Good evening folks: A minced lamb Cornish Pastie and a cup of tea please Chloe.

Seems my meddling with that LL F40PH has reduced it to toast, so now I'm in the market for a replacement, possibly the Kato.  While looking on eB this afternoon, I scored a 50x modern N scale cars (vehicles, and modern too) for $12 delivered.  I hope I'm a happy camper.  Not as happy as Scott though...

feeling everything coming almost natural to me.
...I'd say Scott that that is a sure sign of being where you are supposed to be.Thumbs Up [tup]

Jeff:  That green boxcar is indeed very well done, no wonder you consider it up there with your best.  Apart from being HO, it couldn't run on my layout, as I have a ban on graphitii (sp?) on rolling stock as well as rocks and buildings.  Non-prototypical, sure, but I really dislike it in real life, so won't model it.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Tom:  Your basket case story reminds me a bit about he old C Liner (I think Revell, the one with that ridiculous oversized pilot) I picked up cheap years ago.  I did a surgical nose job, as well as getting rid of one of the 4 fans (for Canadian running), and painted it up for my Athabassca and Western.  Had to tweak the transmission some as well IIRC.  Didn't re-motor, but perhaps should have.  Budget constraints....

Welcome back in Flip and Chuck and Kathy!  That's as good an Easter present as we could have! Big Smile [:D]  Flip: You used a scythe?  That's a dying art!

Chuck, there are some wonderfully small decoders out there, and you don't need to have the decoder on a board.  These puppies will fit in Z scale!  I've lost the urls I had for those, but if you look at Digitrax and Lenz or, local to you, NCE sites, you should come up with something.

Reel type mowers were the only things a) we could afford, and b) that would fit on the narrow grass paths between my mom's iris seedling beds.

The other bit of good mrr news here is that I've been able to get my two SD40-2s to respond.  They had been consisted, and somehow I killed the consist without having them on the track at the time.  So now that I need to be running them, they were not "answering the master's call."  Broke down and read the manual, found out how to fix the situation, and now have them back on the roster.

Bed calls,

A Blessed Eater everyone, and for the rabbit inclined,

Prayers continuing for PC's boy, and all in need of healing, comfort and peace.Angel [angel]

HI ALL !!!!!

I was out back hobblying along the unbetten path and just 'drooling' about a cup of choc. coffee and a sweet roll when all the lights went out.....HOLY COW!!!!!!!   I had to find my way back to the truck in DARK !!!!!  Now I know what happened...

K athy and I are doing F.I.N.E.  both home bound Kathy for her bad leg and me for my new implant and to help her.   MRR is still spreading paper all over the floor, but maybe I've got an idea we will see.

I have been thinking about puttin' DCC, but the biggest problem to me is all the parts that I will need and the cost. I want to stay with MRC because I've never had any problems with them. MONEY, I want to run 8 engines and I don't know if the parts will fit. Three of them are Arkane brass  verticial boiler Shays and there is not any room to hide the boards and also I don't know how the old open frame motors will react with the boards.  So I'm talking to Caboose Hobbies about installing the first one and see how much and how good, and also maybe I'll have to change my thinking about what engines to use.

Lunch for Kathy. Write when I can. God bless all and Happy Easter......

                                                            Chuck
P.S. That 'Jellystone' was a great model when it came out.

Remember model railroad logging is a FUN business and we all need FUN........ACD

Happy Holy Saturday, all:  Coffee and a cinnamon roll for me.

Only 14 hours until Chocolate Bunny time---YEAH!! Evil [}:)]

Inch:  That joke was REALLY funny--especially to someone like me who taught at a Catholic girl's school forever.

PC:  Continued prayers for you and your family.

Garry:  Ahah, the 'Basket Case'.  Well, it happened about a month or so ago out here at the Roseville train show.  I happened to walk by a table, and lo and behond, here was an Akane Yellowstone sitting there grinning at me, and the price being asked for was a 'runaway'.  And the very nice guy selling it noticed me drooling, and came up and said that the price was because it needed a LOT of work to get it running.  In fact, it looked as if it had taken a high-dive onto someone's concrete floor.  The cab was dislodged, and though nothing was really SEVERELY damaged beyond repair (those Akanes are built like Sherman Tanks), I saw about a months worth of TLC to get it going again.  So it's been my Semester Project, so to speak.  Finally got it mostly together last week, after a lot of cosmetic surgery and replacing the articulated drive-shaft courtesy of NWSL.  And the little dear runs VERY nicely--even with the original Akane open-frame motor (I've got a NWSL replacement motor that I will probably drop in, depending on how much running time the original has behind it).  Right now I'm waiting for some PSC castings to come in (Elesco FWH--I've never been a Worthington boy, which is what the loco comes equipped with) and as soon as I get that done, I'll give it some paint and weathering and put it to work with the other two.  I know full well that Akane's aren't as detailed as the newer brass, but they're really dependable, pull like a team of oxen, and from normal viewing, they just LOOK good.

