---all with rain. Guaranteed to make for a lot of slop for our viewing pleasure---or rather walking pleasure. Think I'll drag out the hip-waders now.
Lee; that is so very true---now I have my 'grainboxes' after I got some info on the odd ducks.
LSWrrJeff; when did you mail out those cars? I’m going to go to the post office and see what is going on or write them a stern email.
Good morning, Chloe. I will have coffee and a cinnamon roll, please. I am going to sit in this back booth for a while to see who shows up to chat about Christmas.
Rob, Sorry to hear about the pipe at your sister's house. I hope that your dad doesn't return home to the same thing. It is warmer now. The cold days were last weekend and the first part of the week. When did your dad head down to Toledo? What structures did you get for your wife's layout?
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Good morning. It's 68 and very cloudy and wet here. The high is expected to be in the mid 70's and and it will be mostly cloudy with a small chance of rain.Well yesterday I got $90 cash (always useful), 2 DVD's (Kung Fu Panda, 10,000 BC) and an assortment of scale vehicles. Problem is, they're the wrong scale. I model HO (1/87) and they're all 1/64. They'll be going back to the store as soon as possible. Yesterdays Christmas dinner was my favorite. Tex-Mex! My sister makes these things she calls enchiritos (combination of burrito and enchilada). These things are the size of paving bricks! Most people can't tackle one, I went through two and still had room for the spanish rice, refried beans, salad and stuffed pepper. Topped it off with a glass of lemon tea. When I checked my blood sugar this morning it was 140. Anything between 80 and 150 is good so at least I didn't overdo it. I hope everybody has a good day.Today's Weather for:Sundown, LA 71446-6114 12/26/2008Wind Chill: 68°FHumidity: 94%Dew Point: 66°FSo Far TodayHigh: 68°FLow: 66°FRain: 0.00"Rain Rate: 0.00"/hGust: 17mph NNEToday High: 75 Patchy fog early in the morning. We're under a flood watch now through Sunday, with scattered rain forecast for today and rising temp into the upper 50's this evening and maybe even a record high in the 60's with heavy rain and thunderstorms tomorrow. I'll take it sure beats highs below freezing temps, rain, snow and ice we've had for the most last month.
Hope everyone's recovering from yesterday ok. We've got seven extra bodies [grandkids] laying round here snoring. Thankfully they'll all be gone by noon, but they'll be back Sat for the night for our Christmas here Sun.
Thanks for the thoughts on Missy. She was a good kid and fun to be around. I think her girls will be ok, but they'll sure be missing mom for a long time.
ROB.... Sorry to hear bout Bacon Bits. My sister n bil had a potbellied they just called pig. He even stayed in the house some. We'd have a family cookout over there sometimes and Wayne would let out of his pen so he could play with the kids.
Mother's going to finish up our Christmas shopping today for the little kids to open Sun. The bigger ones are so hard to buy for, so get money. Jbird's [5] easy this year all she wants is a train, airplane or a helicopter. We were at Rural King last Jan and they had some New Bright battery train marked down to $5, we bought 2, so she'll be happy. Me, I hate crowds' n shopping, so I'm stating home.
Best gets moving a couple those bodies are starting to get up, so the whople bunch will up and hollering for breakfast. Thoughts for those in need and hope ya'll has a good Boxing Day

Morning all!
Been up most of the night. Guess I've got the beginnings of a fine cold going here.
Rob, sory to hear about Bacon Bits. Told the wife and she gave a big Awwwww. We both hope that Sweet Pea will take it OK, and same for her owners.
A merry 2nd day of Christmas and a Happy Boxing Day to all up North of the Border!
I slept like a rock last night and just dragged myself out of bed to greet the day. Currently a cloudy 22°F here in the Finger lakes with a high this afternoon of 34°F. Good day to work on the layout although I have to do some grocery shopping this afternoon.
Flo, big mug (FGLK) of dark roast and just leave the pot as well.

Morning (or afternoon) folks. I managed to not lose to my cousin on my gamecube (beat him at Mariocart, NFL street, and Madden 2007). Hope everyone is having a Merry day after christmas!
Did you know that if you translate the word "Merry" to its old english meaning, it means Mighty? So techniqually, you're saying Mighty Christmas instead of Merry christmas, lol.

Hey......I played some Madden 06 this morning. I had the Steelers vs. Chargers, and Ben threw 4 ints, and 3 sacks. At one point I thought I was watching a real NFL game, since thats the way the Steelers like to play as of lately.

Ah, nice. My cousin quit about midway through the third b/c I was winning 17-0. I called three pass plays the whole time we played, just ran with LT the other time (he was playing a quarters defense, so it was a little easy). I only called one play on defense: 4-3 Engage Eight, lol.

