Very nice scenery, you two.  I found tunnel portals to be fun and relatively simple to deal with, Adam, but I didn't install a double...might have presented some other challenges.

I like the weathering on the blue boxcar, Ty.  Nice job on the station, too.

Here is my entry.  My thanks to Jarrell Conley for his touch to the basic image.

Recently I got a couple of old Mantua flatcars from a friend. They both looked rather toylike with the scale ten inch high lip around the tops of them. I cut the tops down and leveled them with wallboard joint compound. After they had dried I repainted them both teal blue and flattened the finish with Matte-Finish.

The two flats went from this:

To this:

I needed a couple of gravel roads and kinda turned the glued down sandpaper idea on it's ear. I made a basic roadway with wallboard joint compound and gave it a semi-smooth appearance. After it had dried I spread 1:1 white glue over it and applied a generous layer of fine WS gray ballast. I finished up by sprinkling a little green blended turf on it.

Here's my gravel road:

Hi all: Great shots, so far. Here's a small project I completed last week. I switched cabs on a dump truck. I put a 1949 Ford cab on a modern dump chassis.

Adam,

I like to think of myself as your Western Maryland guardian angel...Angel [angel]

Aside from Jack's Mountain, which had none, all of the WM's tunnels had poured concrete portals...  Just an FYI.  The scenery looks great, though.  You also need to pick up a wee bit of red paint to touch up that neon yellow front handrail.

Love the truck dump, Grampy!  Here's the one I've got.  It's an old Gloor Craft model

No pics from me today as I am in austin texas for the weekend.  But I did get my caboose fleet painted in tuscan red, lettered and lightly weathered.  It only took me 4 months but I finally finished them.  I also primed in white my 2 athern gp-9s and my bachman gp-40 an also my franken rs-3 project got primed in white.  These will eventually get pained in a light orange color.  My bachman gp-40 railings were crappy looking at best so I bought some .020 brass wire and bent my own version of railings.  It was kind of time consuming bbending the right angles and getting the right height but I think well worth it.  I also finished upgrading the last of my rolling stock with metal wheels.  I also tried the product blacken all on some shiny metal and it works great.  I can't believe I didn't try this product before.  I will post some pics of everything sunday or monday.

Great work by everyone so far.

Grampy I gotta say your work inspires me greatly. I will say this...not many pictures make me get the juices flowing enough to go down and work on the layout more than yours do. Keep up the great work!!...Bow [bow]...Tim

After looking at some of the posting all ready, I all most hate to post these pictures! As some of you may remember from last week I have been under the weather for about 6 weeks now. This is my first try at carving foam and painting it. I have used foam before but covered it with drywall compound first and then paint. This is straight paint over the foam.

Painted it light gray first, then added some brown to the gray paint left over then went over it again. Added some Pumpkin Orange to the brown that was left and went over again. Time for the black wash, wife was in one of her moods about be cleaning the bowl in the bathroom sink. I wiped out the bowl here in the garage and (More than likely should not post this part) and thinned the black wash with Milwaukee's Best. I will added it was the first beer in 7 days and blood sugar has been fine.Wink [;)]

I think it looks like rock, but any tips are welcome and looked forward to.

I am a corporte pilot and had to fly some clients down here.  We are shacked up at the marriot at the austin airport.  We got totally lost off 71 and 35 looking for a home depot to pick up a vacuum for the plane.  Needless to say we gave up and ate at texas road house instead.  Oh well.  I did look up some hobby shops to go to but I think we will stick to the hotel and airport before we get into too much troubleAngel [angel]

Mike,

Had you turned right on Woodward (just before I35), at the second traffic light you would have found your Home Depot on the southbound side of the highway. Woodward forms a triangle from 71 north and across I35. Send me an email or PM if you need other directions; I could give you my phone number. The only hobby shops here are on the far opposite side of town from where your hotel is located.

Great start to the weekend folks!  I always enjoy this thread.

I have been doing a lot of little odds and ends this week including some weathering of my USRA 0-6-0 #135.  She has been hard at work as always breaking down trains and sorting cars.  You see here near the end of the lead at Hopewell Junction with a long string of reefers.

Had to go all the way to the switch at the main with them to clear Track #6 where the first few cars need to be placed.

BTW, the switch target actually works, changing as the turnout is thrown.

Great work everybody. I posted these pictures earlier today in a different thread, but I thought I would put it in the WPF. These are two shots from my recently completed Diesel Service Facility. Enjoy,    Michael

This picture is of the yard office with two AC4400s in the backround waiting for their next assignment. Note: the boss must be in due to the Mercedes parked outside!

Locomotive shops are busy today.

MRH044 - wow! Would you care to detail for us the materials/kits you used and any other tips you might have on creating a similar scene? I'd be most grateful.

I'll answer for him. He left it sitting in a window, and his windows are lexan, so it acted like a magnifying glass, and well, you see the results. I'm telling him, derail it next to a curve, it's perfect for that look.
