Happy Holidays everyone!  I've been away traveling for the last couple weeks so not much work getting done on my RR - lot's of good work showing up here though.

Mark B - those efforts you did on the coaling tower have paid off big time.  I have the same kit and will eventually get to it.  I'll use yours as inspiration - you can do it - you can do it Thumbs Up [tup]

I've been working in my town and yard area.

Here's the modulars originally.

Here they are with first paint

And, the south end of the yard as it was.

And now

Best to all,

Tom

The bean bag is an old trick when the location doesn't have room for a tripod.

I can fix that color cast for you, too.

Run quick Lee.  The big bad kitties are banding together!

That's pretty funny, Lee doesn't have to worry about a thing. He's in "N" scale and they're so small they can hide anywhere. Man what a shot-- can't wait for the N attack to start...

Mark B, ya done good!  I really like the night image.  Just for the edification of onlookers who are wondering how many shots it takes to pull the right one out of the hat, this is one of how many attempts?

Ten Wheeler, thanks for your kind comment.  I don't get that many, but when they come like yours, it makes up for the "dry" weekends...probably because the images are so-so.  Smile [:)]

I hope this is my LAST layout.  I haven't been to happy with the last few.  I had to take a break for a bit and had to do some planning on what kind of layout I wanted.

I took a break from the layout today, and  will work on it some tomorrow.  I still have a good bit to do.  I ran out of wood for the peninsula's legs.  I had to make a trip to Lowes.  I will put the legs there tomorrow, and I am going to add another 2 x 4 sheet on both peninsulas.  Big enough for the turn.  I will post more pictures tomo.

Nice job robby P. You may find, however, that some crossbracing may be necessary on the peninsula to stop movement. The plywood alone isn't enough to stop any wracking. Strapping or building around the block column should stop any movement from the wall and out to the column.

Great stuff everyone!

Time for another member into the WPF, as I will finally have an operating layout in the few days to come. Heres a few shots of it so far.

These are from last weekend (Sunday) after myfriend and I finished up for the day.

And today after yesterdays work. We could have finished the mainline today, but he wasn't able to come over.

As you can see, I havent finished laying the mainline, but Its getting there. My friend brought over his MP15AC with sound last night (Athearn Gen) and we ran it a bit up and down while we were working. Should have the main up and running be next weekend, if not sooner, so I'll keep you all updated.

Alec

Heres part of my new layout.  Its going to be a shape like a S or so.  I still have to add some legs and a couple of table tops.  I have the backdrop but I need to paint it white for a base color.  I will have a yard around the block beam.  I will probably box the beam it and make it kinda like a back drop to.  I still have a good bit to go.

A few pix from Springfield 07. Who is going to 08?

An excursion bears down on us heading towards Twin Peaks.

At Twin Peaks, flying around the curve and over the river doing 60!

We slow for a freight ahead. Once it enters Rogers Yard we should be able to get ahead of it.

Very nice!  Must feel good to restore such a sentimental piece. Even though the origional lettering on the tender was "American Flyer", don't forget that B&O capital dome needs to be highlighted in Dulux gold, maybe you can find the gold lettering or make your own decals for the gold tender and cab no.

How many of the origional cars do you have? behind the newly painted box car, I see a tank car.

The one I have actually had slightly different paint and lettering on it (there were a LOT of slightly different lettering and paint schemes on the Royal Blue). The engine was all blue, with "The Royal Blue" in bold yellow, and "566" in silver. The tender had "American Flyer" in silver. Unfortunately, I can't find anyone who makes that style, so I'm going with the bold white lettering used on later S gauge models.

I have all the original cars from the set, which are the boxcar and tanker in the picture, and a lighted caboose.Big Smile [:D] The tanker's paint is in as bad of shape as the boxcar's was, and will need to be repainted some time. The caboose is still pretty good, so I won't repaint it.Big Smile [:D]

Check into Microscale for the Dulux gold lettering and no. It may be a pain to put all the individual letters on, but all will match. This sheet may work

We opened some presents early. I thought this was  a cool gift. Came out of the purty scrap yard in Mojave. I think I saw this piece at the Tehachapi Loop only it was longer..........
