All is quiet here. Pastures nicely watered. Now we just need a few sunny days to get the grass growing.

Perhaps I spoke too soon about my Bigboy funds. One of my items that had been bid up, just lost $50 worth when a bidder apparently retracted their bids. Dang! Well, there are still two days to go and I remain close to reaching the required amount. Fingers crossed!

Hey, that UP Gas Turbine sold for $240+...sheesh, perhaps it's time to put mine up for sale? Could always put a Reserve on it so as not to get ripped off. Can't believe an old vintage plastic model sold for that. Think there was some kind of auto-bidder-thing going on there?

Wife should be home shortly with a late night snack from a drive through. Yea, real healthy thing to do.

Evening Gang: It's been a busy day. I fed out hay this morning after breakfast and then started getting the equipment for the train show. I finally got to the Gardens around 2:30pm. Mary Ann and I had to stop at the court house annex to get the plates on the trailer renewed. With a great deal of help from the guys at the gardens everything was unloaded and ready by 5:30. The new trans fere table at the track worked like a dream. I could have loaded up by myself but Terry was there so he helped.

We got another inch of rain the other day during the storm. I'll take as much as we can. It's too bad I don't have the strorage capicity to handle a couple of million gallons. Wait I do the blanking pit. If I could find a way of getting the water into it I'd be set.

Well I'm getting sleeping so I'll say,

Good Night All

Rob: Glad to hear all you got was a lightning show. That's all we had here yesterday. The last thing I need is another tornado.

Just a tall cool glass of water this evening, thanks.

***Terry, watching those wild cubs (now we have covered all 3 names for baby foxesSmile,Wink, & Grin [swg]) must have been a thrill. How close were they to you and did the mom give you the evil eye?

I saw our smallest rescued pot-bellied pig get "goosed" today by that male Canadian Goose. Should have seen that poor little pig run.Shock [:O]Laugh [(-D]

Been watching an item on the-bay (search: N Con-Cor Kato U P 4-4-4-4 gas turbine engine ) and can hardly believe what it is selling for. Hmmmm, I have one exactly like it and in mint condition. Gee, if mine would sell for that much, I could turn around and pick me up one of them thar fancy new (N) Kato GS4's and a couple cars fer it too.Whistling [:-^] But I might kinda miss the old gas turbine, as it has sentimental value. Pretty dang tempting though.Confused [%-)]

Still under a Tornado Watch, but it looks like the good stuff has already passed. Sure was a pretty light show while it lasted.

Hope everyone is doing well tonight.

Nice 'Bug, Garry.

ROB: Nope, we haven't seen any kits this year. I'm assuming it's the same family as last year and they had 7 of'm. Watched them roughhouse in the hay field in front. It was funny! It could be with the weather up here they're staying close to the den?

PC: That was nice of the members.I bet PCjr was suprised!

The son took pics of tree-building this morning. I'll get them up Sunday. We're going to try the fence building Sat. am. Then I was thinking of doing a "How I make...." out in the big room.Thought I'd run them past you guys first.Nervous and all!Whistling [:-^]

STILL snowin' and blowin'.I really am getting tired of this.Grumpy [|(]

***and our pickup would accuse us of trying to starve it to death. Heck, that wouldn't even fill my wifes little car anymore.

***Good advice, Fergie.

***Terry, have you seen the pups yet? I held some baby fox pups many years ago and they were the cutest darn little critters. Have some pics I took of them somewhere. Anyway, our fox was running right through the middle of our miniature horse herd and they didn't even look up at it. Undoubtedly he has been a regular visitor for some time....at least from the time I started locking up the Pyrenees.

***Jerry, looks like that car will make for a nice project.

Looks like thunder storms will hit later today and into the night here with strong winds, potential for large hail, etc... YeeHaw!

Got wet morning .......

We've had way too much rain. This is rediculous. Certainly, no golf for a while.

Brandon wrote "Thanks everybody for their thoughts on the career subject. I think I'll get my CDL (just in case) and ship off to CSX's in-house training center in Atlanta around August. Things may change between now and then, though. "   I think with your strong mechanical aptitude, you will do well. It may be a good idea if you ar interested in a railroad career to do some advance research. For example, it would help in a railroad job interview if you are familiar with railroad equipment such as the brake system. You can read about it on your own. If you go in the Trains Forum and ask for help learning such stuff, I bet you will get useful responses. Also, I recall you said you go to the KY Ry Museum, and you can look at such things on the equipment there.

I'm mostly done now with my new branch line and my mainline extension. I need to build a depot and related structures for the junction still.

Good morning!