Anyway, that's my basket-case story.  Lillen in Sweden and I have been kind of joking about it--he's got all 25 Big Boys, I've only got 15 more Yellowstones to go.  Blush [:I]

Speaking of Holy Saturday--got to get ready and go over to the parish to rehearse for tonight's Vigil.  AND think about that Chocolate Bunny---YUMMY!  I can't even REMEMBER what chocolate tastes like.

Easter Bunny joke:

A guy's driving down the road when a rabbit jumps in front of his car and sure enough, Thump Thump he runs over the easter bunny. As he's looking it over ,a lady stops, gets out with a can of something and sprays the bunny. Up hops the bunny, takes a few steps and turns around and waves at the guy. Then another few steps ,same thing. Does this hop and wave thing till it dissappears into the woods. The guy's dumbfounded and asks the woman what she sprayed on the bunny. She shows him a can of hair spray and points to the slogan " Revives dead hair and creates permenant waves".

Hello everybody:

I'll have coffee and oatmeal please.

PC suggested that others support Jerry's Kids. Here's the link: http://www.mda.org/

It's good to know PC's son may be discharged soon. Perhaps it will be Monday if I understood PC. It's time to start preparing for a big welcome home for PC's son. I was saying we should have the marching band and maybe some fireworks. It should be quite a celebration. The festivities may include a hot dog eating contest. There are plenty of big eaters here for sure, and it will be some tough competition. If Jim CG enters the contest, I'll place my bets on him. Of course, Paul will hold out for some Usinger brats mit saurkraut. So, PC keep us informed and we'll be ready to celebrate when your son comes home. Some of the diners are good at animations in their posts, so hopefully we'll see some of that from them to celebrate when PC's son comes home.

Tom ..... You mentioned a 'basket case" Yellowstone.  I'd be interested in learning more if you would care to tell more. That chocolate bunny sounds good, too.

Inch ... the joke was funny.

Duke ... What's the story about gasoline taxes?

Happy Model Railroading

Mornin, just a coffee with wheels under it

OK, I know the last one was bad, so lets try this one.

Little Carol came into the kitchen where her mother was making dinner. Her birthday was coming up and she thought this was a good time to tell her mother what she wanted. 'Mom, I want a bike for my birthday.'

Now, Little Carol was a bit of a troublemaker. She had gotten into trouble at school and at home. Carol's mother asked her if she thought she deserved to get a bike for her birthday. Little Carol, of course, thought she did.

Carol's mother, being a Christian woman, wanted her to reflect on her behavior over the last year, and write a letter to God and tell him why she deserved a bike for her birthday. Little Carol stomped up the steps to her room and sat down to write God a letter.

LETTER 1:

Dear God:
I have been a very good girl this year and I would like a bike for my birthday. I want a red one.
Your friend,
Carol

Carol knew this wasn't true. She had not been a very good girl this year, so she tore up the letter and started over.

LETTER 2:

Dear God:
This is your friend Carol. I have been a pretty good girl this year, and I would like a red bike for my birthday.
Thank you,
Carol

Carol knew this wasn't true either. She tore up the letter and started again.

LETTER 3:

Dear God:
I know I haven't been a good girl this year. I am very sorry. I will be a good girl if you just send me a red bike for my birthday.
Thank you,
Carol

Carol knew, even if it was true, this letter was not going to get her a bike. By now, she was very upset. She went downstairs and told her mother she wanted to go to church. Carol's mother thought her plan had worked because Carol looked very sad.

'Just be home in time for dinner,' her mother said.

Carol walked down the street to the church and up to the altar. She looked around to see if anyone was there. She picked up a statue of the Virgin Mary, slipped it under her jacket and ran out of the church, down the street, into her house, and up to her room. She shut the door and sat down and wrote her letter to God.

LETTER 4:

I GOT YOUR MAMA.
IF YOU WANT TO SEE HER AGAIN, SEND THE BIKE.
Signed,
YOU KNOW WHO

Morning all!

How's everyone doing?  Not so hot here.  I think I'm coming down with a cold (stree lowering my tolerence levels?), so I hardly slept at all last night.  Just tossed and turned all night.  Got a call part way through the night that they're having some more minor problems at the hospital.  Nothing major, just stuff to keep them from resting real comfortable, ya know?  It all got worked out though.  For right now I think I'm going to try and do some schoolwork.  That should put me to sleep!

Hoople, I'm pretty excited for ya man!  It's finally coming!  You've been waiting for like forever it seems!

