Some things I've gotten this week:

Athearn rtr F7-A

Western Pacific flatcar and a 1969 Olds 442.

And some new structures to place trackside.

The fuzz is on the prowl.

I think it looks pretty good for a first try. I like the trucks, couplers and wheels. I would add a little oxidation on the roof, maybe a white wash, and add some rust to the hinges on your caps. Oh and watch out for the brush marks on the bottom, they stick out pretty good.

Although I posted this on a WPF a few weeks ago, I think I was a little late and no one saw it, so here it is  again since GK started this weekend off with weathering. This is what I would call a test car. Comments on my first try too??? Oh yeah, I noticed the brake wheel is missing too.

Overall pretty good!!  Only 2 points I'd make, 1.  bottom muddy: it's actually not "muddy" enough - there are brush marks visable - try useing a Q tip to blend the coloring smoother - practice on scrap using a dry & then a slightly moistened Q.  2.  roof a bit shiney - spray can of dullcoat or Krylon matt sprat.  Again, pretty good!!Smile [:)]

So I thought I would kick off this week's WPF - hopefully no one else tries while I am posting this.

I finally decided to try weathering a boxcar - I'm pleased with the results, but the bottom edge looks a little muddy to me.  I wouldn't mind constructive advice. I used acrylic paints and a brush to do the weathering (I don't have an airbrush yet).