It's still snowing here. We've got 8-10" of wet sloppy junk so far, and more on the way.Power went out at 6:30 last night, back on at 11:00.I'm sure the lightning had something to do with that. You read that right, THUNDER Snowstorm!!The wind was a real worry, too. I have some tree damage, nothing major. The Kids made it ,but not after a very real scare. Caught some ice/slush just right and, in the middle of the storm, hit the ditch. They went around 3 times . All are OK.The FOTH told grampa that they "went for a merry-go-round "rideLaugh [(-D]Two young fellas stopped Angel [angel]and helped the son swap the flat front out with the rear then put the doughnut on the back(after the $132 tow OUT of the ditch!),all in the middle of a MAJOR snowstorm! Steve tried to stuff some money into thier hands, but they wouldn't take it. Told him to "play it forward".What goes around comes around ,huh?

ROB: we also have a family of red fox. Right before the storm hit, saw him heading back to the den with supper in his mouth. And, DURING the junk, 5 deer were at the feeder!I was talking to some tavern buddies ,they also were discussing hay prices(dairy/horse farmers.) Forgot what they are paying ,but sounded outrageously high to me.We had a real poor season last year for hay and most guys knew they'ed run short. I "rent" 7 acres (well, for a twelve pac. That way I don't have to mow it!) to one of them.He usually gets 3 cuts, last year just 1.

Sorry for the long-winded post!

So check out this beautiful morning!

Sure, it's raining and all, but God has allowed for us to all still be here.  The rain is watering the earth to bring forth all of the plants, the air is fresh, and the sun will return.

And.........

If you can't tell, I'm in a good mood!  I had class last night, and that went well, then I got a good nights sleep.  And tonight is my son's awards banquet for his basketball team.  Yeah, the season ended a while ago, but then the spring breaks started happening, so schedules got wierd.  So the thing is tonight, and I'm expecting that my boy will at least get an award for the pizza drive they had, and who knows, maybe something else?  I know I'll be bringing my camera!

Oh, and I get to go and fuel up the van today for the week!

(Except you can double those numbers for my van!)

So what's going on in your neck of the woods?

Fergie, thats good advice.  I'll have to keep it in mind.  Last night I had to hit the store on the way home, and my drive from school is about a half hour, and I love to drive, so thats very relaxing for me.  Especially since most of my drive is through the country at night, so it's just me and the open road.....no traffic.  Walking sounds good though too.  I love to walk in the evenings with my wife.  Well, lately it's been more of a push through the neighborhood since she's in the wheelchair.  Let me tell you what.....THAT is exersise!  You do a mile or two of that and you're tierd!  Good !!!

Good Morning All

It's a beautiful Spring day here in sunny Nova Scotia! I know I can feel my ears burning already!

New construction is starting on the MESS as my latest "Top Secret" project is in mid- assembly as we speak. I believe all of you won't be disapointed!! Might be standing room only though for the Grand Opening so you guys might want to reserve your seats now...Whistling [:-^]

Rob and Phil: Both of you are under a great deal of stress these days so the insomnia  unforunately, as both of you are well aware, is part of the equation. I had a lot of issues with sleep these past two years as I seemed to wake up several times during the night listening to make sure everything was fine. After a while one finds themselves in "Auto Mode". I'm only now starting to uncover things I forgot or didn't do a year ago. Some of it was pretty major too.

Phil: Trying to go to bed right after class was always an issue for me in college, especially during exams as I'd finish crunching numbers, go to bed and all I saw was streams of equations and numbers. I finally had to go to the Pharmacy and ask for sleeping pills. The Pharmacist was alarmed and pulled me aside to ask what my problem was and I explained the numbers thing. She then smiled and said it was the first time she had a student come in for sleeping pills during exams, normally and quite frequently kids were coming in for "Stay-awakes". I always found a long walk or a jog after studying helped me clear my head. Now that the weather is getting better you may want to think about walking if you're not doing it now. Great way to control the stress!

 pcarrell wrote:

I have class tonight after work, so I won't get home until about 10:30pm.  It's alright though, because I can head straight to bed when I get there.

After a few hours sleep this morning (what is with some of us here and insomnia?),.....

I don't know, but I for one am sick of it!  I'd like to get a WHOLE nights sleep sometime soon!  I think I'm going to try out something I saw in the store the other day.

Anyway just my My 2 cents [2c].

Well time to hit the garden and the garage and maybe some "painting" of the latest kits.

Fergie

Good Morning All,

I see Bill's been in and filled the buffet for us. I'll fill a plate and get some coffee to go with the food. Out in the big room, Crandell wants us to use the pm button more often to keep threads consise and focused. I agree with the thought as regards the non related questions "are you going to such and such" and so on, but a lot of the "off topic" responses can be useful as well IMO. I think it much more important to "play nicely".

Didn't find much track yet, but I did get some cover put down in the last area I put buildings. Now if I can find my camera.......

