I got a few things. First, I destroyed what I was working on for this:

Then i went through a layout planning process for the layout that lead me to destroy my current one. The new layoiut will be built when the attic (where my layout currently is) is converted to my bedroom.

(that bridge piece will be 6 inches, not a foot.)

and now, i've torn up that small layout to build this:

I can't wait till I can get cracking on my big layout, but until then, the 4x8 will have to entertain me.

Great work everyone. as usual, grampy's Trains has it nailed. Lee, I think your n scale populance has enough lumber to build their own layouts. ;]

Well, I finally have something to contribute here: After toiling along on and off for the last six months, I finally finished my latest locmotive for my layout, a D&H RS-3m #504, this is the "good enuff" version, (long hood was not raised):

The model started out as an original Atlas RS-3 with my own castings for the nose, headlight/number board housing, dynamic brake box, exhaust stack, , sinclair antenna, air tanks and battery boxes. I used SmokeyValley stancions except for the front and rear for which I repurposed the original Atlas handrails. The fuel tank and pilot faces were also rebuilt.

No problem. I should have thought to include a pic or link for you.

Great work everyone on there postings.  There are too many people to comment seperately on.  The lumber yard looks great and grampy your stuff is amazing.

Hi all: Hey Mike, It's never a bad thing to start a weekend early. Your caboose and rotary plow are looking good.  Jeffrey, I, too have been following your park project, very nice.  Here's my pics for the weekend.  The yard switcher, SW-7 8584 is getting ready to pull MTs from Musser Supply Co. Meanwhile, in the coal yard, the guys are preparing to shovel some coal into the delivery truck. Looks like they'll be at it for a while. An East bound local is on the main, headed by Alco RS-27 2408.

Fantastic work!

The work shown this week definitely deserves a "2 thumbs Up"!

A rock slide a few weeks ago destroyed a portion of the yard lead and mainline near Hopewell Junction....

This opened up a large cave by one of the major tunnels as well...... A new streambed washed out under the tracks also!

Rebuilding has begun as shown:

The new scene is about half done at present.

I got a few pics of some prototype equipment this evening. It was a little too dark for my camera. I'll have to try to get some daylight pics soon.

A Kershaw Ballast Regulator:

They had it chained to the track to prevent theft! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

A Fairmont Ballast Tamper:

When did they start using steel ties? I'd never heard of these.

I assume this is for hauling ties? It's awful beat up and bent.

Jay...I Really like your D&H RS3M....Great!

Grampy ... You have a great layout, evidently.

How many of you have a gas station on your layout?  My Texaco station is located in the corner of my around-the-wall layout. Perhaps some of you can relate to it a bit.

Great photos every one !

I bought some junk rolling stock on ebay and have been having fun with them of the 3 cabooses in the picture 2 were duplicate road numbers so I took the body off the worst one since it was missing the ladder and porch rail on the back and made a shorty flat car out of it by cutting the porch steps off   I used one of the porches for my tank car as steps to the fueling facility

I also used the brake wheel off the caboose and reglued it on to the

Some fantastic work has already been posted this week.  My contribution is my first crack at adding DCC and sound to a P2K SD60.  I ended up cutting down the weight to make room for a 16mm x 35mm speaker and enclosure.  Without cutting it down, I was limited to 15mm.  The difference in sound between the two is significant.  I was able to cut the weight by turning the unit upside down and clamping the weight in a vice.  Then using a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel and a hacksaw I made the two cuts.

I used a Digitrax D165L0 with a Soundbug.  If you use this combo, make sure you use the 1/4" 2x56 screws to hold the decoder and Soundbug together.  They aren't shown above but without them the Soundbug will cut in and out.

***! This is a really good weekend for photos.  Maybe it's the Fathers Day vibe.
Speaking of... I got an early Dad's Day present from my kids.  They couldn't wait to give it to me.  Well, after agonizing on the phone with my wife on how to get to the LHS, They came home with 2 new sets of weathering chalks; grey scale set and rust and earth tones set.  And also the kids saw a "Harold the Helicopter" from Thomas the Tank Engine.  They said it's for me but they are playing with it more then I ever will.;) Wink [;)]

While the were roaming the streets finding the LHS, I had time to finish the overpass bridge I've been working on.

Here's the tull fencing installed.

And a little extra patriotism for the engineers passing under it.

This is both installed on each side.

I printed them off the computer.   I found a nice flag on the net, saved it and kept 50% it down to a good size and then first time I print it out it just happened to be a scale 3'x5'.  Can you say lucky.

More to come from me... and hopefully from you guys.

Keep the axels greased and the tender full, we're rollin' now.

More pics of this weeks projects.  F

First off is is my mdc/roundhouse climax.  It started off in circus colors, it was stripped and repainted and weathered just a little.  It goes good with the wooden box car I got in a junk lot.

Then there was my caboose fleet.  I stripped all of them and repainted them white for now.  I left one in illinois centeral orange because I liked it and I stripped the roadname off it and renamed it for the pine river falls railroad.  I weathered it slightly.  I also weatherd all the caboose frames and trucks and upgraded everything with metal wheels, kd couplers, and added weights to them all.  When they get painted they will all get windows and slight weathering.

Sorry about the blurry pic on the orange one it was stationary and i didn't touch it during the picture.  I think it just does not like close up pics.

Friday night I had a chance to temporarily install the bridge at the club.

Nothing is glued in yet.  I decided to make the scenery around it first.  The tan stuff is sculptamold with a universal tint added.