Thought I would post these in here (sorry, I already posted it in another thread). These are the lanterns my Sister got me last Summer and has been saving to give me at Christmas. She didn't say how much they cost her, but did mention that it was "a bit" more than she normally spends on me... The dealer gave her both for slightly over what he wanted to just one. They are almost identical.
Ray; Nice pieces---I saw something like those at a flea market in Woodstock once---do you think I'd pick it up? nah!! the brain done rolled up into a ball---
Oh well---a woulda/coulda/shoulda moment---

You'd understand why I'm so glad I haven't lost to him if you heard all the trash he was talking (I talked a little back only b/c of how much he was saying ).
Ray,
What a great sister!
Got me a late Christmas gift this morning. An Athearn GP38-2.
Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thanks.
***Jeffrey, that new loco is prefect "as is" (Union Pacific). I kinda suspect it's going to become something else soon, eh?
***Ray, Very Cool lanterns.
***Sue, not sure what day Dad travelled down there. As for pics of wife's buildings, will wait until everything migrates into the new train room and can be set out.
If anyone here thinks I'm being stubborn regarding charging our contractor for materials and labor we have put into this build, here is just one pic I took today of something he left behind which I obviously will need to fix. The plug is DEAD, so I'll need to dig out some sheetrock, drill studs for a run of wire to the nearest working plug, then sheetrock it all back up and prime/paint it. Notice the lovely door and wall left behind as well. Where the threshhold will go is uneven scraps of old plywood, which will need levelling. We got another Bill from him today, so deducted for our materials & labor and mailed to him The Last Check he will get from us. If he thinks we are being unfair, we will see him at Arbitration where I will present about 30 photos of work I DID and receipts for items WE SUPPLIED. My patience has run out.
Sweet Pea seems to be doing fine today. The loss of Bacon Bits certainly has not altered her appetite. She will be OK.
Not much else to report on.
Hope everyone is doing well this evening.

Good Evening All,
Had a full day here at the shop but it's goin home time now. Finished one project and got the snows onto the Focus (i'd say it's my Focus but my youngest has snagged it for commuting back and forth to classes - I have the Land Crusher for daily transport). Hope you all had a nice Christmas - spent the day at my sons along with his wiffes family and all of ours that was home. Just a nice lazy day. Got a couple of craftsman kits to replace the ones wrecked in the deluge along with some cool live steam stuff (small shop setup and a live steam powered car kit). Is the CFO trying to convert me to steam era model railroading as well ? Time to take my show on the road - I'll try and check in later. Cheers, J.R.
Good BOXING DAY evening everybody. Doesn't "Terminal" look ugly or what?
Rob; I'd be seeing him in court---that door alone would do it. As for dead circuit---I hope he didn't leave others? Was he even certified to do the work even?
Ray, way cool lanterns!

Hows her owners doing? I hope, OK.......
Good evening everyone, I certainly hope everyone had a peaceful, blessed, Christmas with family, friends and loved ones. 10,000 more people just north of us re-lost power once again, only this time it was due to very high winds from Christmas Eve wind and rain storm. A restaurant owner who is normally closed on Christmas Day, opened his little place and cooked a big dinner for all the tree and power company workers who stayed here to re-connect power since the big ice storm. These guys are here from Florida, Nova Scotia, Ohio, Indiana, Colorado, etc. They were deeply moved by the generosity, especially after what they had been through themselves. All the people brought deserts for the guys and told them all, "it was the very least they could for their efforts to restore power and giving up their Christmas with family to be so far away to help others. Love and caring for others is alive and well.
Not much work on train room move and re-setup, we hosted Christmas here at our home with all the family and some extras too, very nice day for sure.
A word about DER JOHN.....he had lost power in the same big storm that hit us a day earlier, and he also sustained some damage to his roof. He hopes to stop into the Diner soon, and asked me to pass on the info to all of you if I get to the Diner first.
PC: I am deeply saddened by the sudden passing of your grandad. But, I cannot think of a more beautiful time for him to see Jesus. And I am sure that you have many fond memories that will be relived each Christmas from now on. ROB: I am very used to hard work, so as long as the good Lord gives me the ability to do so, I will continue. As for chain saw, it is a Husquavarna model 363 XP, 18" bar. It has compression release for easy starting, and that is a definite plus at age 69.LOL MIKE: Thank you for your concern, and yes we are quite lucky that we cut down the 3 big maples that were very near our house, they surely would have damaged the roof. FERGIE: This was the worst ice storm to hit this area in over 70 years. I have seen ice storms here before, but nothing even comes close to this one. I have so much cleanup to do that I just gave up until Spring. i have too many branches, big ones, attached to the main tree, and they are just too dangerous to tackle on snow and ice. You can't move away fast enough, or worse, you may slip and lose you life. Any word on LUC ??? J.R.: Yes, we made it through OK, but not some of my neighbors, and certainly not those just north of me, they are still without power since December 11th!! How is your home coming along J.R.? Are you going to make it to the BIG E this year in January? RAY: WOW, that is one nice sister you have, very, very thoughtful. If you lose power, you at least have two lanterns if you have the kerosene and wicks..LOL A winter weather advisary is up again for this are tonight, so I'm off to check the two stoves again. See you guys later,