Time to pick up tools and get on with it. I need to service the dually and load for Pocono today as  they are letting us in to park at 5pm and I can start tech inspections while it's still light out. I just hope the rain holds off - that place is really miserable when it's wet. Nothing though compared to what you in the midwest have had to  cope with. I was waching the weather channel and they mentioned that since March Cape Jim has had 22 inches of rain. I'd be thinking seriously of getting a houseboat by now or maybe an ark! Catch y'all later. Evening Gang: I just got back from Tony's funneral. It was a nice get together. One os his friends was a fireman and played the bag pipes. He used his small pipes so he wouldn't blow us out of the chappel. Then several friends stood up and said a few words. We visited afterwords and then went over to his sisters house. She had a real nice spread out and we did some more visiting and story telling. The only problem was no electricity. That was knocked out last night by the storms. All in all a good time and good stories and memories.

We had a storm hit us about 2:30 am and knocked out the power untill 8:30 this morning. When I went to check things out and get the tractor that I had the load of news papers on I found that 2 trees had had large portions blown out and one complete Elm tree had been blown over on the stock trailer and welder. I got all of the first one cleaned and a good part of the second one cleaned up. I have to do the rest of that one and the one that was completely blown down tomorrow. An inch of rain also fell on us so the pond is almost full.

PC: I guess that jounior is is really happy with that train. Most importantly it's all his. I didn't think that I should send anything since all I have is HO. I'd hate to start a scale war.Evil [}:)]

Evening all -

Just a quick stop in before I hit the shower. Thansk for the compliments on the photos. It was not raining all that hard actually. It was more of a light rain, if that.

Jerry - Back in 98, Conrail was split between CSX and NS. Anything that CSX has not painted over (which is quite a few) have had their white CR numbers sprayed out in black and restensiled with their new CSX numberss in yellow.

Take care all!

Evening all,

PC that is a very special train your son has there!  I'm very impressed with the caliber of the people here in the diner.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 62. Breezy, with a south wind between 20 and 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 10pm, then a chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 43. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 16 and 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

There is a chance of hail tomorrow and large hail Saturday.  The guy on the TV said chance of "dangerous lightening"  anybody ever heard of safe lightning?

***Brandon, your Dad's car is a real beauty. From the looks of it, some real TLC has gone into that one. Do share pics of your Monte Carlo when it's finished. Sounds wicked.

***Philip, that is one of the sites I have bookmarked, but looks like they haven't any "in stock". Guess I could send them an e-mail just incase. One of the few online companies I've used is cchobbies, but they only carry HO.

Afternoon, everybody! Just a glass of sweet tea for me today.

Thanks everybody for their thoughts on the career subject. I think I'll get my CDL (just in case) and ship off to CSX's in-house training center in Atlanta around August. Things may change between now and then, though.

Man, it was a great day today but it's about to get nasty around my area in a few hours. Luckily, I still have time to get out one of my favorite toys to play with...

It's actually my dad's car, but he never drives it (shame) and he trusts me with it.

MY toy will be a 1978 Monte Carlo with a Chevy 383 Stroker small block (giggle). It'll basicly be a street-legal drag car when I'm done. I already have the engine, but I'm just waiting for the ground to dry up so I can get the car out of my uncle's garage without the tow truck getting stuck. Maybe Saturday, who knows.

Saw the big red fox twice yesterday. My wife thought it was likely a female with pups in a den somewhere nearby. It is a very bold fox.

Anyone know an online company with an N scale Athearn Bigboy "in stock" that also accepts Paypal? Depending on how this weekend goes, think I might be ready for one next week. Need to see a Dentist, but my bad tooth can wait a bit longer.Tongue [:P]

Fergie ..... You had a busy month, eh.... Great! I was able to sneak a 2-10-2 to the layout while you were tied up. Now, remember mrr'ing takes priority to gardens and clean garages!

That would explain the foot prints in the ballastEvil [}:)]

As to the priority part, Sorry not quite asw I have the winter insulation to shed and that requires good old fashion manual labour, blood, sweat and tears, lots of tears.

Well I better get at it

After a few hours sleep this morning (what is with some of us here and insomnia?),.....

I don't know, but I for one am sick of it!  I'd like to get a WHOLE nights sleep sometime soon!  I think I'm going to try out something I saw in the store the other day.  I was in Wally World (WalMart) a while back and saw this product called "Hyland's Calms Forte".  My wife had been having trouble sleeping and needed some help.  Since she's on quite a lot of medication, and she has health concerns, we needed to be careful what we used, and this stuff was all natural and claimed to be gentle.  The doc said it was fine, so we bought a small bottle.  She said it worked real good.  Didn't leave her groggy in the morning or anything.  I think I'll give it a shot this weekend and see what I think.

......got up and made the trip for more round bales. Turns out he has over 100 bales, so we can pick them up as we need them. Whew!

Now that just has to be an answer to prayer there!  I've heard all about the rising prices of hay due to last years weather and to find that is like finding gold.  Now you just have to keep it under your hat!

Jeff, looks like anywhere between just north of me and south to your way, is just dicey weather today. Shock [:O] Maybe the rumbling thunder I heard was down your way?

It's north of me right now but I can see from the weather map that will soon change. Looks like it gonna be downright ugly by mid-afternoon.