The winds are still howling here, I think the boys up in Nova Scotia are really getting it now, if the gusts are 50 mph here, I can only imagine what they are feeling closer to the storm center.

Good Great Evening, Diners, Chloe! I'll have some of Ryan's salmon if you have some left, please, and a slice of that Key Lime pie, too. Thanks!

Hey, Fergie, about that Food Fight - don't you remember how long it took Zoe and Chloe to clean up after the last big celebration in the old Diner(s)? Hate to imagine how much mess a Mexican-all-you-can-eat free-for-all Food Fight! Wow!! [wow]

JP - so, will your lady friend meet the family on Sunday? Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]

Don't want to rub it in for anyone, but today our gas dropped a couple of pennies. Now at $2.969/gallon. I'll have to get the tank filled in the morning, per our suggestion previously posted here. Yeah!! [yeah] Started to get gas tonight, but decided I could just get 5 bucks worth and get the rest in the a.m.

And yes, that means... Yippee, yippee, YIPPEE!!

that my friend Paul got my car checked out and it's working! Big Smile [:D] Apparently the spark plugs were snug enough that water didn't get in the crankcase, and he took it over to his house to use his shop vac and dry out the carpet and all, then brought it back this afternoon before I got off. The carpet mats I had left on the back deck today appearred to be about all dried out, so I put them back in the car tonight. YAY!!!!! Feel like I should learn how to do cartwheels or something!  Sooooo nice not to have to beg/borrow/plead for rides (but I do appreciate my co-workers who helped me with rides to/from during the meantime). Big Smile [:D]

Heck, I don't even mind hitting the TOP - Chloe, set 'em up and start my tab!

PC - thanks for the update on your son's progress yet? That would be so cool if you could get Payton to come by, even for a little bit! I'm sure your son would love it, Thumbs Up [tup]Yeah!! [yeah]

Duke

and he might even forget any pain that he has. , good to see you in again. That sounds like some hefty gas prices there.Thumbs Down [tdn] Definitely wouldn't want another 50 cents tax increase on top of that!

Bill T., more great photos - you've been holding out on us, saving those all for the past week or so. Wink [;)] Keep 'em coming!

Inch, nice groaner.... Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Well, Dick, the bank is definitely on my 'Never again' list. Tried talking with two different people (local and their toll-free lines) today about them charging me TWO overdraft charges, when the electronic transfer is the only one showing it dropping the balance too low when I look at it online. Will be starting on Monday to change any financial records that reference that account, and get an account at our local credit union instead.

BridgeTom, make sure you don't crash after all that sugar rush from that bunny! And are you wearing brown on Sunday, I hope? Wink [;)]

Grant (Trainzrule89), if you really want pancakes and soda, you can have them. It's free because you didn't hit the top of the page (TOP), so watch out - if you hit it, you get the virtual bill for everyone else's orders... Shock [:O]Oops [oops]

CN Charlie - to answer your question, yep, the rain's stopped here for now. (They're talking about rain next week, however). There was a train derailment across the river in Southern Illinois this week (likely the ballast sunk into the soggy ground), and they had to take some of the crew out by another loco that came in behind the derailed train on the track (but not quite as far along). That area was so thickly wooded (and the ground so soggy) that there wasn't any place for a chopper to land, or a 4X4 to drive in. Shock [:O]

But over here on our side of the muddy Miss., it was sunny and breezy today, and got into the low to mid-60's. Only supposed to reach the 50's tomorrow. In the outlying areas around here (Delta, MO and Marble Hill, MO are a couple) they're still flooded. There are several shelters set up at churches in the Marble Hill area and in the Delta area.

I'll be working on my dinner now. Dinner [dinner]  Everyone take care of yourselves and keep dry, warm and safe. Prayer for healing, peace, and comfort.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Global Warming is on hold....

...HEAVY SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EDT SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CLEVELAND HAS UPGRADED THE SNOW ADVISORY TO A HEAVY SNOW WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM SATURDAY FOR THE CLEVELAND AREA INCLUDING CUYAHOGA...LAKE AND GEAUGA COUNTIES. SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES OVERNIGHT ALONG A RELATIVELY NARROW PORTION OF NORTHERN OHIO FROM TOLEDO ALONG THE LAKESHORE TO LORAIN AND THE CLEVELAND AREA WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW NORTH OF THE TURNPIKE. SNOW TOTALS IN THIS AREA BY SATURDAY MORNING WILL AVERAGE 4 TO 8 INCHES.

MRRing is on hold, I have a 4' wide 6' deep sink hole next to my house I need to fill in.  It seems when they put the addition on this house in the 70's the contractor dug a hole and stuck a drain tile in the ground for the down spout (not connected to anything).  Over the years the rain water has eroded the dirt away.
