He runs them a little bit, but we are planning to build a new layout soon, There are alot more of them, like a B&O docksider, and others. He got all of the brass from the 1970's and ran them alot and painted most of the locomotives but these are most likely going to stay unpainted. The Long Island class needs to be fixed up motor wise and the Berk needs a new motor i think, its been in a case for awhile like 2 years? The Berk hasn't ran in awhile maybe 10 years + but most of the others run very well. The layout he wants to build is a shelf layout in eastern Pennsylvania around Philly, and will start out as a 2X10 layout then expand later, but there will be a future in these locomotives, and maybe the little docksiders will where the Cumberland Valley Railroad logo, his freelance that he had in the 70's.

Really PRETTY brass locos. That Berk looks like it might be a United from Tenshodo. Does grandpa run them occasionally? Nothing works on brass better than an occasional (or more) run around the layout. It keeps them happy. Ask me, I KNOW, LOL

I've been working on Branchline Trains's "Weimer's Mill" kit. It's laser-cut wood, and a lot more of a challenge than any of the plastic kits I've tackled. Since it will be in the front of my layout, though, I took a look at the bare interior and decided that would never do. So, I've been scratching an old, abandoned gristmill look. Yeah, that's a black cat in there:
This was taken with only two walls glued on, and the third just pressed on to support the model for the picture. When it's done, that open wall will be installed, and it will be quite dark inside. I'm going to install a pair of small bulbs, just for show, since this "abandoned" mill shouldn't be illuminated. These two are pictures looking through a couple of the large outside doors, which I plan to keep open in the finished model.
And Simon, thanks again for the kick I needed to start this project. It's slow going, but not terribly difficult, and I'm really enjoying the whole thing.

I made some flat car loads out of old track and ties
I left space on the inside of the bottom of the stack of ties to hide a lead weight
sure helps the car track better

Rotor, The Emory station saved my butt from a thunderstorm the other day when I was shooting some CSX video over there! Also just saw some historical pics of the old Seaboard "Silver Comet" making a station stop at Emory. I have been living in ATL for 15 years now and never realized that was an active passenger depot at one time. Jamie

Building a protolanced industrial park layout
I'm working with my station, and it's fun to take progress pictures.
I like steam but don't run it often because most of my rolling stock is too modern to fit the era. But lately I've seen so many Mallets, Cab forwards and the like posted here, I decided the other day to put them on the layout and let 'em run. Here are a couple of my faves. Cheers.
This one is the Fayetteville, GA depot. It was moved from across the street to it's present location in the late 90's. It's now used by City Council members, as a voting precinct, and a public use facility.
This one is in Jonesboro, GA. It's the home of the Historical Society, and "Gone With the Wind" museum.

Nice coach there Jeff. We use to have an old CNW caboose sitting here, but I think CN pulled that out in 2004, along with the old CNW wigwags.

Well I don't have much. A while ago I made a freelanced Railroad. I don't think I'll be modeling it, but I think its fun to make up a paint scheme and paint it on your computer.
This is the Wisconsin Illinois and Northern. There roster mainly consists of SD40-2. There are 5 GP38s (3801-3805), 3 SD40s (4000-4002), 11 SD40-2s (4200-4210), and 5 Tunnel Motors that WIN recently purchased to replace it's aging SD45s. 4212 is a SD40T-2, and 4213-4216 are SD45T-2s. WIN classifies them as SD40-3s, as they are rebuilt with -3 standards, but the 4 SD45T-2s still have there 20-645E3 prime mover (20 cylinders instead of the normal SD40-2s 16 cylinders).
Here are some samples.
WIN 4209 is what most of the WIN SD40-2s look like.
WIN 4200 is WINs only SD40-2B. They picked this up from the BN. If you notice, it says "IMW B unit only", the IMW (Illinois Minnesota and Western) is WINs parent company.
This unit is by far one of my Favorites. A SD40-2 snoot nose.
This is the WINs first OLS (Operation Life Saver) unit. It's a SD45T-2, or on the WIN a SD40-3.
Last we have a direct link to WINs lines. They picked up most if not all of there trackage in 1995 from the WC when they where dropping some of there "surplus" trackage. The red is the WINs line.
