Your response reminds me of the old saw:

Well the girlfriend got me a nice pair of Atlas Trainline Soo GP38-2s and pretty much my own weight in freight car kits (enough to keep me busy durring the off time around the holidays for sure)

I bought myself a whole new set of kitbashing tools and lots of paint as a gift to myself this year and if there is still enough money left over I'm going to spring for an Alps printer to make my own decals, which of course I'm quite excited about. Haha I'm also sure that they boys and girls over at the advertising department at work will like that too as I won't be begging to use theirs anymore.

Cheers!

Santa already came to my house. He brought a bunch of Santa Fe streamlined car with lighted interiors, some Santa Fe streamlined cars with interiors, but no lighting (perfect for daylight running) and the Walthers sanding towers and drying house.

Well, hopefully some track and an FDT Trackmobile in CSX markings, and MAYBE a Rivarossi C&O 2-6-6-6 H-8 Allegheny (with sound and DCC), but that one's a long shot to say the least.

On a side note, I know I model the modern diesel era, but I have a soft spot for steam. Heck, I just got a P2K Heritage C&O 2-8-4 Berkshire with sound and DCC at a train show in Nashville, and I love it!

Oh yeah! It may be off topic, but we are also getting an Olhausen 9' Championship Pro pool table for Christmas! (I guess you could say that pool is my sport)

I got an Email from S. Claus and apparently he DID NOT renew his FFL!....something about liberal congress and new laws and all sorts of legal crap and forms, blah blah blah.... So, I won't be getting what I WANTED!  LOL  But he did say that he is considering sending a money order which might go for some lumber and access. to start that n scale layout I've been contemplating for a month or so, but it looks like I'm going to be the one getting me what I wanted, Claus dropped the ball big time this year!

Last year I learned this Christmas business the hard way.  When asked what I'd like, I said... "Oh, a couple of tank cars and a passenger station?"  I ain't even gonna show a photo of those.  So, this year I went through Walthers sale catalog and the regular book, wrote down exact product numbers,  the price and if it was on sale or not, AND their toll free 800 number at the top of the page along side the words Dear Santa.  I then posted it on the fridge door.

It worked.  Laugh [(-D]

A T55 ES44AC GE Demonstrator that I ordered and has arrived.  I had to wrap it and put it under the tree because of the kids and the Santa thing but that's OK.  She was also supposed to pick up 5 Intermountain Sultran gondola cars that were left at the local hobby shop for me.  Other than, that I'll have to see after the milk and cookies have been eaten.

I know she bought me a Walthers Proto 2000 F7A-B for CB&Q and a couple of the P2K tank cars because I helped her order them onlijne.  She also called me last week and told me not to look in our joint checking online account until after Christmas.  The tempatation is killing me!  But I promised and I do like suprises so we'll see what else my favorite Santa's helper is bringing me.

It's really kind of hard to support your local hobby shop when the nearest hobby shop that's worth the name is a 150 mile roundtrip.

It's only been 10 years for me, but AMEN to that Dave!!!!!  I got a week off for Christmas break and some of that will be putting up insulation in the basement so I can get some heat down there. It's hard to wear gloves and work on laying track. Big Smile [:D]

Well, he kinda sorta already did, courtesy of the used brass department at Caboose Hobbies in Denver.  A big, hunking PFM model of a Rio Grande L-131 2-8-8-2 that runs like a top and pulls like a horse.  Grinds a little, but you would too, if you'd been a display piece since 1964, LOL!  Should have it in top running form by the new year.

Only thing I'm waiting for now is the newly released DVD of John Ford's big silent 1924 epic THE IRON HORSE about the building of the first transcontinental railroad.  Ford used some of the actual Central Pacific locomotives in the film--absolutely HUGE movie with GREAT railroad construction scenes.  Licking my lips for that one to arrive, I am!

For the first 2 decades of our marraige I kept warning her that when she got to be 40 I was going to trade her in for two 20s.  We both laughed.

On her 40th birthday I told her the time had come.  She looked up from her book and assured me that I am not wired for 220 ..........

I have to agree with her.  Besides, they giggle too much.

So now I'm not even considering trading her for three 19s.  (It's OK, you can do the math, lol)

Coal! If I get one piece a year by the time someone produces an N Scale H-8 Allegheny I should just about have enough to fill a tender!!!

Actually, I put a bug in my fair-haired beauty's ear that I would very much like a Ryobi 10" portable table saw. If I get that I'll be able to build me a router table.

Every year I ask for something to do with my trains and every year I get turned down.  This year isn't going to be any different.  Last year was cool because the wife got me my new digital camera and this year it looking like a new three piece tool box the stackable one on wheels from Sears.  Boy do I need it too.
