From those piscs I figure I can fix the handrails on one of my existing GP30s. (broke when removed for masking the black patch on the nose)

The fact is WAS a BN unit helps, sine I get all the right details for it. (just in case the GP30 shell I'm getting doesn't)

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Here's a shot of the inner workings. BTW, all the axle gears have been replaced with gears from an Athearn F7. It runs quite smoothly.

Thommo, you don't want these four that I have. They are pure-dee junk!

Rotorranch: I returned your PM and included a photo of what you're getting. They all run, but not well.

Jeff, do you have any more "pure-dee junk" I can have?
New Haven: Looking through the depths of the junk box I find that I have another Bachmann FT that's in very rough shape, a Model Power Hustler switcher (haven't used it in years and don't know if it runs or not), a Proto 2000 GP30 that has some pickup issues. It runs but not well. It has no light board and the intake vents and windows are gone. I also have an assortment of Athearn rolling stock. Two John Deere flat cars, four thirty foot two bay hoppers, a three dome John Deere tank car and a Roundhouse thirty foot old time flat car.

What would you like to take a crack at?

I like Bachmann.  I have two F9s that bracket a Proto 1000 F3 and they can pull anything.  I installed NCE decoders in each.  After years of hard running (many without the F3) the F9s are finally starting to show their age.

Hey jeffrey-wimberly, how good is the motor and gears in the FT?  I could use the parts if it is junk cause the F9 and FT are mechanical twins.  I could use the Proto 2000 as a good fixer upper too when I have time.  Is it up for anyone to ask you, cause I wold love to get those from you.  Just tell me what you want or need me to do.  Thanks.

Is it DCC equiped? Looks like it because of the tape.

There's already two people who want the GP30. I'll have to wait to see what they have to say. The motor and gears in the FT are good. I just tested it by hooking it direct to the power pack with a couple of alligator leads and the motor runs, gears turn as well. It's one of the old DC only models that has the motor grounded to the frame.

Packer: Negative. It is not DCC equipped. The tape holds down the wires. I had to hardwire it after the light board burned out.

Back to the OP. I've got one of Bachs GP-35 DCC on board locos and it doesn't have fly wheel drive. Don't know if that goes the same for the FT?? Mine said since it's DCC they did away with the fly wheels and use the decoder to simulate it.

Uninsured is free for you but it will be sent the cheapest way possible meaning it may take a while to get there.

Here's a pic of the switcher. It doesn't run. The lights come on, but nobodies home.

Thats fine with the GP30.  They have first right to it.  I would really like the FT if that is possible.  One of my F9s is starting to have gear problems, and mine used to be the DC only until I ungrounded the motor from the frame and installed the decoder.  So that is not a problem.

The lights are 12 volt. The originals were a much lower voltage. I used them in a couple of E units.

Then the FT is yours. Just PM me your mailing address and I'll send it out as soon as I can, probably about the end of the month.

The search for the innards of a P2K GP30 continuesSigh [sigh]

EDIT: As a last ditch effort to get the GP30, I'll pay 10 bucks plus the price of shipping.

OK, New Haven, you had first pick. It's yours along with the switcher. PM your mailing address to me and I'll send them out the end of the month. You wouldn't believe the cash offers I've gotten. I'm not interested in cash. It doesn't seem so important when you don't have much.
